How can I say to him to stop doing drugs when I'm also doing it? I'm not critical of drug use. I'm critical of "irresponsible and excessive drug use". I stayed drug free for this event because I was responsible for the equipment AND the ppl being there, I would have liked to take some kind of psychedelic but it wasn't the time or the place Just like most things in life its the excess and dependency that is the problem. Anyway, let's just talk about the event, rather than my mate.

Thanks! I'm pretty sure you guys would have really enjoyed Morfea's set, it was very elegant and mysterious. I knew most ppl wouldn't appreciate his music, but as I said repeatedly to a few of people who came to me to criticize "We organized this party so that we could listen the stuff that we (3 of us) enjoy, your opinion doesn't matter". As for the organisation part: Since I work at big live sound productions (I'm at management though, not even a project manager), dealing with this party was a piece of cake. Whenever we are short staffed (rarely) I go to the concert and help the guys and sometimes it takes 2 days to setup an event , not 2 hours like this one. You know how fucked up some of the pop/rock stars and their management is and you can imagine the shit we have to endure from them. Also in Greece (as with most countries in the world), nightlife is associated with or directly controlled by organized crime, so we have to take into consideration that on some occasions someone holding a gun might knock our door. When things are good, they pay well. When things go bad you simply have to write-off what they owe you. So this event was nothing in terms of effort and complexity. I had a blast and I won't hide that I'm also proud of what I achieved given the financial constraints. MY ONLY ISSUE; I just need to have a good talk with one of the two guys (VERY good friend) and make an assessment on the party, his behavior and other people's behavior.... and of course make him pay his share that I covered, not because I need the money but because it's the right thing to do. I often try to explain to him that his excessive drug use is stupid and a waste of money. I don't want him to stop doing drugs I just want him to do it responsibly. I always say to him, that when one consumes enormous amounts of drugs (and even worse, cocktails of them) he disrespects his brain, his body and his sweat (because drugs cost a lot of money)... when he's sober he gets it, but once he starts partying he's like a beast hunting for pray (except that he's hunting for substances). Even worse, is that his father has been repeatedly jailed for heroin trafficking and of course is a junkie (at least my friend fears heroin like vampires fear the cross) so I know he has a "predisposition" for excesses. He is a very good guy and one would never imagine the household he has grown up in, so I'm very supportive of him and I try much much harder to help him with his life, more than any other person (including my idiotic brother). For one, I managed to make him love Goa and ignore the full-on/prog/dark/hi-tech shit that gets playe around here. I even took him to a house/techno party when he was on MDMA and he was blown away... he wasn't aware that one could have so much fun with this kind of music (which he was shunning/disdaining).

I've contributed to Ektoplazm and the Younger Brother album (unfortunanetly) when it comes down to crowdfunding and many other donations to other sites (including psynewds) and projects (musical or not) that I enjoy. So, yeah, why not!!!

Hi guys, on Saturday, me and 2 other mates organized our first decent event. By decent I mean: we had a big sound system and invited some famous DJs. It was free of charge and we did it so that we could listen the music that we enjoy and not be dependent on other people's taste and intentions. A lot of people were excited by what we tried offered to also help us financially (read below what happened). Overall, we believe about 200 people came. I was SUPER pleased with the music played, it was exactly as I planned it, the sound quality was good for the gear we had (mids were a bit of a problem since except for the monitors, other speakers couldn't produce them accurately) and even received compliments from the DJs despite the fact that the speakers I gathered was what I could get for free (read below), so I had to really work on the setup and positioning in order to get them to sound decently The line up was: Samplestick (liquid seed rec) Live- You can check his music on Youtube, ultimae style/deep trance/uptempo ambient Yiannis Pegkos - Local DJ and collector, he has a huge DAT,Vinyl, CD collection (half of his DAT were stolen when they stole his car ), very close with etnicanet guys, he gets a lot unreleased tracks. We call him "the secret weapon" because he's very quiet and low profile but when it comes to music he can play fantastic sets from goa to Full-on. Morfeas nic - One of the first people to organise underground acid trance and goa parties in Greece in the 90s, known for his rare vinyls and 90s unreleased stuff Stavros Ahimsa - One of the big goa DJs in the 90s in London, now back to Greece since he's quite old (close to 60) but he's still a great DJ that keeps everyone dancing all night! Yiannis Pegkos again (played from 7am till 5 in the afternoon) We are very lucky that I work in the professional sound and lighting industry so I got all of the gear for free (CDJ 2000, DJM700, monitors, subs etc) and I also brought some of my personal stuff. Also, one the guys owns an old house (his grandfather's old grape mill/house) at the fields outside our town. It's very close to town, yet isolated and it's built at a slope, so the sound doesn't reach the road unless there's a southern wind and there's a big balcony and nice terrace underneath surrounded by huge pine trees, it's like it was built in order to become a summer club. The people who came from Athens and other cities, that hadn't been there were blown away, everyone was saying how they didn't expect it to be so beautiful (even though I told them that the place rocks). Some of my conclusions: - Morfeas - played a veeeeery interesting acid trance/goa night set. Party-goers and druggies didn't really like it, music affacionados (like me) loved it AND people who we had invited that rarely or never go to psy parties ALSO LOVED IT, which makes me think that the average party-goer nowadays unfortunanetly can't appreciate music with lower BPMs and can't understand the complexity in the music and the skill in creating a beautiful atmosphere, rather than jumping around like a goat. -Ahimsa - everyone loves some decent banging GOA especially with some quality full-on thrown in! - Proceed with care when dealing with people that consume a lot of drugs (including my 2 co-organisers), they have no honour: 1)Had to chip in more money than agreed, to pay for the DJS, since everyone else (not just the 2 guys, a lot of people were supposed to contribute) was short when it came to pay. However, in the morning they were making calls to buy drugs like they were Scarface.... and don't forget the gear was FREE and I was the one that was responsible for booking the DJs and of course they were expecting their payment from me. 2) Although there were about 20 people left in the afternoon, noone lifted a finger to help me carry the gear on my father's pick up truck. I was awake until then, running on beer, bacardi and a positive attitude and had to also deal with my GF who couldn't get some decent sleep + pay attention that they don't fuck up the gear + care for some idiot who fainted from alcohol. I wanted to make a point with carrying it all myself, but I don't think they got it. 3) They are ungrateful. - If I (not a sound engineer) can get the LOWEST quality speakers and amps to sound decently: How come we go to so many events and the sound is horrible, why so much obsession with volume rather than quality? and this goes for big events too, not just your average underground party. I would gladly do everything again and I was very pleased that the organisation was perfect despite me practically running the place alone (they other 2 guys were busy consuming all kinds of substances). The only thing that I would change is the financial commitment..... All money up-front (DJ's money) + collateral for damages to equipment and they won't get money back unless the carry all the gear. I took very few pictures but I'll upload some later and some people all took videos.

I'm (we are) quite lucky in Athens to have Haris Papadimitriou AKA Dj Fishimself who the past years has brought some of the biggest old-school legends in his place or other clubs: Antaro,UX, Orion, BotfB, Lunar Asylum, BPC, UX, Shakta, Darshan(didn't really like it), Tsuyoshi, Kuro, Tim Schuldt and many more so I don't have to travel abroad to catch them. I know he's also been talking with Chi-AD. One group that I constantly keep missing at festivals because of timetable clashes or sleep or stupidity is Slinky Wizard. My haven't-heard-definetly-want-to-hear list Slinky Wizard Transwave old-school Artha Khetzal Ovnimoon (I know, only in South America) Dimension 5 Chi-Ad Human Blue I feel kinda proud that a lot of the names that you are mentioning, I've caught. But living in Europe and having the gem that is 'Harris" in Athens is really the reason.

I think the previous one was not that bad (the one were the evil guy was called Khan) but "Beyond" was crap... It's amazing how you can make a spacecraft that hasn't operated in centuries, just start moving with very little work, you just plug the cables, say some stupid Mumbo Jumbo and KAABBBBOOOOM it starts flying again, easier than fixing a bike. I've been dissapointed with many of the series that I used to enjoy: X-men Apocalypse: Total crap, even though Days of Future past and First class (my favorite X-men film) were very good! Bourne: I like all previous 4 Bourne movies, this one not at all. I started falling asleep at the final car chase, it was so predictable and so not-believable.... and NO it wasn't because he was in Athens at the beginning of the film and they made it look like a city of chaos/anarchy Star Trek: Read above Marvel Cinematic Universe: Civil war was OK, Avengers 2 was so/so... I have high hopes for Dr. Strange. As for Warcraft, I was never a fan, but a lot of my friends used to play the game so I went to watch it. It was OK, but nothing special. Generally I've been quite disappointed by blockbusters and most films that I went to watch at the Cinema. However, there's one film I saw last year that totally touched me and it's gone into the "Favorite Movies List": Me, Earl and the Dying girl It's a masterpiece!

I'm anxiously awaiting for the new Testament album. They've already released a Same-titled EP (Brotherhood of the Snake) and it's a great track, it has a lot of Hardcore elements which I really like. Testament is one of the few old Thrashers that still make good music. And we are also lucky in Athens that we will be of the first people to listen to the new tracks on Nov 28 (Will definitely be there). I have a veeeeeeeeeeery buys concert schedule on November. October seems like the Goa months this year and November the Metal month. Don't know about the album. However, he's playing in Sweden next month (I know Belgium, is not that close to Sweden, just mentioning it). A friend of mine was so impressed with his music that he invited him to play at a private party in 2 weeks (with payment of course) at a friends house up in the mountains, the only problem that we have is that he lives in Serres now (that's 600Km North) and we thought that he was living in Athens, so if we are to pay another ~200eur for his plane tickets, then the budget gets blown out of proportions and I'm sure you are aware of the financial situation of most young people in Greece. Since I work in a company that does big audiovisual productions (concerts, TV production, clubs etc) I can get high quality sound equipment for free and I also have my own gear which I usually pick up from studios or clubs that go bankrupt or close down, so I get them for very cheap or even free. So in terms of gear we are all set. However, if we are to pay ~500 eur for the various DJs payments and expenses, we are fucked, unless a lot of people chip in.

I prefer his side projects rather than Oforia. Most of the stuff is top notch! My favorite is definitely Tandu and my favorite track is "Visually distorted", specially the melody at the last 2 minutes.

I guess some of you might already know of Alwoods (Giannis Rigas from Greece). I've had the pleasure of listening to his progress almost from his first record. In the past years (since I'm also in Athens), I've been to his gigs several times, most of the times he was opening for Ultimae Records guys (Aes Dana, Asura, Solar fields...) or others in a similar genre, be it chill, uptempo ambient or prog artists (Vibrasphere). So, last night he was the main act for, I think, the second time (the other time was when he was presenting his second album), presenting some stuff from his upcoming album. I can say that Giannis has reached a phenomenal level of musical achievement. He's taken the old ultimae sound and made it more twisty and psychedelic sometimes a bit faster or heavier. Overall, what I intrigued me. was his ability to create an engulfing atmosphere, everyone was just drawn in and taken away... The only other person that, in this genre (let's say uptempo ambient or prog/chil) has managed to create such a beautiful atmosphere has been, Aes Dana and not always (I've heard him almost 10 times). Giannis, since last night, has joined my Pantheon of amazing producers. The last time that I can think of me being so engulfed into the music was with Battle Of the Future Budhas... It's a tottaly different genre of course, but both times I was totally locked and didn't want to miss a thing (sounds a bit Cheesy...) Check his music if you haven't... It's great.... If you think about it, almost all the Detroit/Chicago pioneers were black. However, there very few African-American DJs in electronic music, except for those people in the end of the 80s.

The Lada Niva is a beast of a car. It never breaks down and can go to places that most other Off-roads wouldn't even dare approach. However, it consumes so much fuel that you'll go bankrupt if you use it a lot.

I'm a Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor for adults (part-time, only twice a week at a small local Martial arts gym). My usual training regiment is: Twice a week I run for about 1 to 1.30 hours at the track and then I do interval sprints along with crunches, pull ups, push ups and other calisthenic (without weights) exercises Twice a week I lift weights: I have 2 types of training: One is your typical power lifter/Olympic weight lifter training, very few exercises, very few sets with very heavy weights (this is for raw brutal strength development). The other is anaerobic endurance training, it's a bit like cross fit but more focused towards grappling and wrestling. If I feel like I have a lot of energy I do the crossfit style, if I feel lazy I do the heavy weights Twice a week I grapple at the gym. During the summer I swap the running for swimming. During August I was very lazy and hardly trained. Now I'm getting back on track and as soon as I move to my new house I intend to do the aerobic training (running) everyday before work and join a competitive MMA gym that's about 30km from here. I don't intend to fight in MMA but I miss the times that I used to train with the savages at one of the biggest MMA gyms in Athens (Gracie Barra Athens, Draculino team). It helps that at both my current and next house I have my own fully equipped gym.

It's not just a female thing !!!!!ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Strange coincidence !!!!!!!!!!ALERT!!!!! I was just talking to my boss and he started saying how there's a buyer that will come to check the Fiat 500 (the one that I hate) and he is willing to pay up to 5.000 eur. I was glad, because I hate the car and was thinking that he would buy something practical for work like a small van (i.e caddy, doblo, berlingo, Kangoo etc). So I ask him "So what you buying instead?" and he replies " A BMW X3 2.0 Diesel"....... I literally wanted to scream.....It's such a dumb, expensive, impractical choice AAAAANNND we won't be able to drive it to do chores and visit customers. We will be left with an old FIAT Punto that looks like it just came out of the demolition derby.

Obviously, different areas have different needs. In Greece, with taxation and fuel prices being very high, hardly anyone buys a car over 1.4 liters and most people buy diesel because it's 20% cheaper than unleaded at the pump. also Diesel engines burn less fuel. In the countryside everyone buys diesel pick up trucks because they have very low taxation when registered for agricultural use, so the mountains and fields of Greece are filled with enormous Hilux, Navara, Safari and Amarok which people also use as their everyday car (obviously they don't have to go through the traffic of big city centres on a daily basis). I don't know what's it like in Finland!

I like my car to be agile and responsive, traffic in Athens is a pain in the ass so I need it to have acceleration and maneuverability. The Corsa (Diesel), Panda (diesel), Hyundai i20 (Diesel) and Yaris (Diesel) all have that, the VW polo not so much and the Megane definetely not. They say the new Clio (Diesel) is good but I haven't driven it. However, I'm only talking about me being a single person and I want a car that's economic in purchase price, parts and fuel consumption (Diesel only) and below 1.4 liters for taxation purposes. If I had a family, I'd make different choices and if I didn't have the need to visit Athens often, I could settle for something else. Also, I guess prices can be different in different countries but VW is known for having very expensive spares When I bought my car I was between the Corsa (Diesel) and the Panda (Diesel) (as I mentioned above they both had the same engine) but the Panda was significantly cheaper (below 10.000 eur) than the Corsa. The Yaris was something like 15.000 eur for 1.4 Diesel. Edit:My car is the Panda 1.3 Turbodiesel Multijet Edit 2: The reason my car was so cheap at that time, was because Fiat was preparing to launch the Panda 3

At my close family we have and had a lot of cars, both European and Asian... and my friends have/had a lot of cars (until the crisis hit Greece and now everyone is selling them), plus I drive various company cars, so I'll give you my opinions. I don't know what kind of car you want, I assume something to go around in the city and probably not a family car. I have a Fiat Panda Diesel (previous gen) and my GF has a Fiat Panda 4x4 (previous gen unleaded), I've also driven the new Fiat panda at recent business trips, both Diesel and Unleaded. I can honestly say that my Panda (previous gen), beats the shit out of the new panda,the Panda 4x4 and the Panda (previous gen) unleaded. Fiat had massive success with the Multijet Diesel engine and it's no coincidence that except for Toyota, VW and Renault almost all other small diesel cars used that engine: Peugeot/Citroen, Honda, Opel, Mitsubishi etc. It's strong (especially the Turbo version) and it's economic. So even if you buy and Opel Astra Diesel or a Mitsubishi Colt Diesel, underneath it probably has the Fiat Multijet Diesel Engine. A friend of mine has a Citroen C (something, can't remember which number) that has the Multijet engine (non Turbo though) and when I drove it, it found slow and a bit sluggish because it is a much heavier car. However, the Opel Astra Diesel with the Multijet is also very strong and agile just like the Panda. I have no idea how the cars that I mentioned above behave with an unleaded engine, nowadays everyone drives Diesel here. The Toyota yaris is a direct competitor for the cars above but it is about 5000 eur more expensive (NEW), it is a very good car though (I test drived it). Also, I wouldn't got near VW. As much as people praise them, I've heard way too many horror stories for my liking. I drove a rented VW Golf (unleaded) around Spain for 2 weeks, it's OK but I wouldn't buy it. At my company I drive a Fiat 500 (Unleaded).....It's slow, it's sluggish, it consumes a lot of fuel. Don't even go near it. I also drive a Megane at work (Unleaded)... Don't like it all. A lot of people drive pick-up cars here (agricultural area): My father and my uncle have a Toyota hilux, my other uncle a Navara and my cousin a Mitsubishi Safari (All diesel). They are all very good cars but I think the Toyota Hilux is the most value for money and it's very durable. That's my limited hands-on knowledge on cars. A lot of it come from me reading and test driving cars around 2011, when I bought my Fiat Panda diesel and from the cars that I have driven.

I don't enjoy most of the hiphop/rap, whether it is American or not. However, this track I always enjoy for the part between 2:30 and 2:40, I always laugh when I listen to it even though I've heard it hundreds of times "Στο γνωστό παρκάκι με ένα ταλιράκι.... και θα πίνω πίνώ πίνω και ποτέ δεν θα το δίνω..." Translastion: ... at my usual park with 5.000 drachmas... and I'll smoke smoke smoke, but I'll never share..."

I think it's nice! I think it needs some mastering, but I liked both tracks. When I clicked play I was cringing, in case it was some hightech or fullon.... But it's good stuff!

Just like most things in life, you need to start from the basics/the beginning. I'd recommend to also start to listen the predecesors of goa/psy. Like FSOL, Orbiral, the detroit techno sound, the balaeric sound, acid house, acid trance, old school german techno, indsutrial. This will also help you with your mixing, since at the beginning, there weren't so many channels or effects but still they produced fantastic music. Then, you need to also have your personal taste. Do you want to play goa? Prog? Minimal? Full-on? With Prog and Minimal you can play around with your cd or mixer effects (that's if you have some decent gear) or even an isolator (very common for house music). For goa, that's much harder to do because of all the layering, it's more of a matter of knowing the tracks rather than fiddling around with them. That's some small advice from me. There are Pro DJs and artists in the forum who can give you much more technical info.

Hadn't heard neither bands, but they are not bad.. but they are more on the hardcore/punk side, which I enjoy! Edit: Municipal waste specially, is quite good!
