  1. not only does Peak release nothing but goodness, their artwork is GREAT!! Reminds me of... things Ive seen... at times...
  2. November 11th in Reno, Nevada, we have this: http://sanfrancisco.tribe.net/event/Reno-1...84-701243918527 Its mainly a Burning Man decompression event, but also the start of a real psytrance scene here in Reno! Artists are going to be working hard all day to make the space as close to Playa as possible, minus the majority of the dust and nude people. Along with that, there will be robots cruising the place, a Mantis, MiniMan, people with all their costumes and whatnot, basically invoking the spirit of Burning Man. This will be my first party djing! The first of many Im sure... Reno is finally ready!
  3. So Ive heard this track, Im sure its a little old. Its sorta morning. The sample says "chemical messages" which then repeats, all stretched out. It also says, "psychoactive". These are from a show about drugs called Hooked on A&E. Id love to know the name of the track and producer. And if its still possibly available out there somewhere...
  4. Do software make it easier to learn hardware? I dont think that it made it easier to beatmatch, but I do think it helped me know my music better, and know what sounds good with what, which of course is half of being a dj.
  5. Xyla's 2 tracks on Shamanfilms are some REALLY dark stuff, with real dark melodies. Track 8- Nostalgia on Engrams http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/geo/geo1cd005.html Track 6- Ancient Future rmx on Ah Puch http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/sam/sam1cd001.html and to whoever mentioned Electrypnose: There are melodies there! Track 3- Niapo, Track 1- the Handler, my favorite track 5- Elendil-Oz (Electrypnose rmx)
  6. 5 days at Symbiosis, not bad cuz the trance stopped during the afternoon. This was a multigenre festival with chill, broken and breakbeats, and bands as well as trance. Too laid back to be so much of a mindfuck!
  7. I dont know the name of the song, but the sample goes, "chemical messages" then it gets drawn out into a chhhheeeeeemmmmmmiiiiiiiicccaaaaaaaaallllllllllll.. etc. Also, "psychoactive" which echoes with a -choactive-choactive-choactive. Anyway, I was watching this program on A&E, called Hooked talking about drugs and things, then they got to talking about LSD, and this guy on the screen started to talk about the "chemical messages" it sends to your brain, in the same voice from the song. So its not always shows and movies, sometimes its documentary stuff. Pretty informative program, with no "drugs are bad, mmmkay" shit going on. Biased reports on drugs are useless propaganda. hehe, I like Cosmosis' track Wierd Sick Twisted, with Homer Simpson talking about "wierd strange sick twisted EEEVIL STUFF! And I want in!" Some of the lamest samples Ive heard are on (RIP Zolod) Kill Fucking Bill, Terminators track with the samples from Pitch Black or that other Vin Diesel space movie. Sorry Zolod but Im just not feeling it. Rest of the track is good enough. Track 6 on Sonic Seasoning from Trishula has a sample from Sin City, Mickey Rourke's character saying, "This is the old days, the bad days, they're back, theres no choices left, and Im ready for war". Im sure many people have complaints about talking about being ready for war in a trance song but I think it works just fine, especially if youve seen the movie. Theyre making 2 more BTW!
  8. Dead Kennedys-This Could be Anywhere from Frankenchrist. I love the DK, punk combined with an almost surf style guitar, sometimes going off on pretty trippy little jams. The lyrics to This Could Be Anywhere talk about kids shooting dogs with bb guns and fucked up mothers showing off their "toys" to their daughters friends. This could be anywhere. The suburban towns all across America are supposed to be this kind of refuge from the "terrible inner city", but as this song says, the suburbs are just as fucked, but in different ways. Frankenchrist originally had a cover by HR Giger which was a wall of penises and vaginas copulating, which of course made many American idiots mad, and they changed the cover.
  9. I heard these mixes a while ago, from globalbeatz.net, very nice! I love that Tikal track, its by far my favorite morning track! Its nice to hear experimentation, not just playing one track after another, but actually using the music, arranging it to create a personalized flow! The only problem I had was the fact that Ive heard Melicia-Dancing Up and Alien Project-Genetic Eyes SOOO many times... Not your fault! Actually its mine...
  10. IDK, I use Windows Media Player to burn, and it always converts, I guess IDK how to burn. ANd a wav is technically a recording or an output of a program, the raw data in the program, like what you hear when you're making a track at home, is better sounding than the output, Ive noticed. Maybe IDK how to do that either.
  11. Yeah a good one, though the whole glitch thing gets old if you hear it one track after another (not on this album, see Highko-Noise Brothers on Poison) A great experimental collabo-comp! Love track 9, 10, 3, the others are ok in comparison. Furious has some lovely tracks, see Jokers Necropolis on Deja Vu and Nowhereland on Vertigo, also his album Not For Fame on Vertigo! Lovely percussion he uses! Matutero is Zik, also Horror Place and Adrenal Glands, check these projects out. Zikdrury is forest trance with Zik and someone else I forgot (Check Sanatonic Audio on Sanaton). Hehe, I feel the same way about this, Highko-Noise Brothers, and Cosmo-Gravity, great stand-alone tracks, but one after another its like, OK, I get it, we're insane now, you can stop with the glitches! Yeah, Psykovsky's bpm changes can be difficult to mix, you just gotta know the ending bpm, its ok after that.
  12. Yeah, with many modern sound systems, the difference is not noticable, but imagine a few years down the line. Dolby surround 17.1? who knows. 10 years ago if you asked someone about wireless internet on cellphones, no one would understand, but now its common. There are systems, however, that one can hear the difference, if one knows what to listen for. Then again it could just be listening "too hard", if you know what I mean. If you stare at a white wall long enough, you can see whatever you want to see. Although, Im pretty sure some of the liveacts Ive seen, whove had good equipment, make sounds much clearer than djs. I cant tell alone, Id need someone elses opinion, so IDK.
  13. or I could be totally and completely wrong. Please excuse me if this is true. But im pretty sure... I heard somewhere.... CD audio is inferior to the direct output of whatever program the producer used... Kill me if Im stupid.
  14. files on cd are converted from wav files into cda files. THeres always some kind of loss along with any conversion. Yeah the ipod thing is pretty cheesey. Its just an example of how one could mix higher quality files.
  15. 24 bit 96khz is already better than cd. But imagine the advances in a few years. Look back a few years.
  16. Try Virtual DJ, it will beatmatch for you if you want it to, unfortunately theres no way to have a master and monitor output, with the free demo version. Its not a bad little program, its got a killer looper. IDK if thats what youre looking for. the demo only lasts like a month, then it doesnt work anymore. http://www.virtualdj.com/ I used it long ago. I use hardware now.
  17. I press play all the time! On my cdj's! On one hand you have the stupid, beatmatch-for-you programs, on the other you have things like this: Gemini Itrax Imagine, mixing lossless wav files, much higher quality than any cd could ever be! This is the real future, when physical music media are such poorer quality than the digital that no one will want to hear cds any more. I imagine something like a virtual reality setup, with gloves and goggles. But for now GIMME CD! Press play... But do something as well!
  18. Havent heard this one but the first Lucy in Space album has some good ones I like. Sounds like this one is kind of a let down.
  19. scammers, trying to make you pay some other way, like sending money through the mail, or something like that. Yeah, watch for too-good-to-be-true deals. Also, Ive seen quite a few scammers who say they are in one country, but when you look at the payment details, and it says to send the money to another country. They take the money and you never hear anything again. Its not hard to see which ones are not real. When I got my cdjs and all that came with them, one of the cdjs had been damaged in shipping, but it was very easy to fix (after I took apart a nonfunctional cdj that I had laying around already, the eject mechanism in those things is like a circle of dominoes all supporting each other).
  20. I always loved that Orbital track... Ahh good memories.. Love that Motion remix of his own Tetraktys track! Afterhourz, a great disc. DL ing as we speak... thanks!
  21. I got a pair of cdj-100s's, and a djm-300 mixer, all Pioneer, with a big ugly case that keeps them all safe and cozy for only US$450, on eBay. Keep looking you may find some good deals. Watch for scammers, I almost got ripped off for a $200 cdj-200. Ive had no problems with my 2 cdj-100s's. Ive seen literal tons of these at parties. From what I understand the cdj-500 is an older model, and it looks rather large. I cant remember if that was a top-loading one? Im not too sure about toploading, lots of opportunity for scratches.
  22. This is my latest recording, I think Im getting a lot better at it. At least, its better than any of my previous mixes. A big thanks to all the artists who's work Ive included, thanks so much for this great stuff! link: http://download.yousendit.com/B2DB14E35A42DE63 will expire in 14 days tracklist: Terminator-Phenix-----Phreex Networx Olien-Calamari-----Trishula Furious-Nowhereman-----Vertigo Jellyheadz-Anemone-----Mighty Quinn Polyphonia-Soundforms-----Greekedelia Alien Mental-Karma-----Illuminati Orestis-Life rmx-----Tantrumm Stereographic-Planetary Point-----Vertigo Xyla-Ancient Future rmx-----Shamanfilms Penta-Noise Complaint-----Inti Raimy Mubali-Luminaria-----Shamanfilms/Geomagnetic N3xu5-Sacrificial Chamber-----Discovalley Abnormal Project-Strange Place-----Vertigo *I forget the last one* Enjoy! 23. Last weekend I helped Goa Gil celebrate his birthday. Before that was Symbiosis in California, where I saw Random, Chromatone, Sun Control Species, Hallucinogen, Psylab, Protoculture, Pixel, Bluetech, Waterjuice, OTT, and Krumelur. THere were others that I forgot and didnt see. On the 20th Im going to see Mubali, Dylalien, Audiopathik, and others I cant remember at the moment, also in California.
  24. Deja Vu Fabrique-Fabrique on Deja Vu. Zolod's last work, with a Russian classical composer, from the samples its an amazing one. Should be here any time....
