  1. Reviving this topic since today is the beginning of the world cup. Favourites: I think Spain or Germany will be champions, Brazil has a strong defense and attack, but I believe lacks in Midfield, while Spain and German are full of quality in all positions. Not-so-big teams that I thnk will do well: Belgium, Uruguay. Belgium are in a fairly easy group so that will help them. Uruguay is full of attack-minded midfielders and forwards
  2. I come from Megara and live in Nea Peramos (Megalo Pefko). The parties that I'm talking about took place in Alepohori/Psatha (and still do) and the beaches are at the Strava area, after Shinos were the famous Cariocas beach bar lies (and where I spend most of my summer Sundays). Last weekend while we were at "IT the place" (Exarhia) for X-dream's Jan, there was also a party at Strava. Some of the guys continued after X-dream and went to the beach ,we chatted yesterday and they told me that Atriohm was there and he played during the night and they were also pleaseantly surprised that they played some good melodic psy in the morning, because usually it's Dark and Full-on, day and night. Edit: To be honest I avoid going to these beach parties, I'd rather spend my summer weekends at Cariocas drinking beers and getting some peeping therapy, since the beach is full of hot bodies!!!
  3. Latest X-men... I liked it. Thursday is my cinema day because I get buy 1 get 1 free. I think the next one I'll watch is Tom Cruuse's latest "Edge of Tommorow", I didn't like Oblivion at all, we've seen the same story so many times. Edit: I also want to Watch 22 Jump Street. I thought the first one was one of the best American Comedies I've seen in a while and I liked 21 Jump street as a little kid!
  4. Sometimes you have to be hard to the ppl you love!
  5. Although I live in small town there are a lot of people around here that listen to psy and goa, some go back to the early 90s. A lot of my childhood friends too and a lot of other people generally. We used to listen to much more psy and goa but with growing up and having jobs and responsibilities it's less often. There are also younger kids listening to Psy but obviously they prefer Hitech or Modern Full-on and Dark Psy. However, I have managed to convert a few of them to Goa, I strognly encouraged them to come to Astral last year, a lot of them came and after having a blast a few of them have discovered THE TRUTH. The reason PSY is so popular in our little town, is because some of the early Acid Trance/Goa parties from the famous Greek DJ Nikos LL (Liquid Love) were organised here because his family had a summer house. So a lot of the people who were teenagers or in their 20s in the early 90s got involved in the scene and this still goes on today. Especially in the summer there are beach parties at remote beaches practically every weekend, although with the financial crisis there are not so many people attending, mostly because of high fuel prices and unemployment. There are a few people that are very knowledgable too and have DAT and vinyl collections.
  6. I don't really know what's going on around me... but problems are springing up everyday. This has started happening the past month. I mean, I live in Greece, so financial problems are the norm but I've coped quite well during the crisis and in fact my problems aren't financial per say. I'm just overwhelmed by the sheer number of problems not their magnitude: problems with my GF, with my father, with work, with the banks, with my phone, with my house (as a building) with my gfs job and colleagues... To be honest I hope someone has jinxed me and it'll only be like this for X amount of time. I'm actively working in solving all the problems but FUCK I'm getting overwhelmed. I'm confident that I'll be able to cope with everything but it's taking very long and it's fucking hard. My GF reckons that I'm too hard on myself and it's only a matter of time to get everything sorted... I hope she is right. Although to be honest, this is nothing compared to Janet's issues and the more serious problems I've seen mentioned in this post, as well as the much more serious problems that people have in Greece overall (and let's not get started about Ukraine)
  7. Sepultura: My older mates tell me than in the early 90s Sepulturas were a power house, I saw them with their current line-up and didn't like it at all Pantera: I'll go in a corner and cry RATM: Still have hopes of seeing them!!!!! Rotting Christ: When did you listen to them? With me being Greek, I have been several times to their concerts. I don't like them for home listening but I always have a good time at their lives. A lot of people around here say that last year's Greek 20 years anniversary tour was superb. Opeth: Can't stand the growling but I can't deny that they are great musicians and composers (I just realised that Sweden must have great music education with so many technical musicians coming from there), was pleasantly surprised! Mastodon and Tool are 2 bands that I love to listen at home but both have been dissapointing live... and I'm a huge Tool fan.
  8. Been to a lot of concerts too, a lot common with you Technosomy. It seems that you went to a lot of conecets in the 90s. I've been going the past 8 years mostly. Biohazard played a few years ago, no1 told me, I was bummed to miss it, since then I check on a daily basis what's playing around and I still miss some interesting ones. I concur that Faith No More is a great live and I saw them in 2007 which is way past their best. For me there is 1 live concert that I'm pretty sure is never going to be surpassed: Pear Jam - They played for about 3 hours and 20 mins. It was the final stop of the tour and there were people from all over the Balkans, Eastern Europe, Israel and Turkey, great atmosphere. 1,5 hours live + 1 hour acoustic program (including the banzo and harmonica) + 1 hour mix of their best with rock n roll classics (Hendrix, Rod Stewart...) I've talked with a lot of concert-goers about this concert and most of them say it's been their best experience. Many times I've dreamt in my sleep that I'm at a pearl jam live concert. 2nd is Meshuggah but for a totally different reason: It was only 1 hour and 15 mins but considering how complicated their music is, I couldn't believe the pure technical perfection. Other good ones: Down, Metallica, Truck Fighters, Nine Inch Nails (pretty quiet crowd though), Soulfly (my mate went crazy when Max played NailBomb tracks), Madball (heard them 4-5 times, never get tired of them), Aerosmith, U2 ooooooooooooooohhhhh and there's one live that was TOTTALY TOTTALY a waste of time and money: Lenny Kravitz! He was tottaly wasted and played for maybe 45 mins. I remember that the concert finished and I asked my friends "It can't be over so fast? How drunk can I be?...How long was the concert?" and we all check our clocks and it was less than 45 mins. I would have travelled anywhere in Europe for a Pantera concert but unfortunanetly this cannot happen RIP Dimebag Barrell.
  9. I'm going to go for wierdness: Planet BEN + Ubar Tamar
  10. I think you should make a post on Isratrance about this festival. I don't see it mentioned. At the festival promotions section
  11. According to this list I've tottaly outgrown festivals. After many festivals I think that the more mature approach actually makes for a better festival experience: My rules: 1) Don't mess your sleep cycle and get sleep whenever you can, usually the best acts are in the morning 2) Keep a timetable of the artists you wanna hear and set alarm clocks 3) If the music is not good, go rest or do other stuff 4) Don't spend all your time inside the festival grounds, go outside (if possible), get some proper food and visit places 5) Don't spend too much time in the sun during midday (11-6 if we are talking about the summer), put sunscreen, wear a hat and keep yourself hydrated 6) Come prepared with food, water and alcohol, you're gonna spend MUCH MUCH less money this way 7) Try to have anything with you that makes you comfortable, for example I always carry 1 or 2 beach umbrellas, inflatable mattress, beach chairs, mosquito repelant, swiss army knife, flashlight... 8) Don't consume amphetamines unless it's the final day/night of the festival, the tolerance build up will hurt your pocket and the mood swings your brain 9) About Drugs, I can't say much, I never buy anything from ppl I don't know so I can't give any more advice on the matter other than this. Very often ppl have gotten tottaly wasted from the first day, missed their favourite acts or even never reached the dancefloor...
  12. I've seen alsmost all these live... Some were good others not so much, although a lot of times concerts get plagued by bad sound or venue management so it's not usually the band's fault.
  13. Excluding Greek rock artists, My first big concert was in 1998, I was 16ish. Judas Priest, Megadeth, Savatage, Craddle of Filth + some more I don't remember and the day after it was PJ Harvey and Placebo. The second day I didn't find a ride back home so I slept on the grass and waited for the tube to start at 5:30am. Nowadays I got to many concerts, event to bands that I barely know. Some are great, I.e Truck Fighters, Orange Goblin and others not so much i.e Kylesa, New Sepultura, House of Pain There have also been 2 bands that I ADORE but both were dissapointing live: Ozric Tentacles and Tool (especially Tool). This month I've planned Plissken festival (Athens), Pottergeist (Greek southern rock band, their basist is a friend of mine, Manu Chao (Thessaloniki), Clutch (Athens) and anything else that might pop-up When I lived in London I lived next to Wembley Arena but didn't go to any concerts.. I really regret it. I also regret not going to RATM when they came to Athens in 2006 and Dream Theater 2 years ago, the bad thing is that Mike Portnoy left the band 2-3 months after this concert and he probably won't play with them again. Also, although I had a ticket for Rotting Christ's 20 year anniversary, I couldn't go, I was also quite upset about this. Also missed DRI (... We've discussed this before I think with Tehcnossomy) and KISS and I'll miss the Deftones this months because I'll be in Thessaloniki for the Manu Chao concert. Edit: I don't only go to rock/metal concerts... some of the concerts I've been to include Sakis Rouvas, Madonna, Groundation (reggae), George Michael, Lana Del Rey (this was part of a bigger festival) and I'll probably go to Lady Gaga in September. The great thing is that I've got many ways in getting into gigs for free (legally or ileggally) so I'm always on the look out for nice events around Athens. I reckon I can get in for free at Thievery Corporation too mid-june.
  14. I started writting some names I don't dig and then I realised: It's not worth my time or calores.
  15. I'm not a very talkative person so I don't speak much with most people anyway, not even my friends... Most have been very nice, to be honest I don't think I've ever had a negative impression but I attribute it to the fact that I haven't had long conversations with anyone except Neuromotor in India because I got intimate with a cute Swedish girl he was there with. There is one attribute though that I've discovered in ALL artists, they are all very GEEKY, which makes perfect sense since unless you are into computers it's very difficult to be a Goa/Psy producer.
  16. S.U.N festival and a small road trip of the Balkans for me (Albania, Montenegro, Croatia). There are 3 or 4 small festivals in Greece this summer but I don't really care about going to any of them, I'd rather spend the weekend at the beach or maybe have some good old commercial hedonism at Mykonos with all the gay ppl. Maybe Connection in October and I'm definetly going to the annual Twisted reccords event at the end of October. Would love to go to the "Return to the source" 21st Bday at the first of August but flights are too expensive that time of the year.
  17. Pretty solid predictions. My points: 1) Nigeria in group F has a very strong team with many players in top european clubs 2) With me being Greek, I hope you get it correct for Group C but I think except Colombia that is in great shape all other 3 teams can get the second 3) In group A, Mexico usually does well in the world cup 4) I agree with Injesin, the Dutch haven't got a particularly strong line-up but are always dangerous 5) The Belgians are phenomenal and I wouldn't write off South Korea, they have a very athletic and fast team against a fairly average Russia I'm very unlucky with this world-cup, my fiancee's uncle lived all his adult life in Sao Paolo and we were planning for many years to visit him there for the World Cup, but 2 years ago he decided to sell everything and come back to Greece
  18. Harris (the chill-out stage manager) is a friend of mine, in fact Tim Schuldt is playing at his place tonight (I'm going of course), I can tell him personally about your comments.
  19. I would say Kadasava has a lot of Hallucinogen's influences. I'd call it a mix between Simon and the Old infected. From those mentioned above, mostly Artha.
  20. I've already got my 65 eur tickets for SUN and it's perfect for my taste. A lot of old-schoolers (PRAAAAAANAAAAAA......), phenomenal chil-out and some good progressive. I haven't checked other festivals, Ozora was good but SUN is perfect for my taste, so I don't care about the rest!
  21. How can we order? and where can we see it??
  22. http://www.dailymotion.com/gr/relevance/search/goa+at+indian+circus/1 These are my videos from a Circus in Pushkar, India. The music is played by the Circus's speakers, it hasn't been added by me, it sounds tottaly out of place.
  23. I've Checked his stuff on FB... Was also surprised and happy to see that he's a sucessfull professional in Ibiza
  24. You could snort 5-meo and it could last a up to 3 hours, haven't done it though, from what I've read online it's a hell of a nose burn but a longer/milder trip. I had a fancy-dress party last weekend at my family's house (me and bro 2rd floor, parents 1st floor, grandma Ground floor), since it's the carnival season we first played disco and latin stuff and gradually progressed from House to Goa. The cops came at around 5am and told us to stop, I was totally sober since I had to look after all the sound, light and video equipment (had about 1KW sound, moving heads and 2 projectors) and take care of the house and guests (about 100), so I had no problem chatting with the cops.... everyone else was totally paranoid and were swearing at the cops from the 2nd floor while I was chatting to them on the street. We had to lower the volume to very low levels and the cops left saying just that we have to make it quits, not even a written warning. I slept at 6:30am but the party stayed on until about 8am... and my little Bro pulled a super-hot tall blonde girl, so I was very happy for him. The funny part was the I woke up at only 10am (like I do everyday for work), since I was sober the night before. My mom had come up to our floor mopping and cleaning and she had about half a bucket with alcohol from all the left-over glasses and the rubbish bins were filled with hundreds of joint butts and half-joints... I'm sure she knows what was going on but she's a cool person... so no problems... she was also very happy that my bro pulled the gorgeous chick.
