  1. 2014 has marked 20 years of Goa Trance, and I wanted to create something special to mark the occasion. After nearly 5 months of work on this single track, it is ready to share Enjoy and have fun! https://soundcloud.com/angry-dwarf/dwarf-smash
  2. Artist: Various Title: Yellow Label: TIP Records Date: March, 1995 1. The Infinity Project - Stimuli 2. Doof - Let's Turn On 3. Slinky Wizard - Lunar Juice 4. Man With No Name - Teleport 5. Voodoo People - Drop The Bomb 6. The Infinity Project - Oscillator 7. Total Eclipse - Waiting For A New Life 8. Hallucinogen - Shamanix 9. The Infinity Project - Uforica 10. Space Tribe - Machine Elf 11. Mandra Gora - Everything's Going Fine "If I could discover just one of these things, I wouldn't care if they did think I was crazy." Are you f*cking kidding me? No really... Is the review for one of the most complete and comprehensive goa trance compilations located on the dark internet? I'd have an easier time believing Let it Go was written by Pantera. LET IT GO!!!!!!!!!! LET IT GO!!!!!!!!!!! How in the name of all that is holy has this not been put up here? This IS goa trance. Bubbling sounds and rolling melodies provide the alien and mystical atmosphere that goa heads clamor for. It's a who's who of all the great masters from back in the day. This was the Dream Team versus Angola. Such a strong lineup that delivers. And your boy Simon Posford is all over this thing. If they threw in an Etnica and D5 track instead of Mandra Gora and Voodoo people all you would hear was the sound of a microphone dropping ending all discussion on what was the greatest goa trance compilation of all time. Subsequent "face" compilations delivered powerful selections as well, but this was the first and I imagine opened the world's eyes to where electronic music could go. It's not all inclusive, no single compilation could be, but if you want to hear what mid nineties pure goa trance sounds like then this is a superb introduction. I imagine that the hippie to native resident ratio exploded when this came out. "Hurry, it's brown Woodstock man!" But put away your sitar and tablas there's no need to go to Goa these days. It's changed. Too many tranny hookers and yuppies. Mdk

  4. Artist: Various Title: Retrodelic Vibes Vol. 5 Label: Avatar Records Date: March, 2012 1. Z To A - Next Stop Oblivion 2. Earth Nation - Alienated (Earth Mix) 3. Laughing Buddha - Andromeda 4. Technossomy - The Joker 5. Mandra Gora - Wicked Warp (Remix) 6. Crop Circles - Different Species 7. Morphem - Montage 8. Jaia - Mai Mai 9. Domino - A Star Is Born "I don't like uncomfortable silences." Obviously. How about just plain old regular silences? Would that kill you? That would explain why you're prattling on over what would otherwise be a decent track. Everything old is new again in our community and it seems every label has jumped on board this train. I'm not complaining; the goa trance from back in the day was wonderful so new mastering or a fresh coat of paint will always be appreciated. Avatar is one of those labels and this is the fifth chapter in their Retrodelic series. Police Academy, Nightmare On Elmstreet, Saw, Friday the 13th...all once proud franchises that had the life squeezed out of them until there was nothing left. Will this be the curtain call for Retrodelic? I dunno. You're looking at me like I got the inside scoop or something. The market's hot right now for the old goa so normally I'd say nope there is probably more scraping we can do in that nutella jar. But this came out 4 years ago. Been awful quiet for almost half a decade. The tracks here though are great. Well aside from the opening audio vomit. I don't know about mastering I only know what sounds good on my rig or headphones. And this sounds fine. Space Cat did the mastering and I gotta believe that guy knows what the f*ck he's doing. Classic goa that hasn't been beaten to death and shown up on every compilation touting old school bliss. The boom of The Joker, the melodic madness of Crop Circles and the silky smooth trance sounds of Jaia. So get rid of the bookends and you've got a pretty special trip down memory lane. 5. Artist: Various Title: The Live Remixes Label: The Hypnotic LFO Room Date: September, 2014 1. Sheyba - Monkeys (Live Remix) 2. Kailash - Mystery Brain (Live Remix) 3. Undercover - Mission 1 (Live Remix) 4. Kayaa - Braindance (Live Remix) 5. Elysium - Master of the Rainforest (Live Remix) 6. Elysium - Aliens (Live Remix) The great Dane is back! Seems like a lot of artists in our small corner have side projects where they can take their music in different and sometimes experimental directions. Kristian Thinning is no exception as he has made a lot of great music under different pseudonyms. Having fun with some of his old tracks he decided to take the show on the road and now offers it up to us the goa craving public. And my man is doing some work. There is a pumping quality to the tracks, perfect for getting the crowd moving. When the melodies come in it's supremely hypnotic and you can't help becoming swept up in the euphoria. These were all great tracks to begin with, but I believe them to be even better with the changes he's made. They seem shinier, more alluring...maybe even more gritty. Master of the Rainforest (very well known) is more upbeat and dare I say it received a funk injection. Aliens (a track I never really cared for) became more trancey with more bounce. He's not one to stack melodies on top of one another, but more focused on seizing your imagination. Pure goa trance with that tribal swagger he's known for. For 5 f*cking Euro there is no excuse not to own this. Bandcamp Beatport Mdk
  6. Hey guys, Hello everyone! I'm Psara aka Sara Constança, from Cronomi and Suntrip, and this is the first time I write a post in Psynews. I usually don't post my sets in other then Mixcloud and then Facebook, but since this is a very special set with mostly unreleased music, I thought you all would deem this a very interesting share. It's not a good quality one though, the set was uploaded to Mixcloud with lousy MP3 and it's in the low bite rate of 160kpbs. It cannot be shared any other way so please don't ask for download, it's unreleased music! On the 1st of October, 2013, Psara was invited to join Cronomi Records as a label DJ. By then DJ Inada, the Cronomi Records manager, asked Psara to make a set with some Cronomi tracks for the label, but Psara had another thing in mind: the creation of a huge Goa Trance psychedelic story line with only Cronomi music. So it was set in stone that the mix would be recorded at the Old School Gathering, a festival put up by the Goadelic Freaks Movement every year since 2010 in the mountains of central Portugal, and it was going to be a Cronomi Tribute special DJ set. OSG being without a doubt the most significant Goa Trance venue in our country. Eight months later with the help and effort of Cronomi artists, M-Run, Artha, New Born and Psysutra — with full support from Inada — Psara had accumulated enough unreleased music to create a well-built mix for a sunrise morning set. Not only this is just Cronomi music but it also is all unreleased music from Cronomi Records. A very special set to represent both Psara and Cronomi, showcasing some of the best Goa Trance being created today. From 6am still dark passing through the full shine sunrise at about 7am, this morning set ends a bit past 9.30am. Three hours and a half of totally new and awesome unreleased music! | MIxed on CDJs and recorded live with a Tascam DR40 (classic style Goa Trance mixing) | All cover and logo design by Sara Constança aka Psara * All tracks are unreleased except the intro, the first and the third tracks, and then one in the middle. The set is at MP3 160kbps so this is no good to rip. Please care for the artists and label _/\_ This is for Mixcloud only! Or another Psara set. The released tracks are: [intro] Balance by OCO [1st track] Orang-U-Tangent by Planet BEN [3rd track] Maroon by Color Box [half way in] Postcards From Goa by Psysutra (very recent release!) ** All tracks are Cronomi except the intro and the 1st one. Link to Mixcloud here! inJoy _/\_ L&L

  8. Artist: Gangnia Title: Vol. 2 Label: GoWest Date: 1997 1. Helicoop 2. Chayot 3. Aural Eye 4. Red Moon 5. Tripolis 6. Ironic Eyes 7. Starburn 8. Atomic Angel 9. Static - X S 2 albums of mind melting goa trance in the same year by the same artist? Yep, the project that would later become X.I.S. delivered just that back in 1997. If I'm DAT Records, Zion604, Anjuna, Suntrip, or any other label worth my salt I track these hombres down like I'm searching for Bin Laden. If you released a double album with fresh remasters you'd break the internet. Seriously, we're talking a Kim Kardashian naked oiled up booty level of carnage. The goa trance is furious, face damaging old school that had my kids dancing like they just got back from a three day sleepover at Willy Wonkas. It's a relentless volcano of erupting energy that will force you to twirl. This music should come with an attorney to represent you in court because there will be lots of speeding tickets if this is pumping in your deck. How is this project not talked about? There's 47 different threads about how Shpongle's testicles are so shiny, but nothing on these guys? Travesty. I mentioned earlier I'm not that guy that drops $100 on an album, but if you had both of these and are willing to sell...well, that's a discussion I'll entertain. Mdk

  13. Artist: Hypnoxock Title: Rewritten By Shiva Label: Goa-Trance.com Date: February, 2014 1. On The Eve of the Revolt 2. No Time To Cry 3. Double Zero *stares intently. Sits back in chair and exhales deeply. Tilts head in concentration* Hypno... Hypnosh... Hypnozo... *shoves books off table angrily* F*ck! I can't do it. All I see is cock! F*cking cock! It's like some flamboyant Rorschach test! This duo from Spain is well accomplished. Their album Synthetic Resurrection was terrific and they're not shy about releasing free stuff over at Ektoplazm. With a short three track ep they open our ears to their goa sound. On the Eve of the Revolt is a delicious short intro that ripples with mystery. My only complaint was that it was too short. Homies bringing the downtempo like Ra. Not Time To Cry is your typically good goa track which goes into overdrive with the help of a well placed Leonidas sample. Double Zero is the same, but the break is absolutely fantastic. Some rich storytelling right here. Feel it. Still impressed with these guys. Their productions are always warm and vibrant. They breathe life into their music even if I can't pronounce their name. Welcome to the fray my friends. Beatport Mdk

  16. In the early years of Goa Trance some producers who came in this music featured in groups of Rock, Industrial, Psychedelic Rock, New Wave etc with a background listening in other kinds of music like: Rock, Synth Pop, Disco, Indie Rock, Industrial E.B.M., etc. and not only from electronic music like today trance producers. I believe this is the reason why those masterminds created music for mind, body and soul and not only for body(only dancing) like today. I would like your opinion and some examples of legendary trance producers. I personally prefer some of them: 1} Raja Ram - The Infinity Project {Member of Psychedelic Rock band Quintessence}. 2} Martin Glover {Youth} - Zodiac Youth. {Member of the Post Punk New Wave Heavy Metal band Killing Joke and the electro, industrial band the Empty Quarter with Ben Watkins{Juno Reactor}. 3} Ben Watkins - Juno Reactor {Member of the New wave, Synth pop bands the Flowerpot Men and Brilliant}. 4} Merv Pepler - Eat Static {Member of the Space Psychedelic Rock band Ozric Tentacles}. 5} Stephane Holweck - Total Eclipse {Member of New Wave Synth pop band Brilliant}. 6} Johann Bley - Mandra Gora - Juno Reactor {Member of New wave, Synth pop Industrial bands Die Zimmermanner and Specimen}. 7} Olli Wisdom - Space tribe {Member of the Punk Rock, Goth Rock bands The Unwanted and Specimen}. ----Supplement-- dont forget the australians: 8} Gus Till - Slinky Wizard - Third Eye {Member of New Wave Synth Pop band Beargarden and the pop rock synth pop band Max Q with Michael Hutchence(R.I.P) of INXS. 9} Ollie Ollsen - Shaolin Wooden Men - Third Eye {Member of Rhythmic Noise Industrial band Hugo Klang and the Pop Rock Synth Pop Band Max Q ^^^^^^^^
  17. Hello. It seems that Psynews looks very different than last time I was here (many years ago) . Anyway my debut album is about to come out so here is some info about it ********************************************** A new style of music has been born. Welcome to Dreamland. It is a world of strong emotions and states of mind inspired heavily by Japanese game worlds, Goa trance and psytrance. Beware though, if you enter the Dreamland, there is no going back. The melodies and sound patterns might still be playing in your head even after turning off the speakers! In addition to unforgettable synth lead melodies and hypnotic repeating patterns, huge variety of classic instruments sounds like pianos, cellos, harps, electric guitars, string orchestras, female singing, throat singing, flutes, djembe drums, retro video game sounds, classic psy farts and even tb-303 are all there. Even oceanic waves, singing birds, grasshoppers, 19th century steam trains and strange fx tricks like moving stereo fields and unusual melodic transitions are part of Dreamland. Elements from multiple psytrance subgenres and other electronic music are combined into a masterpiece unlike anything that you have heard before. It took for a good reason over 10 years of mind work to create this album. Most of the tunes went through many iterations of creation, feedback and dance floor testing and it lasted years for them to develop into their final form. The tunes contain a lot of small details and every new listening is a different experience as you start to become aware of more details. Dreamland is a hyper dimensional flying trip. You learn to fly through different worlds, beaches, islands, oceans, dark forests, deserts and even ancient fortresses. 18. Om Shanti Here's the excerpt of a track I took part in, with Colin from O.O.O.D a week ago. It's old-school, (I love the old-school style), there's a whole bunch of VSTIs in use, and some hardware synths (SH-101, Nord Modular) as well. Lots of VST effect racks used as well. The sample is taken from a TED conference. Hope you like it
  19. Here at DAT Records, Mark and I are extremely energized and excited to announce to everyone what we have been cooking up in the last 6 months at least. Before that, we had only bits and pieces of ideas but then it became a clear vision and we chased it to the point where we could grasp it and transform it into reality. We wanted to make a compilation - not just any compilation but something epic that would take you on a journey up there somewhere. So we started collecting tracks and then we realized how amazing it would be if we could have only remixes of real classics on it because... well, they exist! So from a generic VA (there are more of those in the pipeline), we transformed our first compilation into the perfect journey through parallel realities, with well-known masterpieces presented in ways that you have never heard before. With no further mumbo jumbo or wordplay, I am pleased to announce officially our compilation "Analog Dreams": 1 Hallucinogen - LSD '93 2 Space Tribe - The Great Spirit (Original Mix) 3 Doof - We Are Free (Desk Mix) 4 Slinky Wizard - Funkus Munkus (Alternate Mix) 5 Green Nuns Of The Revolution - Ring Of Fire (Live Mix) 6 Total Eclipse - Free Lemonade (Live in Paris 1995) 7 Etnica - Full On (Alternate Mix) 8 Prana - Voyager 2 9 Nervasystem - Whirling Dervish (Kaleidoscope Mix) EVERY track in this compilation is a storming killer and the energy of the progression of tracks is outstanding! We start with a twist on the most classic track ever: the first version of the iconic Hallucinogen work that would become the legendary LSD, the original track that was played in Goa in 1993 and which would lead to the trademark sound of Simon's later releases. Then we move to the amazing original mix of Space Tribe's The Great Spirit, an epic and spiritual track that is as powerful as it is beautiful. Things start to move deeper with the brooding and driving desk mix of the brilliant Doof track We Are Free. Now that our gears are oiled and running, we can unleash the powerful energy of Slinky Wizard with this alternate mix of Funkus Munkus that will get you grooving. We finally reach the apex with an extended live mix of Green Nuns of the Revolution's monster tune Ring Of Fire. Prepare to hurtle through the cosmos, Space Cadets, because you *cannot* imagine how energizing and mind-blowing this track is - we were speechless when we heard it and are still on Cloud 9. Then, even if you think it's not possible, we go even higher with this super-duper-hyperbolic live mix of Total Eclipse's Free Lemonade from a 1995 Paris performance. Please remember to be more careful from whom you accept free lemonade - there is no need for lemonade, as this track is enough for a magical trip ! And then we stabilize in hyperspace with the magnificent long, haunting alternate mix of Etnica's Full On, which appears for the first time ever fully unmixed on CD. Now as we prepare to come back to Earth, we present you the groovy, beautifully refreshing, and extremely rare mix of Voyager 2 by Prana. We then close this splendid compilation with the spiritual and mystical downtempo mix of Nervasystem's Whirling Dervish, a track that we loved the minute we heard it first. To prepare this compilation was a long and complex process of detective work and discussion. I want to thank Mark Ainley for his help and dedication in this. We have been compiling and assembling something we are sure that you will enjoy for as many years as these tracks were hidden. And this is the first of a series of three compilations... All aboard and blast off! Draeke & Mark http://www.datrecords.it/dat/releases/va-analog-dreams-datcd005.html

  21. Artist: Various Title: Nova Fractal - Perplexed Remixes Label: Timewarp Records Date: September. 2014 1. Perplexed (Fiery Dawn Remix) 2. Perplexed (Cactus Arising Remix) 3. Perplexed (Omneon Remix) Man Renato is making sh*t happen isn't he? Timewarp has become another label that has made a positive impact on the goa scene and that's good news for all of us. Whether it's CD releases or digital EP's that label has become rather vital in a short period of time. The original track by Nova Fractal first appeared on the Future Architecture album from Neogoa in 2011. Then it made it to his Fractal Landscape CD release. It's a cosmic goa trance storming track that is heavy in acid leads. Really good stuff. With this EP some of the next wave of goa trance artists take a crack at it and see what they can conjure up. Can they improve upon an already great track? Maybe. But (personal opinion alert!) why stack the chips against yourself like that? Wouldn't it make more sense to remix a track that wasn't as good? If you make a weak track great isn't that better than making a possibly inferior version of a great track? Eh, like I said just my opinion. What I don't want to see from a remix ep is f*cking carbon copy tracks. Make it different. Make it your own. Take it in a direction that makes me say, "Is this even the same f*cking track?" And this ep succeeded in avoiding that pitfall. Yeah they all are around the same bpm, but whether it's the intros or the juicy bits in the middle it diverges from the original. The old school pop of the Fiery Dawn remix and the break in the Cactus Arising take are appreciated. Omneon's version is an all out blitzkrieg loaded with acid sounds. All of them have sufficient twists and turns with great layers. So what you get is three quality goa trance tracks in the modern style that don't sound like three identical tunes. Nice job guys. 22. Artist: Various Title: Sea Weed Label: Aquatec Records Date: November, 1996 1. Coneheads - Wildfowl Calling (Quacked-up Mix) 2. Tristan - Close Zen Counters 3. Sephalopod - Elliptical Orbits 4. Tristan - Paraphernalien 5. Faction - Deadlock 6. Neuro Electric - J. Edgar 7. Brian Shiva - Intensity One 8. Deviancy - In Too Deep 9. Metallic Heart - Children of the Night "Something to think about." I'm a little shocked this one hasn't been reviewed. Checked the search and couldn't find it. Anyway...Sea Weed. Do you know there are people who actually eat this sh*t? They call it a superfood. No real evidence to support this, but they say it may improve heart health, may regulate hormones, and is high in nutrients. All good things, but I don't know if I want to eat a food that looks the same going in as it does going out. But I've eaten at Arby's so it can only be an improvement. This album has a lot of Tristan and of course the label owner. You can do that when you own the label. I would file this under the experimental and psychedelic goa trance heading with a heavy techno influence. Similar to the stuff that Anjuna and Zion604 are pumping out today. There are lots of squeaks and digital farts. The diversity here is what makes this a gem that flies under the radar. Most of the tracks were pretty good with some good depth, just not spectacular. The one that was spectacular for me was In Too Deep. And I ain't talkin' bout Genesis. That one was a crunchy acidic monster with tumbling waves of sizzling energy. Like using a light saber to cut through a stick of butter. Really liked the Faction track as well. So if you're into more Psychaos or Slinky Wizard and less Dimension5 then grab this if you can find it. Mdk

  24. Artist: Various Title: Cosmic Guide Label: Goalogique Records & Ezel-Ebed Records Date: December, 2013 01. Guide's intro - Burak Malçok - Didgerdo & Ney 02. Travma - Son Nefes 03. Imba vs K.U.R.O. - Uchu-Jin Deaimasu 04. Somnesia - Pyrotechnical Project 05. Shidartha - Tetalidrocanabinol 06. Ephedra & Goarama - Spiritual Sunday 07. Mindsphere - Chosen One 08. Astrancer - Hercolubus 09. Ogo - Kobejada 10. GoaTree - Goaliens "Since I was a child I've seen some very strange things in the sky..." "It's still good, it's still good!" When a friend tells you that he struck out with the head cheerleader it means two things. One, there will be no awkward fondling in the back seat of mom's minivan and two your friend has no game. Strikes are bad. Garbage man goes on strike and you're knee deep in banana peels and disposable diapers. I suppose a strike in bowling is good, but then again you're a bowler so you've obviously failed at all the sports that actually matter. Having reviewed this label's previous two releases I was less than impressed and gave them two strikes. One more and they'll be having lunch at the chess club table. The powers that be have clearly consulted the Cosmic Guide for answers because this is the best thing to come out of Goalogique Records since...well, ever. You can debate the cover art quality (no you can't even though this was clearly their best effort), but the music is head an shoulders above Up to Next Step and Astronot. Now they joined forces with Turkish label Ezel-Ebed Records so at the very least those guys deserve an assist. The Goalogique sound is characterized by an amateurish, raw feel and some of that is still here. But nothing like the previous compilations. You have good tracks like Son Nefes, Tetalidrocanabinol, Hercolubus and Chosen One. It's a very good compilation, but it still doesn't tell me if Goalogique has turned a corner or just relied on Ezel-Ebed to do the heavy lifting. Beatspace Psyshop Mdk
  25. Artist: Siam Title: Start To Focus EP Label: Goa Records Date: November, 2012 1. Psychic Energy 2. Start To Focus 3. Run To The Sun 4. Beyond The Astral Worlds Let's keep this short and sweet. This is John Pitsakis from Greece with I believe his first EP. It's a mixture of goa and psy sounding very full-on. Psychic Energy was too long and needed some more evolution. Some good acid licks, but it felt small. Start To Focus was more assertive with its goa badassery and makes good use of layers. Run to the Sun was ok, but again light on the details. Just when I thought I was gonna give this the emphatic thumbs down he saves the best for last. Beyond the Astral Worlds has more interesting melodies and a greater sense of tension. Not a terrible ep, but his subsequent Sunset In Jupiter EP is far superior. Beatport Mdk
