I voted for that one too.. very beautiful chill

I was in doubt about abakus and kaya project, but chose the later because it has more ´depth´ and ´alive´ feeling to it...

sure is odd that i'm the only one who vote robot-o-chan

I voted for it too :)

I listened to it just few hours ago and it still sends shivers down my spine! It's unbelievably psychedelic, harmonic and very musical...

On my private list second place goes to HuxFlux' second album, closely followed by Wizzy Noise, Shakta and Misted Mupets :)

Technically speaking, new Cosmosis CD should be considered as a 2004 release (that's what is says on digipack), though it was released only 3 weeks ago...

Filteria wins by far! After a while I didn't find it as good so it just stayed on my shelf... but then I played it again a few weeks ago and it was AWESOME!!! Somehow it all grew on me. Whereas at first I found the tracks to be lacking indiduality now I found each track had it's distinct personality. Also whereas at first I found it sounded almost like a copy of IFO now I find it has it's own style, similar to IFO but distinct nonetheless. All in all I have been listening to this album a LOT more now than when I first got it!!

Heavy rotation right now. I fell in love.

the abakus album is nice and all, but nothing special imo

I somewhat agree.

Beautiful music, and very enjoyable, but nothing new really.

Can I vote for another album? Open, fucking great piece of plastic. It is not one of my favourite progressive albums, or favourite trance albums, it is really a seminal work for anyone that is even remotely interested in any electronic music. Really different and really beautiful.

My favourites would be:

Frogacult

Freq

Son Kite

(& Atmos)

Also still enjoying V/A - Prooved vol 2 on the revived Plastic Park Rec's

In the chill department I would have to say:

Shuman (timeless classic) & Bluetech

Tough choice between " BLT & Danny Makov - Anything u want " and " The Misted Muppets" , guess depends on what mood u'r in.

Right now i'm in The Misted Muppets mood.

  • 3 weeks later...

Cool, I'm not too late :D

Definately by far my fave album for 2004 was Freq - Strange Attractors. I absolutely love this album, never fails to bring a huge smile to my face. Perfect.

Also love the Vatos Locos - Attack and Release album. Very very good I reckon. Another album I don't seem to tire of.

About the Abakus album - I love most releases on Liquid Sound Design, and I bought this album expecting great things. LIke others have said, it's ok, but nothing outstandingly special. There is one track which I absolutely hate, it reminds me of shopping in a furniture shop, elevator music stylee. Can't remember which track off the top of my head (think its around track 3 ish), but it kind of ruins it for me a bit. Mwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

It is really hard to actually decide the very best but my vote definately goes to FILTERIA- SKY INPUT. My second pick would be JUNO REACTOR - LABYRINTH after which I likede TALPA - THE ART OF BEING NONE most. Wasn't SHULMAN released in 2003 ? Well, in the end of it, so maybe it counts as 2004, but anyway, that would be my fourth favourite album from last year. Last year was pretty good year...
