  1. I actually bought the Ufomatka album thinking it was Ubar Tmar, we'll call it a little dizzy fit. But based off the EP I was looking forward to it. Thought another transform was a bunch of wacky fun; will wait to buy the album for a proper review, (Unless Ubo Mars releases an album and I get all confused again).
  2. Artist: Advanced Suite Title: Drifting Release: June 29, 2018 Label: Self Released Tracklist:- 1. Are We Ready Now 2. Cant Complain 3. Dusk Dyea 4. E Lastik 5. Get Movein 6. H Go Lucky 7. It's The End 8. Microdice 9. Right! 10. Sk8'n 11. The Edge 12. The Feets 13. The Kaliedoscope 14. The Underground 15. Tilted Ah, smooth textured daydreams, with hills of the sweetest smelling grass you've ever smelt, trees with the low hanging fruits of temptation, and around it all, oasis' with the coolest mnost pure water you've dipped your little toes into. And what are we doing? Why we are drifting through it all, sometimes bumping along to the dubby atmospheres of ... sometimes seemlessly to the sweet sounds of Are We Ready Know. Only one thing is certain, and that is that Advanced suite has got us covered, nay surrounded and eventually carried away by the cool echoey textured layers of his 15 piece album. Influenced by just about everything, it's hip-hop- it's reggae, it's dub, it's psychedelic, it's gentle. That's right, It's all that. Best summed up by the Bandcamp description:- It’s like a large pot that we all stir. I grab a piece, add my spice. And you do the same. Sometimes I’ll take a spice and add more flavor. And sometimes you do the same. In this way we feed off each other energy. Stirring the pot more and more. Each rotation sets the tempo and tone for the next spice. And each spice sets the tone and tempo for the next rotation. It’s boundary-less. Leaving plenty of room to push the envelope. The opener Are we Ready now is brilliant in showing us what he is capable of doing with sounds and samples. Can't complain is a more focused fluent piece with some hippity hop vocals drifting up and around the other layers. Dusk Dyea not only is a track with a cool name, but also a sparkly, deep bassy dubbed, dance number that gets you moving before you know what's what. Hammocks are over-rated, they take serious practice. So sure, I guess you couuuuld enjoy E Lastik while having a lazy swing, if you've found a spot to practice while none of the dreadlocked masses watch on. Or you could play this sweet little thang poolside while you dip your tootsies in the water. Get Movein has slightly less going for it than the other tracks so far, it feels shorter and doesn't do much to pull me in. Do these track names have a secret meaning? Are they all play on words, I mean some of them i get, but H Go Lucky, I need that explained to me. I don't need anything else however, the track delivers dubby fun all around before it also ends prematurely. It's The End has everything but an exclamation mark going for it. Not sure if i'm going to be delivered a country inspired dub number or a broody space odyssey. You don't have to wait long to find to find out that you can move to this track, though the background sweeps fill the track up just a little too much, i like my iced tea an inch from rim, not overflowing. The little speech and the piano however are nice and after the vocal break i'm back in happy drifting land. Next we get shifted back into the groove with Microdice, a groovy body swaying number that would be perfect for a daytime stomp in the dust. No messing around with the next track as we get """""Right""""" in and out with a 2 minute 41 track that takes me back to the sweet place at the start of the album. If it was just a little longer it'd be a favourite. Sk8'n (I 'get' that one) brings the album back to the soft dub that you can nod your head along to while vocals seep in and out of the other layers, a true dreamy piece of work. The first of the 'The' tracks comes along with The Edge, going in a more upbeat direction, the vocal sample is anything but distracting and worth it for the chants that come later, a great track for a beachside ritual sacrifice. The Feets continues on in a soft sweet dubby fashion with what sounds like some didgeridoo in the background. Set with it's own improper spelling (Hey I ain't no beter) The Kaliedoscope is the sort of happy little song you play on your way home from a 4 day festival in the Australian summer, a calming piece of music. My favourite track from the album The Underground is up next, the 13 seconds of silence at the end might make you think that the album is over but no, you'd be wrong, up comes Tilted another banger of a track that closes the album off nicely. Drifting is a soft airy filled dub piece by Advanced Suite that is true to it's title and description. While the album drops off a little in the middle i would still say its worth more than dribble of your grittle. What I mean is if you like dub and multi genre influenced music then this will be right up your alley. Oh and NYP so go for gold my friends. https://advancedsuite.bandcamp.com/album/drifting
  3. Labels with cool logo's aka NeoGoa should send out labelled USB sticks with either a high quality copy of the album or just empty for users to use. You could get transparent ones with an album name inside or just have your own badass range. I like those bags Psytones, hand made goodness.
  4. Its a thing! Happy I'm not the only one. I have days off too when I need to focus. Love ending a trance drought with some dedicated listening time. @Redo I agree, but then again writing reviews and dj'ing is sort of an excuse to listen more ;). Its all a front.
  5. In the car, in the gym, when I have free time, when I practice the dj'ing and while I drift off to sleep. Too much? Sometimes I wonder if a music addiction is a thing.
  6. Just a heads up that you can now snag this for the sweet price of zilch on Ektoplazm. http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/nibana-earth-from-above

  8. Artist: California Sunshine Title: Bicycle Tune LP Label: Spiral Trax Release: October 19, 2018 Tracklist:- 1. Shining Star 2. Deep Noise 3. Horizon Trip 4. Delusions 5. Bicycle Tune (Adrenaline Drum Remix) 6. Alegro Vivace 7. Backwards 8. Night Shift 9. After Shock I suppose I'm a good person to review the new California Sunshine LP. Having not experienced the wonders of his tracks in the hay day I would say I'm not jaded or doe-eyed. With 4 tracks done with 'The WonderBoy' I would expect a lot of us to be more excited than I've seen. But I'm not the old school guy of the forum so I only know what I've read. To begin with I can't compliment the cover. I can however criticise it. Did a bot auto generate this? The only way I can say that it makes some sort of sense is if it was meant to contain some sort of message of artwork moving from 2d to 3d and then real life. I don't know, I only mention it because I would rather anything else so that I might be able to expect something more from this. Now without any prejudice I might say that the album is not in any way bad. if you want truly fat kicks, solid un-muddled production and easy to follow riddims then you might find yourself enjoying the album. My qualm however is that I'm certain it will be left behind in most peoples 'to listen' list as I just don't see how it would fit into a set or stand up to the quality of trance we see today. It's not quite daytime trance and really at night time I would be much happier listening to something else. What I mean is that this wouldn't make me run to main stage after 34 minutes of convincing my mates to come with me. That leaves another issue, is it main stage trance and if not where does it fit? Well it's not quite main stage material, the kicks, baselines and drive all make it feel that way while the rest of the elements say otherwise. The tracks sort of require you to listen to them from start to finish but have that full-on (mix this to keep me interested) vibe going on. It might be Goa but it just doesn't have enough of the Goa elements that I enjoy to say it really fits in. I mean the production is fine, its chunky and hard hitting but where does it take you? There are of course some notable tracks such as Deep Noise and some parts in Backwards which have a pretty great leads, but overall I feel like the tracks don't keep me entertained for long enough due to them not keeping focus on the parts that make them good. Most of the tracks here, while being enjoyable at parts simply take to long to get to a special place or never get there at all. For this reason I guess this album will be placed pretty low in peoples 'buy list', largely due to a significant output of trance albums over 2018. https://spiraltrax.bandcamp.com/album/california-sunshine-bicycle-tune-lp-spit144-spiral-trax
  9. I had to throw an edit into my review about the mind sphere track after a fresh listen. The secret I suppose is to make it the first Goa trance track you listen to in a headphone sesh. Any way ill repost here just to bump it up. EDIT: On further listens this track is an absolute standout. We should disregard my earlier comments, I don't know what I was thinking. Mindsphere has delivered an absolute wonder of a journey to us. The track isn't exactly the deep deep listening journey we get from a lot of cosmic Goa but instead finds a balance between that and a relentless dancefloor focused wonderland that simply doesn't let up. The thing about a 12 minute track like this is that every time you think that it might end Mindsphere finds a way to keep it going. I wish could I could hear this on a dance floor. While it is tiring to listen to regularly due to the surprises and structure becoming familiar (and it still isn't I just don't want to it become so) I would say it has been a very long time since a track has hit me in this way. The track is a different sort of journey that is going to mean I need to actually get some Mindsphere albums. I was always hoping I could disregard his music just to cut down on the number of artists I need to dig deep into. I now have anew appreciation for Ali's style and won't be album to stay away from old and new releases for long.
  10. Timewarp v4. Looks like it's going to be a blast, looking forward to another Great comp!
  11. A lot of E-Mantra down tempo to get through but i suppose i can start here.
  12. Artist: Zen Baboon & (I think) Zen Racoon Title: Collected Label: Baboon Clinic Release: November 8, 2018 Tracklist:- 1. Chaotic Shapes (Collected Mix) 2. Keep Positive (Remaster) 3. Love Road (Live Edit) 4. Chocolate Sushi (Summer Edit) 5. Fataca Estalaris (Interlude) 6. Baby Bombay (Remaster) 7. Agora (Live Edit) 8. Disjointed life (Boom Edit) 9. Summer Somewhere (Live Edit) 10. Best Days (Tribal Mix) Fresh from the Baboon clinic comes a collection of tracks from previous comps that are yet to reach the dubby pages of Bandcamp. The mixing with organic natural sounds means you have the soft chirrups of birds in your ears while thick dubbed beats surround and carry you away. The only track I've heard before was the original Love Road on the Hommega 20 year comp. With no other knowledge of their works I can say I really did enjoy the experience and will be playing parts of this album to wake up, to bed and for my next autumn walk. In fact if I had to walk through an autumn park for the rest of my life this is probably the soundtrack I would want drifting into my ears. Some tracks are slow and sensual like Chaotic Shapes & Baby Bombay, while others have the full strength of psychedelic downtempo driving them forward like Disjointed Life and plenty of tracks give you both as you'll notice in Summer Somewhere. If darker ominous tracks are your thing then I'm sure you'll enjoy listening to Keep Positive will help rough your positive anti-brooding personality up in just the most enjoyable way. The Love Road (Live Edit) has some extra zips and zaps throughout it that make it different enough from the original and Chocolate Sushi somehow morphs into a track with elements of reggae riddim. Whether its house influenced pulsing songs or silky layers designed to drift you away to calmer places the Baboon Clinic has you covered. All in all every track here is distinct and enjoyable it's hard to pick favourites as a lot of songs are quite apart form one another but the ones I mentioned are definitely up there. Oh did I mention that it is 'Name Your Price'. We call that a bargain where I'm from. https://zenbaboon.bandcamp.com/album/collected
  13. Where do you find most your psybreaks? I use beatport for noem and broken robot but it's such an illusive genre.
  14. Exactly what I came onto the DJ promotion forum to find. Great timing and GREAT mix. Did you do this on edeejay?
  15. This is surely the worst. Non of it fits. And not in an intentional let's be psychedelic and random sort of way. More like a bots first attempt at making an album cover. Not bad music though.
  16. All tracks very good. The intro track by Travma is what got my attention. I liked every aspect of it other than the bassline. I felt like it was going a thousand miles a second while the rest of the track was left behind, this did make it the trippiest track though. I'll listen again. Proxeeus comes out with the best second half of a track I've heard, well since Hall-Lux by Artha. What a track. If his album is anything like that we are going to lose our minds. Every other track is worth a notable mention. Clearly very carefully selected with plenty of crazy moments, some tracks are straight up mind fucks. I hope Melusine records joins the Goa trance team and keeps releasing comps and albums like this. With our support they just might.
  17. Ahp well. I rescind that. Should check my stats. Having been there and spending considerable time in places not made for tourists I will say it has the appearance of a meat centric part of the world. Is it possible people just consume less in general? Hence a lower consumption of meat? Even if not, maybe Australians eat meat in 3 meals a day but south Americans 1 or 2 meals a day, but those meaty meals are pretty essential to culture and economy from what I can tell.
  18. Right you are and a good point. I've just come away from 5 months in South and Central America and I can tell you this is 100% true. vegetarian restaurants don't even exist in non touristy places because it just doesn't make sense for people who work 7 days a week to stop eating the animals that surround and support them. It makes me wonder what to make of the fight for veganism in Australia with its 23 million people when almost 430 million people across the ocean have no hope in hell of turning any time soon. Lucky for us in Australia we have a pretty good solution no one really talks about. It's called Kangaroo, better for you, the environment, impossible to farm and as an actual pest the ecosystem benefits from the hunting of them. Obviously not a solution if the eating of living beings is what irks you.
  19. Someone mentioned on another post that 2018 was the year for Goa. When I read that I thought 'Naw, 2017 can't be beaten'. But I'm wrong 100% the quality and output of albums this year has been next level. Global Sect add another comp into the mix that is going to make it nigh impossible to pick any favourites or a top 10 this year. Magic Mirror - Fiery Dawn brings us into a nice little midtempo something something. Not really in the the same vein as the rest of the album but nice to see Fiery open up the comp all the same. Cianendon (Median Project remix) - Very classic Median project style. Which of course means delight to the senses. Delicate synths and melodies full of power take us so deep into the cosmos that I can almost hear Carl Sagan. Hidden Waves - Goasia continues with the space vibes introducing us into a melody and thumping kick drum nice and early. But it doesn’t stop there, the track constantly develops further and further into euphoria with mystical melodies topping it all off. A Fav. Heaven and Earth - The track where Median Projects album really takes off has been remixed by Omneom. Omneom has taken out some the atmospheric mysticism of the original, pumped the kick and bassline up and just reworked it into his own thing. A blazing THIC dance floor remix. Namaskara Mantra II - I was super excited for a second edition of the mantra and thought it was interesting to see it on the Globel Sect comp rather than Mamoman one the same week. Share the love baby. I wasn't super impressed by the first half but Zopmanika knows how to deliver and delivers big for the second half of the track. Shambala - is it a Global Sect comp if Centevra doesn't pop in for a track? And what a track. The short little intro sets the scene for a delightful extravaganza of a track. As always Centevra takes us deep into space with more than hint of trippy psychedelic madness. Scarab - The goa output machine delivers us a wild screeching banger of a tune. Did anyone else find the intro weird? Never mind that, it all works out and comes together in a wild wild ride. I also I've been noticing a little extra breakbeat through his tracks lately. I must say it works well, I am a fan. Floating in a Wide-Screen - I feel like the track comes on a little to strong at the start. I mean I know we are talking about music that is ultra melodic, layered and moves at about 145 bpm but still. Luckily the track finds it’s legs after the first little break and turns into a stormer. With over 12 minutes the track could do more to help you get lost in it, but with a little effort it is possible. EDIT: On further listens this track is an absolute standout. We should disregard my earlier comments, I don't know what I was thinking. Mindsphere has delivered an absolute wonder of a journey to us. The track isn't exactly the deep listening journey we get from a lot of cosmic Goa but finds a balance between that and a relentless dancefloor focused wonderland that simply doesn't let up. The thing about a 12 minute track like this is that every time you think that it might end Mindsphere finds a way to keep it going. I wish could I could hear this on a dance floor. While it is tiring to listen to regularly due to the surprises and structure becoming familiar I would say it has been a very long time since a track has hit me in this way. Neighbour - Holy Jesus. For real what a track. What a closer, so many tracks on this comp that i thought were my favourite until I listened to the next track. And Astrancer continues the trend. A blasting track that fits perfectly into the Global Sect style and the rest of the tracks. There are simply to many comps in the last two months for me to go ahead and pick a favourite. Global Sect is completely ahead of the space trance game right now and a solid label to turn to when you feel like getting lost. https://globalsect.bandcamp.com/album/va-shambhala
  20. So that's the secret to listening to Demon Tea releases! I shoulda guessed tbh.
