  1. Check the albums by artha, crossing mind, portamento indeed, Goapocalipsis by Alienapia, Dance Of The Distant Worlds by Ps-H Project and maybe organistic by Phobos Azazel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXzthc_J2Vo
  2. Have undertaken the mission to read the great SciFi classics... So far I've read: Hyperion by Dan Simmons: great The Canterbury Tales - like construction of the narrative, enjoyed it a lot. Quite abstract in some of it concepts, focused mainly around pain. Definitely worth the read. Neuromancer by William Gibson: awesome. Very 'fast' and techy feel, kaleidoscopic descriptions of cyberspace, all before the internet came into existence as we know it. Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dick: Classic, also bought the director's cut blu-ray of Blade Runner...The soundtrack and atmosphere still amaze me. The Three Stigmata Of Palmer Eldritch by Philip K. Dick: Psychedelic but rather dark trip, Dick had a very ominous kind of perspective on the future... Uneasiness is the keyword here. Definitely recommended though. Dune by Frank Herbert: Still on this one. Wondering by myself how in god's name I've waited so long for something this good. Stunningly imaginative. It's been a great trip so far Oh, in the meantime I've also read Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell... A future classic, no doubt. And Logis in einem Landhaus by W.G. Sebald, beautifully melancholic. I'm on a roll!
  3. All in all, this is one of the absolute best releases ever for me. Not only the music is at the pinnacle but also the booklet and artwork on it are just bafflingly good. I've been addicted to this so hard that I didn't listen to anything else, anything at all for two full months. There is not one track here that is mediocre but every single one of them fits flawlessly into a bigger perspective on goa trance, something that truly transcends itself. Some of the unreleased tracks are so unbelievably relentless in their melodic onslaught, you'll only believe it when you hear it. The best music ever made. Thank you Etnica/Pleiadians and thank you Draeke for getting this out to the masses!
  4. Here's a little treat for melody lovers! Improvisational set I made last monday, being inspired by the new Dimension 5 albums. http://www.mixcloud.com/ironsun/face-in-the-sun/
  5. Fantastic release, superb psytrance with a techy edge. Love his vision on Neuromancer!
  6. Damn that's an awesome cover-art and idem-dito line-up.... Samples are out of this world too... This is going to be a great compilation!
  7. Are you serious? Earning lots of money is the EXACT reason why mainstream music is the stinking pile of shit that it is. Money and the accompanying success kill creativity. If you notice that you can earn a lot of money with something the logical economic consequence is that you will try to maximalise the cash which comes down to creating a formula which costs less time but can be produced in much greater quantities = spewing out uncomplicated shit after shit.
  8. For once, epic doesn't even come close to describing the epicness that is Etnica Live In Athens 1996!
  9. I think today suomi is one of the most experimental psytrance sounds which would also explain the possible link to the australian wacko goa that was released under psy-harmonics. Other good suomi artists are: lemon slide, pavel svimba, outolintu, puoskari, exuus, EvsY, luomuhappo, aavepyora, etc... Btw: derango ain't forest, forest is derango!
  10. Wow, this album blows me away! Fantastic sound, better than revolution spaceship!
  11. I remember a while ago Taika Kim posted a masters thesis written by one of his fellow countrymen about the origins and musical structure of finnish psytrance, or 'suomisaundi'. If you do some digging in the general psytrance forum part I'm sure you can find it! If you don't however, I've got it on my pc so if you pm me your email I'll mail it to you
  12. I can't believe no-one has mentioned Sons Of Anarchy in this thread before! It belongs to my absolute favorites along with breaking bad, battlestar galactica, the walking dead and game of thrones...

    why i love psynews

    I feel at home here...
  14. I could try uploading it on soundcloud again... The problem is that I had a copyright-infringement warning the last time I tried to upload a set on soundcloud... Which is why I made a mixcloud profile in the first place. I have noticed that people are less inclined to listen to mixes when they are not available for download and a part of me understands that... and the other part thinks it's a pity because I want as much people as possible to listen to my mixes... Anyway, I'll see what I can do tomorrow ^^ Thanks for the interest!
  15. Thanks, that means a lot to me, coming from you! My biggest goal with this set was that even with newer Goa you can tell a very nice evolving story: proof that neo-goa is not all the same and/or lacks innovation. I think this storytelling aspect of Goa is one of the key-elements of why I love this music so much... You can basically create an entire new world inhabited by all sorts of creatures by mixing together a few tracks, whether it is old stuff or new stuff...Goa forever!
