  1. Artist: Atlantis Title: Cosmic Waves Label: Global Sect Date: 24, Feb, 2020 Tracklist: 1. Chi-A.D - Astral Warrior (Atlantis Remix) 2. Contact With Peace 3. Infinite universe (With Alienapa) 4. Cosmic Waves 5. Altered State of Consciousness 6. Acid Mantra 7. Astral Way (With Proxeeus) 8. Miranda - Phenomena (Atlantis Remix) 9. Inner Energy You can’t be sure of everything in this life. One minute you can be with the love of your life, the next you can have your heart stolen by another out of nowhere. You can be rich, make a few bad choices and then be out on the streets. Most terrifying of all, a strong mind can turn into a weak one, changing who you are and what you know, revealing you to be the same kind of human you used to think you were different from. But you can be sure that Global Sects mission for high quality Goa trance has extended into 2020. You can be sure that Atlantis knows how to carry you away from your problems and tribulations for some much-needed R&R. Clearly a much needed journey into the cosmos is exactly what The Surgeon general ordered for us , so here we are. My god what beautiful cover art. Atlantis AKA George Christoforidis has, like in the battle of Martyropolis led by Bahram, shot a storm of arrows into the sky turning it as black as a star-less galaxy. Pay attention to the mantra’s, hymns and galactic energy. Each break brings with it a calm euphoria, laden with synths that rise and fall before climaxing into more cosgasms. Take track 1 Astral Warrior (Remix), although personally to short for my liking, (I was certain that final moment was just a break) You get a track filled with acidic whips and melodies, encouraging vocal samples come and go getting you ready to charge into war with the ShlimSlums of Glaxy Hexaden 438. Contact With Peace spiritualises things up a notch further. Deadly basslines grind in the back bringing in an industrial edge as acidic chops of Solar Flares shoot their way through the galactic storm. If I was picking favorites this would be up there, but, well, you’ll see. A much missed Alienapa joins our boy Atlantis for Infinite Universe and it’s just as epic as you would want this collaboration to be. Welcome back baby, and thanks for bringing the coronal mass ejections to the party. Raw leads are introduced to shred up the asteroid belt leaving nothing but space debris. The huble telescope couldn’t track the layers of Infinite Universe, despite it showing up to be one of the biggest tracks of the night. The duo brings their A game for that main break and blast us completely out of this world. Cosmic Waves instantly fills the air with the enigma of nebula clouds expanding to consume everything around us. The melody swings out of the giant vaporous masses again and again, bringing you in each time to be lost in the beautiful sound of this music. While not overly complex the main melody works with the other elements in near euphoric harmony. Altered State of Consciousness comes in with more hardcore whispers and basslines. Whispers and words turn into mantra’s and anthemesque shots of comets across the known layers of the human experience. Raw dirty industrial sounds fill the track from underneath, daring you to look down. We float for a bit and the song takes off again before ending maybe a little to early. Those whispers are so clean and sexy though I don’t mind. Acid Mantra picks up with more foreign wordplay making this one spiritual beast of a track. Another favourite for all the reasons that make a track great. Clean clear production, interesting, raw background noises and a melody that goes higher and further. The main break is the best so far, so soft and silky with such a beautiful vocal hymn going on, this is pure trance baby. Astral Way. We all heard how the last duet worked out, and now we have another legend of the genre, Proxeeus to work some acidic fury into the fabric of space time. Acid whips around the track like elastic electricity as a star-studded melody is introduced. The atmospheric background reminds me of Ra’s R.O.M which is nothing but a good thing. Astral Way is probably the most complex and diverse track here, another showing of what you can achieve with a little collaboration. Phenomena is maybe the only track here I think could have been better. It’s slightly more cosmic than the original, although the original feels like it has more depth and rawness to it. Maybe if I hadn’t heard last years remaster of her treasures, but damn it’s hard to beat an original. Inner Energy slows us down a little but not a lot. The slower pace allows more space for the track grow and morph. The mid break is just straight up bad ass, The rest of the track doesn't offer too much variety but for a couple of listens it has been neat. I personally love when vocals are placed into tracks and think that leaning towards the spiritual side of things is almost always a good choice. Think somewhere in between Zopmanika and Psy-H Project. But really this is Atlantis' unique style that I really haven't heard like this before. The presentation, of the album is interstellar, this is a beautiful piece of artwork that hits every sweet spot in my body. My ideal kind of trance, beautiful and moving, in fact i was head bobbing and doing subtle little hand dances for about 5 hours straight as i had this on repeat on a flight back to Australia. The collaboration tracks really stand out and show great teamwork, my other favourites are 1, 2, 6, 7. Bom Shanka you beautiful people over at Global Sect. Andrei Verner delivers another beautiful piece of artwork to add to the collection. https://globalsect.bandcamp.com/album/atlantis-cosmic-waves

    Merr0w - Odysseus

Artist: Merr0w Title: Odysseus Label: Global Sect Release: December 12, 2019 Tracklist: 1 - Lost in the Triangle 2 - Lunar Tides 3 - Odysseus 4 - Trippy Jellyfish 5 - Their Own Light 6 - Sea Wolf Howling 7 - Fractal Octopus 8 - Last Breath On Seashore ~ Under the sea, under the Sea, Darling it's better, down where it's wetter Global Sect entered the scene committed to providing rare and focused styles of the Goa trance genre. For most of their existence so far this has been cosmic themed Goa that takes you as far into the depths of space as you can go. I even began to think that this theme would be carried through for eternity. With the release of Merr0w's newest album we see that it is not the theme that matters but that there is a theme. And what better artist to show us this than the guy who really does seem to love all the magic of the deep water myths and kingdoms. Brice Fruyt is all about the sea. Don't believe me? Merrow comes from Gaelic that stands for a Mermaid or a Chimera, so like a water chimera, so like a Taor. Just look at that cover art, that's some straight up cool work, and the merch available along side this release is outstanding too. Life under the water is fantastical, but it's also slow, you can tell from listening to these tracks that a lot of time and attention has been given to them. You can't just whip up a 17 minute track like Trippy Jellyfish, that comes from somewhere special, somewhere deep inside, more mysterious than the unknown depths. Well Lost In The Triangle sure does kick it off nicely. A fine tuned super duper producer type track. Bubbles and mysterious storms of electro goodness rush around you while the maelstrom spins you down into the depths. The melody shoots at you like the stream from a TFL-B54270-Aluminum-Alloy-Water-Jet-Thruster-Pump. Merr0w knows we need a little chill time before we deal with the next onslaught from the depths. You have exactly 3 minutes until the bulging Lunar Tide comes to clear away the wreckage from the first track. At full moon we never stood a chance, the final act of Lunar Tides is like a opening a giant clam to find:- Or This Life under the sea can be lonely, you might take either. Odysseus, King of the island of Ithica, battler of mystical beasts and subject of the gods Wrath, this guy really pissed Poseidon off. Merr0w creates an epic tale that slaps harder than a giant squids tentacular club. Fast and loud, the melody and background noises develop and morph, shift, ebb & flow. A groover that comes at you harder than Charybdis from that damn Vortex. Like the 8 long years spent with Calypso the nymph (The nymphs from the myths not the internet) on the island of Ogygia Triple Jellyfish is here for a long time. Wait. You're telling me Odysseus spent 10 years trying to get home but for 8 of those he was gettin' some on a Mediterranean island? Sounds better than going home to mumma and pappa if you ask me. If those 8 years were anything as good as the 17 minutes and 12 seconds of pure inspiration coming from Triple Jellyfish then I can't blame the guy. Like streams of power coming from the Neptune's magical trident this track blasts you into another dimension. Only ever letting up to shock you with another tsunami of energy Trippy Jellyfish is one heck of a journey that makes hits you by surprise every time you think things might be calming down. A song sung by The Sirens themselves, a lure of symphonies that traps you in a scaly grasp. The sound of Triton's Conch Shell Trumpet begins tooting overhead and now we are in the thick, there is no way to go but right through Their Own Light. A treasure greater than anything found at the depths of the Bermuda, just listen to that damned production quality. Melodies that morph faster than the Agulhas current are just the cherry on top but by no means the whole meal. The howls of a wolf through the trees are horrifying enough, but one from this guy:- No thanks. Good thing nothing but good luck is meant to come from the sighting of this thing. And after the first howls in Sea Wolf Howling that good luck brings itself to you in the form of one of the best Merr0w compositions you have heard. The Akkorokamui shoot their tentacles of raw rusted synths and melody through the darkness and wrap them around your body. This is one monster you don't want to fight but give yourself in to. Maybe the terrifying bastard is benevolent. Urchins, Lobsters, Poseidon and Odysseus all come together for one glorious moment of fractalised unity. Like a storm crafted by Aeolus Fractal Octopus is wild, fast, loud and exciting. it's been 10 long years but the journey has come to an end with one last piece to guide us home, and one Last Breath on Seashore. Merr0w get's to really bring the ocean into this track with enigmatic atmospheres you really do start to feel like you are in a lost world. A beautiful way to finish this adventure of deep sea myths and monsters. ~ I think everyone here will agree that this has got to be Merr0w's best work to date. The theme is carried along completely from start to finish, the melodies are great, the atmospheres are bubbly and deep, the production and composition of sounds dance around one another like sinking treasures. It's Merr0w but unlike you have heard him, perhaps unlike we will hear him again. Well done to Global Sect and Merr0w for this fantastic release, special shout out to Andrei Verner who has nailed the artwork. https://globalsect.bandcamp.com/album/merrow-odysseus
  3. Title: Astronauts In Space Artist: VA Label: Global Sect Date: September 9, 2019 1. Rayavarna - Countdown To Ascension: 2. JIS - Mercury 3. Median Project - Venus 4. Ypsilon 5 - Terra Firma 5. Skarma - Mars 6. Mindsphere - Spectacular Purity 7. Triquetra - Chronos 8. Tomocomo - Warp To Uranus 9. Ephedra - Saturn 10. Proxeeus - Pluto 1. Countdown To Ascension - A proper stormer that starts this comp off in a very positive direction. A seriously enjoyable melody and fantastic premise maintained all the way to the end. I couldn't imagine a crowd that wouldn't get their socks off to this track. 2. Mercury - A faster pace and low roars help you continue your way around our suns closest planet. Carrying you on lovely waves of sonic wonder & melodies of ecstatic apprehension ,JIS travels us around the extremes of our star and the light shines bright and wonderful. 3. Venus - At first I wasn't captivated. I think I was expecting Constellations and got In The Depth Of Space That's the thing about releasing an extraordinary album. But there was nothing I didn't enjoy about Depths Of Space And hardly I think I don't mind about this track. Some of the moments might have went for a few phases too long not allowing the final act to gain real momentum and release. But once the final act does come, it hardly matters what comes before. 4. Terra Firma - Despite my love for the other artists on the album Ypsilon 5's track was the one that I was most interested in. Paranormal is one of my all time tracks, there is never a moment where I don't want to listen to it. Well Terra Firma has undoubtedly been created on a modern strain of inspiration, but Ypsilon 5's sound and style hasn't been lost an iota. At times floaty, exciting and bouncy. That final act is a real treat too, an obvious master at his craft and a favourite from the comp. 5. Mars - First listen I was definitely into it straight away, since then I have only enjoyed it more even thinking that it's one of the stand outs from the compilation. The way the layers intersect and meld together to wrap the track into webs of enjoyment is testament to the Skill we get so often from Skarma. There'll be an album one day yea? 6. Spectacular Purity - It's not the Mindsphere style I have listened to on other comps, this makes it all the more thrilling, in fact it's like every track I here from Ali is unique and thrilling. The second listen I was definitely more into it and now I think it's one of the stand out display of Mindspheres talent 7. Chronos - I have a rule, if you're gonna call a track Chronos, then smash that shit. In my car where I listen to most my music now days I didn't think they had quite done it, felt like random parts thrown in without a connecting flow. On a proper set up this track comes to life. The moments all subtly connect while the energy gets thrown at you over and over after psychedelic breaks flip your brain. 8. Warp To Uranus - I'm not going to pretend like it's not brave to put a track with 'Uranus' in the title on the internet. What does have that got to do with the track however? Hardly much. The song starts with a cool premise that cruises along with bongos until about the 2:50 mark where it begins to take off. Despite the smooth rhythms it doesn't hit the excitement sweet spot. 9. Saturn - Ephedra's name is always nice to see come up. Like Imba you know you're going to get something at the very least enjoyable, and at the most a standout performance. In this instance its a standout performance. The Huge climax and ethereal undertones work wonders on the ears, 10. Pluto - When Proxeeus goes big he really nails it. A perfect example of that here, like Me, Myself and a Gnop-keh Pluto, blasts ahead with a track that starts sounding more galactic than we normally get from our Lovecraftian thaumaturge. That pretence disappears as the leads storm in creating melodies spinning through mind altering psychedelia. A favourite from the artist and the compilation. Overall it doesn't feel like Global Sect's strongest release. On closer inspection it's hard to see why. All the tracks are there, many are amazing and Global Sect offer some styles that we aren't used to hearing from them. I suppose Terraformer was a gargantuan step in the promotion of galactic goa and despite the good tracks this doesn't feel as incredible overall. Perhaps it's unfair to benchmark against Terraformer, after all I am much happier with this album in my life than not. It's great to see Ypsilon 5 back in the game producing high quality music, Skarma sparkled bright, Ephedra & Proxeeus both deliver standing ovations and arm flailings, Rayavarna & JIS bring melody and funk to the table. So yea, I do recommend checking it out. An album that is certainly going to age well and get better with time. Awesome Album artwork. Looking at the labels releases in succession offers a nice panel of colours. https://globalsect.bandcamp.com/album/va-astronauts-in-the-solar-system
  4. I don't know if I'm stepping on Global Sect's toes here, and boy oh boy is that the last the last thing I would ever want to do to our interstellar command centre. However. But. Anywho. Check the absolute wonder that is going to be this release. This release is 100% cosmic wonders. So much so that the tracklist titles have dropped the pretense of anything else, the cover art says it all and damn am I excited. Well, I'll let the Bandcamp bio take over. Artifact303 - Delirium (Downward Spiral) 07:37 I owe it to Global Sect to review this piece. Least of my reasons being that I accidentally bought this album twice...Not a cheap album, but Tsotsi must have assumed he hadn't bought it and just panic purchased to listen to on the plane to Thailand. Another reason this review had to happen was because I just had to tell the world how much I loved some of the tracks on the compilation. The best of which I believe was Sykespico's, the arrangements, change of acts, power, melodies. The entire composition blew me away. followed closely by Javi and Skooma's utter chaos of a track. Holy shit, there is a very fine line between over doing it, and frivolously swaying on the edge of that canyon. Javi & Skooma just created brining the edge with them as they jump across that line. This song is absolute madness from start to finish and probably one of the biggest risks on the compilation. Psy-H went balls deep in Gaura Nitay. Although a little repetitive at times when the peaks of the track hit they are good. Atlantis comes out with some proper beauty. Following the theme of the album of floaty dreamy space trance, I could have had more of that mantra but at the same time it broke me out of my daze when she came in, I didn't realise how deep in the track I'd fallen. Centevra Project do their job of introducing the theme of the album. Nothing amazing but the perfect opener to get us ready for more. They follow the theme of the album as they continue to pop up in other energised space acid tracks across the album...Obviously, they fit the composition perfectly (Maybe they even picked all the tracks ). Alienapa come in strong with 2 tracks. Are you mad being my favourite but only because I listened to 'night train' so many times when trying to figure out if I would pre-order the album or not and they new melody was appreciated. 'Ascension' by Raving Universe does just that, Ascends me to planets far beyond the terraformed inhabited planets of this albums. The track takes it times but it definitely gets you there, space travel aint fast my friends. Cosmic dimensions remix of Man With no Name's 'possessed' was the first track I listened to when I purchased this (The first purchase). Once again I haven't done my homework. I just finished Uni thats why Mom! So na, I aint heard the original, but the way people talk about MWNN I gotta assume he was special. I can imagine this back in the day, fucking amazing I'm sure. Well, Cosmic D has Done the old fliparoon on this one. Yes mam's and sir's he nailed it, by all rights I gotta assume he placed the old 'we are in space now trance dancer's' on top of it and I loved it. Awesomely produced and a great song all round. <---- Not true, there were no showers, this compilation is long Lets make it shorter to get me into one though. The rest of the tracks, and the entire albums is the sort of compilation you can play at anytime to get that particular style of trance. I'm starting to associate Global Sect with it, although I know the style aint new. Play it on shuffle at any point when that you feel like travelling to outta space, when you wanna get away from this goddamn planet and go see some funkier terraformed ones. Where the people will go in the year 2632 living a life of dance on the planets around what is, in that part of the galaxy, known as the trance dancers cluster. The grooviest section of outer space. . . Pick your planet. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thats it, thats the review. This is an 'Album' review not a 'Every song on the album' review. It's good my friends. Its not groundbreaking or challenging the genre, but it is cementing and defining it. A good compilation by all means. Listen in sections if you have too. But I promise, each song has its thing and stands apart from the others if you pay attention. Call it what you want, this is Goa, the greatest orchestrated arrangement of modern times and Global Sect have gone to a lot of work to collect these for us. Well done and thanks. To Javi, Skooma, & Sykespico. I potentially have another 79 years of life ahead of me, maybe more, would appreciate you continuing your crafts for the 50 years of that, that I'll be able to hear for. Ive taken the advice of Gfp1 and started blasting music on the newly acquired Bowers & Wilkins 600 series 3 stereo speakers and 2 subwoofers, on level 3 off an apartment. . . Fuck the neighbours . . . When they complain I'm telling them that 'someone on forum said I should'. https://globalsect.bandcamp.com/album/va-terraformer
  6. Release date: December 2015 Genre: Psychedelic Trance Style: Goa, Progressive Goa Label: Global Sect TRACKLIST V/A – The Mystery Of Crystal Worlds This is a MUST HAVE. Pure Psychedelic Trance from start to finish. It never gets cheesy or uninteresting. Everything is fresh and new. Psy-H Project delivers his best stuff for sure on this compilation, and for me is the highlight of the album. I can’t decide which track I like best, because they’re all so damn good. (Probably Dark Matter) Extremely good melodies and atmospheres, my mind is blown! And what a surprise! I NEVER excpected this from Psy-H Project and he went from zero to hero just like that. Filteria’s track is, well, okay, but it tries too hard. Artifact303 delivers yet again, with his super crisp production. I’m in awe how masterful this guy is at mixing. The melodies are always satisfying and so is the atmosphere. Best track is Black Light but Future Power comes close, and the others not far behind. Sirius delivers some proper oldschool goatrance, and this is a new artist to me. Look forward hearing more. Skarmas track Animoneae is sooo good. Sounds like Astral, yes, but that is his thing. And it works. It works VERY well. I’d place it in the sound kinda in between Another World and Amen. But obviously not feeling like an AP wannabe- he definitely has is own twists to it. He reminds me of Afgin – but Skarma does it better. This is really an overlooked artist at this point and should be well appreciated. Dude got mad talent. Celestial Intelligence is another great artist, and all of the tracks here are great. My favorite is Infinity. Not much to say really, you know kinda what you’ll get before listening, but that’s okay! His tracks are more suitable for multitasking rather than dancing or whatever it is that you do while listening actively to goatrance. Stoned watching fractal animations maybe? No idea. But this artist is more for the background. Merr0w – Burning Universe is fu**ing crazy. Incredible acid tweakage and the guy knows what he is doing. Proper stormer this one. Have to admit, didn’t like Merr0w very much before. Not that he was untalented – his music just didn’t catch me as great. But this one is for me his very best. Its crazy energetic and if a dancefloor doesn’t erupt during this, then the dancefloor is collectively caught in a K-Hole. Centavra Project is yet another artist, whom I’ve never heard of before. Galactic System is really sweet, and is close to the style of Artifact303. Can’t wait to hear more from this guy! Nova Fractal & OXI & E-Mantra. Such a trio. Wow. Can they really make it work? Doesn’t that saying go; too many chefs spoil the broth? Well not here. This track is amazing. Imba & Somnesia – Astral Travellers is very good, one of the better I’ve heard from Imba! Somnesia I’m not particular familiar with but either way, the collab worked, and the track is awesome. Another thing about Imba – I’ve been (well, the whole psynews community has) watching him grow the past 5 years. From a very skilled amateur to a total professional. Well done Imba, well done. Not many people get over that threshold and actually succeed! Im very proud of you in a must humble way. The rest of the tracks are really good, and there is no bad track here. An epic compilation sure to last a long time. 5/5. WELL DONE, GLOBALSECT! This is both dancefloor music and headphone music. Very well done. To mention the Artwork aswell, It is the best since as far back I can remember. Thanks for bringing the real Goa vibe back, globalsect! <3
