  1. Artist: Terrafractyl Title: A Speck of Dust Label: Kinematic Records Date: March, 2013 1. Thoughts of Mind 2. Retribalization 3. Care to Join Us (Vs Launchpad) 4. A Speck of Dust 5. Machinery of Nature http://kinematicrecords.bandcamp.com/album/a-speck-of-dust Terrafractyl is a name synonymous with the Aussie morning psy scene, and one that every self respecting doofer knows well by now. Over the last decade or so he has been pushing forward his own unique blend of melodic morning psytrance with hints of jazz and extreme doses of psychedelia, all tied together in a funky musical and uplifting way. Following up from the success of last years Electronic Evolution, Felix Greenlees brings us this five track EP - A Speck of Dust.. At once evoking images of the vast expanse of space in an all too distant universe, A Speck of Dust continues right where last years Electronic Evolution left off, perhaps taking things in a slightly different direction for those with discerning ears. From the opening notes you are instantly transported into the familiar Terrafractyl world filled to the brim with psychedelic intricacies just waiting to be explored by the intrepid traveller... A Speck of Dust is a journey in and of itself. The first track Thoughts of Mind is a true to form Terrafractyl masterpiece that will send any listener on a trip through inner space.. Wasting no time it kicks off with a funky bassline and intricately reverberating psychedelic leads that weave their way through the audio spectrum. Some perfectly placed samples reignite the track halfway through as some deft percussions work keeps things flowing nicely until the climax. 7/10 Retribalization is an absolutely stellar track that captures the imagination and sends the mind reeling and the feet stomping. Some of the most psychedelic sounds of the album flow throughout as Felix’ audio wizardry shines through. Perfectly pitched leads guide the listener gently through the vast landscape while a funky beat underlays the whole thing throughout. 8/10 Care to Join Us is a slightly darker track starting with a beautiful sample and growing to a crescendo at its peak that has a break and vocal samples that will send any dancefloor into a frenzy. 8/10 The title track, A Speck of Dust is a prototypical Terrafractyl track, continuing with the theme of human evolution and our not too distant future. Big basslines and funked out sounds all the way through, with lush piano lead melodies spiralling and swirling throughout. 8/10 The last track The Machinery of Nature is more progressive in style, with a gentle and building flow, reminiscent of some of Felix’s other projects almost, but with the distinct Terrafractyl style. 7.5/10 Overall this EP flows gradually and precisely through an almost dark vaccuum of humanity, possibly some of his “darkest” tracks yet, in the context of Terrafractyl at least. It takes a peek at our coming future, the hopes, possibilities and dreams as we truly enter the electronic age. From classic style morning tracks to more progressive, almost Hypnagog like sounds. A Speck of Dust is a beautiful aural journey and one of my favourite Terrafractyl releases yet, and thats saying a lot. Overall: 8/10

PSYCHEDELIC FREEDOM IDEAOLOGY Psychedelic Freedom equals the by birth inherited right to be in charge of ones own mind. To freely explore your own mind without interference by external intruders of any kind. The right to remain loving, happy and peaceful within. To try to expand ones mental capabilities is a right and, possibly, almost a must, in order for personal, spiritual and societal evolution to occur. Psychedelic = Mind expansion, altered consciousness or a type of Mind "delirium" If anybody tries to mess with your mind through whatever means they are violating the basic right to Psychedelic Freedom. This can be done in several ways like: TV brainwash, subliminal advertising, dis-information, artificially induced post-traumatic stress, deliberately induced stress of any kind, non consented intake of mind inhibiting psycho pharmaceuticals (like the chlorine in the drinking water), or any other activity that willfully induces a delusive inner (or outer) world view on a fellow sentient living entity. We are all perfectly entitled to remain loving, content and peaceful within. ABOUT THE ARTIST Qubenzis Psy Audio aka Ricky Mard, originally from Sweden is the human power behind the Qubenzis Project ! When Q.P.A came in contact with the psychedelic subculture it inspired him to investigate more about this music style. To Qubenzis Psy Audio psytrance represents a symbiosis of nature, technology, spirituality and music, a kind of electronic shamanism or a high tech Gnostic search for inner self in connection with the Universe. Not only... Qubenzis Psy Audio has been in music for many years producing other music styles, including samples and loop packs for many artists and own production. He is An artist, musician, dj and sound designer who creatively explores and expands ideas about what psychedelic trance music can be. A powerful musical journey with fusion of electronic dance music aimed for psytrance listeners whose intelligence craves more than just a thumping beat. 3. Information : Artist : Phobia Title : Adaptation Label : Tactic Records Date : 24 June 2008 Genre : Psy-trance Tracklist : 1. Misconduct 2. Third Stream 3. Mix Shake 4. Grind (Phobia Remix) 5. Plant Yourself 6. Adaptation 7. Night Parade 8. Culture Hall 9. The Rite of Spring 10. Counter Point Review : Phobia, the psychedelic trance project (Don't confuse it with the drum n bass artist), made one, and only one Album, called Adaptation. It has not reach a high succes, however it does not remove anything to the great quality and to the amazing tracks of this album. The most known track made by Phobia is surely Turbulence, which one isn't include in this album. Let's have a further look in this album ! Miscondust : The first track of this album is just A-M-A-Z-I-N-G ! It start with some Piano notes and finish in a whole symphony ! On 1:08, Phobia give the song it's kick and bassline. Fast come background sounds and melodies. The song grow up, than come a break, and so on. All that is greatly done, but the best is coming later. At 3:08, you can clearly hear the main melodies coming up, and on 3:25 the whole stuff is just released. Waouv ! Amazing melodies, never heard such thing in any other Psychedelic trance song. It seriously sound like a Mozart melody, in a modern way, under a psychedelic form. At 4:24 come a break, but fast the main melody come back, this time it sound differently than before, and I've to say this second part of the song is a little bit disappointing. I mean, it's still good, going with build up and break, it kept the great melody, but it isn't as good as the first part of the song. Well anyway, how could Phobia throw it better than he did in the first part ? Anyway, a great song, for sure the best of the album, and one of the best Psychedelic Trance song I ever heard ! Third Stream : The song start with some strange sound, but then come the great bassline with nice kick. Everything is building up and on 1:27, Phobia just release all that to give the song a nice dynamic. Later you can hear a sample and some background sounds. I personnaly like it, it give this song a nice atmosphere, not as deep as an Atma song, but still phobia is doing it well. However, the melodies are less present than it was in the previous song. You have to wait until 5:27 to be able to hear the main melody. But then, it come, and ooh boy, it come very nicely, growning up slowly but surely ! And on 6:00 the whole stuff is just droped. Pretty good song, however the main melody could have been more worked. Mix shake : This time Phobia starts it with a melody, and than the song is growing up. In this track, voice samples are used a lot. I like how Phobia edited the voice samples and played with it during the whole song. Sur, it's not as good as how Infected Mushroom does it, but it's still nicely done. On 2:17 come the bassline and kick, and for sure everyone aren't going to like it, however I do. With the voice sample that come then, it just give this track a nice rythmic. On 3:59, you can hear some acid sounds, which actualy fits well with the song. And at 5:17, you can clearly hear the main melody. Very nice, sounding like if Mozart made it, seriously ! And than Phobia add the bassline, and everything is greatly growing up, with another melody in background. At 6:10, the song is clearly taking another dimension, playing with the melodies, giving the whole track a great dynamic and power. The basslines aren't exceptionnal, it's quite basic bassline, but the melody are greatly done, you can feel that Phobia worked a lot on them. Another great song ! Grind (Phobia remix) : This is a remix of the song "Grind", made by Tactic Mind and Loud. This track sound differently from the other one of the album. It has a darker Atmosphere, with a heavier kick. The song isn't very interesting until 3:23 . Until there, except nice edited voice samples, there's nothing extraordinary. But on 3:23, the song is growing up, and on 3:35 it's just amazing ! Very nice bassline and kick. Another big break, and the whole thing is going on again on 5:15. Nice background melody and nice growing up stuff ! It's on 5:44 that the entire thing is just droped. That's nice, but not as good as in the other track of the album. Overall, a correct track but far away from the first one ! Plant yourself : Again, some voice sample, growing up stuff, and at 0:55 come kick and the nice bassline. As in the other song, background melodies and some acid sounds are used to build the track up. I don't like much the background sound on 2:31, that doesn't sound very well, but except that, there's not much things to say : the track is nicely builded up, but it miss of something big, with a great melody, at the middle of the song. But it's at 5:00 that the song is being great. a voice sample come with a background melody - which is slowly growing up, until reaching it's higher point. And on 5:42, you can hear an amazing symphony, a great combinaison realized with kick, bassline, snare, hat, melodies and spacy sounds...Something that, again, I've never heard in any other Psychedelic Trance song, except in the other track of this album. A good track, but why do we have to wait so long to realize that the track is so amazing ? Could be better if the first part of the song included more melodies ! Adaptation : Another song with some good melodies ! However, in this one, except the good melodies, there's nothing that stand out of the track ! It's still nicely going on, with good ascents and break, but the track isn't amazing. Not a bad song, but the worse one of the album. Night Parade : The song start with a strange sound, I don't really like it. Then, as for the other track, come the kick and bassline. It's not bad, but it's a bit getting repetitiv. I means, the bassline isn't amazing, backgrouds effects sound are still made of good quality, but there's nothing exceptionnal. But the "second" part of the song (I means after the big break at the middle of the song), at 4:20, changes everything. It's slowly but surely growing up, using a voice sample from the famous film "8 Miles" (I was watching this film the other day, when suddenly I heard someone speaking in the film, and my brain was like "Oooh I already heard that in a psychedelic trance song !"). And on 4:59, Phobia is giving all the stuff he got, to give this track a great dynamic, with nice melodies and background sounds. But here again, why do we have to wait all this time to be able to hear this nice builded up stuff ? So, not a bad song, but I would say that the first part of the song isn't very good. It's in the second part of the song that things are good ! Culture Hall : This song contains some french samples, which you do not often hear in Psychedelic trance song (Except in some Jaia's song). It uses nice effects and background sounds, but as for the other song, the first part of the track isn't very amazing. It's when come a big break, at the middle of the song, and especially when everything is dropped, at 4:39, that this track is getting awesome. At 4:39, there's a very nice bassline with nice melody going on in background. At 6:25, the song reach it's higher point. This is at this moment that the whole symphony is going on, with good kick and bassline, awesome background effect and a great melody ! A good track, but the first part of the track still need few improvements. The rite of Spring : One of my favourite song of the album, because you don't have to wait the middle of the song to hear something exceptionnal. During the whole song, Phobia use edited voice samples and some melodies to build up this great track. On 1:56, by example, the voices samples goes very well with the rest of the song. I've to say the kick is very powerfull and the bassline is quite good. Sure, that doesn't sound like any other psychedelic trance track, but this is also what make this track so original and pleasant to listen. There is always something different going on. By example, at 3:17, a nice melody grows up in background. There isn't any moment where you find it repetitiv, Phobia always give you something awesome to listen. On 3:56, it's just amazing how the melody sounds good ! Counter Point : Here we go with last track of the album. Another song with many melodies, accompanied with nice bassline and kick. I've to say that at the beginning of the song, it contains the melodies that I do like the less of the entire album. It's correct, but it could have be better if the melodies were simply different at the start. However, this sound like something fresh in the psychedelic trance genre, something that I've never heard before, and this contribute to make this album so particular. In the second part of the song (starting at 5:30, slowly building up and going to a very nice melody !), you can hear a very nice melody with nice background sounds. And on 6:09, you have another great symphony, with amazing melody, later accompanied with samples that fit it very well. A very nice track, not one of the best of the album, but still a good one ! Overall : Adaptation is definitly an amazing psy-trance album ! Every track sounds like not any other psy-trance track does, which make it very fresh and pleasent to listen. Almost every songs contain incredible melodies, with great ascents and break, leading to awesome symphony ! Just damn it that for a lot of track, the second part, when everythings stop and when come a big break and then when the song build up again, is the best part of the song. Often, the first part only lay the foundation of the track with the kick, the basslines and some backgrounds sound. A lot of track could have been better if the main melody were use since the start of the track to build something big. The first track of the album is a great example : since the debut of the song, you can hear the main melody, but it's only at the middle of the song that you hear this melody at it's best point, when it's totally developped. Sure, it's also a question of personnal taste, and everybody aren't going to be agree with my opinion, but this is one of my favourite psychedelic trance album. I never ever heard such symphonies in any other Psychedelic trance song, that what make this Album so good. Best track : 1, 9 Worst track : 6 Rating : 9/10 To buy it : Psyshop Discogs Amazon

  9. Artist: O.O.O.D. Title: You Think You Are Label: Vertigo Records Date: November, 2012 1. KARR 2. The Philosopher's Tone 3. Inner Inca 4. The King And Eye 5. Bube (The Tube) 6. Happiness (OOOD Remix) - FORUFREEZER 7. Dum Dum 8. English Pizza (OOOD Remix) - OOOD AND LOOPUS IN FABULA 9. Shpiral 10. Eye Of The Beholder (Sonic Species rmx) - OOOD AND OTT I haven't listened to an O.O.O.D. album since aLive. Is that wrong? It was so good that I didn't want to f*ck any of it up by listening to their style change. Stupid really, because as any artist will tell you, unless you're Boris Blenn your music should evolve and grow. I know they made other albums...the one with the egg thingy and then the brains on the cover. Never heard them so...I'm guessing they're not making goa any longer? Nope. They do more. Let's start with the project which is a four piece outfit that plays live with real drums, guitars, and keyboards. They just don't stand behind a deck and twiddle knobs while getting blown by a groupie. They're actual musicians so they have talent. I mean, they're DJ's too, so they probably get their fair share of chicks with daddy issues. Aside from their first album, all I know is that Colin has made a name for himself in the mastering field. So what are they up to? Eclectic. Original. I would say their style on this album is psychedelic and would call it Suomi-like, if they were looney toon Finns. But they're from the UK and the craziest people I met when I was over there were the soccer fans. Dems some crazy f*ckers. I love hockey, but I'll be damned if I wanna fight anyone over it. There are all kinds of crazy sound manipulation going on all the while getting that groove going. It's out there at times, I mean who would think of putting Elvis and a 303 together? They did, and it's damn good. Bube (The Tube) is some funky sh*t Crystal Method would be proud of. That bass is pure filth and volatile fuel for the dance fire. They play with different rhythms and draw from a lot of genres. Sometimes it's techno or breakbeat or...whatever, but rest assured it's always with an eye for you people to shake your tukus. Like moving the back end? I defy you not to get down to English Pizza. It's like the soul train awards up in here. "Hey blonde chick! Get back behind the decks! Save your talent for the uh, talent!" Also I wanted to note that they didn't end with the cliche downtempo number. Nope, they tore the doors off with a pretty good storming track full of bass snarls and more pounding than a headache. The sound quality is top notch so you hear every note and sound they intended. Is it perfect? Of course not. I would say there isn't one track that you simply must hear. They all have their quality moments, but nothing stands out head and shoulders above the rest. And when that happens you have to really pay attention to detail because when you hear a cracker you know it. You feel it. And that guy isn't here. But the funky stuff is here for all to enjoy. And if you pay attention you will also appreciate the detail behind this. Yeah it's not goa, but you know what? Grow up. Psyshop Beatspace Goastore Mdk

  17. Information : Artist : Atma Title : The Secrets of Meditation Label : Yellow Sunshine Explosion Date : 03 January 2009 Genre : Psy-trance Tracklist : 1. Intro 2. Fortress of the Mind 3. Timeless Solitude 4. The Secrets Of Meditation 5. Moments Of Truth 6. The Dome Of The New Era 7. Paranormal Activity 8. The Tomes Of Power 9. Spiritualism And Love 10. The Rise Of Overman Review : Here we go ! After it's first album, Beyond Good and Evil, Atma come back with another album, this time realized under another label : Yellow Sunshine Explosion...This label is know to be a massive "Goa" compilation production, and most of time they doesn't make good releases. But some time it happend that they give some good stuff, and trust me, this is what happend with this album from Atma ! Atma is well know for making tracks having strong kick with great bassline, accompanied with beautiful melodies. With this album he definitly confirmed that he's one of the pioneer of the Psy-trance scene. Intro : Not much to say about it, a short introduction, nothing really amazing there. Fortress of the Mind : The song start after a very short introduction, and here comme a pretty kick with nice bassline. Slowly but surely, some tune begin to grow up. In this track, Atma build up a fantastic atmosphere, spacy and deep. A nice song, althought melodies could have been more developped. Timeless Solitude : Definitly a very good track ! Still with a heavy kick and nice bassline, Atma create a complete atmosphere with this song : he builds the main melody using break, short light tune, and he rise his song with new tunes and melodies ! When you listen to this song, you really feel being in a Spaceship travelling out of the earth. Solid realisation, however instead of building a main melodie, Atma decided to come with some strange noisy sound at end of the track, wich is good and bad : good because it really enhance the atmosphere of the track, bad because it doesn't give this song a true powerful melody. The Secret of Meditation : What a track ! What a melody ! What a kick ! What a bassline ! Well, this is for me one of the best track of this album. The kick and bassline give a strong energy to the track, while the background tune establish the spacy atmosphere of this song. The voice samples fits also very well this track. On 1:47 come a break, and it's there that Atma decide to give the complete beautiful Melody of the song. And on 2:23, he throws all the element he got to give this track a powerfull energy. Rest of the song is filled with original tune, always giving something more to the song, and also filled with nice break. Amazing track, respect ! Moments Of Truth : The song start with a Piano melody, which is not one of the best melody of this album but which is ok. Than as for the other track, the whole stuff is coming with kick, bassline, tune in background making nice atmosphere. However, the main melody is really what I don't like in this song. I mean this melody at start sound ok, but it's when Atma developes it more that I don't like it. I don't know, this ain't a bad melody at all but this ain't neither a great melody too. At 5:37 it's getting better with nice background tune. A good track but one of the worse of this album (Still a good track !). The Dome Of The New Era : Very short intro to start, and fast come this loud kick with good bassline...Than the kick is raised up, a strong kick ! In this track, I don't like the melody but I love the background Tune, they are very nice and you really feel like being in another part of this world. At 5:36, Atma offer us a great breakdown part of this song, this is really amazing how he slow the track down keeping this spacy atmosphere ! And than he just give back to the track it's standard energy, doing it very well ! A very nice track, not by it's melodies, but by the technics used to make the structure of the track. Final melody make it sound like alien, very nice ! Paranormal Activity : No need to say that : great kick and bassline, always in the same kind of style but never the same as you hear in the other track. How to describe this song ? Nice melodies, good background tune who make you feel this track has been written on Mars (haha), and nice track's structure. That's a good track of this album, not one of the best but not one of the worse ! The Tomes Of Power : At start, you hear a voice sample, than come background tune and noise...Until here, everything is ok. Than come some breakdown, well brought. On 2:20 you can even hear some guitar's riff, the first you may hear in this album, and that fit well with the track. But then, come this horrible melody, at 2:33 (in background), wich for me just kill the track ! It's really a shame, all was great until there, but this melody doesn't fit at all with this track. It sound good, but I don't like how the note are thrown. I don't even talk about the melody going up on 4:08 : it sound good but note are not well thrown. Still it's an okay track, not bad but could be much better. Worse track of the album personnaly ! Spiritualism And Love : This track begin with a growing up volume, giving this song a little "introduction". The background tune are very nice. This is a more progressive track than the other (You could even find this track on Goa 2009 Vol 1, from YSE), but that's one of the best of the album ! Great break at 2:19, you really feel emotion hearing the melodies and background tunes. Nothing more to say ; good structure, amazing atmosphere, and very good sounds used. Very nice track ! The Rise Of Overman : Last track of this great album, and for the end Atma give the best. For me that is definitly the best track of this album, and one of the best of whole Atma's song until now ! Kick and bassline are good, but the best is for sure the melody. At 1:52 you can clearly hear it. Man ! That's it ! Spacy, deep, light but strong ! How can you make it better ? Excellent tune in background too. This track as also a great energy. I feel so many emotion with the amazing melodies you find in this track. Good structure of the track too. Overall : What an album ! For every song, it's the the same recipe : building the atmosphere with background tune and giving energy with kick and bassline. Atma does it for every track but it always sounds good and it's never getting repetitiv, it's what make this album great ! Most of the melodies used are beautiful. The presence of amazing song like "Secret of Meditation", "Spiritualism and Love" and "The Rise of Overman" make this album a must-have for those who love Psychedelic Trance ! Best Track : 4, 9, 10. Worst track : 5, 8. Rating : 8,5/10 To buy it : Psyshop Amazon Itunes

It's a lot to digest so I'll just try and throw some bullet points at you. This is a dark themed compilation that is free at Ektoplazm. Such a giver that guy. In the beginning while still dark it's more accessible night time full-on. As you get deeper into this it becomes more heavy. Darker. Ending with what can only be described as darkpsy composed while riding a speeding bullet. Flashback sounded crystal clear with great production and who the hell doesn't want more Mario Brothers? Loosing Control didn't, it was steady and monotonous. Quick Turn isn't very quick at almost 10 minutes and while I like it's gurgling style it needs more evolution. Voltage Controlled Freak is mediocre full-on. Mantrance is a really stupid name for this boring track. There is nothing "man" about it unless it's wearing a dirty wife beater while sleeping on the couch watching Beavis and Butthead amidst half empty pizza boxes. Gaia Power really descended into the moaning of a female. And not the good kind. The End doesn't get here fast enough. Filler. Razors & Ice Cream (System Sequence mix)- The original was great from his 2nd album Dead End and this is a worthy remix. Full of power and acid. Dreams- "I think it's become clear that our sinful ways have damaged the boundary between the living and the dead." If you're going do dream, do it big I say. Do you think he went Gameboy first? Amateur. This hits the twilight button with lots of lasers. You like lasers. We Have all the Power is more proper twilight psytrance with acid flying all over the place and bundles of high energy. One of the best here marred only by that painful buildup near the end. Los Viajeros leans a little on the minimal side, but it eventually wakes up and becomes quite psychedelic. Wrong Serenade- "Give her a little serenade, make her feel at home." You wanna make her feel at home ask her what's for dinner. Psychopsomatics- the people behind this one spent too much time trying to manually tune into a radio station. Meh. Pumpen by Mr. Swedish Nightmare Tommy Axelsson keeps it dark with lots of echoing sounds and effects. Good one. Darkness in my room is really dark. If hell had a soundtrack it might sound like this. Power History is comprised of rumbly basses and Artifakt like abrasive sounds. Liked the funky breakbeat. Against the Evil by Box of Evil...what do you think it's gonna sound like? Surprise! It wasn't as evil as I thought it would be. More twilight in style with too many stops and starts. There's still screaming samples in it if you like that sort of thing. Better Stronger Faster- "We have the technology..." Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Not bad darkpsy track at all. Just a Tiny Taste is a spooky and eerie darkpsy-esque track with some haunting strings. Just a small taste of what it would be like to get lost in an insane asylum after the inmates somehow got out. Indigo Patrol is an exercise in speed. This is what someone on cocaine must feel like after 5 espressos. With a rocket surgically placed in his rectum. Super fast with sounds coming at you from all sides. By the time it was over I needed a cool down. Interesting to listen to, but not my cup of tea. I didn't think this was so great. Of course darkpsy ain't exactly my thing. All the comments are overwhelmingly positive, so those posting seem to follow the "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" mantra. Aren't you lucky I don't subscribe to that point of view. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk
  19. Artist: Various Title: The Persistence of Memory Label: Blue Hour Sounds Date: October, 2012 1. Theory Of Big Bang - ONCE UPON A TIME PLAY 2. Post 100 (Ianuaria rmx) - HUX FLUX 3. Crystallised - GAIANA 4. Hypnotic Quality - GIDO AND AVARA 5. Jack The Tripper - AJJA VS FLOOTING GROOVES 6. Outbound - ANTISPIN 7. Hippy Hoop - MARK DAY 8. Motoremoto - PEYO 9. Movements - JARAMOGI AND NAIMA 10. Expecto Patronum - FLOOTING GROOVES When you say Blue Hour Sounds to me I think of two things. The multi-colored EP's and the exceptional Ianuaria Beware of the Fish album. This Italian label specializes in very detailed stuff with the psychedelic factor turned up to 11. So to see them with a new release I think it's fair to say that my expectations were pretty high. Mastered by Braincell (a guy who knows a thing or two about great psytrance) this album is one of storytelling, but without lots of twists and turns. Hypnotic and hallucinogenic, they supply pumping rhythms as the backbone and allow melodies to slither in amidst healthy effects and delay. For the most part it's pretty psychedelic, but I felt it could've benefited from a bit more detail as there were some thin stretches in the tracks. Sometimes it seemed as if it lacked power or wasn't very dynamic. When you set the bar high it's difficult to maintain that level of quality. That said, there are portions where this is extraordinarily deep and involving. Don't know how that last track made the cut though as it didn't fit with the theme of the album. So it's a good comp if not a little disappointing. Not great, but good. GoaStore Beatspace Psyshop Mdk

  21. Hey there, wanted to share how I mix psytrance. My approach is different than the traditional way of mixing one track into another linearly. It's more like a mashup, where I try to layer two or more tracks at the same time and also I get to decide when to create a build-up, when to throw a break, etc. Hope you like it and I'd like to see more psy djs going crazy in the mix, instead of the same old boring intro/outro transition. Thank you, Namaste!

Flying objects always reach the ground - SNEILA 6. Forest - GOASIA 7. Guetto - GOASIA 8. Paranoid - GOASIA 9. The dreamers guide - SNEILA Yeah, I went old school on you. Wait a minute...that's new school. Old new school. Yeah, I took you to some kind of unfunded learning institution that has old textbooks and one computer in the teacher's lounge running AOL on dial up. Kagdila Records is a USA label and I seem to remember some discussion where artists were unhappy with Mr. Shu-ki Golan. Probably didn't pay them. Great, more reasons to hate the US. Anyway this was an early new school psytrance / goa trance compilation that for me doesn't get started until track number five. Oh there are four tracks before it, but like cold pizza if there's nothing else around I'll eat it. Just not my first choice. Or second. Hmmm....doesn't even rank in my top ten. So that leaves 5 tracks by two projects. Might as well be a Sneila / Goasia EP. Hardly worth paying for a compilation, but I'm a completionist so I did. Flying Objects seemed like a revelation almost a decade ago with it's rolling synthline and at over 10 minutes you're in the clouds for a long time. Forest is pretty good with some quality detail if you listen. I just can't stomach that shanai sounding lead. Moving on to Ghetto it's full of sounds that you wouldn't hear on albums today, but it's diversity makes it a treat. The last Goasia track Paranoid is darker with an eerie atmosphere. The final Sneila track is a hands down growler of a beast. Dark and bubbly with undulating goa fire! So there you go. Not a classic by any means, but it's an early arrow in the quiver of the blossoming new school movement. Psyshop Beatspace Juno Download Beatport Mdk

And he does with an opener that flaunts some high tech atmosphere and moves with a little bad ass swagger. It gets a little rambly, but it eases you into his world. The Creator- Pumping beats and a rolling bass line set you up like bowling pins and he knocks you down with echoing leads and effects. Now. You're playing. With Power. Reality Bomb- "My dear friends you're now about to enter the nerve center. Inside of this room all of your dreams become realities, and some of your realities become dreams." Growling leads, intensity...what is not to like here. Gooey bass sounds, lasers and melodies. It's like Willy Wonka had a wet dream and it came out as cream cheese frosting. Integrated Circuits- Purely an effects driven track that is fit to burst with cyber energy and sounds. Amelodic on its face yet strangely warmed by the hum of machinery. Undulating electronic waves oscillate creating tributaries of neural pathways. Brain Dissolver- "From you alright?!? I learned it from watching you!" Lasers are fired in the opening salvo as more energy drips in fractal shapes on a cold and sterile floor. The layers multiply making this a storming track and a f*cking cracker of an omelet. Spooky Doobi Doo- Sounds fire into the atmosphere as the kick and bass hold you captive. Mesmerized by the spooky 1950's sound the break brings a massive lead streaking across the sky. You can't bury that 303 amidst all those layers. I hear you. Interconnectedness- Bubbling electronic energy hugs the beat and this really reminds me of the work of Braincell (how prophetic). Liquid sounds hang in the air crackling with multi-colored sparks. De-Licious! Human Show- More liquid sounds pool and it maintains the vibe, but this one was a little thin. Peyotl- "Peyote is supposed to give you a sense of peace and a feeling of oneness with nature." Not to mention a wicked high. You always leave that bit out and then you see yourself on YouTube running around a McDonald's with war paint on your face and a three iron in your hand declaring yourself lord and ruler of the deep fryer. Tragically, his mother's words finally rang true and his face did stay like that. This track is slower and preparing you for the come down. That's what I first thought, but the more I listened to it, the more trippy it became. Strange Place- Ending this psychedelic ride is a dubby piece of downtempo. Eerie with racing leads and a drum kit that is so real you'll think it's in your living room. Slower yet not slow it is a great way to come down. So that's his style. Bring the thundering kick to numb you, shower you with effects to transport you into his mind, and hypnotize you with swirling leads. Pretty good formula. There is always something going on with sounds in a perpetual ricochet. The mood is dark, but he doesn't abandon you to the black. He gives you a handrail of light to guide you. Another thing, he flirts with goa like an eighth grader flirts with his sister's blessedly overdeveloped friend during a sleepover. This really is an orgy of electronic bubbling and cyber sounds that create a futuristic and detailed tapestry. A few good tracks, but the rest are spectacular. It's a shame this was never released, but that will change very soon. Psyshop Mdk
