  1. way to wide a scale for me to vote. 140- 160?? between at least 143 and 146 at most. faster is ok for short periods, but much over 150, - thaT is - what? gabber ? psycho sick trance? slower than 140 needs to be sped up if it is supposed to be psytrance, 137 is the low end
  2. i use anything with a knob as a controller- for mixing , all you need is hopefully a slider and as many knobs as you can get. lately i am screwed back into the early version of traktor (vid card issues with later one, go figure) and use the keyboard and mouse. as long as you can use two hands, you do whatever a dj would do also, thank i had not heard of deckadance, i will check it out
  3. it is weird, big website, merchandise, cds, myspace, but no pic anywhere but now the rumor is getting them publicity. dammit, i didn't need to know about this. probably the same old internet scam::::::
  4. HEY- win visualizations?? ?UGH- TRY G-FORCE the earlier versions had less compatiblility issues (i cant get the new one to work with itunes, but it works with winamp. G-FORCE dominates. they finally did start selling a gold version, which could really be about one of the best visuals for a party because it can be routed to ANY audio input (meaning you could hook up a mic or line in to decks and have visuals that go with the music (on three levels) i would say the main draws of G-FORCE are 1)constant color changes- no same color vis for hours 2) minimal repetition - there are about a hundred standard effects that combine in different ways to produce a constantly changing effect some other cool factors are ability to increases number of things happening on the screen (depending on machine power) being able to change the color scheme the list goes on i have a few other old vis proggys that are almost as cool, but none have ever really matched G-FORCE it is very addicting, people tend to get caught up in staring at it when i have it on. kata fx is a neat retro style vis if you can still find it anywhere, it was free but i think they took it off the market to use it for themselves at shows. PS- if you enable "run multiple instances" with winamp, there is a plug in available which allows pitch/ tempo control, but as far as i know, no beat counter yet (but i haven't looked in awhile)
  5. they sent me the email the next day, NOT immediately so it may be coming to you if you just signed up
  6. you have to go through the whole process, at the end you can select format- WORSE- they don't tell you until later there is an extra charge to DL wavs, not sure how much it is. still seems pretty cheap- 10.43 for an album that would be $18-20 in a store here, shipping, etc. the extra DL charge is probably worth it. BONUS ten free tracks when you sign up ( free to reg) - i assume the free ones are mp3 only, still pretty cool. after i regged, the next day (today) got an email with a ten free DL coupon!! i feel kinda dumb having forgotten about that site, had be turned on to it awhile ago. KILLER idea , that we can dl in whatever format.
  7. cool. so do newer versions beat match better??? one thing i found is newer TRACKS match bettter, for two reasons- one, heavy bass, but MOre, better timing and sync on newer machines that made he music, less fluctuation throughout the tracks. one thing i couldn't get into with one of the studio versions was setting up cues for everything. the orginial studio and mixer progs let you do it either way, then it all of a sudden got real complicated
  8. sorry i don't know tracks/albums by name, but driving four hours to listen to Gil slam tracks together isn't going to help that. listening to it now. oh yes, Taygeta, i know this one, Alcyone also, these all are good. yeah great stuff. . i barely know the names of tracks, a few artists i know by sound. wav is available IFO at Beatport point was i hardly need Gil's horrible mixing skills, massive ego trip, or the gil worshippers that go with it to hear goa. we just had a killer (nearly)all goa party for NYE- there's no reason it can't be pulled off at any time
  9. so some of you must use mixing software on your computers right?? what are the newer good proggys?? i am still using some old ass versions of Traktor, which i really like but it's so old i imagine there is something newer/ better? with midi in ? final scratch was pretty cool, but im not looking to use that much extra gear If you aren't using mixing software at home, you should get some and try it. so much fun
  10. HEY!------- you took that at the last Tantra party, didn't you! (heheh)
  11. a few of their tracks are electronic enough it got me interested- those guys were playing a few other things as well. scoff cruddle- nice link, that's a great track, and fairly definitive of the early good stuff
  12. it was 92. hitchhiking in SoCal, these guys pick me up and take me to Phoenix Spacemen3 playing at 85 miles an hour through the southwest desert. it was all downhill from there
  13. look at this nonsense, this is what i put up with here. i got all excited someone was gonna do a cool Goa party here and the link gives me this= stupid link
  14. i will be 35 in a few months. whatever. there are tons of older people into psy here.
  15. says who? if it was good for you you would like it. i really don't get what you need help with- or maybe- i hate the way this sounds, but are you worried you are some how not cool or not a real trancer (what??) if you don't like these albums?? i dunno. i hope i'm missing something here because this is a bit of a disturbing topic, i don't get why OP feels bad for not liking something
  16. right- aren't we supposed to believe the world won't be around for another five years?? anyway if the rest of the world doesn't change radically, i don't see the scene changing that much either. one group or another's parties get too big , they start breaking off into scenes, the "cool" people have smaller and smaller private parties until the inbreeding overloads. another scene mainstreams large enough for the general public to wind up at a party, the smaller scenes mix it up, on like that. here in SF area this is accelerated by things like burning man and other large yearly multi genre events. anyway music genres this strong don't change all that much over time. It is hard to imagine the music itself changing all that much, i don't know. advances in tech certainly helped between 93 and 03 but it does seem like we reached a level here, psytrance has something of a definition, so if it changes much it is something else, no??? your regular music types have been essentially unchanged for decades and even centuries for the most part. Still, there's probably more coming... some crazy effect or sound that hasn't been used that will change psy a little more
  17. oh, and as far as the big argument, yeah cds will not be used for new releases much longer.. DVD 5.1 , bluray, some crazy 658 channel surround disc , whatever. but i don't think that changes the discussion, there will always be pirated vs. legally purchased, or at least for a really really long time. a set of rca cables will (crappily) circumvent most digital copy protections currently available
  18. too much re-coding involved to make this look right (ha) 1. Do you download music from the web? Any kind of music. How much? How often? yes, not that often anymore 2. Do you download specifically Psytrance releases? not in years, but if i looked and found lossless cds lossless info i might. i primarily rely on getting copies of cds. a weird compromise= store that allows you to return new music for 75% of original price for 7 days. they used to have a kick ass psy buyer, not sure anymore the last psy i DL- a friend ftp-d me Ocelot. i liked it so i gave Ocelot (aaron) 15 bucks, he gave me 2 real copies. i told one of the infected guys years ago i had dl's everything they made, never paid for it- so i said here take a dollar a t least. he laughed at me, the bald guy. 3. Do you think that downloading (and any other forms of piracy) really hurt the music industry? probably, but not as much as they want us to think. people are totally hooked on the ease of downloading, getting the majority to buy songs here and there, really at this point by the millions- what is the profit like on .99 cents for a 128k mp3? still, i imagine labels make less, but smart artists can still make plenty, and maybe level the field a bit to where musicians don't get to make trillions, but more are successful enough to do more live shows and make a living 4. Do you think that downloading (and any other forms of piracy) really hurt the Psytrance industry? for this i have a question, Basilisk's link gives me some idea, but are psy producers able to make better money whne thier music is spread worldwide for free, then they get booked gigs vs. trying to sell one record at a time off a site only a small portion of trance people see?? 5. Would you like a world that every new album/comp would be released only in the web? doesn't matter to me either way as long as the sound quality is all there
  19. most of these links are dead- new ones ????
  20. i like oxygen 8, have used it but for my meager purposes i took apart a larger controller and just use the modulation dial at the moment BUT wondering if you guys know of a newer thing similar to but maybe better or cheaper than the Phatboy?? that thing is pretty cool for what it is, jsut a bunch of knobs, but hard to find and like $200
  21. interesting, seems like it is total re makes rather than remixes, of a lot of older stuff. couple of pretty good newer sounding tracks, overall i guess i would call it kinda fluffy.
  22. what album?? figures, i got 3 albums junos here in a disc, none of them it
  23. four in a row from the same artist??? you can do better than that i think
