  1. I'm sure AA can work for many people. To me it's a bit of a bunk science.. It's really an echo chamber where you sit around a table and everyone starts by saying hi my name is X And I'm an alcoholic ", constantly affirming yourself that you are an alcoholic. Everyone says the same things." today it was really bad yada yada ". To me it was extremely negative, nothing positive about it at all. And the fact that you constantly affirm yourself each time that you are an alcoholic - isn't really gonna progress your state of mind into something better. I'm not in the belief that once an alcoholic - always an alcoholic. I'm a firm believer that you can change your life/mindset around and the echo chamber that is those AA meetings keeps you in a perpetual state of being an alcoholic even if you stopped drinking, cause that's what you tell yourself and others each meeting. Anyway, if it works to keep people of booze then fine but it also keeps you stuck in the mentality that you're forever an alcoholic and I don't think that's a healthy mindset to have. Alcoholism is not a disease in my book, it's an addiction and once you break it I will never sit around calling myself an alcoholic year after year in those meetings. Negative affirmation isn't good I think. And to anyone reading that AA has worked for, then great on you and I'm by no means taking anything away from anyone, this is just my opinion on it as its certainly not for everyone. Hope I didn't come off as defensive Thank you for your comment!
  2. I decided to stop drinking alcohol. Not sure if it's topic related, but I don't wanna live life in a tired, depressive haze when I have no energy and say and do things I regret all the time. Lately I began to feel suicidal after i was drunk each time. Got myself to the ICU, and am now at hour 48h. First 12-24h they tried diazepam, got 90mg but was unresponsive. 155/115 blood pressure, 150 heart rate. Then they switched to Clomethiazole. Two capsules 4 times a day. Blood pressure have yet to drop but heart rate is around 105. I had 3.3 per mille when admitted. (I'm not sure why I drank so much that day, 3.3 is literally insane.) I hope I get better soon. They want to keep me here at least 2 more days to make sure I don't get DT. I've drunk every day for almost 2 years now, but on and off for roughly 10 years.. So if you ever wanna change something about your life for the better, now is the time to do it. Hope this comment is worth something to someone. Take care everyone.
  3. there has to be some meaning to the feeling of nostalgia, no? either way sometimes when you feel like youre about to just end it all, the feeling of nostalgia really does help you get grounded and come back into some sort of meaning
  4. @IronSunthose are all really really good. Especially the hypnocock, triquetra and sykespico ones.
  5. My mistake I meant the 3rd not 4th but whatever. I liked it alot either way.
  6. Noone mentioned mindsphere yet? I think this release speaks for itself.. Mental Triplex (2016) Nova Fractal - The Wheel Of Time (2016)
  7. nice. surprised to see you go to the darker side. this is great stuff. i like forest (or twilight i guess?) that doesnt necessarily sound like forest. this seems to have alot of punch and depth to it still. the only suggestion would be to try to drop that 4th snare hit. it is perhaps too static with that; i dont think forest or twilight uses that much snare on the 4th.
  8. What subgenre would you say it is? If it's neo goa I think it's skywalker - filteria remix. It's from 2014, cover is orange with some purple, and has very melodic bassline. But that's probably too easy.
  9. If you like a combination of 80s movies and 00s hip hop
  10. i dont mind the music at all on the compilation, the oforia and astral tracks too. But i mind how they sound. The oforia track has a really really weak kick and im very surprised the dude went backwards. If it was something from a new label, or a small label - with lots of indie artists - i would likely have felt very different. But its suntrip, and its ancient masters like the ones mentioned. There really shouldnt be an excuse to not have the BEST sound possible; to portray the music. xenos track could have been so great, but the kick is just a subby click. And why did Astral all of a sudden feel the bitcrusher is the best thing ever? Anyway, this is just one persons opinion thats all
  11. This is a very strange CD for me. It almost sound like these old masters like Xeno, MFG and Astral said "oh, Suntrip wants music from us... New school.... what to these guys like again? Ultra clean sounds, alot of bitcrushing and made in software". And thats what they delivered. Some of the stuff here sounds much more "dated" than even their own stuff from 15 years ago. Theres a plastic sound quality to alot of the tracks, especially the xeno, astral, and oforia tracks. I can hardly believe it was the same guys that made this stuff. Its almost like they hired some friend/co-producer/ghostwriter to make some of this stuff (the oforia track specifically). Im thoroughly disappointed. I like the xeno track musically, but sound is not what I would expect from a master like this. Even his stuff from waaay back sound better. We have so much amazing quality in the new school genre that there's really no excuse to not submit top tier production (especially coming from artists like the people on this comp) Theres Artifact303, that makes the tracks from these ancients look like it was their first attempts at making music in the box. Filteria uses hardware and sounds about a million times better than most of the tracks on this CD, aswell as Artifact - which afaik do NOT use that much hardware. Mindsphere is another that comes to mind using the same gear as these old artists supposedly also do. So why does so much on this album sound plastic fantastic? When mindsphere, artifact, filteria etc do not? Even the Astral track sounds weaker than anything from Amen (2002). Guess Ill get alot of hate for this review but considering the high standard of new school goa - and the high regards we have of these masters and creators of original goa trance - this was NOT what it should have been..
  12. omg havent seen you in years man. gotta catch up some day. so wait, you actually program your own daw? music reminds me slightly of both MFG, Planet BEN, and Hara Gobi. but its certainly its own style.
  13. I see. But If you had a really good turntable, pickup and needle - using a high grade studio dac like the lyra or something, you could probably capture a vinyl record (without noise or crackle), and i think that would sound way nicer than someone rippin flacs from a CD! obviously thats the optimal scenario, but even with consumer grade stuff i think vinyl just sounds a bit better, it doesnt have any aliasing or sound sharp, and it has to me a more realistic sound. (i think phase and stereo image has alot to do with this. which can sound slightly artificial in a pure digital environment) in fact i have a few vinyl rips of the astral catalogue and they sound better to me than the CDs. but you mentioned properly mastered digital files from tapes - Its probably quite rare to have a digital file sourced from tape? Ofc unless you mean how Cds were sourced from the master tapes in the last 40 or so years.. But if thats what you mean then thats not even better, its actually another step. Sourcing a Vinyl rip (thats also sourced from the master tape) and then making a "proper" digital master as you say - would sound better using the vinyl rip than using a CD rip.
  14. damn, you didnt notice the penile enlarger enclosed in the cd case??
  15. where did AstralSphinx go? he didnt defect to china i hope
  16. And here I am, trying to find vinyl rips :p you dont find they usually end up sounding better? even through a digital medium.
  17. since im a cubase user for a very long time i can chime in simply by saying theres a quadrafuzzz version 2, but ofc it is not the same sound as the originial. you can still run the original as a 32bit plugin using jBridge. as far as the synthesis discussion go i wont say much, but i would be surprised if you couldnt dial in that very sound in alot of different synths? i mean even between you, you seem to not agree that it is either vb1, es-1 or anything else. seems like you can make that sound in many different synths ^^
  18. superb sound quality, ultra clean.. its like its triggering my third eye or something, i sometimes get an itch back there when the music just comes together perfectly 8/10
  19. i died after reading avi missim. then clicking on the link --- INGMAR VEECK
