  1. Just switching from Biosphere-Patashnik to Morphem-Out Of Focus.
  2. Well technically the Asia 2001 "promo" versions are the exact same as the originals, only they have slightly different artwork. But I don't have EAC or want to get it so I can't help here.
  3. Mobile Consciousness, Flexible Culture: Notes on the Rise and Fall of Goa Trance by Luther C. Elliott I won't upload it because it's a 16MB phd dissertation and not worth reading anyways. Anyways, I read the first 40 pages, skimmed over them at least, and I learned not one thing. This is a great nauseating postmodern work, all the sentences are worded so as to be practically meaningless, just hot air expressed in extravagent language. I think I figured out after 40 pages that the author doesn't like goa trance... that's about all.
  4. I've suddenly changed my opinion, Koxbox are the best!
  5. Trance and visibility at dawn: racial dynamics in Goa’s rave scene I just read this, parts of it were quite interesting and humorous. PDF Download
  6. Ott is an interesting case for me too. He has what? 4-5 album tracks that seem quite nicely structured to me, and a lot of tracks that are very floaty and forgettable. I find Queen of Everything pretty epic. I could be thrown off by the dub though, I don't listen to dub very much. Mystical Sun is another interesting case. The first 4 tracks on Deeperworlds are completely different style from the others.
  7. Less expanded consciousness. It's very hard to say because I've changed radically since I discovered psytrance. But I don't think psytrance alone (or perhaps at all) is to account for that.
  8. Funny when people say "Respect!" to you when they obviously don't respect you at all as they are trying to rip you off. My aunt has a business doing this stuff and these are extremely extremely overpriced. Maybe I should ask her to make me some psychedelic design shirts, I don't think they are very cool though, I'd probably get bullied.
  9. Is this some kind of trick? I already posted in the thread about Koxbox that I can enjoy them on a small scale, but they are not my favorites by a long shot.
  10. Hmm, do you not feel the epic build ups in their tracks? It doesn't have much to do with how much the track changes in sound from beginning to end, but epic tracks usually don't change much, because they focus on telling 1 story with 1 set of characters (sounds). There's no need to end up talking about completely different characters for these stories. I don't think there's any parallel to floating music in literature, I've never read any book that skips arounds many different characters not developing an overall plot and interrelation between them all.
  11. I think the terms I chose might be a little confusing sorry. Think of something like Deep Space 5D by Dimension 5 which takes you on an epic space journey vs. space ambient that puts you in space and leaves you floating there. Floating music often changes a lot or not much at all, while epic music changes gradually and more precisely to build up as the journey progresses. Some psychill music takes you on an epic journey such as many Carbon Based Lifeforms tracks (ie. Photosynthesis) while other artists like Shpongle tend to float around a lot. The two are opposites but there is a whole range between them.
  12. I for one prefer epic music. Not overly cheesy stuff, but something that will tell me a good story, whether it be about aliens or Shiva or whatever else. It doesn't need to be extremely epic, especially in the case of ambient music, but it needs to have some sort of direction and climax or I'll get bored and turn it off.
  13. As you probably know, much goa/psy trance is epic music telling a grand story, often about aliens or Shiva. The opposite of epic music is floating music, where the track wanders around and isn't as directed towards a climax. What do you prefer?
  14. Shpongle Wombatmusic Kaya Project Dymons Easily Embarrassed ... and a million other psy chill artists.
