  1. ...what music/album do you turn to? My weapon of choice: Process - Superior Technology (Youtube Playlist) http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFiDAZR0cmjBe77P3FwYfRzEGkVv2Qljs I mean, I'm a melodic goa trance guy by heart, but this...this is just completely something else. Murky hi-tech brainfuck, pure and simple.
  2. Well we'd all like to think it's all about the music, but no. Of course the energy from the guy behind the decks/gear transfers into the audience. Some of the recent guys I've seen who's really into it are Cosmosis, Prometheus, Aavepyörä and Eat Static. Others whom I randomly remember are Asura and OOOD. And of course Raja Ram just has to be mentioned Also, our (Finland's) own lovely DJing couple Miazu & Polly are quite the burst of energy on stage. Of course, some (especially) DJs need more concentration to play a good set, but still you can see if the energy is there or not. I myself am trying to balance between deep concentration and almost dancing like a lunatic on stage at least when playing goa. The chillout is a bit different but nevertheless I don't keep myself hunched behind my laptop all the time. Gotta see how the audience reacts.
  3. I've been on absolute coffee strike for almost 2 years now, after almost 20 years of daily consumption. Not that there's anything fundamentally wrong with (good) coffee, it just started to make me feel totally like shit so I thought why bother. The first month was the worst, withdrawals and all that shit (nice DJing gigs in that state of being but it soon settled. I don't think I can go back anymore, even drinking tea seems to be out of the question nowadays...
  4. No we didn't. Some of us just need time to wade through the tracks and not make a rushed decision
  5. I'm trying to think of something to say...
  6. Amygdala - Modus Operandi. Starts with some meh dubstep but picks up from track 3. Musik Magier - Moved. Progressive-ish but not your usual cup of tea. Aavepyörä - Katso kukkaa. This just is something else. Nothing quite like AVP out there. PortaMento - The Portal. Not your usual goa trance. VA - Spectral Circuitry. Ektoplazm's lates VA. Some nice stuff in there IIRC. Lilith - Love Is All. If you can find it anywhere. Juno Reactor - Inside The Reactor. Juno Reactor remixed. Good stuff. Kino Oko - Descending Out Into The Distance. Rather unclassifiable.
  7. The track still exists, it just seems to have disappeared from the contest group...?
  8. Terence McKenna, Tim Leary, Alan Watts are hevily used, usually in quite unsurprising ways. Blatantly drug themed samples usually just annoy me, as well as stuff from The Matrix and Fear And Loathing (with the exception of 1300 Mics - Mescaline). Yes I know, this is a subculture closely related to drugs, but still, no need to rub it in my face. Be creative, surprising. Make me think, make me smile. Find samples that have not been used a million times before.
  9. There's just something very heartwarming about receiving a handwritten thank you postcard and incense sticks with your CD.
  10. So is voting for yourself considered cheating?
  11. If that's what i THINK it is, then... O M G But I won't tell you what I think it is
  12. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2SFugfbvK0 Doesn't get much more epic than this. One of my absolute favourite artists and tracks from the golden 90's.
  13. I'm no expert on all these new styles, but Sensient and the likes seem to go under "Zenonesque" at Ektoplazm
  14. Perhaps this says something about how damn good an album it is
  15. Well, I liked Metamorph better. Smoother than Crystal Cavern which I find a bit...harsh, maybe? Need to take another listen to both I think. Still, Canopy of Sound is my favourite of your tracks
