Artist: Microcosm Title: Higher Levels Label: Released on Ektoplazm Date: October, 2011 01 - Ultraphoric Spacevibes (142 BPM) 02 - Eternal Circle (143 BPM) 03 - Beautiful Hallucinations (142 BPM) 04 - Ignition (141 BPM) 05 - When We All Come Together (142 BPM) 06 - Ultimatum (145 BPM) 07 - Perpetual Sunrise (144 BPM) 08 - Spacey Kebab (138 BPM) 09 - Destination Paradise (129 BPM) Dessert is good. Everybody likes dessert! You know McCoy was begging for a script where he could haul off and whack a b*tch. Bet he wishes it was Kirk though. Pies, cookies, fruit...somehow the French shoehorned cheese into the dessert cart and now the smooth bottom of dessert has a pimple on it. Old school goa trance is like a twelve layer chocolate cake with zero calories when done well. Pleiadians, Etnica, Transwave, Astral...all classics that never get old. Well make room at the table because here comes Microcosm. The Norwegian duo Fredrik Larsen and Georg Simonsen released and album that has been compared to Transdimensional by Dimension 5. And I fully agree. This was there only album and thanks to a close friend of theirs we are privileged to hear it. It is everything you could want in goa trance. Relentless, melodic, atmosphereic, entrancing, mind numbing. It soars and it growls, floats and dives. There were times I thought this could be D5 and times when I thought I heard a little M-Run and Crossing Mind. Just a marvelous piece of music. 2 bits of bad news. Primarily, Fredrik is no longer of this Earth. No idea how it happened, but let it be known that he was partially responsible for unleashing this old school beast on the masses. It should take it's place right up there with the more well known albums. Second, there is some background noise on the 320 mp3's. It's minor and for home listening it doesn't really sully the quality of this masterpiece. But you can hear it on some tracks. I've never been to a festival or party, but I imagine it wouldn't work on a big set of speakers. But who knows? If you are a fan of goa trance you already know about this. If it managed to slip under your radar, do yourself a favor and get thee to Ektoplazm and own this brilliant work or art. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk

Artist: Cybernetika Title: Solar Nexus Label: Ektoplazm Date: June, 2014 01 - Artificial Bloodline (80 BPM) 02 - Neuronal Interface (178 BPM) 03 - Distress Beacon (177 BPM) 04 - Monolithic (179 BPM) 05 - Bio-Magnetic Tunnel Transport (179 BPM) 06 - Stinger (178 BPM) 07 - Sol Nexus (160 BPM) 08 - Constellations (179 BPM) 09 - The Outcast Of Deadspace (150 BPM) Ladies and gentlemen please raise your glass to one of the greatest unsigned artists of all time. Though I'm sure it's done solely by his own choosing. Lars Goosens has returned with his 9th album that tells the story of genetically modified humans who after an absence of a millennium suddenly return with technology that surpasses the wildest dreams of all who came before them. This is a dark and symphonic journey through the farthest reaches of the galaxy. There is a palpable sense of foreboding as if we normal humans have bitten off more than we can chew. These mutants...friend or foe. I used to think that drum and bass was a very limited medium where there were only so many places you could go. After an interminably long absence Cybernetika proves me wrong. Again. Is it possible to miss someone you've never met? His compositions are so lush and multi-layered that they beg to be explored. Melodies don't float they scream over the oftentimes cacophonous background. Someone mentioned that the rapid percussion is a distraction from the treasure that lay underneath. Maybe. Until you listen to the complexity of that percussion and realize it's all part of a rich tapestry. This blazes a trail across the cosmos combining sci-fi atmosphere with the heavy hitting industrial sound. How can something so punishing be so beautiful? And just when the speed becomes too much and almost rends the sinewy flesh from your physical form he delivers emotionally charged and melancholic breaks that lead you where he wants you to go. Growly distortion and futuristic android cybernetics permeate the landscape. It's unrelenting hyperspace travel that show how far advanced these mutants are over the human race. Which is a pretty good metaphor for his crystal clear production and imagination. I know I don't have to say this, but... Do. Not. Sleep. On. This. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk

Artists: Various Title: psychedelic Depths Label : Manifold Studios and Ektoplazm Release: 2018 Tracklist: - 01 - Cybered & Opsy - Chidlren Of Paradise (138 BPM) 02 - Sulima - Cybertech (141 BPM) 03 - Manifold - Time For The Heist (142 BPM) 04 - Cybered & Sulima - Sweaty Brains (140 BPM) 05 - Himmelkompass - Fabula (135 BPM) 06 - Cold Project - All Of The Stuff (137 BPM) 07 - Faxi Nadu & Algae Bloom - Deep Rescue (130 BPM) 08 - Mediatek - Joolsoon (130 BPM) 09 - Spatial Feature - Jankia (132 BPM) 10 - Quite-K - Echoes (132 BPM) Oh look it's Ektoplazm, let’s see what 2018 has had them bring to us. Darkpsy, hi-tech, full-on, techno, techtrance, techtrance. Techtrance it is. The Russian Manifold Studio and Ektoplazm team up to give us a compilation of spicy zesty music. The comp starts fast ranging from 138 all the way up to 142 (WOAH!). I don’t listen to a lot of techtrance so i can’t say if it’s unique or not but it certainly has a strong psychedelic edge, very smooth transitions and really cool progression. Each song takes you somewhere different but vaguely familiar (Think energy charged dreamscapes) . Tracks 5 - 10 slow it right down but still reach the extra techy biosphere. Faxi Nadu is a nice surprise, teaming up with Algae Bloom to drop it down to 130 bpm. Most tracks are pretty dark and made for long drives down computer generated, electroluminescent polygonic roads. Like Tron, or that highway in the Netherlands. Take your pick. Depending on what you like i’m sure a song or two will stand out here, for me it was the faster 1st half of the comp. If this is what a Russian takeover sounds like, i’m not objecting yet. I grant it four hammer and sickles ☭☭☭☭ You can get it free via Ektoplazm or Name your Price over at Bandcamp http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/psychedelic-depths https://manifoldstudio.bandcamp.com/album/psychedelic-depths

Album: The Drama Artist: Escape Into Genre: Progressive, Full-On, Suomi Label: Ektoplazm and Enlight Records Mastering: Colin Bennun Size: 85MB License: CC Price: Free and Donations Track List: 01 - The Professor 02 - Come With Me 03 - H.N.I 04 - The Ziggurat Of Wondrous Wonder 05 - Outro The Drama contains melodic curves of brain shifting frequencies that delight musical cravings, yet they push hard against the boundary walls inside our heads. With intensified, ever-shifting waterfalls of progressive euphoria, a climactic, unexpected, and eye-widening-ear-widening-soul-widening electronic implosion sends brains into star clusters. This album will take you away on a dramatic journey accompanied by a heartwarming orchestra of soothing percussion, passionate and loving piano leads, and elegant energy at every beat. The innovation is outstanding. The vibes are extreme. This album is easily top of the charts, skyrocketing up a staircase of encompassing musical accomplishments that pay close attention to detail and mood. There is not a single second within this marvel I do not enjoy. From the first intro in "The Professor," I knew this album was going to be ridiculously entertaining. Escape Into uses a fresh and interesting recording of a man taking a sit at his piano to begin crafting the visions inside his head. The recording sounds up close and real, and then it uses the tune from the white and black instrument to start off the track. I have heard many attempt this style in the past, but it is rare to hear it done so well. The three dimensional sound is deep and full, taking me into the experience destined. This is where I simply can not stop listening. Every second, a new and interesting idea is born from seemingly nothing. It just pops up, grabs a hold of my body, and shakes me up like never before. This is what we like to call "dancing". I haven't heard a style this diverse in a very long time. From the "get him a glass of water" voice samples from "H.N.I," to the quirky introduction followed by a full-on sub bass with zips and zaps in "The Ziggurat Of Wondrous Wonder". Nostalgic Goa drum lines, Progressive euphoric trance melodies, Classical influences, Full-On Morning and Twilight raging dance patterns, and entirely new concepts are sewn together to build a totally game-changing twist of wonderful perfection. The mood is sweetly amusing. Is this my world as a child? Is it what I feel in my dreams? Is this a recording of a distant glowing planet flying at the speed of light through space? Whatever the case, it is dramatic sound in its finest form. The outro makes me tear up, using downtempo brilliance expected only from the masterminds of the trance community. Yet, in the midst of a free online culture, I find a particular gem in a field of treasure. It is so small, yet its twinkle shines through the darkness to bring a bright and lovely shine into my life. I feel the urge to get up and dance through the night like there is no tomorrow. I am getting lost in a soundscape of harmony with this album. I do not know what else to say, other than I will definitely keep this close to my favorites until the day I die. Download this album immediately, it will well be worth it. Take the normal drama out of your life and inject this into your veins. Your gonna love it. 10/10 Download here on Ektoplazm (MP3, FLAC, WAV) - Review by FatKidWitaJetPak (Nick Sumbles) - Special Thanks to Ektoplazm for the download bandwidth. - Special Thanks to Carol Porto for his incredibly talented artwork!

Escape Into - The Mirror Ektoplazm and Escape Into proudly present The Mirror, the last release by Dan Flict and Werther Azevedo, a duo from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After a three year hiatus Escape Into is back with their most adventurous release yet. Without the pressures of having to conform to a particular genre what emerged is a blend of freestyle electronic music with strong progressive rock influences, a style they call trip-rock. The melodies are more complex and refined than before while the tracks twist and turn unpredictably. Their use of analogue synthesizers shines through the complex arrangements bringing an organic warmth to the whole journey, making for a highly original trip through extraordinary and harmonious soundscapes. Produced with care and focus on details, it rewards repeated listens—their deepest offering yet! Mastered by Colin Bennun with artwork by Carol Porto. Hi all I would like to share some good news with you, I just released my first full length album on Ektoplazm Here are details : Obri – Afterglow 01 - Afterglow (62.5 BPM) 02 - Northface (95 BPM) 03 - Graphite (120 BPM) 04 - Shoe (feat. Kiki) (120 BPM) 05 - Sunday (123 BPM) 06 - Bushido (60 BPM) 07 - Granula (120 BPM) 08 - Cadde (Street) (122 BPM) 09 - Beyond (74 BPM) Here are some words from Ektoplazm : Afterglow is the debut album from Giorgi Dolaberidze AKA Obri, a musician from Tbilisi, Georgia. As a b-boy, rapper, and graffiti artist raised in one of Tblilisi’s Soviet-era suburbs in late 90s, Obri began exploring breakbeat and other electronic music genres, but was soon immersed in psychedelic trance music. Alongside other enthusiasts he founded GeoPsy, a pioneering underground psychedelic community in Georgia, and soon moved into production. These ten tracks summarize his long personal journey into sound, experimenting with different elements of psychedelia from deep ambient techno soundscapes to hypnotic acid roughness. Artwork by Digital Visionary Art of Giohorus. Mastered at CES Studio. I can say that album is pretty diverse, starting from acid ambient and exploring different aesthetics: techno, idm, dnb, experimental beats but you can feel psychedelic all over the album (that's my opinion at least) feel free to listen, download, enjoy, post your opinion, review, etc etc, it will be amazing Download from Ektoplazm or show some support on Bandcamp : Support on Bandcamp PS: Subscribe for more info on: facebook official page

"7" is the second album by Portuguese producer Xamanist (Sérgio Ribeiro). Seven years after making his debut with Initiation (also released on Ektoplazm) comes this seven track journey through earthy and organic full-on and progressive psytrance with strong old school Goa trance influences. These songs reflect the seven years of change, growth, and evolution, all of which reshaped his creative vision. Featuring voices by Sérgio Ribeiro, Joana Tomaz, and Mia Ribeiro. Track 3 originally by Random Mode. Mastering by Colin OOOD at the Stooodio with artwork by Basilisk. 01 - Re-Restart (140 BPM) 02 - DNA (140 BPM) 03 - Random Mode - Electronic LSD (Xamanist Remix) (145 BPM) 04 - Darkness Be Light (140 BPM) 05 - Bubbles (140 BPM) 06 - Plant World (140 BPM) 07 - Am I The Universe? (140 BPM) Download: http://www.ektoplazm...usic/xamanist-7 So, hello mr. Xamanist. Nice to meet you. As it is case with me very often, this is first time i heard of this artist. You guys would be surprised how narrow "knowledge" in general I have over the scene in this terms, although I have been listening to Goa for eternity now. Maybe the internet was to blame (or precisely - the lack of the same), financial situation that was not keen on anyone loving the music and wanted to actually buy something back in my teenager days in my hometown (it was damn after war period so things were a bit complicated in this terms), or just the fact that I was on the margins of the civilization here in Croatia, small village with all its limitations to acces basically anything related to music except minor electronica radioshows that ofcourse didn´t play Goa/Psy back then. In the meantime i got older and lazy as fuk to remember anything but music itself (which started to change lately, fortunately). So now that I have my excuses, off to review: I love more than several tracks from this album. And I wanted to give him nice feedback on album in promo post and ended writing a review. - Album takes off with "Re-Restart" which is darker track in the beginning, but it reveals its melodic atmosphere towards the end - which got me going through the second part of the track nicely, well done! You can hear 90´s influence allover this track, and this is what boggles my mind in a very positive way, yet the track contains modern elements that keeps it present. I find it somewhat as mixture of softer melodic "Jaia" like GoaTrance and Oldschool trance from 90´s. - Second track "DNA" goes with more classical simple GoaTrance approach, but that entrancing repeat of that melody in the begining gets me in a trippy state of mind that prepares me for the tide that is to come next. Track is very well balanced in terms of arrangement and I dig this one the most, after "Am I The Universe" track. Lots of higlight moments in this one, small portions of variation that change in subtle way and layers that work rhytmicly so well that it lifts me from my chair and force me to dance! Proggy trippy GoaTrance i would say! - "Electronic LSD (Xamanist Remix)" is more on fullon side of things, so is the original - but so far i hear more GoaTrance in this album/ track than Fullon - it´s more like it is FullOff while Goa-ish flow takes control of the things happening through tracks. This track is once again nicely blended so you can´t certainly distinguish the two (something that Ofoira did in last album "Read More" which attracted me to this one also). Nicely measured mellos, effects which give you that classic Goa feel while kick and bass drive you in FullOn fashion way. In fact very good RMX of very good original that I also listened for the first time this morning. - "Darkness Be Light" is point where I thought it will be weakest spot of this album. That intro melody was bit irritating for me (totally subjective here), and this is where it goes more towards FullOn but once again it keeps old fashion melody drive present but not in a way that kept me interested into track. 2:58 is where it gets my attention back on track, another well measured mello drive that holds you tight with background atmospheres swiping through and through. Towards the end it gets slightly more energy even though melodies go in second plan here, accent is more on overall feel of atmospheric drive but again it works well for me. This one is first where I notice more progressive elements, mostly arrangement wise - something I always dig a lot, good example is Lectro Spektral Daze. - Track 5, "Bubbles" pretty much the same like previous one got me impatient to almost skip first part of the song, but things start to pickup pretty quick. Around 2:17 it gets needed drive that corrects the initial dissapointment I felt with this track. Artist got to have me going up and down in waves on this part of album, which I usually find good, but here I say this one is definitely weakest point of album for me. This track gets some more mystical melodies later, but I have feeling it is dragging from beginning towards the end. It gains more energy on second part, but it lasted eternity to get there. While it is not a bad track, it is not my style so I won´t yell too much It definately has some interesting moments happening closer to the end (again that progressive arrangement). - "Plant World" picks my senses once again. Nice start, takes off with proper kick/bass drive and tribal percs. Melodic part starts simple and then goes into upwards swirl around 1:49. From there things tend to go faster then in previous two tracks and keeps your brain expecting what comes next. Short break and then things dissolve a bit, in a good way - it gives you mindbreak to enjoy small fragments of fx sounds combined with subtly chopped mellos before it brings you up in a trippy kind of acid line combined with airy leads. I find this interesting from my point of view as I usually do not listen to this style but more it evolved, this track reminded me of drive that Lectro Spektral Daze achieved for me on "Psytrance Powers My Space Engines", i felt hype while listening to it! Good work on this one. - Last but not the least "Am I The Universe" is nicely picked closer. It tricks you like it´s gonna be classic slow closure of an psytrance album with beautiful like, chill/downtempo start of a track - and then it bangs you with kick/bassline and waving atmospheres until that simple acid line kicks around 1:39 - early enough to keep you craving for more. This one I feel like full progressive and I like it a lot. My kind of trance. I produced similar stuff back in the beginning of 2000s when I started with my first work in Reason (much more simpler tracks ofc.) but - same melody patternwork, and this is pure nostalgy and love for me! I love this track over all other on this album just because of this. Middle is a bit draggy, but more to the end it backs up with atmospheres and organic mellos + that contaguous simple yet powerful acid which will keep you in the track till the end. Overall I would give this one 7/10 on second listen. I still have to listen it properly on my monitor system to hear the sound (I gave it 2 listens here @ my workplace on pretty crap but honest speakers ), and then I will update my "verdict" on this one. What is sure is that we will play at least one of this tracks @ next weekend gig here in ZG to test it on the floor! Summary: Very good album that in whole worked for me except "Bubbles" track which is not my cup of tea.

Artist: Manifold Title: Digital Sun Label: Ektoplazm Date: June, 2016 1. Manifold - The Wolf (Part II) 2. Manifold - What Time Is Love (2016 Edition) 3. Manifold - F-five 4. Manifold - Hated 5. Manifold - Voinamirov (Ektoplazm Edition) 6. Manifold & Dissociactive - Mara (RNKH 2016 edit) 7.Manifold - Faces (Ektoplazm Edition) 8.Manifold - Links234 (Ektoplazm Edition) "Look around you...what do those faces tell you?" *Shudder* Look I expect grandpa Eastwood to hate this. Probably makes his hearing aid whistle and it was made by Russians. This is what they came up with after a 7 year absence? Eight tracks and only one of them (Hated I think) hasn't appeared on other compilations? But Mike, they were reworked and remastered!" Who the f*ck asked for that? Was there a crowdfunding page where the masses wanted to hear remastered mediocre tracks? This was the same guy who was responsible for the tech-trance monster Acid Box? Lots of questions and not many answers. This was an utter sh*tshow. House vocals, cheesy samples, and eye rolling phrases. It's full-on and not even well done full-on. You're kidding right? Am I getting punked? Ashton, come out man, this isn't funny anymore. Just a few quick notes: Voinamorov has that Nexus Media vibe to it, but that makes sense because it was released on the Midnight Storm II compilation. Even though I thought it was a good track that was 11 years ago, you don't get credit for that sh*t! Reworked and remastered? Sounds almost identical. Faces had almost every atrocious cliche that you can imagine. It's what makes people think psytrance is dead. That should've been buried when it appeared on the Edge compilation. And the "rocking" guitar of the final track was so 10 years ago. Look it's a free release and they are entitled to do whatever they want. But if you're gonna pimp some old tracks generally they should be improved. Miss me with this. Mystic Sound Bandcamp

Artwork by Alpo Luoto. Oopie is back with his 2nd album and damn its a beast. If first was slow trippy goodness this is banging playful foresty Goa with a native elegant Suomi touch. Right when I almost gave up on searching for albums that are similar to Kiriyama - Reach Escape Velocity, Oopie dropped this bomb! Beautiful blend of elements from different sub-genres executed the way they should be. Gotta love that cover What is it with you Finns, you guys always tripping or what Look at those track names, Extrapyramidal Twerking On A Pyramid , Ignotrancer , The 7th Afterglow Of Son Mikael. Artist: One Arc Degree + Cybernetika Title: Nether Moon Ep Label: Ektoplazm Date: August, 2015 01 - One Arc Degree & Cybernetika - Nether Moon (174 BPM) 02 - One Arc Degree - Ghost Comet (176 BPM) 03 - One Arc Degree - Ghost Comet (Cybernetika Remix) (176 BPM) 04 - Cybernetika - Stinger (One Arc Degree Remix) (87 BPM) Whaddya get when you mix 2 Greeks and a German? Some smooth electronic music. One Arc Degree (Vasilis Kesalidis & Ioannis Konstantios) and Cybernetika (Lars Goossens) combine forces for pretty decent ep. The science fiction style is well represented as drum n bass percussion pings off the hull of our observatory craft with Nether Moon. It also has a nice break and cool piano riffs. The kick thunders in Ghost Comet as gentle and warming tones twinkle above and then Lars gets his hands on it and makes it more dark and mysterious. The closing downtempo track is also mellow and mysterious. Not Earth shattering, but solid nonetheless. Free at Ektoplazm

These songs reflect the seven years of change, growth, and evolution, all of which reshaped his creative vision. Bringing a new life into this world and becoming a father was key to this transformation, instilling within his music all the joy, enlightenment, and responsibility that accompanies this pivotal experience. Shifting from more night-oriented psychedelia to a more progressive and hypnotic vibe, Xamanist maintains his identity as an old school Goa trance composer open to new textures and sounds that have arisen over the many years of psychedelic trance evolution. Artist: Cryomatter Title: Cryomatter Label: Ektoplazm Date: November, 2016 01 - Cryomatter - Intro (150 BPM) 02 - Cryomatter - The Collapse Of Time (150 BPM) 03 - Cybernetika - Physical Limit (135 BPM) 04 - Cybernetika - Chrono Wave (143 BPM) 05 - Cryomatter - Lunar Maze (124 BPM) 06 - Cryomatter - Reassembly (182 BPM) 07 - Xenofish - Shifted Machines (190 BPM) 08 - Xenofish - Twisted Horizon (170 BPM) 09 - Cryomatter - Cold Dark Matter (175 BPM) 10 - Cryomatter - Conversion (200 BPM) 11 - Cryomatter - Decaying Timelines (100 BPM) 12 - Cryomatter - Azure Particles (138 BPM) 13 - Cryomatter - 7-Dimensional Stasis (170 BPM) If you're a fan of science fiction themed psytrance then you know who these guys are. Cybernetika (Lars Goosens) and Xenofish (Christian Becker) have pooled their considerable talents in a Reese's Peanut Butter cup team-up that should have people salivating. Dark and cold foreshadowing a futuristic dystopia the music is Blade Runner on steroids. It begins lightly, but it doesn't last. With mind bending bpms they unleash a percussive onslaught that at times pushes me to my limits. 200 bpms? That's damn near face melting levels! Both of these guys have been quite prodigious when it comes to this type of music, but I can't help but feel that we didn't get the best they had to offer. The music (while superb in places) felt like b-side stuff without much cohesion. It's relentless pounding with a frenetic pace that gets really heavy. Think...thrash metal drum n bass. Even when the tracks weren't punishing (Chrono Wave) it wasn't that interesting. The best bits for me were the short dark-ambient interludes as they contained the most emotion. Tracks like Decaying Timelines. So while I appreciate both artists, I came away from this disappointed feeling an opportunity was missed. Now...a dark ambient album from these two...that's something I would certainly pay for. Free at Ektoplazm

A nice gem released on Ektoplazm today. Since it has a lot of 'Goa' in it, why not share it here as well, I'm sure many of you will like this. 01 - Kierron Rajoilla (139 BPM) 02 - Hairahdus (140 BPM) 03 - Rahat Pois! (128 BPM) 04 - Donkey Kong (100 BPM) 05 - RooTest (146 BPM) 06 - Tuskien Taival (142 BPM) 07 - Fail Safe (139 BPM) 08 - Sea Of Mud (Mutameri Reggae) (100 BPM) Playing The Presets is the long-lost debut album of Finnish Goa/psy dub band Praktika (Heba & Ripa). The group formed during the recording sessions for Sörkkä Sonic, a collaborative album released in 1996 and attributed to Flippin’ Bixies, the original Finnish Goa trance super-group. Included on that album was Praktika’s earliest song, “Out Of Phase”. Playing The Presets was recorded during the Mutameri Sessions at the legendary Ääniasema Studios (also the home of Gad, M1D1L11TT0, O*men, and Squaremeat) between 1997–1999. This album was scheduled for release in autumn of 1999 on Exogenic Records but all master tapes were lost only to be rediscovered in the vaults of Johtoääni Studios in the summer of 2016. Nobody really knew what have happened and some blame aliens! All music is from pre-VSTi era when instruments were still made of red and silver plastic. Musically it goes from Goa trance to psy dub to psychedelic world music and Finnish forest funk. Gear used on this album: Roland SH-101, Roland Juno-106, Roland JV-1080, Korg Prophecy, Kurzweil K-2500 with sampling option, Peavey analog delay, Lexicon MPX1, Digitech Multifx, Mackie 2408 Mixer, Roland Alpha Juno 2, PC with Cubase, Sound Forge and Waves native Power Pack cracked by Radium. Credits: written and produced by Praktika with mastering by Heba. I found out about this from the forum which told me that this was our very own Oopie! So anytime one of our own has the courage to put their art out there (hell he may as well have used the bat-signal with that post) I'm only too happy to hear it. This thing saunters. It oozes toxic liquid. Groovy as hell, but don't turn your back on it cause it might f*cking stab you and run away laughing. The layers are deep and hypnotic creating a dark dream that's very psychedelic. The melodies go in directions that at first take seem dischordant and not very pleasing to the ear...almost chaotic. Like he's putting two things together that don't belong together. It's not often one finds true love...your money's on the dresser, chocolate. C'mon...we were all thinking it I just said it. There are only six tracks so they are of the longer variety and I know that I lost my way a few times. It has this progressive tempo, but is psychedelic in nature. The sound is great having been mastered by veteran masterer Deimos. Clearly this is something different and it pushes boundaries for those more accustomed to having their trance in a tidy little package. It might be a lot to take in on straight through listening, but there are some very good moments here. Free at Ektoplazm

Hubble Bubble – 144 BPM w & p by Phil Austerberry @ London, UK Mastering: Colin Bennun - nothing more to say Artwork: Bethan McFadden - Fitting artwork! Lovely. Genre: Progressive, Cinematic, Twilight(?) - ( basilisk says twilight but I always thought that its banging night time psy. ) This is amazing! Even for those who hate progressive like me. Absolutely new sounds which I want more of. Those haunting piano moments , that spooky atmosphere , those weird noises all combined skillfully by Philax. Very very nicely done. Drift away and get spooked! The original review is lost (thanks to some db error) Here is what label has to say about this: Phil Austerberry is one of those rare producers who knows how to develop intriguing sonic fabula through each of his creations. In terms of music genres it's an exciting fusion of dark psyprog, melodic psytrance and some spooky stuff Try it here: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/phillax-spooky-disco if you like it Buy it here: http://shop.vertigo-records.com/album/spooky-disco-ep

Surface Of The Sun is the first album from Noxious (Michal Švec AKA NEBULOsity), originally from Banska Bystrica in Slovakia and now living in the Czech Republic. Mysterious, melancholic, and slightly psychedelic moods alternating with positive energy and a drop of happiness. Photo by CyberQwert. Artwork by Newteck. Lotus Feet Records, recently established as an independent record label in Pristina, Kosovo, is proud to present its debut compilation, Lotus Rising. Their aim is to stir up the psytrance scene while delivering quality underground music to listeners worldwide by offering space for talented producers to present material favourable to the label’s concept: groovy night-time psychedelia with powerful bass lines and positive vibrating sounds. In their words, “We believe that contributing creatively and sharing our vision through sound is the only way of awakening and interconnecting our souls within this planet and beyond!” While working on this first compilation the label had the pleasure of working with DJ Fedro AKA S.E.T.I. who unfortunately passed away in this time. As he was a great inspiration for the release of this compilation it is now dedicated to him. R.I.P. Mastered by Monno @ Bimmelim Soundlabs. Artwork by Urtina Hoxha & Edvin Susuri. Various Artists - Through the Afterlife Album: Through the Afterlife Artist: Various Artists Genre: Downtempo Size: 170MB License: CC Price: Free and Donations Track List: 01 - Shunya - Deep States (Revisited) 02 - Kanka - Mira 03 - No Room - Made In Rainy 04 - Already Maged - Sulphur And Mercury 05 - DoHm - Silent Existence 06 - Farebi Chilebi - Swoon 07 - Molokow - Fields Of Aaru 08 - Parus - Afterlife 09 - Captain Kirk - Break On Through (To The Other Side) 10 - Six Fingered People - Polypi In the mist of nothingness, where breath and matter is nonexistent, a small fragment unknowingly begins to glow and evolve chaotically. This object becomes the center of everything, and for the first time in the infinite history of this land, color is created. Blue and orange clouds of gas combust into tall ruby fires amongst scattered pearly stars, violent oceans of green and purple waves bounce up and down newly formed spiraling horizons, and clusters of strange and exotic entities gasp into existence. Its dance spreads a beautiful and endless dream world of floating bricked towers, grassy mazes surrounding thick metallic waterfalls, and snowy pathways dripping downwards into oblivion. An observer, far away from the boundaries of this universe quietly sits and stares deep into its eyes. Then, from within the very depths of arabesque paradise, sound is created. He wakes up to find himself lost in this newly spawned world. Confused, he staggers in a daze, mystified and terrified by a barrage of strangely welcoming plants that move back and forth in dashing winds. Climbing through the alien world, he reaches the peak of a cliff and stares out into an open plane of astral creations, floating slowly in a never-ending abyss of abstractionism. As he glances over the wonders of his new reality, he takes a relaxing seat and smiles. This is the afterlife. Deep States (Revisited) by Shunya The eery yet soothing pads layering against each other are extremely fitting for this engulfing introduction. As I stare at the album artwork, I feel as if I am being taken away into another state of consciousness. Similar to the sounds of Solar Fields, the slow yet heavy bass progression delicately opens up a door into another dimension. The imaginary walls of this world are easily accessible, thanks to this captivating expressionism of sound. I can definitely tell you used Komplete to create this, if I am wrong let me know. You did an absolutely fantastic job at utilizing your sounds, crafting them to produce a wonderful soundscape. Everything morphs into a road and I am taken on a constant journey where the universe the song creates evolves. It is so calm and intricate. If putting me into a deep state was your intention, your certain achieved it with this tune. Mira by Kanka Beginning with the chitter chatter of a delayed synth line, Mira progresses with echoing pads and abstract percussion to start a bit of a different style. Different from the first track, Kanka shows uniqueness through wobbly, delicious bass lines and constantly organic tuned sounds. Around 3:30, it develops into a more active, heavier vision. I can also hear Solar Fields and Carbon Based Lifeforms inspiration in this track. It paints a interesting journey, making me want to go for a long walk in the middle of the night to explore unfound areas. I desire more, and enjoy the melodies that carry this track into a psychedelic art form. The land of Mira is awesome. Made In The Rainy by No Room Darker elements are chosen in Made In The Rainy. Paying attention to filling up the left and right channels with clearly enjoyable sounds produces an original and perfect backbone. In the center of this structure lies an addicting drum line mixed with some enchanting sounds. I feel as if I am inside a cave, running through a maze of rock hard, wet walls that lead into a cavern full of dazzling creatures. The style is a bit brighter towards the four minute marker, sounding like rain dripping into puddles. I didn’t particularly care for the melody towards the end but it did get its point across. Sulphur and Mercury by Already Maged Another darker track, as expected from its chemically raw related title. I am very glad to hear each artist in the album so far has stayed true to a unique style with different development and interesting composition. I thoroughly enjoy the progressions towards the beat that comes in at the one minute marker. The out-of-tune chords match the mood perfectly, and the light touch of background noise is wonderful. I can imagine a haunted house full of undead figures dancing the night away as a group of curious teenagers with a stupid dog come across the gloomy horrors. I can’t help but smile at this track. It it wonderfully quirky. Why wasn’t this used in a cartoon? It definitely could be. Oh man, after the four minute marker things get really interesting. The length of Sulphur and Mercury is highly entertaining with top notch replay value and production quality. The composition is groovy! And oh boy, your going to really dig the track around six minutes. Everything is psychedelic from captivating start to original finish. Silent Existence by DoHm Woh, is that quote in the introduction from the movie INK? AWESOME choice! If it isn’t I am mistaken, but either way I love the voice sample. In this track, we move onto a more tribal feel in the downtempo spectrum. With expected progression, the orchestration of percussion, guitars, and pianos follows an epic and deep electronic simulation into an African-like land. Satisfying leads and euphoric buildups make this track beautifully made. The melodies are all very well done! I can see myself playing this in the car to go deep into thought. Swoon by Farebi Chilebi Looks like its time for a slower, Jazzier track! Nighttime elements sprout up from the ground into a forest of gooey swamps and dark green trees that tower high into the moon filled sky. Get ready to feel lost, bewildered, and confused in this darkpsy head bobbing universe. The bass in the background of this strange and twisted environment is funky enough to make me feel drunk. Yes, that is a very good thing. With unconventional sounds, memorable tunes, and slow-time progression, Swoon is an impressive creation that can take anyone on a journey. I can’t stop listening to that baseline, its like I’m being chained down to my chair with this awesome track. Hell yeah. Fields of Aaru by Molokow Aaru must be somewhere in the Middle East, or no wait, the wild wild west, well wait a minute what the? Man this style is gorgeously diverse! Woh baby, I can play this sexy song on the dance floor. The beat creation skills featured in Fields of Aaru are simply swell. With obvious automation talents, Molokow can bend sounds at will with his synthesizers. The instruments are fitting for every minute, crafting together a desert theme full of sand and sunsets. Smooth, clean, and perfectly progressive. It even gets a little glitchy after the 5 minute marker, so your in for a treat. This is one of my favorite tracks on the album. I love it! Every little gap in the drum pattern is filled with some really interesting and creative elements. I want to live wherever these fields are. Afterlife by Parus Head bobbing, funky, downtempo styles are everywhere. String instruments, slower than usual Goa elements, and some kicks far out melodies bring everything together in a sort of Asian culture that reminds me of Buddahism. I feel this track is referring to the Third Eye, taking on a attitude meant to take listeners on a pathway towards enlightenment. It has a lot of organicness to it, yet it also adds some high class nostalgic and well programmed sounds that zap and zip in the foreground while a mixture of drums and guitars sing together. The mood is inspiring, and I feel very up in the air at every second. This track is very professionally done, paying high attention to the collection of highs, miss, and lows in order to layer it all on a beautifully done canvas. If anything, this track certainly reminds me of the masterful cover art. It feels like I am dead, traveling through a world unknown. Its like astral projection, and I am not talking about the psytrance group. Break on Through (To the Other Side) by Captain Kirk Starting with a twisted and strange sound world, Break On Through (To the Other Side) has the same feel that Afterlife does, yet it opposes it with a darker attitude. Echoing, triumphant pops and gargles fly and crash into mountainous walls, tribal elementals wash over the funkylicious body, and slowly evolving quirkiness fills the track to the brim with darkpsy inspirations. Unique from a downtempo style, Captain Kirk slows down a psytrance feeling commonly used for mind screws and gives it a fresh dose of styling beat mashing, scarily long textures, and basses meant to move crowds through the night. It is very interesting to hear this dark style slowed down and intensified. Awesome stuff. Prepare to board a spaceship to another dimension with heavy metal playing aliens around the six minute marker. Don’t worry, they are cool dudes and are totally down for kicking it as long as you have VIP backstage passes. Polypi by Six Fingered People IDM configurations ahoy! Blast that bass and get off your ass to this danceable delight. Taking from commonly used dubstep styles and drum n bass influences, this bigger, better, and broader idea combines all of that and turns it into a killer gangsta smash of totally tubular bodacious and sexy put-these-shades-on-bro kickassery. With a totally different feel, Polypi is the best ending for this album I could ever ask for. It ties everything into a nice package of bitchin drum kits, plucking synth explosions, and chillaxing beat grids. Take a ride on the soul train into a Psydub, Downtempo experience and enjoy the sexy universe of apparently Six Fingered People. (They must be the runner up band for the aliens in the last song). OVERALL An extremely diverse, talented, and unique group of artists who rest near the lower bpm side of the musical spectrum come together to bring you a brief look into the moments after death. In this “afterlife”, expect anything from soothing pad structures laced with intelligent and advanced synthesizer programming, to funky and quirky idm beat lines meant for moving any head. The album progresses through a wonderful electronic journey that can expand your imagination to its outer limits. Put on your best pair of headphones or blast this in your car on a road trip, the wonderfully played compositions and killer bass leads will tear you up with euphoric joy and inspirational engulfing marches of pure music. As the artwork describes, the psychedelic, downtempo, darkpsy, and idm experience of “Through The Afterlife” is destined to make anyone think. Open your mind and let the powerful masterpieces plant a seed into your brain. Its going to grow into a colorful, abstract tree that holds the very cores and visions each artists holds so dearly to their hearts. And boy, when this tree stops sprouting you will have all of these artistic expressions lined up neatly side by side in an image that can only be described as phenomenal. Have you ever had a permanent idea stuck inside your head because of a discovery? Well, now you do. Take a moment to be taken away to the land after death and breath the world in deep. Your going to love it. 10/10 Download here on Ektoplazm (MP3, FLAC, WAV) - Review by FatKidWitaJetPak (Nick Sumbles) - Special Thanks to Ektoplazm for the download bandwidth. - Special Thanks to James Mccarthy for his incredibly talented artwork! Artist: Amygdala Title: Modus Operandi Label: Ektoplazm Date: December, 2012 01 - Yeheuan Filters (73 BPM) 02 - Ridden By The Loa (66 BPM) 03 - The Construct (Oxylerator III) (136 BPM) 04 - Modus Operandi (140 BPM) 05 - Mindsweeper (142 BPM) 06 - Wintermute (140 BPM) 07 - Business End (134 BPM) 08 - Made Up Mind (130 BPM) 09 - MetaMusic (Reified Mix) (132 BPM) 10 - Simstim (65 BPM) 11 - Enlightenment Cut (60 BPM) 12 - ConunDrum (110 BPM) Wow, where did this come from? This is Andreas Riemer Christensen (is everyone from Denmark named Christensen?) with his debut full length album and it is a futuristic cyber world with incredible atmosphere. Booming drums, dark effects, and an all around eerie feel with crackling electric energy. The first two tracks are downtempo creepy pieces designed to thrust you into this bleak future. Part Matrix part Frontline Assembly. Once The Construct appears it's a scorching goa melody that fits right in with the metallic and cyber heavy world of his making. He's got a great skill of heightening the atmosphere when he goes into the breaks which keeps the listener firmly in his storytelling grasp. What he lacks in melodies he more than makes up for in lush effects and layering. And just when you think you have the track figured out he surprises you. My mind was made up on Made Up Mind as a somewhat groovy minimalistic progressive track when he unleashed the melodies that danced in step with the beat. While not "goa" by today's description it certainly contains goa elements that are fairly easy to pick out. I found that the middle of the album strayed a little from the theme originally presented (Business End was a little too happy & bright) this is still an album that is easy to enjoy. The beginning and ending to me are the most vivid and lush parts of the whole shabang and I would love to hear a low bpm release from him. One of the comments on Ektoplazm about this release hits the nail right on the head: "I can almost see the movie behind the soundtrack" Bingo. Sci-fi fans rejoice! Free at Ektoplazm Mdk

Hey guys. Got a new release on Ektoplazm! Albumpreview: Xenofish returns to Ektoplazm with his fifth album, Enhancer, jointly produced by fellow German producer Mellow Sonic. Whereas previous works strayed more into psychedelic drum ‘n bass territory this one marks a return to high-energy psychedelic trance without completely abandoning breakbeat influences. True to form for these artists the sound of the release is characterized by haunting twilight melodies and strong science fiction atmospheres. Mastering and artwork by Christian Becker. Here the downloadlink: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/xenofish-mellow-sonic-enhancer Wish you all a happy new year!

Artist: Flowertz Title: Avocado EP Label: Ektoplazm Date: March, 2014 1. Avocado 2. FreeForm 3. Psychedelic Dance I don't like avocados. They have a very rich green color and look like they should taste sweet like a fruit. But they don't. F*ck you Subway it's not a super food. It's a super villain food. I even came up with a cool super villain name. The Chameleon. This three track EP is from Italian Gianpiero Fiorelli (like I needed to tell you he was Italian) and it's got some strong bas and head nodding goodness. There are plenty of sounds to enjoy, but it's a little light on evolution. The last track Psychedelic Dance is more of a mid-tempo piece, but it also suffers from the same pitfall. Pretty good EP, but nothing extraordinary. The mastering was done by Colin Oood giving it a rich, warm quality. Still don't like avocados though. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk
