  1. I'm with you, but this is an old argument and both sides are pretty well dug in. What I don't understand is when a label releases a CD but refuses to release a digital version too (even after a suitable delay to first sell the CDs). For example, UX-Audissey or the various Mind Rewind compilations.
  2. FYI, Zion 604 released two new Radical Distortion tracks back in June: http://zion604records.bandcamp.com/album/the-wizard
  3. Compared to jazz, I don't find the rhythms particularly complex. I suspect there are at least two reasons for this: (1) the genre's heritage as dance music and (2) the difficulty of programming precise, continuous, complex rhythmic transitions.
  4. I have the same reaction to this as having to watch a compulsory ad before an online video starts. Please spare me the fortune cookie wisdom and just play the damn music.
  5. IMO, no goa or psy tracks have ever been improved by singing, chanting, talking, samples, lyrics, etc.
  6. You could also avoid some of the UX Audissey shipping problems by making digital downloads available (like other Anjuna releases on Bandcamp).

  8. Any update on whether or not this will be available as a digital release?
  9. Well crafted but I thought it was a little bland. 7 / 10
  10. Finally got around to this album. Best tracks for me were 3-8. The music is energetic and aggressive, but I also found it frequently monotonous with a harsh, "muddy" sound. The BPM is so high that the music can't breathe. This album would probably be more interesting if Cybernetika dialed back the warp drive.
  11. I'm still digesting the album, but so far I don't like it as much as his earlier music. I could do without the chanting and voice samples. However, maybe this album is more of a transitional work and we should withhold judgement until we hear the next album. He's got a pretty good track record so far, so I'm willing to keep listening to see how his music evolves.
  12. 3/5 sounds about right. I liked the Space Cat and 2Minds tracks. "Reality" and "No Limitations" were also OK. "The Cure" would have been much better without any talking.
  13. Just a suggestion, but I think "single artist" releases and VA compilations should be split into separate categories.
  14. Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland is a very good rock album where some tracks are psychedelic. The instrumentation is basically guitars and drums (and vocals) rather than the electronic effects you might hear with Pink Floyd. For a more downtempo vibe (and electronic soundscape) you might consider Pat Metheny - As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls. Metheny's more of a jazz musician.
  15. Is the link on the first page of this thread still the link to the latest version? IMO, you should add a date to the actual document ("as of xx/xx/xx").
  16. There were a number of good compilations and reissues, but here's a couple of albums that I enjoyed the most: Uptempo 1. Skizologic - Robotized 2. Qiujan - Ritual To The Light 3. Skizologic - Ease Your Mind EP I thought that a lot of other albums were well produced, but not particularly distinctive. I listened once or twice but never went back. (In the "All Other" category, I also nominate Ozric Tentacles - Technicians Of The Sacred.)
  17. Website is awfully quiet. No activity for at least a month. Anyone know what's going on?
  18. 10-15% seems pretty reasonable compared to the cost and aggravation of re-inventing the wheel and running your own store.
  19. Lost In Time is definitely a classic. I don't think any of his later stuff is nearly as good. You can preview the entire album here: https://zirrex.bandcamp.com/album/lost-in-time-special-edition-2010 This is a lot of music, so it may be a little hard to appreciate everything the first time you listen.
  20. The JaraLuca remix track on the new Lectro Spektral Daze album (Full Fractal Vision) is also very good.
  21. I thought Artifact303 and Merr0w had the best tracks. I liked the Zirrex track but it felt a little out of place on this album. The other tracks were good, but nothing really excited me (maybe Psy-H Project). I do applaud the effort of all the people who made this album (and the Prologue release) possible.
  22. Never thought I'd hear an album where Merr0w is more intense than Filteria.
  23. FYI, a lot of psy and goa can now be sampled at Bandcamp, including some of the early classics. Here's a couple of sites you might visit: http://cosmosis.bandcamp.com/ http://cronomi.bandcamp.com/ http://datrecords.bandcamp.com/ http://suntriprecords.bandcamp.com/ http://zion604records.bandcamp.com/ You can also try the Ektoplazm website http://www.ektoplazm.com/section/free-music
  24. Sonic Elysium and Zirrex also do a version of Vivaldi's "Winter" on the excellent Mahaon album, but the track isn't really Goa/Psy (unlike the rest of the album).
