  1. i would prefer speakers any day... you cant ever get enough sub out of headphones, but i do LOVE my wireless(of course wireless=even less bass oh well) headphones for after hours. sucks living in a thin walled building but my neighbors are pretty cool so at least i can bump it Up during regular hours. main reason i prefer speakers over headphones is the four speaker effect of being surrounded (not using surround sound) even if i cant always crank it all the way up
  2. Dammit i'm jealous i've seen him dj a few times really frikkin awesome. wish i wasn't so lame, a good question... i am curious how much influence do the people dancing have on the next track played, but that's more general for all djs, how often does the amount/type of moving going on affect whether the next track is more crazy or less or whatever..... i know prolly not making much sense anyway great job landing the interview i'm jealous
  3. Frikkin AWEsome seems like the tracks i know of are already mentioned... no, We're no alone here! you can like weird crazy music and other stuff and still believe in good ole' Jesus some of it may not be Christian in origin, but i'd bet a ton of Israeli stuff has some sort of religious influence and that's close enough for me, same God just some of us are gentiles ALL music that gets you dancing crazy before God is good. You can make anything His to be ultra weirdo Chritstian about it
  4. if it did- we'd be outa artist quick! however if you read craigslist.org rants and raves, you'll see every day another celebrity IS dead, and shortly after you'll find out it was a lie. today's death is ...............Paul Mcartney! woo hoo we have a winner link to one of the dead paul posts
  5. wait- psytrance or progressive??? my experience on L with progressive has been .......... "where's the real trance already?"................"ugh!"...................."i'm bored" good slammin psytrance, me , and L -i mentioned elsewhere one of those things you won't believe even after you see it.. as far as particulars, there are so many tracks... geez that would take weeks......... the goods get me moving like lightning, but really the L- as far as dancing it more than anything else provides that extra energy what makes my "trip" better visuals/decorations/crowd cool vibes form the people, cool lights/videos/ and killer stuff like at the last one i was at these wacko giant fluoro flowers, that's what the drugs are good for to me anyway
  6. so between recovery and schedule took me a few extra days but last Sat went and saw Jirah in SF which well i dunno yeah he was a live human being but he played a DJ set- but pretty much all his stuff, remixed etc, you know how they do it, -- YES that was some frikkin trance.. .the only cd i have is Outer Access which is pretty old by now and not really all that full on although good-- WAY better now. WAY. some of what he played was older stuff i recognized remixed to nice and full on psychedelic, at least by my definition... Dutch- i dunno how much this guy travels any more or what but if he's playing by you, go see it- he's been dj forever, probably my favorite, although he will definitely play for the crowd- meaning if his set is early, or the party is overall progressive or whatever, he's gonna play what fits. It was extra sweet that his set was last like 5am so he tore it up. He just really knows what to play when, what is good psy, and how to mix it the party itself was kinda funny because it was put on at a legal warehouse space (we have these weird laws here)- so no alcohol, cops stay outside at begining to make sure its not too loud, the one bummer possibly for some people was it was not all that loud in back but i stayed up front by speakers aso it was Tight - also gotta love a WEED friendly environment- 18+ which meant where most psy parties i go to are 90% 27+ this one was more like 80% 18-22, probably a few underage people.... still there's always enough of the trance crew to make an old guy like me feel at home, once i get to work on that floor...... well that's something you have to see to believe, and most people don;t believe it even when they see it i dunno if the rest of the scene was elsewhere for some outdoor thing or just too cool for a youngsters party, but most of the locals scene missed out i'd say. Jirah was hot man, Hot. the early djs were from another collective(whatever?), them and their kids were really more into the cyber type trance... EXCEllent- seeing that slowly, although it is taking years, this huge mass of kids brought up on the worst cyber rave music are migrating towards real psytrance, even the cyber djs were throwing in real tracks. The psy scene has always been so elite and exclusive that most kids who wanted trance music only got cybertrance and never really figured out the real deal here, funny thing about that is mainly too many of them and the clowns who wanted to put on parties for 26yr olds to sell them E - play crap- so Finally they move forward as the scene gets smaller and the two types of parties converge a bit Star Hawk- i mention this guy because wow- HEAVY dark psy for his set - i usually don't like that stuff that much but for what it was, Wow dude rocked some pretty good HARD dark psy, much of it had really deep stuff going on beneath the pounding so yeah if Jirah or Dutch play near you, CHECK IT OUT, and i'll throw out there if you like the dark heavy stuff Star Hawk was good too
  7. yep, over last weekend at another party even the promoters were agreeing with me infected belnogs on a rock circuit rather than trance these days but for now they have the $$/promo to get clubs and we'lll just ride along in the other room with real trance when they do.... sad really/
  8. uh, not sure what yer getting at, i think you misread my poor use of the > symbol.... to clarify the first few times Infected was AWESome. but since around 01 - not... YEAH- supervisor- now every track has bald dude doing that vocal nonsense... (sorry i never have figured out which guy is which) i would say i didn't quite waste $30 (the other djs/performers were excellent)- but IM did add at least $10 if not $15 to the admission and that much was wasted. They really don't deserve any more money from psytrance fans if they aren't gonna play psytrance!! wtf! get off our circuit!!
  9. ha ha ..... i wondered if anyone would take offense at that...... i really dont have any idea what sun project is like anymore i saw them in like 99 here and we all thought the guitars might be a cool addition to the trance and .......... they weren't... at least not then. If Sun Project is pretty good these day well sorry to put them in with what was infected mushroom
  10. I have an album from 01 i cant read my writing so im trying CDDB.........Electronic Uncertainty not bad at all, been listening to it for years. some day ill get some newer stuff, geez my collection is dated
  11. so friday i went out and saw the infected mushroom gig here in SF and well all i can say is what happened to those guys?? wow that was not trance. I pretty much stayed upstairs where they did some decent psy all night, and kept going down and seeing if the massively overcrowded Infected room sounded any better but every track was the same- screaming guitar, bald dude ?singing? and doing all that "get the crowd in a ruckus" stuff.... it was really sad. I mean if they want to be rock stars ok cool, lots of the people there seemed to be enjoying the hell out of it but THAT WAS NOT PSYTRANCE. just go on tour with Def Leppard and get it over with! otherwise an EXCellent party considering it was at THE mainstream club, still a great overall vibe, the psy djs did us right, Random did a supposedly live performance not sure how "live" it was but his stuff is sounding pretty damn good these days. Dr Spook of course tore it up in the main room after Infected finished whatever you want to call their set and he was as usual excellent but i do have to of course throw some crap at the flyer= "San Francico's TOP DJS"? uh even if you are (maybe one of but not the), really cheesy to say so on a flyer.... don't be a gil Spook.... Spook is a helluva performer though, does a good job mixing great tracks and running the visuals at same time and of course the behind the decks theatrics get the kids going, got to love it.. Yeah, i had a feeling i wasn't really going to see Infected Mushroom but on the off chance they had improved, I didn't want to miss it. At least the promoters do bring in lots of other talent to go with them so it was still a great party but I definitely never care about seeing them again. SAD because the first time - UNREAL< aMAZING- actually like the first three times i saw them, so wild.. All down hill ever since.
  12. wow lotta SF people on that list. ocelot and penta (listed as portugal? did he stop being russian? whatever) and supposedly Random now too i like Random, one of the few people i will go out of my way to talk to for a minute when i go out. anyway i didnt see him on the list there but he's listed elsewhere so i give him a shout so you all might give him a listen
  13. WELL- DAMN SAmmy- what happened??? i guess you went back ot those old days when i met you at that tiny space y'all were letting teenagers throw candy/house raves in i remember him saying "we're making house" then a few weeks later Koinenia (sp?) did a party there and those guys started making GOOD music. i dunno CPU sounded a little better than mechanikka (sorry nick) but overall I hate all three (max) or whatever of you for not just keeping biodegradeable going i do love some of those CPU tracks. hahahha= yeah well SAm- you guys still owe me anyway. (hahah i guess not really since Nick did at least give me a copy of Biodegradable) i HATE when good artists make crappy music. i know artists have to exapnd or whatever weird trip they go on, but you know what? Quit it! heheheh. make the good stuff please
  14. well ok Penta i get your reason for making this but well it isn't making me laugh. yes, certainly not.
  15. wow that is bad- BUT is that even Penta? isn't that the Azorsky person? i really don;t think that is Penta there's a link to his page and it's all decent psy as far as i can tell anyway
  16. so should i put i link to this thread in the bay area trance tribe all the penta nuts read all the time?/ too funny i'll give this a listen but WTF- why do good psy people turn to bad music?
  17. i don't go to much in the way of "festival" or weekend long parties, those i pretty much have gone to with others but regular parties at club or warehouse or outside somewhere in my area i go alone more often than not. I always know most of the people at parties, but im not really friends with many of them and ehh, i'm way more into the music than anything else. pretty odd, but it is not uncommon for me to go to a party for 8 hours and say "hey what's up" to like two people and not a word else. never been big on party type smalltalk, and all i have in common with most trance party people is the music so there isn't much for me to say. What's funny is sometimes people try to talk to me or think maybe i'm not having a good time by myself around all those people. i'm still having an awesome time
  18. HA! i really like that track, these days its a little outdated but i am glad to hear i/m not the only one who still thinks that track ROCKS i like just about everything by BPC, but that is my favorite. He has a really good different sound. Saw dude live years ago at pretty much the best (soundwise) club around here. AWESOME!!! also he stayed with some people i knew while here and made them a mix i got a copy of- sooooooo cool- goes from ambient to full on and back with so many weird things i can't explain properly here but it is great (mostly other people's music in the mix). guy really knew what he was doing and i am for so long disappointed we don't get anything new from him..
  19. Art Vandelay- shoulda known with a name like that you were sending me somewhere stupid. holy cow that is a funny video
  20. EXCELLENT- how is the blue planet track??? i have been forever wanting to hear more from that guy
  21. well in this case when it sounds exactly like everything else by hallucinogen, you can't help compare it and i don't really see a work that contains other works as a work on its on terms. we're not comparing apples and oranges here, we're comparing one apple to another, and they sure look the same to me which is unfortunate because i really wanted a tangerine or something.......
  22. ha! that hux flux track with pac man in it- sorta counts?? there are so many but one i dont have any idea what track it was but i will never forget hearing michael jackson- off the wall !!! ha! i couldn't believe that melody running through the track, but it was. also have to wonder how often this happens by accident, there are sooo soo many out there
  23. true. anyway i pondered this before i put a psytrance soundtrack on my skate video (prana) i kinda feel like i could get in trouble, but what the heck. not like im getting any money out of it, i used a really old track, im not anything close to a musician and i needed a good soundtrack. F it. i guess i decided as long as it was a way outdated track i don't feel like i'm hurting anyone, more likely only turning some people on to something different, but i still feel a little guilty, like it would be nice to get permission. i think when i get another vid together, i'll ask one of the locals if i can use a track, or just use something from biodegradable, they'd pree tty much have to let me use whatever (or fight me hahahaha) BUT would i post a "video" in the mtv sense>?? not likely. MAYBE short video from a party, but not likely. if the psy track IS the draw of the video, i would feel like it is a violation, and as an "artist" if you can call the half assed works i make art, a video where the main draw is someone else's soundtrack is not art by me for example search kox box and get tons of videos, most of them essentially a bootleg for the sole purpose of being a bootleg. not really helping anyone, especially youtube, to post worthless dark videos bootlegged from clubs that would have ejected you if they caught you taping with real equiptment. when the video is more about your friends or whatever was going on at the party, i find it more acceptable many people like to post more or less documentaries of life, so while not for me, i don't see a problem with people taping a great time at a party, and so it comes with the music heard at party, friends videos, videos of "this was the party at xxx" - probably some sort of violation to use other people's tracks, but what is the big deal. end result, as mentioned, more exposure for artists.
  24. i'm a third cousin by my sister's marraige...........
  25. not bad... doesnt sound like anything i haven't heard before though. kinda sounds like the early stuff with -this will probably make some people mad- but it has a somewhat infected sound to it, then shpongle plus old hallucinogen... more or less a hash of old stuff. I really like this type track myself, the sounds, etc it does seem to be missing anything way mega full on BUT as a preview free track, i don't expect that much. argh, it just slows down at the end?? +1 million
