  1. Rings Of Saturn is nice, but Waayyy to technical for my taste. Rather like a mixture of tech and "normal" DM eg. How about good old esoteric deathdoom:
  2. Cheesy and Flipper - I guess that is also what comes to my mind.... the "Flipper" sounds you describe is a good example and this is also something which put´s me off other goa/psy: high pitched and "cheesy" sounds.....compared to AP they had much better sounds, also bass is better in AP´s caase imho. Mahadeva one of the songs which got me in goa... apart from E.Unviverse, Men With No Name etc. But not IM I liked Prana also quite a bit, but it has lost on me, I guiess also cause of the "cheese" factor....But I admit that "pure" goa nowadays is quite boring to me. Strangely the progressive direction got not so "old" so fast like AP or IM....but I discovered that direction of course a bit later. I hated it first cause I thought it is more techno-ish...... ... still some AP´s are listenable compared to IM: I mean Mahadeva not really get´s old, right? Trust In Trance -> better than anything IM lol
  3. Sure the show must be cool.Still interesting that even int the UK and USA they are so well received considering they don´t like German bands or lyrics generally. Even Kraftwerk made english versions of their songs.
  4. ? I know it´s old but don´t want to buy a Mac or another sequencer.-... Wanted to do some music again but found Logic would install but not run. I tried Win XP mod already. It says some error on XSkey.dll If no one has an idea I need to install XP as 2nd OS with Win7 64bit I guess ? There it worked fine before...
  5. I had this Cd, but found only 2-3 songs very good, rest is "soso". Guess I sold it on ebay. Or still have it ? Need to check
  6. Yeah some earlier songs are cool, was never a fan of em tho. However I must admit that even their newer stuff isn´t that bad. I mean not for me, cause it´s not my style really. But the production and some themes/melodies will appeal to general public too now. Then add a lot of marketing and voila you will be more popular. I bet you or I could do the same with enough marketing and some more commercial songs we could make.....well we could also hire an alias best would a hot guy ca. 25-30 and a hot girl ca. 20 as "alias" BTW: You need some production experience which IM surely can bring to the table, however if you have not just hire someone
  7. Hi, I guess there are LOTS of bands that the "general" public never heard off. Even known metal bands. And metal is much more popular style than say psytrance or ebm. We could make an experiment and ask 50 random people on the street for electronic bands. Maybe some know Kraftwerk or more certainly Prodigy. But if you would name say Astral Projection or even Skinny Puppy or Front 242 which are in the eklectronic scene well known, I would bet most if any would know them Btw. I would also ask people here in forum which is the most popular trance or techno act ? Armin von Buren, Sven Väth ? No idea tbh
  8. Howdie, can people post here songs (I guess only electronic or tech-trance ones) to question which genre it could be ? 2 old tracks I have no idea if this could be "psytrance" or "goa" the basics were probably ebm/elektro iirc. Thanks, I can identify mostly indus/ebm and some psytrance too if you have questions. Here the 2 "oldies" to identify...
  9. Fresh from the press NEW Paradise Lost, quite cool !!! PS: Didn´t know metal is "other electronica" lol While we´re at darker sounds, here a coool German band (athmospheric blackmetal maybe as style?) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siGkbc5eumA
  10. Nice one first 2 parts mainly about industrial beginnings later docu focusses on NIN(7! parts) Here a Berlin Tresor docu (about Techno mainly I guess)
  11. Know this one ??
  12. Oldie but goldie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1bUnWeMNHU
  13. Firstly they seem not to be known well in Europe (but I also cannot really judge it, cause I don´t listen radio,TV or read charts lists etc.) Secondly guess they have some good promo company and maybe got lucky too. Sometimes one big live act can make you known to the public or one TV appearance etc. Thirdly the aren´t Psytrance or even Elektro anymore from what I heard of newer stuff. Sure they still have such songs but I guess the popular ones are those the strange vox and guitars etc. Fourth, they weren´t that good (for my taste) even back in the day, so that might help too. Note that some (most) charts mucis isn´t that good from musical standpoint (it is produced well however mostly and has huge promo thigns running).. I find it more surprising that M.Manson or Rammstein got so big, cause they aren´t normally that mainstream sounding or looking. But guess mainstream needs some spooks from time to time, too. The poster above: Find it not surprising they are popular in oriental countries cause they sound a bit like this, don´t they? Well ok, the one guitar I heard could be also spanish but very well oriental style too.
  14. Good or at least acceptable mastering is not rocket science (or Hexenwerk as we say) anymore I think....so it´s strange that so many still get it wrong... msot famous exmaple maybe Metallica "Death Magnetic" (well not that it was a great album, but the better tracks also ruined by too much loudness). I could tell countless examples how about a total fuck up ? Listen too early Mayhem lol (I mean the real early stuff). But that was punky blackmetal so excuseable. I haven´t heard much newer psy stuff so can´t now what´s bad there, but think some of the early stuff of course was quite weak, while probably much newer stuff is too "strong" (following loudness war). Will listen to some examples in this thread later. I want to say, that MIXING is the science, mastering a good mix is quite easy. Mastering a bad mix will not fix the mix
  15. Guess if u put together 2-3 from 3-4 of his latest albums you will get a great one Check in the reviews section tho, I found most of his stuff there.
  16. Still looking, I travel top Berlin every other 3-4 months or so lol. Also old-timer live now in Westfalen tho In the pretty wooded Siegerland... what style you like to make. I would like industrial-blackmetal
  17. Actually my project is named ALPHA QUADRANT - but guess it´s not for pure psy/goa lovers but most newer songs have some influences of it. It is a mixture from these styles as well Industrial, Dark - Ambient and Experimental.... Also I am not a "producer" but guess I add my project here still.. I wasn´t active for a while tho...... Artist wiki: http://www.last.fm/music/Alpha+Quadrant/+wiki You Tube (actually I started uploading some other songs too except mine) https://www.youtube.com/user/UsoundsGermany/videos Here some examples: This is where I see the future of the "helltrance" style: Needs a bit more refinement, but it is the direction I am looking for From middle phase (oldschool elektro/amient with ooomph) Very old, from 1st project with other guy (was an EP release 12 yrs ago) Newest remix (from Portion Control EBM fathers) Re-mastering and adding ooomph (oldschool dark-ebm hit)
  18. Whow a lot of Deja Vu on here at least for indus/ebm/psy listeneres.........guess the guitar driven songs can be routed to Ministry also to guitar stuff by FLA (eg. Millenium album). Other than guess he listens a lot to dark-electro bands like S.Commando, Hocico and the like Which is not a bad thing. I guess the dancefloor Hocico songs would be a good comparison however cause of not much psy and more aggro in case of H. it is not really comparable. But close imo Or Taktical Sect ? Anyway I find this a bit less intriguing than the other album I have (Cassandras Nightmare)... First 2-3 tracks are quite killer but it get´s weaker imo. Still 7/10 and I agree that FLA is a bit better lol But I am oldtime fan of Bill&Co. so comparison is not fair...
  19. Ha, lol ur the man Btw. any info on the audio quality of the older tracks compared to originals. Today they sound a bit thin, guess he has corrected this here ?
  20. Well stumbled recently over this @ YT and took a listen. Must agree with others here, heard first 3 tracks and skipped to some parts of the others but it´s not that great. I guess he has humour or is sarcastic with the album name However has a lot´s of views masses seem to like it for some reason. From the little bit I heard 4/10
  21. Not IM fan, except one album which I like "The Gathering".... this one is quite bad tbh. Only 1 good track (3), 2-3 tolerable ones but I generally don´t like their style and high pitched stuff etc... 4/10 However of course this is also quite an odd mixture and somehow experimental - this I can admire.
  22. Well review on page 1 is a bit harsh is it ? I am really positive in putting out serious critic to half baked music. However here it is only partly deserved. Tracks 1&2 are actually quite cool, ok, I don´t like the fades in/outs that much also the bass could better.BTW: The "preachy bitch" sounds like Anne Clark? 3 seems a bit weaker than the first - still listenable - but loses energy somehow over time.. 4 is ok, better than 3 imo cause adds some more sounds at 2nd half 5 well quite boring tbh also again these annoying slowdowns/fades (whatever u name it) 6 same as before but added some weak geetar, not a fan 7 mediocre 8 don´t like the geetar and/or the way it is played cause I think the rockish stuff does not fit (other style guitar might be ok like some rare examples) 9. see 7 10. quite cool So 1,2,4,10 are good tracks at least. 6,5/10
  23. 7,88/10 However the reviewer above was right that 2-3 tracks seem pointless....
  24. Did not like the 1st one but this is much better 8/10, but really it IS a bit too monotone imho....
  25. One of the best "dark goa" albums probably -8.5/10 only because it has some lentghts...
