  1. i agree with alot that has been said here, its good but its lacking in some things. I would say the biggest thing is that it needs more contrast, haveing restraint and more sparse parts will make the more intense parts even more intense sounding.
  2. "am i the only one that thinks its not that good? its certainly not bad, but far far far from being cheese-free and even dark (???) that someone said.." that was my first impression as i was hoping for something more dark. I guess its hard to say are you shpongled is "dark", its just more "alien". If you like the first album i dont see how you cant like the track "but nothing lasts", thats very are you shpongled sounding to me, almost like a part of and day turned to night. When i gave up on hoping it sounded more like the first album and just listened to the insane musicality it started to sound alot better. i mean comeon, behind closed eyelids can never ever be topped.
  3. "When's his release of a Solo album (hopes) and where does he tour.." http://www.phosphene.org/news.shtml
  4. i really havent liked much of what simon has done since the first shpongle album but this album is just sick. I think this album has made me apreciate shpongle 2 even more as i didnt get into it because what i was really hopeing for was are you shpongled part 2. To me this is album is proof simon is still the supreme god of this whole genre and REALLY makes me look forward to hopefully hearing Hallucinogen 3 someday.
  5. ahh hell yea, that ghreg on earth track is SICK. your track sounds pretty cool too but i like the dark stuff with deeper bass and more distortion
  6. yea defianetly check out ghreg if you want to hear dark stuff. his upcoming album is going to kick ass. what is KansasSilos off?
  7. ive only got in to play 2 tracks so far, the first one i played was falling awake and i was thinking "what is this shit". i should say i HATE the second album, i think ive listened to the second album twice and ive listened to are you shpongled at least 1500 times. ...But nothing is lost is real shpongle music, that clipped fucking rocked.
  8. "With these kind of questions, I always go for the most powerful, amazing goa trance track ever - PLEIADIANS - MAIA, simply the best hypnotic music !" while i agree that is the most amazing and hypnotic track ever made i think for energy and power you have to give it to electra. Electra is like getting hit by a bolt of lightning in some spots. I mean even the track title is perfect.
  9. ahh i cant believe no has mentioned early neuromotor, like fuck the dat mafia trance express. I need to find that Alienated track, their track on black rhino is pretty damn intense too. hallucinogen - soothsayer (lysergic warning rmx) most of Ghreg on Earths stuff GMS - dirty harry psychopod - universal mind
  10. I think a contest is a great idea, without getting all philosophical about "the arts" and who is best, competition still tends to brings out the best in people. I dont see the point though in making a cd from the tracks, there is enough releases by named artist let alone by unknown artist on a message board. That just sounds like a good way to lose money. Why not have the rules be its a friendly competition, like some people getting togather to play soccer and not a pro soccer match for money. How about sound wise the idea is to try to make something that COULD be released on suntrip(ie. its a goa competition) and then maybe suntrip even likes some of the tracks enough to include them on a comp. I totally understand why suntrip cant commit to saying they will without question put out the winner, that would be stupid. I also think a more goa competition would gain more interest from people who dont come on the board all the time. There is thousands of free tracks in all different styles to download, it would be alot more interesting if it had a direction. If you dont make stuff like what is released on suntrip it would also be a cool way to expand your horizons as an artist and try to make something new. I entered a track in some dance industrial remix contest and although i dont even like that type of music much, it was alot of fun trying to do it even though i never heard back from the label.
  11. ahhh damit i voted before i noticed Texas Faggot on there. While not the best, the Texas Faggot album is certainly the most fucked up and "psychedelic".
  12. well im about 8 hours away but its really not worth a trip to hear a cd. Are you shpongled is my all time fav album in any genere but everything about 3 smells of extreme cheese. Big NYC release party with a big cheesey flyer, the "last" album even though im sure there will be a shpongle remix album or 2.
  13. simon's obscure anubis - the rites of ra that track owns
  14. i think the cover is ok but calx old style was so much more original and pyschedelic.
  15. "http://www.musicfinland.com/texasfaggott/gear.htm" hahaha texas faggot rules
  16. you should check out the classical music midi archive if you never have http://www.classicalarchives.com/ if you have ok general midi sounds they sound rather nice, its also cool that if you find something you like you can always open it up in your sequencer and check out whats going on note wise.
  17. this is a really handy little tool for this type of thing http://www.apassion4jazz.net/keys.html
  18. how quickly do you need this? I make digital art and would love to do a cover for fun. I wouldnt want to just throw something togather all sloppy though, i could probly make something decent in about 2 weeks?
  19. i totally agree with not getting everything at once, i wasted like $1500 on my startup studio. I bought 2 computers(i really dont know why i thought i needed two) a korg electribe and a nord micro modular. the electribe was useless, the micromod was way over my head and i eventually ended up selling everything at a big loss. Reason is good but fruity loops and all the tons of free softsynths would be even cheaper. Oh yea i also ended up at some point getting a midi controller because everyone said you have to have one even though i cant play keys to save my life. That collected dust in the corner until it was sold. Defianetly dont waste your money on a mixer(you have no gear, what are you going to mix?) I dont even see the point in getting monitors until you know what your doing, a decent pair of headphones might be better because you will want them eventually and its also nice to just listen to music through them. If you do want to jump right in and blow some cash, fruity loops, a used virus b, a used m-audio audiophile and if you dont have stereo speakers and and amp a pair of sony mdr headphones. That would cost about $750 and if you ever give up you could still probly sell everything for $650-700 on ebay. Software is all the rage right now but hardware is a way better value if you get stuff that was big in the late 90's used. I just sold a synth i had for 2 years and made 20 bucks.
  20. yea im sure texas faggot isnt all that concerned with selling albums, they are insane. this is the best interview ive ever read http://www.psynews.org/intervws/texas.htm
  21. well whats said is yahel's cover doesnt look that out of place with those and all those are from the 70's and 80's.
  22. defianetly check out Bluetech. I really dont like much of the downtempo stuff outside of shpongle and simon's various other downtempo stuff. Bluetech stuff is just mind blowing, its totally equal as far as crazy musicality goes. Also, myster of the yeti - welcome to all extraterrestrials could easily be a track on are you shpongled. For truely beatless ambient , lustmord makes some sick dark ambient.
  23. or just try to use samples from sources that are also quite obscure. the chances of getting sued for useing an unknown sample on an underground psy track are practically zero. If you do use samples from popular sources try to at least time stretch, alter the pitch a bit and maybe the formants. I think a good example of a sample is GMS "Dirty Harry", "the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convinceing the world he didnt exist". Im almost positive that sample is from the movie the usual suspects but they have altered it so it sounds no different than someone talking but way different than the actual movie. If they did get sued for that i think they would have a really hard time proving that it wasnt just some guy they recorded talking into a mic. also please dont sample the matrix, whatever you do...
  24. yea bush is great, mostly fucking bankrupting my country...i would prefer he did nothing. I cant wait for this album, to me neuromotor IS dark trance, everything else just sounds wimpy or stupid in comparison as far as dark trance goes. A love song by neuromotor... i dont know about that one though. A funny story my friend told me about seeing neuromotor live. When they got to the venue there was this weird guy dancing like a monkey right in front of main speaker to one of the opening acts. He had never seen a picture of Fred before and then later in the night when they recognize the first neuromotor track has started its the dancing monkey guy in control of the show
  25. panacea is baddass. you might also like some of Dieselboy's stuff, but some is darker than others. Venetian Snares isnt really drum n bass but breakcore, but is some of the most fucked up music ive ever heard.
