I need a new HiFi system ... some input please?
RTP replied to RTP's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
That's cool ... mine won't be that cheap, but since I need more than just the amp, I decided to look for a more complete system ... and I currently have set my eyes on a Technics one ... will be amp, receicver (which I absolutely don't need) and a tape deck ... CD player still needs to be sorted ... I hope Technics is a good brand, I only know them because of their direct drive turntables -
YES there is the plan to revive the contest - I was busy with the rules till recently ... will see, maybe we can launch this... Huh, it worked for me ... I just copypasted the link text. Browser: Firefox Listened to it. It's cool stuff so far - instant idea: Take @Veracohr 's track, enrich it with @Psychedelic Superbeast 's melody number 3 from the first video (the one that starts at 0:39 ... you might have to adapt the tonal relation though so that it matches) ... and the whole thing might develop into something more goatrancey in the progress of the track, ideas for that are still missing in my head though... I need to get a Cubase (I only can work with Cubase, we used it for Skeletone - but my mate is decomissioning the sudio and takes the Cubase dongle with him, it's his) to be able to participate in this (which I'd be up to) ... and I need to go for a legal one. I'll see what I can afford ... have to get an audio system first ... one after the other

Do you have a recommendation on a really calm ambient album to sleep to
RTP replied to psytones's topic in Other Electronica
@WarpedMind guess what, I have developed the same problem ... I can't sleep to drone or dark ambient anymore, I get feelings of uneasiness ... can't even do psy ambient anymore, it makes me sad and feel alone ... but, joy of joys, I have found exactly what is needed in my situation - light ambient, that is positive and on the fantasy side: The Guild of Ambience are the best. They really do this specific type of ambient, exactly what I need: no darkness, no depression. Instead, a sound so clear and crisp that you almost begin to smell that mountain air... They also have ASMR noise of old mansions with howling wind and rain - or ships with their creaking wood and gentle rolling waves ... I really like to sleep to these sounds aswell... I'm recommending that Guild especially because their productions have a degree of warmth and gentle mastering, that is very suitable for my ears. -
Yeah, that one is good - as in: well made ... although I think you can produce a similar effect by just playing Atrium Carceri and a heavy techno piece side by side. I have to say, however, I don't like the dark vibe so much that engulfs this piece ... to me the noisy tracks are dark aswell, but they sound like the composer is still willing to live and change something in the world, that it doesn't stay like that - and be it only dancing ... dark pieces like this one, however, have a sort of resignation in the vibe - it feels like the composer has given up hope ... and that's what drags me down along with it. It's a personal issue though...

That's a good one ... will remember AnD

And here's a really cool one ... it's these tracks that actually interest me the most, those that not only touch, but also cross the border between Techno and Industrial / Noise ... Ah-Cama Sotz did it: you can feel it has less bass, but far more bite in the noise - this is what I am after
-
I liked Techno before getting into Trance ... but that phase didn't last long, I practicaly only listened to Mauro Picotto I was 15 and had no budget for any more releases, so forgive me the very restricted musical scope Nowadays I'm rediscovering Techno myself ... I especially like the harder and more industrial stuff... I got these recommendations ... from hard (dark?) towards more "light" stuff: second of these is my favourite, does anybody have some similar ones?

hmmm ... my heart thinks, you are looking for StrangeZero ... they are not completely beatless, but fabulous, please check them out here is a beatless track (ambient mostly) and here is a not beatless, but in my opinion much better one: and if you like The Herb Garden, you'll love them ... I once said, on here, something along the lines of "they are like The Path that Carbon Based Lifeforms should've taken" (yes, the path with a capital T and P as an insider ) oh yes and Carbon Based Lifeforms - or CBL - is another suggestion, but that's ambient or psybient ... and you said you don't want that...
-
Hey I love The Streets ... but I like the more gritty side of them: or this one: this sounds like it's going with me when I'm drunk ... without the mushrooms of course...
-
three words: Finntroll new album should be out soon

I think the "other art" was just movies and literature ... so merging that with OT was the right thing to do. For that what you _probably_ mean with art, you could use the "visual promotion" forum if you had art to post that's at least related to psychedelic trance... I have no idea, sorry

Thanks I think I'll go for the old option. Already contacted a first seller ... lets see what it brings. I have a phono preamp though. Will keep you posted -
I need a new HiFi system ... some input please?
RTP replied to RTP's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Great, thanks for the input - I see that I have two ways to go now: old way = used equipment: old amp and old CD player ... plus some old passive speakers that are nice new way = active monitors and some CD player gear... I'd appreciate some hints for the old amps - I have litterlally no clue about that stuff -
yeah that was a good one, I knew this track for a long time ... used it as a comedown / chiller after sports... @recursion loop and @Padmapani the track "Accessoire" is 7 years old actually, since it was posted on Human Blue's own Soundcloud 7 years ago, which I - funnily enough - only just realized Actually there's more there aswell: There he's also writing something about a new album ... but I don't really buy these news. It was the same with S-Range ... there's no new album legally out till now... But we have to be thankful to Bakke and Iboga Records that this Human Blue track is finally released...

That was unnecessary ... you're lucky that Loop took it cool. My thumbs up for that! @Tsotsi you did well there - I could listen to more of these. I think for doing this, you need a personality that's suitable for video making - and you have that ... I don't know if I have that personality, I probably am more suitable for interviews and asking questions... All the best! I hope that you will do more of these. AstralSphinx's list is a good suggestion if you were looking for any

Hi ... I'm not sure this it the best section for this, but I need some advice from gear people and this is where many of them hang out, so... ... my "Hifi system" (it's an ordinary compact Hifi system, nothing professional ... one of the kind that stood in many a youngster's room in the 00's maybe) stopped working properly, it now switched to a mono unit as one speaker is dead and I hereby decide that this is not bearable anymore. Here's how this thing looked like: I kept procrastrinating eternally, but now it's over - I need a new one! Well, I have been looking - and problems arise: these compact HiFi systems are not sold anymore in the form I used to know them. It seems, that there's only two forms now anymore: either go full professional (and terribly expensive) with receiver, amp and whatnot ... or you go compact, with tiny speakers and usually also very limited functionality. Most of the tiny ones don't have what I need. I absolutely need these features: - reasonably good sound that also has a reasonable amount of bass ... doesn't have to be super great, but mine actually did well ... imagine playing Noma - Navigator on it. The tiny ones sound like a box of matches... - a headphone jack is an absolute must - and I'd prefer a large one, not the small jack - two external input pairs with the red and white cables ... my system had one, but it'd be nice if there were two = I want to connect the vinyl player and the TV at the same time rather than always plug and unplug I'd also find it cool if there was a tape deck, but it's not a must. The price is a big factor for me ... it may not be too big. When a 2 input channel amp alone is 400 EUR, I am out. I'd seriously like to spend less than that on the whole thing = speakers, amp and CD player ... but is there even something half-decent available with that budget? What Hi Fi system do you have? Which one you can recommend? Is it a good idea to look for a used professional one - are these units sturdy and long-lasting? Any experiences? I really need some help, haven't found anything in my comfort zone yet...

So I thought about this a little, but I have to say that there's not that much to offer at the moment from my side. Haven't been in the studio with my mate since months - and now they're moving out of it anyway. Have to get a production environment going ... then I can contribute. My level is this right now ... made this track out of building blocks myself ... not really a great thing skill-wise, it was just made by patching together building blocks - and no mastering: I got a better one lying around, but I have to see if I still have the files - it won't be good without any files...
-
I think you as old progressive lovers might like this ... despite it's a NEW TRACK:
-
I really, really liked that one. Cool and that one was really good too - for the first three minutes it was great, unfortunately a little low after that
-
beh ... if we are already there, one more: (with subtitles) ... may be a little NSFW, but the music is a.w.e.s.o.m.e.o.

By the way ... this is popular pop ... and it's damn awesome. Scary actually, because the song is full of strange meaning if you understand german ... Falco died a short time after finishing that one... I like this:
-
OMG you know AIGEL? Respect! AIGEL is one of the best bands I know. I love her vocal performance ... it's so awesome. Here's one more: The best is "You're Born" though. I have not yet met a band that can actually portrait my flight anxiety in sound and screen. AIGEL did it. This is masterful ... the work of genious minds ... makes me feel so good... HOWEVER ... you are kinda missing the point a little I'm afraid because it's good music - or are these "top ten pop songs" in other countries? Then my theory would be correct indeed and I'd confess myself 100% guilty for liking bad pop music - if I don't understand the lyrics
-
That's cool. Cheers!
-
I was so free and removed the vids from the quote - save bandwidth, save Co2 Great selections though @Basilisk And yes Ladytron is great. It took me a while to get used to, but I really like them - and also Marnie's sideproject. Not really "popular pop" though...
-
No - on the contrary ... first this inspires me to a story, second to a confession. One after the other. So I have been on a forum in the past - great times - there was this one guy, a black metal fan - I assume, because he had a strong love for Akercocke - who _convincinly_ posted, that Britney Spears is an alien or a speical lifeform and that she communicated with him through his dreams. And the point is, he didn't just ramble on like some lunatic, there was a spark of genius in these posts, some elements that made you think, wait, not only is this guy for real - what if she really DID communicate ... it was really well done, including elements that were shown in videos and statements to the public from her that he claimed were done for him... Like I said, great times Slight problem is, he anchored Britney Spears for me to these stories and claims ... and there's this fraction of a thought left in me that says "what if it was true?" ... I was very much into "secret signs and symbols in popular music" back then, found a series of videos, long ones, that explained the signs and symbols and boy oh boy, we are doomed, that's what sticks... My confession? I really, really like Lady Gaga - Telephone ... that is a damn awesome song Hate the video though. Too many breaks that cut the flow. But that song, damn it's good. I have not yet heard a modern and "super-well-known" pop song that sounds better. The only better songs I know are from Michael Jackson and Falco ... and maybe Madonna... Interestingly, the rest of Lady Gagas stuff is ... not that stellar ... but that Telephone song is genuinely awesome... Ah well, can't let you go like that, can I? Here's another one that I love to death: hee hee
