  1. Maybe you're just going to the wrong parties? OT: Artifact303 - Back to Space is one of the best modern albums IMO! Vibrasphere's archipelago is very nice too, considering the progressive spectrum. Haven't heard too much full-on though... Considering Dark it would have to be Waves from outer space from Kindzadza, or Debut from Psykovsky... Renegade from Crazy Astronaut is awesome too! And considering Forest I'd have to go with derango's Tumult.
  2. I would like to add something on the whole genetics discussion. Don't you think that general upbringing in our society is radical different rather than our gene-pool? If you take into account the dominant stereotype of what a girl is "supposed" to like, and the way that influences her upbringing (it's another stereotype but I think about barbies, other dolls, whose sole purpose is to look "pretty"), isn't that a much better explanation? What I think, and what sounds a lot more logical to me, is that the way you sculpt something eventually has a much wider and bigger impact on what it becomes than the buildingblocks it is made of have. So in that sense, I would go looking for the reason why there are fewer female dj's and artists in the socio-cultural paradigm rather than in the eugenic paradigm. The reason why men are more "technical" is because that stereotype has been held intact for a very long time, not because our genes are more "technically" biased. Ofcourse I can't say for sure whether or not this has, in the long run, affected our gene-pool, but one shouldn't automatically assign every (and take this with a grain of salt, I don't literally mean EVERY) difference between men and women to the field of eugenics. It's more complicated than that and just brazenly ignores socio-cultural impact (mainly the environment we grow up in and the way we are raised) in the equation. Some food for thought, I think.
  3. Jeez man, I've been trying to get my head around writing a review for this beast for months now but you just said it all. You and Penzoline. I rest my case.
  4. Wow, vast improvement over the first Goa Overdose! Especially Ezcape and Ephedra steal the show imo. More later.
  5. Hmmm by seeing this again... Did anybody else notice the striking resemblance to Halo's masterchief?
  6. Looks like something Ormion would like too Does look rather good yes
  7. I recently "got" Koxbox' Dragon Tales. While I could see what people liked about their first, I just couldn't figure out Dragon Tales. Now, it opened up to me in all it's complexity, and I really have to agree that it's one of the best crafted psychedelic albums out there.
  8. I completely agree, the best goa album released this year for me. Magnetic Fields and Beyond Lightspeed belong to my favourite tracks of all time!
  9. Looks pretty good imo, indeed very clean. But that's a good thing!
  10. That would be called cheating! Although, you may lock it now, so I win.
  11. A good compilation that, at least to me, marks the shift from Goa to Psytrance is Resonance Mood, from Matsuri. And indeed, a couple of the artists mentioned in this thread return here. Check it out!
  12. Well to my ears, early Koxbox output definitely is Goa-trance, just a tad different then let's say Mfg or Etnica. I don't really consider them psy except for the great unknown, but that is a stellar album in it's own right, combining so many different angles to this music in one. To me, one of the pioneers of the more abstract, bleeping and toinking psytrance certainly is Hux Flux!

    Koxbox - Dragon Tales

Far ahead of their time, that's what these guys were, and are. The album takes you on a playful trip through sound with expertly engineered soundscapes ever evolving and a craftmanship that is matched by few others. The quintessential psychedelic album. Buy this.
  14. Congratulations on finishing university! Whatever you decide on in regards to the site, I think the community will back you, and take it easy we can wait

    Mind Rewind

This compilation is the best thing that happened to Goa Trance in the past years, no doubt. So many quality here, it's astounding. Really makes me wonder what other hidden gems lie around at producer's homes, unreleased. Not only the quality of these tracks is amazing though, but also the effort that was put into this. One of the better initiatives by a group of individuals I have ever witnessed, I must say. Favourite tracks... There are so many here. The one that impressed me most is Shadow Dance by Etnica though, just ... And then the Slinky Nuns track, again with a funny name, like the one on Flying Rhino's First Flight, 'Caught in the Zipper'! Acidic Madness all over the place. The 'Sound Is Solid' Remix is another great track, and then we have the Muses Rapt with an epic epic track followed by Mushroomman, and ow man that Uni-vers Concept! Draeke, when I heard your set mentalism I was soooo hoping that you would release it someday, and you DID IT!!!!! Fan-tas-tic track!!! To every goa fanatic out there: If you haven't bought this while it's available, you're missing out, BIG TIME.
