  1. The legendary Greek documentary... heheheheheh.... I'm a bit younger, only started partying in Athens around 2001. And at the 17:22 mark is the future Top Model, Dorothea Merkouri, who has said many times in her interviews that she was a raver as teen/young woman.
  2. Got my presale tickets (100 eur) yesterday. I'm very happy! It was a massacre. The 100 eur tickets were sold in about 20 minutes. I got mine at about the 7 minutes mark. Phase 1 and 2 tickets were sold out in a few hours, now it's only the last phase which was supposed to last unti 1st August. I doubt it will last a lot more. Last chance for some people will be to go to their local ambassadors. My friends didn't have cash at hand so I didn't buy tickets for them, since they still owe me money from the 2017 edition. If they want tickets, they will have to be quick to get them from our local ambassador (Haris AKA DJ Fishimelf). Now my problem is that my credit card has been charged twice, because of technical problems. I'm actually trying to solve this matter today, without jeperdizing my tickets. Anyway, we'll talk about it in the next months.
  3. I usually play them something easy to the ears and catchy: MWNN or Juno reactor, Jaia is also a good choice, art or trance, Miranda. Generally, what is closer to the club-trance sound. Juno reactor - pistolero (MWNN remix) is usually my first choice, it's a happy-catchy-cluby song yet still psychedelic. I think the more complicated, acidic stuff that I really enjoy and people praise are simply not easy for someone not acquainted with this kind of music or at least other types of electronic music: Hallucinogen, TIP, Nervasystem, Koxbox, BoTFb etc and many many more I think are too complicated.
  4. There is some dark music played at night, like Tim Schuldt, Xenomorph, BotFB but not forest. Probaly the best festival for "forest in a forest" is MoDem.
  5. I was at a techno event on Saturday in Belgrade (was there for the Euroleague final 4) and this was a phenomenal track played there. I was listening to it and it really reminded of earlyInifity project or Juno reactor. Luckily I had a Serbian friend Shazzam it for me. The whole album is very smooth!
  6. In terms of the "can't be trusted" mentioned above. I know of 3 instances (events) were I was present and he hasn't showed up. 2017 ZNA, he was supposed to play together with Jean Borelli and he didn't (don't really know why). The other 2 were smaller events in Greece. Most people that speak with him online say that he's not easy to work with and not trystworthy (actually they say much worse things...)
  7. They tour with a very nice D&B soundsystem (German of course) but for the Athens venue it definetley wasn't enough, the stadium was very big. It was very clear but for sure they needed a stronger system. A lot of people were complaining about it but I think they wanted more of a party experience, which is definetely not what you get at a Kraftwerk concert.
  8. This is a really funny and interesting topic (rare for Psynews these days). My fiancee is a primary school teacher (6-13 yo), me being a sound/light professional I usually help her (and the whole school) with the various plays and shows that they do. So I try to throw in as much alternative music as possible, since kids only listen to the rubbish promoted by TV and youtube. Whenever they have anything to do with magical fairy tales and lepricons I usually put in some version of Gamma goblins, when they did a presentation about modern technology I put Rinkdadink-Message from my chilhood (which has a lot of 6-bit samples from old video games), Juno Reactor very often too. This is not just limited to dance music, whenever there is some kind of battle or evil character, I prefer to throw in some punk or hardcore metal. This summer they are preparing a theater play based on sports and I'm planning to use 2 old-school Greek hip-hop songs which talks about people who succeed in life outside of the educational system but at the same time they mention the struggles in doing so and the struggels of their families unti they succeed. What I've noticed with the kids is that they can't listen to it for a long time. They like the beat and the simple melodies and the effects but only for a short time. I think it has to do with their attention span and cognitive ablities which are still under-developed. There's this funny story: My fiancee was just starting the preparations for a theater play and was explaining to the kids what's it going to be about, the characters, the music etc. So she played some tracks and some were trance tracks. After the class ended, this 7 year old boy comes to her and says: -Miss, that was trance music, right? Have you got any Man With No Name at your playlist? The kid is Naturelement's (https://www.discogs.com/artist/2037166-Naturelement) nephew so he had heard a lot of electronica at his studio. I actually know Dimitri very well, I just didn't know that he had a nephew at my fiancee's school.
  9. This is spectacular! Thanks for introducing me to this band! This is, so so !
  10. Went to the Athens show last week. It was good, interesting. Wouldn't go again but had to pay my respects! An one you would expect. Very flat (no climaxes, ups and downs), very neat, organised but still impressice. The 3D projections are really a marketing gimmick, it gets tiring very quickly so I used the glasses very little. I knew what to expect and it was just as I thought it would be. A lot of people were complaining that there was no emotion, no climax, no progression. Of course you dummies.....it's Kraftwerk. Even the name suggests it (Kraftwerk = power station). How do you expect a German power station to be? Full of adventure and surprises? No, it's 100% organised, sterilsed and efficient. As I often say about Techno and Electronica. A lot of times it's like f@cking without cuming.
  11. and a lot of track by UX/Slide. Slide's unstable albums is full of crazy stuff. Also hallucinogen's space pussy/thugs in tye dye is pretty mad.
  12. And just to show off. Here's a video of me, David (BotFB) and Haris (DJ Fishimself) drinking beers while Ray Castly is playing. The video is not mine, I just found it on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAvyNjyGId8 It's insectoid playing.
  13. Ray castle and his side projects, in my judgement, fall into the same category as The Infinity Project. Early pioneers, with a lot of experimentation and influenced from what where the "more established" genres of electronic music like acid house/trance,melodic techno, industrial, jungle. They have produced some phenomenal tracks but ,at the same time, a lot that are hit-and-miss. A lot of it also sounds very simple and definetely not so polished. So, this albums is about the same. You have legendary tracks like Cathexis, Stellium and Time traveller and others that are not on the same level. What I really like about this album is that you hear so much variety,so many ideas and experimentation. Occasionaly, this is impresive while other times it's juse meeeeh. I really like the subtle backround melodes, they are simple but very hypnotic/trancy. Given the above. At this year's ZNA my favourite live was TIP and my favourite DJ set, Ray Castle's. For me, it really shows that these people are REAL music masters that really know their art. Since Graham Wood (TIP) was playing around sundown, he managed to time his music with these changes of light. I don't know if many people notice it but for me it was very obvious. Overall, a lot of people that didn't know much about the act were blown away.
  14. Unrealesed goa project is also interesting. Mark Ainley (Solitaire) and Kyriacos (Sunbord) are qutie active there. But as the name suggests it's about people collecting rare/unreleased music and identifying tracks, mostly from DAT.
  15. I have a very strong 7.1 sound system with a studio (monitor) subwoofer. The house has very good heat and sound insulation but I won't really know how it sounds to the nighbours until I actually install and set it up properly. Now, it's just sitting in my living room unconnected. As for partying there. The garden can hold a proper rave with hundreds of people. However, at the ground floor (I'm at the 1st) is my mother's business (a school of foreign languages) so I don't think it will be good publicity if something like that takes place in the premises!
  16. Human Blue ‎– misStArRyAs Xperience (https://www.discogs.com/Human-Blue-misStArRyAs-Xperience/release/793893) Is the one I like the most. Which is the least progressive/more trancy album he has made.
  17. Hi guys, about a year ago we had this topic: https://www.psynews.org/forums/topic/72606-a-photo-of-your-living-room and the photos I posted are attached to this reply. So the good news are..... ta daa ta daaaaa (trumpet sound)...... I'm finally a home owner. Moved in 1st December and had my birthday and NYE there. No mortage, no loans, just very little credit card debt. Almost all contractors have been paid. At NYE we got in at 23:40, quickly installed a DVD player, put in Hallucinogen's Twisted album. So this was the first record, ever played at this house. Then went out. The current problems are that we still don't have heating and hot water since the people that must install the system are very busy (and it's holidays) but I don't care, the weather is sweet here in West Athens and I shower at my paren't house in the morning before work (same with my partner). Also, since we were both living at separate appartments, everyday we are carrying things. They seem endless. Every room has huge piles of black bin bags (mostly with women's clothes) that need to be put in order. Anyway, once it's decent looking I'l also post pictures of it! Also, it's an open invitation to Psynewers! If you pass from Athens and want to stay somewhere for a couple of nights, please inform me a few days before and we'll figure something out. It's a big house, so you can bring a few friends too! .........
  18. Good suggestions from all the guys. (Some shameless promotion for my mate George) Samplestick from Greece definetely fits this category, some of his tracks may be a bit more proggy but his style is very dancable!
