My mom has a rare name ... a very old-fashioned one. No girl nowadays is called like that anymore ... so I don't think I'd ever have to ask myself that question

Eight years? Jeez that's a long time. Didn't even seem to be that long to me. Scary. What I find cool is that I still like the song. Been listening to it from time to time all the years

HA! I FOUND THIS ONE TODAY! You won't believe it It's Talamasca - Brain Activity. For all those years I was looking for this track. And indeed, I remembered the sample, the melody ... and that I had posted a thread here. And I was checking back quite often ... never there was an answer ... until FINALLY I found it today. Talamasca - Brain Activity. Meanwhile so much time passed that I don't find the track so incredibly great anymore ... but anyway, it's still good I am such a fucking freak that I found this finally Here it is: http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Y2P7AIzaY8 (oh, by the way, I see I was still on the old forum back then ... now I'm a guest there above, because I never merged these old posts ... man, this is old )

Well, I have to drink something to actually listen to that But I understand you. In a village pub over there in Bosnia and Herzegovina, I could imagine being piss drunk with Vodka (or what do you drink over there?) with some people and we swaying to that, to and fro and front and back... In Austria we do have some pretty awful (to me) folk music, but I could not do the above to it. I guess only music from the east can do that to me.

I say no! But on a serious note, these two track titles pretty much sum up what happened to the scene in the last years. In the past in our scene, people said no. They said no to the temptation to disrespect nature and humanity for profit or shallow experiences of happiness. They said no to the commerce, indoctrination of mass media and so on. Well, not everybody did. But in psytrance you were able to find rather alternative thinkers and personalities that were more or less saying "no" to society's glamour and what comes with it. Now it's not so much like that anymore ... and you more and more find people that say yes to all that above. Very interesting.

Please read and respect these rules/guidelines before posting new reviews. 1. Please use the appropriate release year before posting . If you're posting in a "multiple year" thread (ie. 1990-1994) then specify the release year in the thread title. 2. If you're an artist / label that wants to promote a new release please use the "Promos" group and not this one! ANY promos found in the reviews section will be moved and the one responsible for it warned. 3. This section is for psytrance reviews and psytrance related genres reviews. If you want to discuss the best releases this year, what albums should be considered "classics", the reviews section layout, the quality of reviews, the latest Tool release, want to request a review, etc. etc., then please use the General or Off-Topic sections of the forum! This is intended for psytrance music and subgenres so no reviews of parties or other music genres. A bigger tolerance will be allowed for old stuff (stuff released before 96) since back then there wasn't an "official definition" of psytrance. Also chillout/ambient genres are allowed as per usual. 4. Before posting a new review, check if a review of the album hasn't already been written. If it's the case then write your review in the already existing thread and do NOT open a new one! Finding older topics should be easy, use the "Search" function: type part or the whole album title and don't forget to limit the search to the subforum of the year you want to post in. If you're starting a new thread for a compilation then you should ALWAYS write the title under the format : "V/A - Name of comp". So that all the compilations will be easier to find. So do NOT start a topic with "VA" (no "/" between the V and the A) or "V/A :" (":" instead of "-"), "VA Name of Comp" (no "-" between the V/A and the name) etc. 5. When opening a new thread put the name of the album and artist in the topic title and make sure it doesn't have any typos (or else the search function won't work). If you made a mistake, you can easily re-edit the title by using the "Edit" button at the end of your post, if that function is not working, then use the report function and report your topic to moderators asking to correct the typos. 6. The new psynews staff has decided that first review, or first post, should always be longer than normal. This doesn't mean an essay by any means. A nice example of a short but still informative review would be this which is around 400 words long without release details. People come here to read about the release, to get some information how it is and stuff like "this release is killagrgrhrhrg" won't tell them anything. After the first post you can post mini-reviews and discussion if you so wish, but no derailing of a thread is allowed. If you feel so strongly about something that does not generally have much to do with the release, please make a thread in an appropriate section and stop posting in the review thread. 7. Personal grudges against artists or reviewers are not welcomed and will be deleted and might lead to moderation so try to use your brain before posting. If you have anything to say to the artist or another reviewer you can always PM (Private Message) or e-mail them. 8. When you open a thread please include Cover Art, Tracklist(preferably with track lengths), release date, label etc. relevant information regarding the album you are reviewing. Also it might be a good idea to include links to shops that are selling the release. 9. For color or size codes please do not over-do with them and remember this forum has 2 skins so the color white won't show up on another and color black won't on the other. Also remember to clean up font formatting that may be carried over when copying your review from one site to another. For Image usage, it is allowed to post images or gifs in reviews but for images try to keep them relatively small so it won't make the review look cluttered and cause problems for readers. Here is a few well made reviews that should give the general idea on how a review should look. X X X X Happy reviewing!

The more I listened to this stuff that is commonly referred to as psytrance, the more I was realizing that "the" psytrance actually doesn't exist. I don't know if you feel alike, but to me psytrance is a genre (to which also Goatrance does belong to in my opinion ... I was always naming them besides each other as a genre such as "Goa/Psy"). And once you are starting to check out the scene you see that there's a lot of subgenres and sub-sub genres... And with me it was like that the more I dug into it, the more I got immersed in all these sub-genres and was not percieving it as psytrance anymore, but as darkpsy, full on, oldskool, progressive... It might be "psytrance" from a distance, but the closer you come the more detailed the sub-genres get and the less you see the whole picture. "Psytrance" is the tree, the subgenres and sub-subgenres are the branches that get ever more seperated and then the leaves are the songs...

Yeah, the pool really was awesome Oh yeah, the fireworks ... before we went to the pool we did watch them too. We just shot some rockets and then we attempted to make an experiment with a christmas tree that we planned to shoot up with some rockets sticked to it, but it didn't take off and the whole thing exploded on the floor. Was a nice show though

A happy new year to all from me too

Watching the new year's concert - with HDMI sound. Gradually I'm really getting a bit into classical music

Hey, I want a robot crab too

I went to a Pool party The point is, it was a psytrance party (yeah, Vienna psytrance organizers really have evolved to making something cool quite often). They rented a whole indoor pool hall ... such a water park kind of thing - wave pool, canals, pirate ship, that stuff. Only the big slide they closed because it wouldn't be good if intoxicated people would be riding there... It was quite a blast. It really has something when you listen to Ephedrix lying on the back while floating on a tire in some canal and you're so drunk the ceiling makes waves Only bad thing was that it was cold because so many people went out smoking and opened the doors all the time ... glad we got into a Jacuzzi where it was warm And I did not see any vomit in the water ... but I think I caught a cold. That was obvious though. You don't go to pool parties in winter. Well, I did. And you would have gone too, admit it. Psytrance Pool Party on New Year's Eve - what a great idea!

I rather wish a happy new year

Sounds fun, but I think I won't be capable of doing that, can't drink 9 pints... Hell, I didn't even make it to do a power hour so far because the people I am with were too sissy to go for it every time I asked. Sounds helluva boring actually. Well, it is not so. The point is that I switched to Whisky and don't like beer/cider anymore because I get headaches and there are not many possibilities where I drink lots of the latter anymore.

Well, this year was terrible. I had no time because of stress in the job, was stressed and grumpy as I bought presents, no good mood at all. I got a book from Jean Ziegler for my mum (this guy is not that unknown internationally I'd say) and a DVD (Moon) for my dad. Also bought a game to give away, but in the end I didn't. Kinda dumb, but that was it. I didn't get that much either though. Most important is a good frying pan, a shirt, a book,... Not that good of a christmas party it was this year in my opinion. But well...

hmmm ... I just tested copy&pasting the same text from your post and it worked. Which source did you copy the text from? Maybe this source is having a certain formatting which is copied alongside, but which is invisible to the eye of the user. I encounter this frequently ... at work, where we use a certain type of editor that doesn't like this type of hidden formatting and doesn't work in these cases. You can avoid this by pasting the text into an ordinary text editor first before then copying it out of there and posting it here. I know it's kinda a bad solution, it shouldn't be necessary to do it. But this is the only thing I can think of. And yes, probably the editor is crap. But things like that we can only solve through a new update. ... edit: Ha, fixed it. It definitely was the formatting I would say I have done exactly what I said above -- copy-pasting to an external editor, correcting the formatting, then copy-pasting back here. Oh btw, I set the bold parts just out of my mind, please check and re-set if necessary.

I tried to do this a bit, but then I got ill, with hard cough in the beginning that lasted for some weeks and then it got even worse with an absolutely catastrophic flu. The cough prevented me from playing properly and the flu was just plain awful, couldn't do more than stare at the ceiling which kept coming nearer as the fever got higher... And now I didn't play for so long I kinda don't wanna. Really wasn't my fault this time that I didn't continue doing this. Normally with other things it always is If you wanna hear the story ... I started practising with this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmS7RlcIAqU I literally was falling off my chair because of laughing as I was first trying this ... the guy was producing nothing but fart noises. And me too. That was really fun. And once I got the hang of the circular breathing, I really got into it. And I then wanted to buy a didge ... but fortunately I found a ridiculously cheap alternative, which is a PVC pipe from the hardware store. Sure, not tuned properly, but good enough to get the basics and practice a bit. A cloth wrapped around one end dampens the sound as well as protects your mouth that it doesn't get sore from the pipe edges. Works very well. I totally recommend it if you wanna play around a bit but don't wanna spend money on a didge. I got so good after some practising that I got doing this once at night, at 2 am as I was coming home from an evening drinking and wanted to get sober through the breathing. I sat down on a bench near my house and promptly got interrogated by passing police why the fuck I was playing didge at two in the night on a bench out in the open. But the cops were cool, they let me play and went their way. Then came the illness and that was it so far. The pipe is now leaning against the wall right next to me. Maybe in spring I'll start again...

Very nice, I like the flow a lot and how the various elements blend together so nicely. The guitar is great, reminds me a bit of Klangstrahler Projekt and the music I listened to back then as I was in the Free Form Records phase... This sounds like the sound from back then has evolved and turned into something nice

Ong Bak ... the first one. It's just plain massive. But there also was another film starring Tony Jaa ... Tom Yum Goong it was called (I mean the elephant film). I liked that one even better because it's not as serious as Ong Bak... Ong Bak 2 was not that good. And there's a third one, but I don't know it. But the Drunken Master 2 (which is called "Drunken Master" in german) is even better than the modern stuff... More good ones I don't know. I really wanna see a Bruce Lee film one day... Oh and Old boy is great. Sick film.

Very interesting. Respect to you guys from global Sect, the release looks very promising. And I love the artwork. In fact I like the art so much that I might buy it for that alone All the best to you

I wouldn't bring the viewpoint with which an individual sees the world into connection with the question whether fire is hot or cold. It is justified to use the term "fire is hot" because It will be perceived as hot by most humans and animals. The frog, however, won't. Just a question of viewpoint. Well, maybe, but not with something as basic as fire I would say. Sure you can say fire is cold and thus you will be one of only some very few people who say that ... it's your point of view and you're free to have that. The only question is whether you'll find so many people / individuals to interconnect to who share the same point of view, so it's basically just a question how fun it is for you to say that fire is cold. But it's actually true that the viewpoint matters and not so much the circumstances. I would second that.

Yes, looks awesome indeed. Great video. I can't wait!

Believe me, I don't really like the "Limed out" skin so much myself either - the green is not too great ... but I didn't find any other that was looking as suitable and that was free at the same time. The colors, buttons or icons are not changeable by just modifying skin settings in the skin menu, at least I didn't find a method. Guess we have to change the skin's XML code ... but I am not too fond of that as I don't know how to do it and if the author allowed to modify it... I do see that the join date is gone too in that skin. Don't know if we can bring it back. I will continue the search for free skins, but I think that was the best one we would get so far. Maybe some time later when more skins are out for IPB 3.2... Hey Richpa, thanks for the offer to make a logo, I'd appreciate it. Yes, the skin does support wider logos too, but I don't know the max specs, so it's your risk. The original logo of the skin is considerably bigger than ours though...

Hello folks, so I finally found time to import a new skin. It wasn't even so easy to find a _free_ one that is compatible for this board version and doesn't look like crap. Well, there are a few skins out there, but I was specifically looking for a theme that fits our purpose, which is - name it - a "serious" looking skin with a darker color scheme that doesn't make your eyes pop when you look at it in the middle of the night ... all that while still fitting into the psynews look. I have chosen the "Limed Out" theme. I have imported it and checked how it looks. Looks and feels good to me, except for some inframes that show buttons which still appear in the old, bright background color I didn't found any glitches. Even our logo is going along with it not so bad I would say ... but if you are good with graphic design, you are of course welcom to design another one if you want. I won't do it As I didn't find any bigger flaws, I have made it available for the public. So the skin is now available for you to select from the drop down menu. If you find any flaws, report them preferrably in this thread, please. Other than that, may the eyes of the night-lurkers be cured
