  1. I agree. They can't hold up to the older stuff, it's nice and such, not bad at all, but there's some power or something missing... It's become too much "daa daa" plastic trance and too little psychedelic sharpness. But nevermind, I'm quite confident that I'll get the album anyway. It's better than most fullon out there and, well, it's Astral ... and it still has their trademark sounds.
  2. I can't sleep to most psy-ambient ... Solar Fields or CBL for example, it gives me goosebumps and that keeps me from nodding off, it's too good music To Sync24 I can, that one suits well. (Oxycanta I haven't tried yet.) But for sleeping I often choose some dark ambient, that one eases the nodding off. Or drone ambient. But I ain't got that much drone stuff yet, so I rarely listen to it.
  3. but when you already lose CDs, isn't it even more likely that you will lose even more CompactSticks? I'm not talking of the few sticks available now, you can count them on one hand, probably not gonna lose any if you have just a few ... but when their numbers get bigger, won't it be even more disorganized? Sticks lying everywhere and such? I mean okay, they don't get scratched like CDs if you let them lie around, but that would make the problem of disorganisation even bigger IMO because you have no motivation anymore to put the stuff back into the cover. I ain't got any organisation problem with CDs. I have a shelf for them, with two glass doors so they don't get dusty. But with sticks? I wouldn't wanna put them to the CDs since they can't be played on he Hifi and I want the shelf organized, so I'd let them lie around or whatever and so I'm sure I'd lose them. With one or two sticks it wouldn't be a problem, I'd stick them to my keychain or somewhere ... but when they get more I'm quite sure it will result in major disorganisation... By the way, CompactStick website is updated. Looks way more professional now. The project is getting bigger
  4. Just for the record, Atmos has now updated his Myspace profile with new songs and two of them are from the Compactstick version of the album! One of them is the mentioned "Rhythm Is"! The other one is Codename Bruno. I'm not that impressed by them though. They're really good, yeah, but the better songs clearly are featured on the CD. I therefore conclude that I have made the right purchase
  5. I think that guy definitely meant Ritchie Hawtin. If there really was a "Ritchie Han" and his stuff was good we'd have a thread about him here ... and people making fun on how his name sounds so similar to Hawtin's...
  6. the man is right ... ^ that's exactly what I am and I'm living proof that it's impossible to keep up But if everybody has his/her own favourite artists which he/she keeps up with and then shares news about these on forums on the internet (yeah, just like here ), then it's a good thing because people exchange and can keep up better that way. And that assures you don't miss that much (still some stuff slips by, but it's less than if you'd try to keep up alone) ... and in the end everybody is satisfied and the result is greater than the sum of its parts. Which is a wonderful thing. Or so I think. I second the Saikosounds method btw ... they've got the longest samples and are (IMO) the only ones who can actually really give you an impression of how an album sounds like. Other stores and their 45 second sound bits are just lousy imo.
  7. hey ... that streaming thing sounds familiar to me wasn't it exactly this what some people promised for the future of music? in some other threads that is... anyway... I have never heard of spotify. But it seems to be in beta state and that's why it's invitation only ... any hint on how to get invited btw? Is that invitation thing like gmail? Is this PC only or do they offer services for mobile streaming? Because if they did, that would be cool. They don't seem to be big yet. Which might be the reason that almost no psy is on there ... it's obviously because nobody - also no labels - knows about it

    Scooter

ha, so I have the original ... because I remember Pascal FEOS name is in it... but it's true, these names don't have anything to do with Scooter... I'd say even Dieter is better than them Still, it's Retro for me oh and by the way ... the guy from the films Taxi and Taxi Taxi ... he's got the same eyes like Scooter's lead singer...
  9. yeah, I have to admit you're right about that when one earns less, one can buy less, which leads to a decrease of buying which leads to the fact that also the sellers earn less and can buy less which means everybody will have less money... but of the money that one milked out of the system some months ago you can now buy more than you could back then ... at least that's a temporary positive thing...

you mean that shoutout they do in Hyper Hyper?
  11. Etnoscope has a female voice ... no text though, at least no real one check out their tracks Sunrise, King Size Rizzla and Qula. Also check out the great song Banco De Gaia - Obsidian! (thinking about it, the Banco tune she'll probably like more ... you should definitely give it a spin!)
  12. this is something I have thought about... UK pounds are really down low now ... guess it's a cruel statement, but I'm happy about it... yes, the crisis will clean up for sure and a cleanup is needed ... and I mean everywhere, not only in the psy scene seen from that perspective the crisis actually has many positive things ... and for us end users (except you poor label managers), we profit because everything is cheaper... and you, as manager, you can screw up real bad and blame the crisis for it when in truth you screwed up... After all it's just a matter of holding on ... a tough position (underground releases) becoming even more tough, tricky, yeah, but not impossible. Maybe a few will go down, maybe we'll whine about it just like we always do, but in the end it always was like that and labels closed down, because of crisis or not, so the progress will more or less just continue as it did. I'm not buying much anyway though, only a few releases a year, so I guess it won't affect my ordering habits...
  13. that's right But I'm actually glad they exist because it shows the german scene is really alive and kickin' and showing presence and not just dwelling in underground caverns like most other scenes ... as I said, the stuff is available in big electronic markets ... just one shelf across the pop hits of Christina Aguilera there is psy music -- and not ancient classics like IM's The Gathering, but real and modern actual just released stuff -- and that's what I like... Goa-Head compilations shared the same fate, they too were available in the big electronic markets (using past tense here because I haven't seen 'em around anymore) ... and besides the good tracks (better than the YSE compilations ... and better covers too) that was actually the reason why I chose to support them! I wanted to foster it that the psy scene showed presence even in commercial stores ... I think it is a positive thing! My first real goa-CD (if you see over a cheap compilation I found somewhere and which I never really liked) was a Goa-Head from the big stores

well, it wasn't the group that got me into electronic music, that was done already before by a Dream Dance compilation ... but I listened to them back when I was 13 /14 or so ... lol, I was precisely the right age for that music A friend of mine burned me a live CD from them back then ... I listened to that one a lot. Scooter is awful, in terms of now ... but it's retro too, no matter how bad it is, I connect memories to it and that's what matters. I will never throw away that burned CD and might even buy one of their old albums when I see it cheap somewhere ... and from time to time I'll listen. And have a laugh.
  15. Soon available in the big electronic markets around here. Bought by goa fraggles who casually listen to the music and don't really care and just want to know what's "hot" (according to YSE). Precisely the kind of people we'll only rarely see around these forums, but which make out roughly 75 percent of our scene...
  16. no ... that won't be it IMO, it doesn't apply to the formula I stated above...
  17. yeah... I don't know, but that trend slowly tends to get on my nerves.
  18. good recommendations! also try S-Range - Space
  19. Atmos is very futuristic music to me ... especially his latest. I'd embrace a future where this kind of music would be popular. lol, imagine it ... this kind of electronic music being popular and pop fans crawling around on underground internet forums like popnews.org, haha would be great, I'd love that however, don't forget there are certain formulas you must follow if you want to create a song that the masses like (well, you don't have to, but there is a significant tendency that songs of a certain structure with certain melodies will be approved with a higher likelihood). Pop culture will not change much if these formulas don't change. And for these formulas to change it requires humanity's thinking to change. And that's where one realizes that the question about the music is something deeper than thought at first. It also depends if humanity will still think the old way (the way of today) or in new ways ... which depends partly on how the system will change. So it's complex and difficult to make forecasts.
  20. don't eat that cheap soup, it's unhealthy... by the way, I'd rather keep the CDs even if they are unofficial than to give them away for a few portions of cheap soup (and chances are high that you won't get more than that for them)...
  21. that's quite true ... there is no law backing this up... and lawsuits and stupid practices can't be the answer to the current market situation, I don't support these practices either. but the CD sales really might be in troubled times now (due to financial crisis maybe?) ... they've put up two huuuge ad posters entitled "CD, the all inclusive music" and such practically right in front of my house. Every time I go out I see the huge CD ad. I mean, wtf. They really must be down low if they're already trying this... >by the way, here is an article about that campaign (in german): http://futurezone.orf.at/stories/1501891/ but what to do now? continuing the stealing won't make the problem go away either.
  22. Nothing special. I wouldn't pay for this... You Got Me is not bad though.

    for trade

maybe he had a CD wallet ... and lost the jewelcases ... or ... well, nevermind... doubt the fella will go down with the price though seeing that the thread's from October...
  24. I guess that was like 25 Euros for a Peak Rec. "Chilling Goddess" ... I wanted to support the store (because I knew they were blowing outta the last hole) and it was a travel souvenir (that holds more value than some shitty accessoire), so I bought it. Actually I did that same thing on two other travels aswell with Filteria- Sky Input and Makyo - Swara Mandala. The price was about the same ... can't remember for which one I payed most... Yeah, they were ordinary CDs I could just have gotten off the net. No rarities. The price was high, but since I bought them on travels, the good memories that come with them are worth far more than the overprice and on top of that I feel good because I supported the local community
  25. Thanks for finally demystifying this ... I too have thought that I maybe know the melody from somewhere ... never would have crossed the bridge to Push though... Yeah, I kinda have the same feeling about it. Still hope the album will be great though...
