  1. Nice one first 2 parts mainly about industrial beginnings later docu focusses on NIN(7! parts) Here a Berlin Tresor docu (about Techno mainly I guess)
  2. Oldie but goldie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1bUnWeMNHU
  3. Firstly they seem not to be known well in Europe (but I also cannot really judge it, cause I don´t listen radio,TV or read charts lists etc.) Secondly guess they have some good promo company and maybe got lucky too. Sometimes one big live act can make you known to the public or one TV appearance etc. Thirdly the aren´t Psytrance or even Elektro anymore from what I heard of newer stuff. Sure they still have such songs but I guess the popular ones are those the strange vox and guitars etc. Fourth, they weren´t that good (for my taste) even back in the day, so that might help too. Note that some (most) charts mucis isn´t that good from musical standpoint (it is produced well however mostly and has huge promo thigns running).. I find it more surprising that M.Manson or Rammstein got so big, cause they aren´t normally that mainstream sounding or looking. But guess mainstream needs some spooks from time to time, too. The poster above: Find it not surprising they are popular in oriental countries cause they sound a bit like this, don´t they? Well ok, the one guitar I heard could be also spanish but very well oriental style too.
  4. Good or at least acceptable mastering is not rocket science (or Hexenwerk as we say) anymore I think....so it´s strange that so many still get it wrong... msot famous exmaple maybe Metallica "Death Magnetic" (well not that it was a great album, but the better tracks also ruined by too much loudness). I could tell countless examples how about a total fuck up ? Listen too early Mayhem lol (I mean the real early stuff). But that was punky blackmetal so excuseable. I haven´t heard much newer psy stuff so can´t now what´s bad there, but think some of the early stuff of course was quite weak, while probably much newer stuff is too "strong" (following loudness war). Will listen to some examples in this thread later. I want to say, that MIXING is the science, mastering a good mix is quite easy. Mastering a bad mix will not fix the mix
  5. Guess if u put together 2-3 from 3-4 of his latest albums you will get a great one Check in the reviews section tho, I found most of his stuff there.
  6. Still looking, I travel top Berlin every other 3-4 months or so lol. Also old-timer live now in Westfalen tho In the pretty wooded Siegerland... what style you like to make. I would like industrial-blackmetal
  7. Actually my project is named ALPHA QUADRANT - but guess it´s not for pure psy/goa lovers but most newer songs have some influences of it. It is a mixture from these styles as well Industrial, Dark - Ambient and Experimental.... Also I am not a "producer" but guess I add my project here still.. I wasn´t active for a while tho...... Artist wiki: http://www.last.fm/music/Alpha+Quadrant/+wiki You Tube (actually I started uploading some other songs too except mine) https://www.youtube.com/user/UsoundsGermany/videos Here some examples: This is where I see the future of the "helltrance" style: Needs a bit more refinement, but it is the direction I am looking for From middle phase (oldschool elektro/amient with ooomph) Very old, from 1st project with other guy (was an EP release 12 yrs ago) Newest remix (from Portion Control EBM fathers) Re-mastering and adding ooomph (oldschool dark-ebm hit)
  8. Whow a lot of Deja Vu on here at least for indus/ebm/psy listeneres.........guess the guitar driven songs can be routed to Ministry also to guitar stuff by FLA (eg. Millenium album). Other than guess he listens a lot to dark-electro bands like S.Commando, Hocico and the like Which is not a bad thing. I guess the dancefloor Hocico songs would be a good comparison however cause of not much psy and more aggro in case of H. it is not really comparable. But close imo Or Taktical Sect ? Anyway I find this a bit less intriguing than the other album I have (Cassandras Nightmare)... First 2-3 tracks are quite killer but it get´s weaker imo. Still 7/10 and I agree that FLA is a bit better lol But I am oldtime fan of Bill&Co. so comparison is not fair...
  9. Ha, lol ur the man Btw. any info on the audio quality of the older tracks compared to originals. Today they sound a bit thin, guess he has corrected this here ?
  10. Well stumbled recently over this @ YT and took a listen. Must agree with others here, heard first 3 tracks and skipped to some parts of the others but it´s not that great. I guess he has humour or is sarcastic with the album name However has a lot´s of views masses seem to like it for some reason. From the little bit I heard 4/10
  11. Not IM fan, except one album which I like "The Gathering".... this one is quite bad tbh. Only 1 good track (3), 2-3 tolerable ones but I generally don´t like their style and high pitched stuff etc... 4/10 However of course this is also quite an odd mixture and somehow experimental - this I can admire.
  12. Well review on page 1 is a bit harsh is it ? I am really positive in putting out serious critic to half baked music. However here it is only partly deserved. Tracks 1&2 are actually quite cool, ok, I don´t like the fades in/outs that much also the bass could better.BTW: The "preachy bitch" sounds like Anne Clark? 3 seems a bit weaker than the first - still listenable - but loses energy somehow over time.. 4 is ok, better than 3 imo cause adds some more sounds at 2nd half 5 well quite boring tbh also again these annoying slowdowns/fades (whatever u name it) 6 same as before but added some weak geetar, not a fan 7 mediocre 8 don´t like the geetar and/or the way it is played cause I think the rockish stuff does not fit (other style guitar might be ok like some rare examples) 9. see 7 10. quite cool So 1,2,4,10 are good tracks at least. 6,5/10
  13. 7,88/10 However the reviewer above was right that 2-3 tracks seem pointless....
  14. Did not like the 1st one but this is much better 8/10, but really it IS a bit too monotone imho....
  15. One of the best "dark goa" albums probably -8.5/10 only because it has some lentghts...
  16. @ MDK " Qualität Im Quadrat" is German actually not Swedish.... Also I think this one is a nice progressive release which flows a bit like lava sometimes, but overall more than good 8/10
  17. Found this CD in between the "metal" category (they sorted it there cause there is a deathmetal band with same name I guess). However this one is better than the DM one. Even if it is a bit too monotone for my taste it´s nice heavy and dark, so 8,5/10
  18. Agree with most reviews, discovered this a month or so ago.... had only an MP3 before. Can find weak points, maybe the sound could be better (a bit muddy, but perhaps they wanted it that way adding to darker mood?) and also there are 2-3 average songs (Voices is mediocre and Sunshine only above average). The rest is cool 9/10
  19. Agreed with others opinions 9/10
  20. Actually I found this forum while googling for MFG reviews. I came across this album because was looking for darker goa (I had 2 MP3s from this band, but forgot about them) Recently I re-discovered them and checked online for more. Found all the albums at youtube. However it seems only Pr. Genesis album has the style I was looking for. This one is nice too, but nothing special imho. It´s more on the "trippy" side I think... Project Genesis is much better imo. This one sadly would get´s max. 7/10 from me.... need to check their album after Genesis now, but guess they won´t stand up.
  21. Only have track no. 1 this one must be one of the first goa-tracks I actually bought (on some sampler) while I got much stuff before from 2 friends on tape back in the days.. It seems they now do more ethno-ambient stuff, right?
  22. Have this as a Cd, but it get´s quite dated now....seems the long time appeal is not as good as certain other tech-trance stuff 7/10
