  1. @RTP Can you please re-post or link to the old progressive mixes. Your original post seems to be missing this information. Thank you
  2. Hallucinogen - Live at The DNA Lounge, San Francisco, 2001
  3. Astral Projection - Mahadeva on MP3.com during the dial up internet days....early 2000 I think. That was my first contact but it took a while for me to get into Goa/psytrance because at that time I was mostly listening to normal trance like ATB, Darude, etc. Those were the days...nostalgia
  4. @Ormion and others, Please read this: https://www.npr.org/sections/therecord/2018/01/16/578216674/too-much-music-a-failed-experiment-in-dedicated-listening
  5. Quality over quantity But this is also true. And sometimes a mediocre track (on its own) will sound good if mixed in a DJ set.
  6. Would like to share this orchestra version... epic!
  7. Robert Miles passed away today at the age of 47. This is primarily a Psytrance forum, but the song "Children" is a big and iconic classic of trance music and electronic music in general. This tune was the first one which introduced me to trance. Rest in Peace Robert Miles. Your music shall live forever.
  8. Sony MDR-7506 for psytrance and techno. Earlier I had two pairs of MDR-V6 and both broke. The left driver just went kaput. It's been a year and half now with the 7506 and fingers crossed. These are studio monitor headphones, so the sound is neutral and analytical with good clarity and balanced bass. However, at times they can be sibilant. These are great closed-back headphones under $100. I tried ATH-M50x but they were a bit bass heavy for me. Recently I got the Sennheiser HD650. I use them for ambient / modern classical electronic music. These are laid back and warm / lush sounding with better soundstage and imaging but somewhat lacking in the bass for edm. I switch my headphones depending upon the kind of music I'm listening to.
  9. Mahadeva, no doubt. It was the first AP track I heard on MP3.com in the days of dial up internet.
  10. I also don't like singing in psytrance. I don't even know if such a thing exists, but I like the use of chants/samples. And I shall quote the most popular one: "I believe with the advent of acid. We discovered new ways to think and it has to do with piecing together new thoughts of mind. Why is it that people are so afraid of it? What is it about it that scares people so deeply? Because they are afraid that there is more to reality than they have ever confronted. That there are doors that they are afraid to go in and they don't want us to go in there either because if we go in, there we might learn something that they don't know. And that makes us a little out of their control." ....let the music begin.
  11. This is good stuff. Similar to CBL. Highly recommended.
  12. Not aware of any psytrance radio show where the host talks about music. But you can find 24/7 streaming of psytrance here: http://www.philosomatika.fm/
  13. Listening to this right now. Loving it.
  14. This. And I don't like darkpsy. I guess I must be half-stupid?
  15. I've been listening to music exclusively on headphones since the past couple years. I used to have a nice 2.1 system, with floor standing speakers, but had to sell it as the neighbors started complaining . Now I really miss listening to music loud. Headphones give the intimate feel with more clarity and separation, especially for ambient music, but I miss the feel of music in the body as in the thumping bass. This brings me to what I have noticed. Some songs may not sound as good with headphones but come to life on a 2.1 system. I've started rating the tracks as I listen to them (on headphones) and then make a playlist of my favorites for future listens. The tracks which I've not liked do not make this playlist. Now, I'm wondering if I'm missing out on tracks which may not sound good on headphones but shine on a 2.1 system? Have you experienced anything like this? If so, what is the best way to curate music I wonder. Do you listen to your music using either headphones/2.1 or both headphones and 2.1 system to get the best of both worlds? In any case, how has your listening habit/experience shaped the way you curate your music? Any thoughts appreciated.
  16. You're an Enigma fan? My electronic music journey started from Enigma and led me to trance. Enigma has a special place in my heart.
  17. Free System Projekt - Naiad This is not psytrance, but Berlin-school electronica. Starts out dark and develops into a hypnotic synth pattern.
  18. Oh yes. Implant mag got a new sponsor and is available online to read now. http://goo.gl/DbpYjZ
  19. Yes. The magazine is still available though. You sounded like it was extinct. hmm? http://www.mushroom-magazine.com/
  20. Why is this urgent? May be the sky is falling down!
  21. I enjoyed this album. It's best experienced when listened to as a continuous mix.
  22. Excellent...excellent. What a trip! I liked all tracks. The swirling synth lines in 3 and 4 got me bouncing.
  23. I did not like this album, except for three tracks. Avoid.
