    "V/A - Cascades of Life"

Artist: Various Title: Cascades of Life Label: Psynews Date: May, 2016 1. Imba - 604 Revolution 2. Profetia - Rage Against The Crashing 3. Colin OOOD & Goa Travellers - 100 Billion Neurons 4. BlackStarrFinale - Seige of Phobos 5. Phobium - Orbital Resonance 6. Nebula Meltdown - Didgeridreams 7. Dragon Twins - Foster 8. Cybernetika - Prismatic Reflection 9. Xenofish - Made Out of Stars 10. OneArcDegree feat. Georgia Irakli - The Tree Maiden "All of life is made of sound. I mean, everything vibrates." "There are 100 billion neurons in the brain. Everything you do...and everything you are." The world's number one psychedelic trance site is proud to present its next compilation which includes tracks from new and veteran artists. It's a potpourri of genres and there should be something there for everyone. Mastered by Deimos with artwork by Gasolin3 the compilation is free to download at Ektoplazm. In a classy move this was dedicated to one time Psynews moderator Nemo who we unfortunately lost this year. The first two tracks are quality straightforward goa trance that will move the body. Pure power. Leave it to Colin to soften the mood and provide a more relaxed feel that is no less spacey. That is until the climax throws razor sharp 303 daggers. BlackStarrFinale is back with what at first seems a cosmic downtempo track, but eventually morphs into a groovy, bouncy head nodder that lost none of its atmosphere. And speaking of atmosphere, Phobium's Orbital Resonance embraces the cold chill of space reminiscent of masters Tangerine Dream mixed with Vangelis. The cosmos is viewed in high definition as this long ambient track slowly but deliciously unfolds. Really that didn't feel like 11 minutes. The refused to be pigeon-holed Nebula Meltdown incorporates a smooth progressive didgeridoo in Didgeridreams that has a floaty quality. The most striking offering goes to Foster from Dragon Twins. Dark and eerie it gets up in your business in a hurry and at times reaches that nearly unbearable level of screechy. But that cunchy 303 madness tho...so satisfying. Lars Goosens (Cybernetika) can seemingly do no wrong with his brand of science fiction drum n bass and like the rest of you I'm salivating at the thought of his announced trilogy of music. The question here is how does he extend this track for over 11 minutes? And how does he keep it from getting boring? Xenofish delivers Made Out of Stars in a very similar vein only without many changes. If there was one track here that I felt suffered from being overlong it was this one. The Tree Maiden is a soft exit ambient tune with gentle vocals and the sound of falling water. Good job by everyone involved. The compilation doesn't disappoint and flows magnificently. As mentioned there is something in here for everyone so don't hesitate to download this. RIP Nemo! Free at Ektoplazm

    Women in psynews

Hello everyone! I am gonna take a little break from online channels but before I go I'd like to address this question: why is there so very little amount of women active in psynews? Besides me there's no a single active woman who is regularly posting, among the members there are few and they occasionally post e.g. in party announcements. This state of being is very different from dance floors where women are abundant; also in fb groups e.g. Suntrippers in English girls comment and like. I don't have an answer, but of what I know, the situation is no new in the existence of the forum. I have three insights and they are: women squint tech talk, they dislike intruding onto a mister club and they aren't willing to walk into a street fight when expressing an opinion (the theme we just saw in UX topic). A taboo this is to a certain extent. What's your educated guess over the reasons or should the topic stay "buried"? And have you guys been thinking about this? I am curious

    New Psynews Contest

Dear Psynews members we're pleased to announce our brand new contest! After the success of our previous compilations Psychedelic Sparks and Sideffect we are finally ready for our next psychedelic chapter. Ten tracks submitted and voted for by you will win a place in the tracklist of our new, still unnamed compilation. A compilation that will represent the talent, enthusiasm and love of music of Psynews.org community. The submission period starts right now and it will last for 2 months. Then we will announce the voting period, so please stay close. Let's go! If you wish to submit a track please read carefully the following FAQ: Q: What is Psynews Contest 2015? A: A contest where artists can submit their tracks and have a chance to win a place to our brand new compilation voted by our members. Q: How to participate? A: First you will need a SoundCloud account. If you don't have one just visit: www.soundcloud.com and create one, it's easy and free. Upload your track in your account and join the Psynews Contest 2015 group. Then go to your track, click the Add To Group option and select the Psynews Contest 2015 group. Your track will be moderated and if approved will be ready for the contest. Q: What kind of music can I submit? A: Any Psytrance and Psybient subgenres are welcome. Goa, Full On, Progressive, Suomi, Twilight, Darkpsy, Forest, Hi-Tech, Psycore, Psybreaks, Experimental, Proto-Goa, Deep Trance, Dub, Downtempo, Ambient. You name it, we want it. However being a Psytrance contest we will only approve tracks belonging in the Psytrance family. Other styles of electronic music like House, Techno, Drum and Bass, Eurodance, Normal Trance, Gabber, Electro, Dubstep etc. are not qualified for the contest. We are pretty open minded to any kind of experimentation and fusion and we are generally more tolerant of tracks that lie on the borderline of other styles (most likely Progressive), but we still draw a line. Your track may be as long as you want, but overly long tracks (20+ minutes) may be frowned upon due to file size limit. Your track must be complete. No demo or edits will be approved to the group. Remixes of other artists' work are NOT allowed. You can, however, submit a remix of one of your tracks. Your track may be uploaded in any format you want, but if you'll win we will need a WAV or AIFF file. (See below for more details). Q: How many tracks can I submit? A: The limit is one track per artist. A collaboration between two or more artists count as a different project, so you can have a track by yourself plus another one with another artist/s. Q: Can I upload another track or another version of my track if I change my mind? A: Yes, you can remove, edit or upload another track (as long as your remove your previous one) for as long as the submission period is on. After the deadline expires we will not approve any more changes. Q: So what if I win? A: First of all congratulations. Then we will need your track in 24bit/44kHz (at least) WAV or AIFF file, with no effects on master channel whatsoever and with at least 3dB of headroom. Your track must also follow the following criteria: No bootlegs, mash-ups, or copyright-infringing sample usage, especially when the source is pop music from the major labels. You must own the rights to all the music you plan to share! Note: if you are a member of a collection society like SOCAN (in Canada), GEMA (in Germany), or other such organizations you do not actually have the right to distribute your own music here! We encourage all artists to cancel their membership with such organizations. Q: Will the compilation be free and will I have to pay for anything? A: Our compilation will be distributed for free. We will handle all the mastering and cover art costs. Q: What if my track is already mastered? A: That depends. If your track has been mastered by a professional we will review it. Our goal is to have coherent sound all along, so if your mastering does not fit the tone of the rest of the compilation we will need the unmastered version. Q: Will Psynews.org hold any rights of my music? A: No, Psynews.org is not a label. Your track belongs and will belong to you. However the goal of this contest is to have a compilation with exclusive tracks submitted and voted by our community, so if you're already planning to release your track in a future album, EP or compilation we would prefer you to submit another one. Likewise if your track has already been officialy released we would need a fresh one. Q: How long will the submission period last? A: Two months. The period starts at 11th September 2015 and it will end at 11th November 2015 23:59:59 GMT. No tracks will be approved after the deadline expires. Q: How will the voting be held and how will the mod team assure me there will be no cheating? A: After the submission period is over there will be a lengthy period of time where Psynews members will listen and vote for their favourite tracks. After the voting period is expired the 10 tracks with the most votes will win. Since this is not our first contest we have the experience to prevent any double accounts or other methods of cheating. Q: What if I have any questions? A: Reply directly to this thread or PM a Psynews admin or mod. Alternatively PM the Psynews.org team at Soundcloud. Good luck!

    Is Psynews dying?

So how is it? Are we up in a few years? 1. Funding 2. Active commenting (I have seen posts with not a single comment) 3. Sleeper members (should them be activated like sending e-mails: we miss you) 4. Guests; without this option psynews posts could not be shared in some but, hey, do the spying folks belong to this world beyond ? 5. What makes the difference bw psynews and other online sites 6. Other things that makes this forum attractive/unattractive I could not live without this place anymore. I am willing to keep it up and well. An idea of posting this came on the basis of a discussion with a friend last night. He said he thinks psynews is gradually dying

    Psynews on Facebook

We're living in age where social networks play important role, not only in promotion-wise, but also in terms of connecting people with similar ideas. Psynews is one of the biggest forums dedicated to psychedelic music and every day we can read here some new review or listen to some demo stuff from young and talented artists, there are also great topics in music production sub-forums. The fact is that many Psynews members and guests/visitors got Facebook and it would be a great thing to connect all great topics with Facebook page dedicated to this board, so people who are on facebook can receive fresh data such as reviews, new demos, label annoucements, etc. It doesn't cost nothing, only thing you need is some time to create a page and forward it here and on facebook. It will surley gain much more traffic and hopefully new members here, who gonna discuss in many topics dedicated to psychedelic trance. What do you think about it? P.S. - My appologies for starting this topic in wrong section, I can't start a new topic in Psynews ORG subforum, but probably here more people will see it.

    "V/A - Sideffect"

Artist: Various Title: Sideffect Label: Psynews Date: July, 2013 01 - Paul Eye & Olisan - Daikaisho (132 BPM) 02 - Hierophant - Intergalactic Love Song (133 BPM) 03 - Zero Point Module - Chromatic Fail (147 BPM) 04 - Kacid - Confusing Patterns (148 BPM) 05 - Saluberrimae - Fl0ating (120 BPM) 06 - Radioactive Sandwich - Sound Vibration Technique (75 BPM) 07 - Seismic Activity - Revelation (140 BPM) 08 - Imba - Moon Tribe (142 BPM) 09 - Lapsus - Normality (147 BPM) 10 - PhonoPhora - Phunnel (Version 1.1) (87 BPM) I didn't really know Koen. Spoke to him a few times and the conversations were always pleasant. But when you're used to "seeing" somebody as active as he was in the Psynews forum suddenly...not be there...it's a shock. I don't know the details of his passing nor do I feel I should. All I can hope for is that he found peace wherever he is. As the promo says this was a contest where members of the Psynews community submitted tracks in a bid to be featured on a compilation. I don't know if this was always planned to be dedicated to Koen or not, but it's a nice gesture and one I imagine he would have appreciated. Voted on by the community this is the result. Mastered by Deimos and artwork by Gasolin3, it's ten tracks of varying bpm's and numerous genres. Daikaisho- The first track is a gentle progressive trance number that is a nice opener and helps to ease you into this compilation. Soft melodies and bubbling sounds. Intergalactic Love Song- Didn't Stone Temple Pilots have a hit with...oh, that was Interstate. So obviously we're going bigger. Strong beat and smooth electric piano with long sweeps make this a pumping progressive track. Chromatic Fail- A galloping futuristic darkish track with metallic leads. Not bad. Confusing Patterns- Really like the deep bass line, it's got quite the rumble. It's a forest track with a lush atmospheric feel. Sticky synth sounds abound as the sound manipulation moves full force. Two really good breaks as well. What are they saying? Fl0ating- Smooth and oscillating downtempo that has spiraling leads in a goa fashion. The break felt organic when all the synths dropped out, nice touch. Sound Vibration Technique- And now a track by the very busy Sandwich! Dubby vibes slowly make their way across a picturesque beach. Strings are plucked, vocals are chopped...It'll keep your head nodding. Revelation- Good goa trance track that twists the cutoff knob for all it's worth. Once it gets going it's pretty powerful. Moon Tribe- I believe Imba was the winner of this contest. With this track he stokes the conspiracy fire as the sample about UFO's plays out. Normality- Lapsus delivers the best track of the compilation with a shimmery and ominous effort. Most aggressive also. Very cosmic and one that will hurtle you through hyperspace. Phunnel (Version 1.1)- Closing the compilation is a downtempo track that morphs into a deep trance track. Also very dreamy as the dance of the galaxy marches on. I didn't feel it was proper to crack jokes on a compilation that was meant to be reverential. Just didn't feel right. This is a nice gesture to honor a member of our community. While not the strongest compilation you will hear it shows how much talent is on this forum. With almost an hour and a half of music tracks from different genres are well represented and as a member of this forum I'm happy to have given this a listen. I hope you enjoyed it Koen.
