  1. If you manage to make a deep mix of new music you might restore my fate in psytrance. Good luck! You probably consider the below recommendations to be too old (2005-2006), but they would fit well with that SBK track: Midimiliz - Non standards Kino Oko - Lost Entertainment Triac - Mean Between V/A - Refresh - Aeon Records V/A - Rewired - Jester Records V/A - Abracadabra
  2. Kruder & Dorfmeister – The K&D Sessions The Irresistible Force - It's Tomorrow Already V/A – Cold Krush Cuts V/A - Tone Tales from Tomorrow V/A - Tone Tales from Tomorrow 2 If you want more check out the label Ninja Tunes, they're the equivalent of TIP or Dragonfly.
  3. You should all read The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test if you haven't read it.
  4. I've listened to your mix several times this week and I like it a lot. Good track selection and flow. Recommended.
  5. Yeah, it's terrible isn't it? Seriously, pick a random psytrance cover from any year post 2000 and there's a good chance it's some lame fantasy-sci-fi-futuristic-matrix-photoshop shit. Compare some recent techno cover art with some recent psytrance cover art. Psytrance cover art sucks 99 % of the time. Judging by the samples it feels tired and uninspiring.
  6. It's just January and already there's a contender for worst cover art of 2011.
  7. Nice topic Ormion! Here are some favourites of mine: Eco - Delhi Dancer http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCT2pDzP0Pk Hiscore - Identify Amazing track! http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHg9D2V0dA8 And two pure dark psychedelic tracks that are not on Youtube: Universal Island - M.Stick Nucleus - Spooked
  8. A great album! Kind of reminds of Koyote records sound. I wish there were more twisted melodic releases like this one.

Thanks for the recommendation! I love it, one of the top albums of the year.

    Gappeq

I'll check out his compilation tracks. I'm looking for organic, living, breathing music, be it dark, twisted or melodic, but Gappeq's style strikes me as the exact opposite.
  11. I used to think that Gappeq was the most exciting new artist. Whenever he released a new track I would track it down, and I was always disappointed that such a great track was released on compilations with (at best) generic tracks. His debut album was the biggest disappointment in recent years, and his new album, Made of Clay, is another disappointment. His sound used to be psychedelic and full of great melodies, twists and turns, but then he went dark and removed the melodies, or at best, minimized their presence. Don't get me wrong, this is not about the melodies, but about what used to be an artist with a sound. If someone were to play some of his earlier tracks such as Birth of the Dragon, One Soul or Theory of Everything you would easily recognize any of them again. If someone were to play you any of his new dark tracks chances are you would not recognize them again. I love artists that dare to explore their creativity and evolve their sound, but in this case his new dark sound is not even close to be as great as his old sound. I don't know what I'm getting at, I guess I'm just sad that what used to be a great act is now lost in a harsh and completely dead soundscape. RIP
  12. Great video!
  13. Has anyone heard this release? Solaris - And I Will Turn Their Morning Into Joy What's it like?
  14. The Burning Man '96 set is good, but Koxbox live at Hyperstate '98 is absolutely amazing. It's the best recorded psytrance liveset I've ever heard. All tracks blend together perfectly, the basslines are huge and there's a great in-the-moment live feel to all of it. Amazing!
  15. Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. It is a very dark and demanding book, but amazing at parts.
  16. I'm writing this with a big smile on my face, what a great and positive guy and his music is just wonderful! Thanks for the recommendation.
  17. Like it!
  18. I was disappointed by Da Budet because it felt too digital/sharp. Tanetsveta on the other hand is an instant masterpiece with its warmer, complex, warped and beatiful sound.
  19. Brain scientist Jill Bolte Taylor once had a stroke, and during that episode she had an amazing experience. I think that many of you will find that here experience was very similar to the psychedelic experience. She did however recover from the stroke and being a brain scientist she pondered about her experience. In the video below she explains the experience: Jill Bolte Taylor's Stroke of Insight Please, moderators, this video is something of the ordinary and probably of interest to many, so don't move it to off-topic.
  20. I liked your mix a lot, great flow and track selection. Will listen to your other mixes too.
  21. I'm glad some of you liked Fontän. That Yellow Moon Band tune was great, I listened to some more of their tunes on youtube, really great stuff. I will definitely get their album. More recommendations like Yellow Moon Band and Fontän are appreciated.
  22. is a Swedish psychedelic electronic rock band, or what ever you would call Younger Brother. Fontän's emphasis is on the rock part, but the electronics are clearly present. I'm not a big rock fan and I dislike the heavy use of guitars in Ozric Tentacles. Fontän has however managed to strike a nice balance between laid back rock and electronic music. Their debut album, Winterwhila, was one of last years best albums: http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFdkkkiDEZA You can also listen to the album at Spotify (application installation needed). Hope you like it.
  23. I'm sure Mars and the rest of us will be just fine with 320kbps MP3. :-) If you're an XP or Vista user you could use Audacity to record it to WAV and then convert it to FLAC.
  24. Posford sometimes starts his Hallucinogen live sets with a remix of Pink Floyd's On The Run.
  25. I thought I had tracked down all D5 tracks, but this one was new to me. Thanks for sharing Tom, good stuff!
