    Solar Fields - Ourdom

Artist: Solar Fields Title: Ourdom Label: Sidereal Records Date: March, 2018 1. Burning View 2. Shifting Nature 3. Into The Sun 4. Forgiveness 5. Mountain King 6. Wave Cascade 7. Moving Lines 8. A Long Tailed Bird Whispered 9. Joshua's Shop 10. A Green Walk 11. Parallel Universe 12. The Daylight Carrier 13. Siren Song of Glass Some artists are so deeply connected with a genre that they essential become the face (sound?) of that genre. There are many artist who make downtempo music, but say the name Solar Fields and you understand what you're going to get. Magnus Birgersson from Sweden has been doing this for quite some time and his albums are markers in the chronological history of downtempo music. Any artist would be happy with a genre defining album to their credit yet each new offering from Magnus seems to be that way. His latest however doesn't leave me with the same awe that his previous albums had. That said, I find myself being carried away with his descriptive soundpicture layered with many details ranging from the gentle flutter of electronics to the powerful and majestic. The listing says there are 13 tracks, but I only hear one, deeply immersed in a flowing menagerie that consciously moves from uplifting to a introspective mindstate. Into the Sun is a distinctly positive and hopeful march into the many wonders this world possesses as Forgiveness almost impossibly slowly illustrates the freeing power of letting go. As the tracks seamlessly meld into each other Mountain King is a lengthy almost 15 minute wonder that doesn't establish its identity until well past the 5 minute mark. A progressive rambler that takes flight gently and creates a floating atmosphere bookended by a delicate ambient intro and outro. Due to the length of it Wave Cascade feels like and ambient interlude before another more aggressive and less appealing Moving Lines kicks in. Joshua's Shop gets back to the positivity of previous tracks, while Parallel Universe could be the darkest track on the album. The Daylight Carrier is more aligned with the early tracks of the album and he closes with the beatless ambient of Siren Song. Mastered by Robert Elster the music sounds fantastic further adding to the experience. As I've mentioned with previous Solar Fields albums I feel his strength is the downtempo arena and less when he employs the progressive stomping. His music just seems to breathe and stretch more with a slower bpm. This album could've easily been a disjointed collection of tracks in the hands of a less skilled electronic musician, but he manages to keep things connected by building bridges between tracks instead of walls. So I would say it's a great journey with a few minor flaws. Solar Fields Bandcamp Sidereal (digipak)

  3. Maiia303 – Goasana Tracklist: 01. Short Way To Stars 02. Kick Out Your Demons 03. Goasana Bandcamp Release info: Mystic Sound Records presents a new mini-album of one of the label founders, Maiia303 – “Goasana”. Maiia303 is a side project of Alla Vagner, the author of the chillout project Maiia. Her project Maiia303 is inspired by legendary Man With No Name and timeless psychedelia of the global electronic music that was expanding in the 90s, and she tried to create the music clearly for the dancefloor with today’s production standards. This music is an unexpected mix of seemingly different styles of music, from Breakbeat to old school Acid House, from already classic Goa Trance to atmospheric Psy Progressive. 3 tracks of “Goasana” are cooked in a trippy psychedelic style – 2 tracks are 120 bpm Goachill and the 3rd one, ‘Goasana’, is 145 bpm melodic Goa-trance. Powerful beats, rich basslines, bright melodies and, of course, the sounds of the legendary TB303 carry away on an exciting journey. You will find an exciting fresh sound for the dancefloor in this EP. Listen, dance and enjoy!

    Escape Into - The Drama

Album: The Drama Artist: Escape Into Genre: Progressive, Full-On, Suomi Label: Ektoplazm and Enlight Records Mastering: Colin Bennun Size: 85MB License: CC Price: Free and Donations Track List: 01 - The Professor 02 - Come With Me 03 - H.N.I 04 - The Ziggurat Of Wondrous Wonder 05 - Outro The Drama contains melodic curves of brain shifting frequencies that delight musical cravings, yet they push hard against the boundary walls inside our heads. With intensified, ever-shifting waterfalls of progressive euphoria, a climactic, unexpected, and eye-widening-ear-widening-soul-widening electronic implosion sends brains into star clusters. This album will take you away on a dramatic journey accompanied by a heartwarming orchestra of soothing percussion, passionate and loving piano leads, and elegant energy at every beat. The innovation is outstanding. The vibes are extreme. This album is easily top of the charts, skyrocketing up a staircase of encompassing musical accomplishments that pay close attention to detail and mood. There is not a single second within this marvel I do not enjoy. From the first intro in "The Professor," I knew this album was going to be ridiculously entertaining. Escape Into uses a fresh and interesting recording of a man taking a sit at his piano to begin crafting the visions inside his head. The recording sounds up close and real, and then it uses the tune from the white and black instrument to start off the track. I have heard many attempt this style in the past, but it is rare to hear it done so well. The three dimensional sound is deep and full, taking me into the experience destined. This is where I simply can not stop listening. Every second, a new and interesting idea is born from seemingly nothing. It just pops up, grabs a hold of my body, and shakes me up like never before. This is what we like to call "dancing". I haven't heard a style this diverse in a very long time. From the "get him a glass of water" voice samples from "H.N.I," to the quirky introduction followed by a full-on sub bass with zips and zaps in "The Ziggurat Of Wondrous Wonder". Nostalgic Goa drum lines, Progressive euphoric trance melodies, Classical influences, Full-On Morning and Twilight raging dance patterns, and entirely new concepts are sewn together to build a totally game-changing twist of wonderful perfection. The mood is sweetly amusing. Is this my world as a child? Is it what I feel in my dreams? Is this a recording of a distant glowing planet flying at the speed of light through space? Whatever the case, it is dramatic sound in its finest form. The outro makes me tear up, using downtempo brilliance expected only from the masterminds of the trance community. Yet, in the midst of a free online culture, I find a particular gem in a field of treasure. It is so small, yet its twinkle shines through the darkness to bring a bright and lovely shine into my life. I feel the urge to get up and dance through the night like there is no tomorrow. I am getting lost in a soundscape of harmony with this album. I do not know what else to say, other than I will definitely keep this close to my favorites until the day I die. Download this album immediately, it will well be worth it. Take the normal drama out of your life and inject this into your veins. Your gonna love it. 10/10 Download here on Ektoplazm (MP3, FLAC, WAV) - Review by FatKidWitaJetPak (Nick Sumbles) - Special Thanks to Ektoplazm for the download bandwidth. - Special Thanks to Carol Porto for his incredibly talented artwork!

    VA - Psychedelic Depths

Artists: Various Title: psychedelic Depths Label : Manifold Studios and Ektoplazm Release: 2018 Tracklist: - 01 - Cybered & Opsy - Chidlren Of Paradise (138 BPM) 02 - Sulima - Cybertech (141 BPM) 03 - Manifold - Time For The Heist (142 BPM) 04 - Cybered & Sulima - Sweaty Brains (140 BPM) 05 - Himmelkompass - Fabula (135 BPM) 06 - Cold Project - All Of The Stuff (137 BPM) 07 - Faxi Nadu & Algae Bloom - Deep Rescue (130 BPM) 08 - Mediatek - Joolsoon (130 BPM) 09 - Spatial Feature - Jankia (132 BPM) 10 - Quite-K - Echoes (132 BPM) Oh look it's Ektoplazm, let’s see what 2018 has had them bring to us. Darkpsy, hi-tech, full-on, techno, techtrance, techtrance. Techtrance it is. The Russian Manifold Studio and Ektoplazm team up to give us a compilation of spicy zesty music. The comp starts fast ranging from 138 all the way up to 142 (WOAH!). I don’t listen to a lot of techtrance so i can’t say if it’s unique or not but it certainly has a strong psychedelic edge, very smooth transitions and really cool progression. Each song takes you somewhere different but vaguely familiar (Think energy charged dreamscapes) . Tracks 5 - 10 slow it right down but still reach the extra techy biosphere. Faxi Nadu is a nice surprise, teaming up with Algae Bloom to drop it down to 130 bpm. Most tracks are pretty dark and made for long drives down computer generated, electroluminescent polygonic roads. Like Tron, or that highway in the Netherlands. Take your pick. Depending on what you like i’m sure a song or two will stand out here, for me it was the faster 1st half of the comp. If this is what a Russian takeover sounds like, i’m not objecting yet. I grant it four hammer and sickles ☭☭☭☭ You can get it free via Ektoplazm or Name your Price over at Bandcamp http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/psychedelic-depths https://manifoldstudio.bandcamp.com/album/psychedelic-depths

    Fabio Fusco - Therapy

Artist: Fabio Fusco Title: Therapy Label: Spin Twist Records Date: 24 November 2017 Tracklist 1. Be with you 2. Hologramm 3. Therapy 4. Distorted reality 5. Travelling lights 6. I see the future 7. Forget about everything 8. Neelix - People (Fabio Fusco remix) 9. Freakquency 10. Out of control When it comes to progressive clubby trance Fabio Fusco does it best. I've had the pleasure of seeing him and Moon in Melbourne a few years ago, my friends still weren't sold on psy trance, I assured them Fabio & Moon would change their mind. Of course Tsotsi was right. Unlike some prog out there which is made to sound like prog, Fabio uses the same instruments and sounds to make tracks to set the dance floor alight. A dj could play each of these tracks without having to touch the decks once. each act of the song changes quickly enough that you never get bored of a repetitive 128 bar 'dugga dugga'. The breaks come quickly and the builds are just perfect. The album has an atmospheric darkness to it that like everything else in each of the tracks, makes it perfect for a club dance floor. As I said I've seen him perform live and I can tell you that the set was 100% fun from start to finish. Therapy is no different, with the albums title track 'therapy' being my favourite (Beatports too for a short while) 'be with you' 'I see the future' and 'out of control' 'Travelling Lights' coming up close behind. If you like clubs, if even a little bit of you likes prog, or if you like music that sounds like its been spun by a top dj, this album might tickle some part of you. I rate it 5 red bull vodkas. https://www.beatport.com/release/therapy/2154820

The album contains oldiesoundi tracks all in the spirit of Goa trance, Trance, Techno'id, House, Funk, Jam, Ambient, a gram of Hip Hop .. and Downbeat and Yeah, Psy-Trance. A well mixed batch of varied track selection. I'm positive you'll dig 'em Full of charm, but not so contemporary or present if you will.. KER's next releases will however escalate towards the modern present. No worries Why the need for a shout out here in the fundraiser section? 18. That's my second EP at Gert Sound Records, three tracks combining progressive, full-on and uplifting trance elements. Track list 1. Soul Of The Machine (137 bpm) 2. Morning Wake Up (vs MTR) (140 bpm) 3. Andromeda Nebula (146 bpm) https://www.beatport.com/release/soul-of-the-machine/2167570 You may preview the full EP in the above video, though the sound quality in it is not very high (128 kbps I guess), the label doesn't allow posting high quality audio of full-length tracks. There is also a respective playlist on my soundcloud but it contains preview versions which I have mastered by myself, the release is mastered in a pro studio. Also special thanks to Antic604 who helped me to finish the third track (he didn't participate directly in the track writing/production process but his advices on the intermediate versions which I posted here were quite helpful)

    Perfect Blind - Stratum

Artist: Perfect Blind Title: Stratum Label: BMSS Records Date: September, 2017 01. Stratum IX 02. Manifest Destiny 03. Ancient Machinery 04. Last Torch of a Dying Star 05. Burning Mass (feat. Jay Kay) 06. Foreseen Consequences 07. Escape Velocity 08. The Expanse (Spaced Out) 09. Abyssentient 10. The Long Silent Igor Čeranić otherwise known as Deimos and Perfect Blind has produced a lot of material as well as been the guy you could count on making other artist's work sound great. I've said it before, but he could do the mastering on my toaster and have it sound competent. I first heard his work as Perfect Blind with the stunning Three Spires Ep which you can download in all its FLAC goodness for free from Ektoplazm. He treads in various genres and has shown proficiency in all of them. Industrial influences abound within this dark and brooding album. He is the anti-Ultimae with sharp edged and rumbling waves of sound in a Orwellian post apocalyptic world. Tracks could have easily come from the minds at Cold Meat Industry as the desolation sticks to the skin like burning cinders. Long intros illustrate a panoramic grey landscape with lush textures. Ancient Machinery reveals the tools of a bygone age wet with corrosion and seeping with forlorn mechanical regret. Last Torch of a Dying Star with its thunderous percussion draws the lines of warring tribes readying themselves for conflict. Burning Mass is the result of that conflict with its distortion soaked guitar and blistering volume. Forseen Consequences surveys the charred battlefield steeped in loss and regret as the battle all but blotted out the sun leaving only mottled grey clouds. The Expanse is as boundless as its namesake while Abyssentient continues down the long road of human destruction. The Long Silent bears witness to what we have done. This is so f*cking interesting and descriptive it invites you to create your own futuristic movie. People please pay attention to this. I don't believe it's hyperbolic to say that Igor is our generation's Tim Schuldt. When music can evoke crystal clear images and an emotional response that's when you know the height of the art form has been reached. Drawing on industrial influences he creates a world I hope we never see yet at the same time I must see. Stratum is a special piece of music best enjoyed at full volume, listened all the way through when you have ample time to devote to it. Brilliant and breath taking and oh so vast in scope. P.S. I haven't heard the bonus Ep so therefore I cannot comment on it. Perfect Blind Bandcamp
