  1. You know the adage " the whole being greater than the sum of its parts " doesn't apply more fittingly to any other thing than a good electronic music set . imo atleast ! so lets get everybody's favorite set down here for our listening pleasures .. There have been really good ones like Anoebis' 1994 mix which i have been listening to a lot , i discovered some tunes that i had not heard before ( and more to come i guess! ). What i really like about good sets is that it brings more life to individual tracks than if you hear them in isolation. dunno if you all feel the same way and even albums that play out like a DJ set are much more enjoyable . I still havent heard a grinding set that has had me swaying from the word go till the end .. Lets hear them !
  2. My brother is doing a full Ironman Triathlon tomorrow, so I figured I'd match his effort (/s) with a 5 1/2 hour mix. When I was conceptualizing this mix, I was heavily inspired by Simon Posford (of Shpongle) after he came to my city a few years ago with an army of psychedelic weapons and blitzkrieged the dance floor for 4 hours. His ability to weave a variety of styles in and out of each other was simply astonishing - like he was a swiss-army knife of psytrance. Channeling Posford, I have selected a kalaeidoscopic spectrum of flavors spanning several genres, styles, and tempos. I wanted to challenge the listener to interpret a variety of shifts in ideas and emotion - as subjects of mad techno experiments, psytrance, and colorful breaks. If you have followed my catalog over the years, you might notice that I double dipped on some of my favorite tunes in the breaks section Flegma - Sundarbans [TesseracTstudio] FLIX - Atonalities in Life [Spiral Trax] Dj Tomsten - Extra deep repaer [Tombstone] Lampé - Crystal Cave [Digital Diamonds] Stoertebeker - Robinson Jr. [Digital Diamonds] A:B:S - Litmus (3ska Remix) [Kiosek] Daäna - Little Animals (Trilingo Remix) [Digital Diamonds] Enertia-sound - Broken Robot [Mistique] Durs - Caravan [Uxmal] Human Element - Evolving [Iboga] Acröfen - Nausea (Trilingo Remix) [Digital Diamonds] Interactive Noise - Rewire (Durs Remix) [Spin Twist] Karlos Rush - Lisergik Lab [Speedsound] Jon Bovi - Wad Morld [Madabeats] Gunslinger - Mystic [Open Flame] Meat Katie & Dylan Rhymes - Roll Player (Hedflux Remix) [Lowering The Tone] Sphera - Micro Poetry [Dacru] Human Element - No Rush [Iono] DJ Noise - North Star (Sunday Evening Edit) [Voice Noise] Mervit - 360 Degrees [Power House] Etherica - Deep Feelings [Sting] Futura Music - Bealtaine [Furthur Progressions] Bionik Vokolder - Shiva Tribe [Speedsound] John 00 Fleming - We Close Doors (One Million Toys Remix) [JOOF] 4000 KROMOS - Chemical Punks [Speedsound] ManMadeMan - Do You Believe in UFOs? (Cybered Remix) [Fame Game] Electric Samurai - Samurai X [Speedsound] Quincy M.E. - Willow (Tekbot Remix) [Ov-silence] Sonic Entity - De Facto [TesseracTstudio] Kavalier - Enigma [Global Minds] Pavel Tkachev - XSyon (Mostafa Gamal Remix) [Unique Sound] Trima - Sundance [DSR Dance Selection] Wavelength - Loosing Gravity [Eclipse] Static Movement - System Overload [Digital Nature] Roboteknic - Nacologic [Pineapple Digital] A-Mase - Together (Retroid Remix) [Morphosis] ReTTriger - Surge [Morphosis] Tentura & Tony Grand - Pandora (Atrium Sun Remix) [Morphosis] Monojoke - Surreal Things (Parallax Breaks Remix) [Spring Tube] Colombo - Buddhism [iBreaks] Roboteknic - 400mg [Sub Element] Max Hertzz - Whale Riderz (Retroid Remix) [Ego Shot] Ire - Take Over (Line of Sight Remix) [VIM] Alter Form - Visionary (Roboteknic Remix) [Rune] Nanoplex - The Droog (Hedflux Remix) [Iboga] Jayson Butera - Darkness [Ego Shot] Tongue & Groove - Fundamental Frequency (Monk3ylogic Remix) [Broken] MartOpetEr - Homegrown Disaster (Roboteknic Remix) [Divergence] Retroid & Alter Form - No Way Out [Ego Shot] Blazer - Spark [VII] Flack.su - Phoenix (Sergei Orange Remix) [Ego Shot] Parallax Breakz - Resonance [Utopian] Isolate - Artilect (Too Dusty Remix) [Sub Element] Too Dusty - Stardust [Tek] D-Ranged - Get Shift (Far Too Loud Remix) Blazer - Venom [VII] MartOpetEr - Don't Push Me (Unconscious Mind(s) Remix) [VIM] Pitch Drop - Broken Knows (Frequency Less Remix) [Pistolero] Charlie Kane - Wired to the Core (Blazer Remix) [VIM] MartOpetEr & Frequency Less - Conflictive [Neom] Toefinger & Soulah - Medulla (MartOpetEr Remix) [Broken] Modulizer - Nasa Agreement (MartOpetEr Remix) [Dirty Drop] MartOpetEr - Irony (Too Dusty Remix) [Broken Robot] Mariner - Orca (Retroid Remix) [Sweet Science] Nelver - Lost Without [Rune] For some more digestible chunks, I've uploaded it on Soundcloud in 2 parts. The first part quite conveniently wraps the techno/psytrance bit up at exactly the 3 hour mark, and then the last 2.5 hours (part 2) are breaks. https://soundcloud.com/ziptnf/sets/relative-eternity Image source: boxtail Download the whole thing here: Ziptnf - Relative Eternity (5:33:14) 731MB ~320kbps

    Koan - Leap of Faith

Artist: Koan Title: Leap of Faith Label: Blue Tunes Recordings Date: March, 2018 1. My Personal Dark Knight 2. Reflection 3. Margin Call 4. Manifesto 5. Mayda 6. Gabriel's Trump Card 7. Jinn's Keeper 8. The Die is Cast 9. Vendetta 10. Entangled Threads (Roeth and Grey Version) 11. Syndicate (Roeth and Grey Version) 12. Esbat (Witch Arrow Mix) 13. At the Sunset of Red Moon (Witch Arrow Mix) 14. Mayferien Nights (New Orlean Mix) 15. Abendreiterin "There's no use praying my friend. Even your God knows better than to come here." This Russian duo is nothing if not prolific. Like the vast majority of their output this is a digital release sounding like a solid piece of progressive trance firmly entrenched in the Blue Tunes vein. Dreamy, uplifting, and bouncy trance that more than flirts with a techno vibe. It's a pretty varied cross section of the progressive genre, sometimes sounding cold and clinical. On the other hand it can also be warm and precise with tracks like the Witch and Arrow mix of Esbat and the New Orlean mix of Mayferien Nights bringing a smile to my face the whole way through. Far from perfect it is still quite enjoyable and shows that this duo isn't afraid to move in different directions. Psyshop Download
  5. Hi everybody Since I discovered Psychedelic Trance, there are approximately 1-2 years I have never ceased to observe what I had observed in the Hardcore scene, Industrial, Rock,...etc : there are so many styles and sub-styles that it becomes a mess to find a way and we sometimes end (or even often) to nonsensical debates about how we will appoint or not appoint, define or not define, this or that music or this or that style. So I decided there are now more than a year to create a doc in PDF form gathering all styles of Psychedelic Trance and their characteristics without making pies of texts to infinity and beyond. It will be a little more than a year (or almost, must take breaks anyway ) to skim all anglophone and francophone forums, searching the most representative artists of every style, and recovering some information and definitions stuffed with spelling mistakes on Wikipedia, clumsy repetitions, discount translations all straight out of the English version of Wikipedia passed under Google Translate, and other calamities, and to correct then to complement them. Obviously, if you find an ugly lack of agreement/spelling well hidden in the bushes, an incomplete definition, or one of your prefered style/artist thatsmasheseverythingbutreallyeverything that is not referenced, feel free to sh*t in my face please let me know, it will be corrected in the shortest possible time if need there. Last update of the PDF: 09.17.2018 at 10:57 p.m. (Paris time) Here is the link for the English version: https://www.dropbox.com/s/x7po6dz18w4e0rm/Psytrance%20(EN).pdf?dl=0 Here is the link for the (original) French version: https://www.dropbox.com/s/eoi1kr5tbnydhul/Psytrance.pdf?dl=0 /!\ The Dropbox online reader doesn't support external and internal links in pdf files anymore, so you must download it and open it with a pdf reader if you want the links to work /!\ Here is the original (French) post on the French forum "trancegoa.org" : https://www.trancegoa.org/forum/trance/40857_mise-a-jour-n50-la-trance-psychedelique-dans-son-integralite Thank you for your attention

    Bioterranean - Souk (EP)

Artist: Bioterranean Title: Souk (EP) Label: Horns and Hoofs Records Date: July 5th 2018 1. Virtual Jungle 2. Syrup Pool 3. Playground 4. Lost In Raval I'm not a techno boy. Alright alright I'll listen to techno in a club, I'll slowly move the top half of my body from side to side. Sometimes I'll do a little dig down at the ground and every now and then I go full disco and wave my arms in a slow little circle above my head (Liberating). But unless its free on ektoplazm I just have to much else to listen to. Maybe I'm just not listening to the right stuff. Victor Solsona is here to help me, and I am a Victor Solsona fan. For those that don't know the full name Victor also runs the Hypnoxock project which is just banging track after banging track. Bioterranean is the psychedelic synth and acid heavy tech/techno/psy project with production quality on the same level. His latest EP gives us 4 psychedelic techno tracks, each unique and exploring a different realm from the last. Virtual Jungle has some nice little jungle sounds which open the album up nicely. Unless you're alone in the Brazilian Amazon I know you like jungle sounds. The track is full of funk with elastic synths that work their way into your cranium. Syrup pool funks things up a little extra with a pretty groovy baseline and lots of psychedelic sounds. Synths are straight techno and surrounded by ominous squelchy fun. Playground starts with the screams of joy from little amigos playing in what I can only assume is a playground, completely unaware that they have been born into a world of difficult choices and darkness. Little dunces. Victor knows this though and goes all dark and wobbly in this track. acid lines build and build until they hit a nice little breakbeat. Lost in Raval is a synth laden, stomping banger of a track. I once got lost in a supermarket, in my little 8 year old panic I picked the first lady I could find and came up to her calling her 'mum' only to find out she was not. This track is infinitely better than that moment. Biggest track on the album and a bunch of fun. Bioterranean comes out hard in this EP, with the same precision and care that we were presented with Eurythmia. Victor's style choice of sounds in all his music is a delight and I recommend getting this album, even if it means going onto Beatspace. Woop woop. https://www.beatport.com/release/bioterranean-souk-ep/2330525

  16. You'll Never Know - You'll Never Know EP This Release is very special. It is the story of the track that was the biggest hit in Goa during the season 1991/92. How it ended up there, it's a fabulous tale. Read it here... The year is 1991 and the season in Goa is going to be a blast. All the DJs are exchanging tracks for the upcoming parties, but there is a track, THE track, that everyone wants to have and to play. A hypnotic piece that is “You Never Know”. Read the story from the Artist: “There was a time when we suddenly appeared at the Goa scene with You Never Know, which was one of the first tracks we made after forming the band. The track ended up in Goa, without any appearance from either me or my partner because at that time I knew a French guy in Denmark, Besugh, who was totally into the Goa scene at that time, constantly walking around with his DAT recorder, collecting tracks from all over as well as DJing around the Aarhus scene. Every year he went to Goa for the winter playing at venues; he had his second home down there. I played the track for him once and he asked for a copy. When I saw him the next time, after he had been in Goa for the winter, he was completely crazy, screaming that "You Never Know" that year was the biggest hit in Goa. I know that Frank from Koxbox mentioned it to me as well. Besugh was the "main man" that year at the beaches, since he was the one who had the only copy of the track. Since you have been so determined for such a long time, to look up about who was behind it, me and my partner will allow you and DAT records to license the track. We are both happy that our track had, and obviously still has, an impact. It personally reminds me about the time when I was young and eager to contribute to the electronic music scene. This all happened a few years before we became famous musicians. Thanks again for bringing this memory up.” The track is mystical and there are people who have been looking for this tune for so many years on every techno and trance record they could find from, yet it eluded everyone because it has never been released before. We are so proud to be able to offer this fantastic track that was lost on an almost unreadable CD-r, the sole surviving copy, together with three other bombs from the same demo, bringing back that original vibe, from the sunny beaches of Goa teleported directly to modern times, to preserve this music for eternity. We are so grateful to have been given the rights to release this - it is a rare chance and we thank the producers profoundly and to help give this epic track the deserved glory and place in history that it deserves. Play it loud and enjoy it! Credits: Mastered by Jaro Valo @ Analog Dimension Executive Producer: Federico Draeke Photography by: C. Willensen Available Soon on vinyl (black/clear) and as digital download.

    Intermix - Phaze Two

Artist: Intermix Title: Phaze Two Label: Third Mind Records Date: November, 1992 1. Get Religion 2. Down and Out 3. The Process 4. Can You Move It 5. Dream On 6. Funky Hell 7. Phaze One 8. Truth 9. Corollary 10. Monument 11. Fall Out Intermix is one of the projects of legendary Industrial act Front Line Assembly which is steeped in electronics and atmosphere. Their music often illustrates a futuristic dystopia with the requisite gravely vocals. Now going on 25 years old this was the second album (hence Phaze Two I assume) from this project and if you're a fan of this duo (and you really should be) then you can recognize their style. Unlike FLA this has no vocals only funky breakbeats and samples drenched in electronic manipulation. Their first album was rather rudimentary complete with early tropes of industrial electronica, but I believe this was where they started to put it together. The beats are head noddingly good (mostly) while their atmosphere creation certainly took another step. This style would open the door to FLA classics like Hard Wired, Implode, and Flavour of the Weak. Unfortunately most of the tracks sound a little dated and probably cater to the early 90's dancefloor in a goofy techno rave, sample heavy vein (Dream On, Funky Hell, Truth). Still there is some good to be found here and as I mentioned this album appears to be an important stepping stone.
