  1. I found this great Tripiatrik live set at Youtube: It's actually a mix of mostly Paps and Yumade tracks, and one Tripiatrik track, nonetheless, great stuff. I was a bit surprised by a comment: Pierre Busson, aka Yumade, is currently making disco flavored electronic music as Yuksek. And he's doing really good judging by the number of streams: What other psytrance artists have managed to transition to other genres and become successful? The only other example I can think of is Infected Mushroom.
  2. I didn't think there was anything old school out there to be discovered, but there was. I recently stumbled over The Spirit Dance album by Imago, and I quite like it. Not all tracks are winners, but The Black God, Azure Heaven, Angels of Peace, Wild E and Galactic Answer are certainly worthy of your attention. The album is available on Spotify. Turns out they are Swedish, which makes me even more surprised, how did they not get more attention? Can't recall I've ever heard about them. Maybe the album was considered to be too much "goa"? Back in 1997, when the album was released, most labels and listeners (me included) were more interested in the more psychedelic and less melodic sounds from TIP and Flying Rhino. Looking back, it's certainly an underrated album. Imago were three guys: Jesper Ahlström, Per Stålbrand and Johan Löfstedt. I dug up some of their other projects of interest. Jesper and Per released a four track EP on Why Not Records in 1996, as Choreus. Why Not was the label responsible for the Destination Goa series. I've found two of the tracks on YouTube: I believe the track Creative alternative by Exotic is well known by most old school lovers. It's made by Jesper and Leo Bergman aka Spindrift: Jesper and Per collaborated with Swedish house and techno pioneer Jesper Dahlbäck as Axxess Granted and released a track called The Guide, released on the Nordic Rave compilation. Any way, I think these guys deserve more attention.

  3. A really great unofficial Isiteshi remix of Shpongle's Divine Moments of Truth: I believe we need a Shpongle in Forest remix album.
  4. It's not often there's a new post from Hallucinogen @ Facebook, but a couple of days ago it happened. Posford posted a link to a dj set by boom boom techno dj ANNA and was some what upset of a lame remix of Gamma Goblins. He wanted to know who was responsible for it. Turned out it was ANNA's boyfriend Wehbba, but she claimed it's not a remix, but an original track. Someone wrote that there's a "gamma goblin" preset on a synth called Polybrute, so Wehbba probably used that preset, not knowing it's importance for the psytrance crowd. That could have been case closed, but someone posted a clip from an old Brian De Palma movie called Sisters from 1972, and accused Posford of hypocrisy: Posford is born in 1971, so it's not unlikely he saw the movie in his teens and maybe the melody stuck with him. Fast forward to the mid 1990's and that melody resurfaces in his mind and becomes one of the best psytrance tracks out there. Or maybe it was a rip off. We will not know until Posford replies, and so far he hasn't.
  5. The source of the track has been identified. It's from a John Fleming mix, and it's labelled as an Astral Projection track called Structural Schematics (starts at 52.07). A Fleming remix of Mahadeva was released back in 2004 and he's one of the most well known trance djs, so it's not unlikely that he had access to unreleased AP material.
  6. You seriously need to rebrand your label, Goapsyrecords, it's hard to imagine a more generic name. On Spotify the album you're promoting is called DarkPsy Journey in Multiverses (Psytrance experience). Sorry, judging by the name of your label and the name of the album, I would asume this is 100 % generic and soulless music.
  7. In this Etnica live set, there are two remixes of old time classic: Technossomy's Elektron Bender och Sheyba's Trance Africa Express. It made me dream that Etnica would release a Goa Classics Remixed album just as Astral Projection did. What old time classics do you think would be suitable for an Etnica treatment? Here are some suggestions from me: Chakra - Hallucinator Kailash - Higher MFG - Shape the Future Power Source - Skywalker Slinky Wizard - Funkus Munkus (already sounds like it could be an Etnica track) Witchcraft - Whale

This one was new to me, a Pleiadians remix of Elektron Bender from 2018:

Of course, Domestic & Space Cat remixed the remix, but the Shamanix track is still from 1995.

Ah, the good old days! I was a regular on that mailing list. I vaguely remember the conversation you're referring to, and I definitely remember Simon's presence. I thought I had saved all mails from that era, but it seems I can't find any mails from Simon. No results on whiningtrancer@yahoo.com, and as far as I can recall he used to sign his emails with "Si", but no luck. It would be excellent if we could find that e-mail. This is important background information. Seems like I only have e-mails from 2006 and onwards. Probably lost the rest when I switched to gmail. 😞 @ukiro, do you have a complete 604 mailing list archive?
  11. Now I hear what you're getting at! This definitely has more of an AP vibe than his latest album. Let's hope he replies back to you. Even a negative reply is positive when trying to identify an unknown track. 🙂

Are you sure about that? The only released Gumbo track is The Quickening and it sounds nothing like Shamanix. Google returns nothing relevant. I've asked both ChatGPT and Bard and neither are aware of a track called "'Song of the Shaman' or 'Dance of the Shaman' or some shit." I thought I knew all Posford tracks so I'm naturally curious about this track.

  15. His current sound is too intense, I don't think it aligns with the mystery unreleased track. I'm not familiar with Skarma's older output, but I listened to the album you suggested and it lacks melody, and what's special about this unreleased track is the melody.
  16. A new Hallucinogen track and zero replies. This forum is pretty much dead.
  17. I agree 0:50-2:21 doesn't sound like typical AP, but the rest could be AP. I've sent a message to Avi Nissim @ FB and asked him about the track. Not expecting a reply, but worth a try.
  18. Hallucinogen & Supermodule - Kaleidosonic. I just love Simon's basslines. Release date is today, but it's neither available on Spotify nor Soundcloud. ...and now it's been published at Youtube:
  19. It's a great track, but I doubt it's an Astral Projection track from 2003. It's not reminiscent of their sound back then. If it is a 20 year old AP track I think we should have heard it in their live sets. I could be of their newer tracks, at least I'm hoping it is. Hopefully that talked about upcoming album will be released, and this track will be on it. Or maybe it has been reworked into another track. I'm just guessing, nevertheless, great track!

How about 27 years? Pretty much anything old compared to anything new will have deeper bassline and a more pronounced kick drum.
  21. I've made the playlist public in case anyone wants to follow it.
  22. I was planning on creating a post just like yours. 🙂 Lunarave is the best thing to happen to psytrance in many years, his sound is actually psychedelic and there are some minor melodies sprinkled all over. His sound and technique has really developed over the years. I personally prefer his current sound (think Transmigration album and onward) over this older tracks. I've been following him for a couple of years and I have playlist with what I consider to be his best tracks: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/14aSgFTOuBrfavqh5iVleO?si=61c08f8a4fb34b25&pt=ae5f74c83c23e4a19d3997b9d2b1e7a8

  25. I just stumbled over this excellent banger: It's credited as being a Darshan track from 1998, but it's not a released Darshan track. He was very popular back in the day so I doubt a banger such as this one would remain unreleased. Especially since both DAT Records, Suntrip Records and Anjuna Records are on a mission to dig up unreleased rare tracks. The track doesn't sound like his known released tracks from that era. Maybe it's something (unreleased?) by ECT, Microdome or Psychogenetic Soundforce. Anyway, excellent track! Can anyone identify it? I would love to see it properly released and with better sound quality.
