  1. cosmosis is a good example of how to do it right. the latest album has enough goa influence and is innovative and distinctive enough to make me happy. i don't know what koxbox is up to and tbh didn't really like any of his output after 'forever after'. but transwave?!? what i have seen and heard about their new album seems to me like pretty standard fullon plus dumbed-down versions of their old hits...
  2. agreed. i've never seen anyone who was not disappointed by a pleiadians/etnica liveset. on the other hand man with no name and hallucinogen do fine by still playing goa trance.
  3. i got this album today and am listening to it the second time now. the first time i listened on speakers. my thoughts were: hmm.. nice floating, but quite dark and with a lot of energy. the only tracks that stood out for me were the last three. then i put on the headphones and: holy shit! this is amazing! so much detail, subtle but everchanging melodies and effects arranged wonderfully. and the music doesn't really sound dark anymore. the tracks still sound much alike and are a bit repetitive, but i can totally get lost in these soundscapes. i don't like 'shamanistic rituals' that much. some of the melodies get on my nerves. but the rest are solid tracks with 'dansul ilelor' being a great uptempo track and the last two tracks (especially 'ninive under the stars') are real masterpieces. all in all a really good and innovative album with a distinctive style and a whole lot of psychedelia, that's missing so much in most of modern psytrance.
  4. @ cover of full service compiled by dharmakaya having 5 copies of the molecular structure of mdma on it doesn't make make it any better either..
  5. @depths he obviously doesn't like nice vocals (like in snake dance or trip in transkei), but rather the unbearably cheesy vocoder pop crap.
  6. i'm with digitoxin that the storytelling is a bit missing on this album and i find i to be the weakest suntrip release for me this year. but perhaps it will grow on me with time like the merr0w album did. even though i don't find it very good for home listening, i think that most of the tracks would work very well on the dancefloor.
  7. the samples sound great. this one is a sure buy. i'm normally not that much into ambient, but the last two tracks on this album is exactly what i expect from downtempo. i would love a whole album with tracks like that.
  8. definitely lateralus. the album is just one trippy voyage. second place would be aenima. i don't like 10 000 days that much. i think maynard sounds a bit drunk on that one.
  9. kox in german is pronounced like koks which is a slang term for cocain, which lead to some interesting jokes and to me having an image of a box filled with cocaine every time i hear their name.
  10. same here. ich nehm an es war sogar die selbe party irgendwo in einer großen halle in wien
  11. absolutely. it's only after listening to agneton's album that i've come to appreciate some nitzho (mostly newschool nitzho. a lot of the old stuff is too cheesy for me).
  12. i would love a rerelease with better sound quality. it's a pity that the sound quality is so bad when the music is so lovely! @topic Goasia - Taboo
  13. i saw them live this autumn and must say that i'm totally not impressed by their new tracks. +1 to penzoline
  14. i've known this one for a long time, but i now realized for the first time that some of the samples of NRG and Hard Trance sound exactly like fullon
  15. it's the same here. a notable exception was dj kraak at ozora festival who played some older psy tracks and even some goa (e.g. mahadeva). the crowd went wild like i've rarely seen before!
  16. not really. i think that most other goa (not even goa from doof, mfg, miranda or cosmosis [well, cosmosis maybe...]) doesn't have acidlines as crazy as luna overdrive
  17. results up to now: 13:0 can someone please tell the dj's?
  18. his fullon stuff (which can be quite good if he leaves out the guitars. morning star and the prayer do stand out in a good way in the seemingly endless sea of crappy fullon releases) certainly isn't underrated, but maybe his goa stuff is. you don't really see his older releases mentioned often. the track luna overdrive from the stardiver album definitely is underrated. you don't hear acid crazyness like that every often.
  19. yes i did. it's a bit cheap and cheesy, but as i listened to freetekno/acid tekno/hardcore before i came to psytrance i have no problem with that. i simply hate that 1/16 bass at over 150bpm. it just blurs into one hum and the drowns out the kick on mediocre sound systems (like they have on virtually every indoor party over here...). i would appreciate darkpsy much more if it used tekno-like bass and kicks.
  20. then try OOOD - Kundalini it uses the same sample (or a part of it) and it repeats almost for the whole track
  21. not bad. better than a lot of darkpsy, which i'm not a fan of. for hard, fast psychedelic music also look here. especially the last 3 tracks (Tun mir etwas, Neodymion, Beyond Acid) have psy/goa melodies, psychedelic sounds and a fat kick which imho sweeps the floor with the weak kick of darkpsy (and lacks the 1/16 bass that sounds so awful at higher bpm).
