  1. ahh you told him the perfect thing, "drop the GMS influence". Its like all of psytrance has taken this turn down the path of GMS style a few years ago. Thats why i cant stand full on, it sounds like a lame ripoff of the old good GMS stuff. Ive been really into the misted muppet album, its almost exactly what ive been waiting for if the lead synths would be less harsh and boring sounding.
  2. i would defianetly be up for helping with a site like this. what kind of help are you looking for?
  3. im not sure if this will be of any help but you might like the track VNV Nation - Standing. Its grouped in the industrial category but it sounds total dark trance, with vocals that fit perfectly over the music. Its a really existential song, not sad, not happy. The whole album that its on, empires is just amazing. this review from amazon sums up the album to me : "Suppose that all of the greatest euphoric heights of trance were cast into a concentrated area of anguished emotion. Then suppose that this mixture was fired through with electricity, and then shot on a beam of light into the setting sun. Upon impact, the wave created would be... The sound that comes out of the speakers whilst this CD spins."
  4. yea ill be glad too if Beija Flor is out. Not that its awefull by any means, its just lacking in some special shpongle ingredient that cant quite be pinned down. I just hope they make the "ethnic" influences more transparent like on the first one. Odd time sigs but no salsa dancing.
  5. m not going to get to excited over this. I cant imagine it will be anything even close to "old school" sounding. As pointed out with Chi AD, labels seem to afraid to release something that sounds like goa, especially being its going to be on 3-D vision. I suspect it will sound like a more full on version of body and soul.
  6. yea who are the new goa artist? I didnt know there was enough stuff coming out for such a thing. that would rock
  7. "ok if there is a rock band that comes up with a killer song and do NOT know shit about it before starting, tell who they are." Maybe dream theater could could write out everything before hand, i honestly cant think of any other rock band that WOULDNT make a song by just improvising until something solid formed.
  8. "And since rock music isnt that rich in sounds, yes they DO know how that killer song should sound before they start making it." jamming is improvisation, making something up as you go along. no different than someone sitting down in front of a sequencer, making a bunch of loops/sounds/noise, keeping some, tossing some, making the good stuff into a song. same exact thing. If you think all rock bands pre compose everything in their head your insane.
  9. "o offence Nemo but IMO that's a wrong aproach to creating meaningful music. For me, a true artist should have a vision of what he's going to create BEFORE even touching his gear. The gear should just be an "instrument"," Thats absurd, what about rock bands that come up with a killer song after 2 weeks of "jamming" ? To me, screwing around with the computer without a defined idea of what your looking for is no different than someone jamming on a guitar, bass and drums. Most musicians arent quite on the level of bach and mozart that can just transcribe entire pieces that they are hearing in their mind.
  10. does anyone know what the hell Carlo Paterno is doing music wise these days then if he was the melodic guy befind the old stuff? It kind of sounds like this going to be a pink floyd album from when after waters left.
  11. there are real black light tshirts that twisted put out awhile back with the old logo. I just have one with the smaller logo, the good one has the old twisted logo about 2 foot tall on the front of the tshirt. what about scanning in the logo from a cd or album?
  12. I think for old stuff its easily blue planet corp. - antidote (pleiadians rmx) for new stuff its got to be something by neuromotor but there is to much to pick from.
  13. Does anyone else think its kind of cool that this could be the last album? I mean it will be kind of lame after calling it "nothing lasts" to bring out something else. That seems to be the perfect ending to shpongle, especially if the last track is some masterpiece(how could it not be?)

    IFO

first i should say IFO is by far my all time fav goa album. I can completely see how if your into new stuff though you might not like it at first. Surely give it a few listens before discarding it. I would namely listen to maia and electra until/if you get into the album. Nothing in psy/goa is close for me to when the the last longer pad melody comes in on maia after building for the whole track or on electra about a third of the way through when the one synth melody finishes its line with everything else dropped out then the most storming goa ever made comes back in.
