  1. Tracklist: 01. The Source (09:52) 02. Artifact303 - In Your Mind (JaraLuca Remix) (09:49) 03. Energy From The Sun (08:33) 04. Andromeda (2016 mix) (07:40) In 2016 Timewarp Records published few EP's and one that I was really looking forward was the new release by Polish producer Lukasz Zajac who made his debut in 2015 with Perpetuum Mobile album. The style of JaraLuca is quite simple, it's energetic modern Goa trance with a pinch of acid-driven melodies and really great use of basslines. Similar to his debut, this release is natural continuation of his vision of Goa trance, so there is no big difference in terms of style. The Source, an opening track got really great grooves and the remix for Artifact's 303 'In Your Mind' might do the work if you're not a die-hard Artifact303 fan. In conclusion, this release will probably fit the taste of every person who likes modern Goa trance, but not too-melodic, overlayered, but more depending on the groove itself. Don't expect anything revolutionary because it's not trying to be. I need to say that among PsySutra and Artha who are already established Polisha acts, JaraLuca is slowly becoming a third guy from that part of Europe who deserves some attention. 3/5 Stream it on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3UincX7wSc Buy/support it on Bandcamp: http://beatspace-geomagnetic.bandcamp.com/album/jaraluca-the-source-timewarp042
  2. Artist: Various Title: The Mystery of Crystal Worlds Prologue Label: Global Sect Music Date: October, 2015 1. Psy-H Project - Krishna or Maya 2. Morphic Resonance - Outro (Extended Version) 3. Liquid Flow - Event Horizon 4. Celestial Intelligence - Hidden Valley 5. Artifact303 - Delirium (Downward Spiral) Gettin' all hot and bothered over here! Like all loyal goa heads I was transfixed when the latest compilation from Global Sect Music was first announced and promptly pre-ordered 2 copies. Like...zero waiting. The track list alone demanded that I do nothing less. Having already released the delicious Space of Power and debut album Dance of Distant Worlds from dark goa producer Psy-H Project it was a foregone conclusion that their 3-CD compilation was going to be a must have. The previews showcased super sounds with some fantastic artwork as they decided to go all out. Not only can you order the album (only goa trance released that was apparently based on a poem), but they're offering t-shirts, posters, backdrops...the whole 9. I was ready to throw my money at them (and I eventually did), but at the time of this writing we had to wait for it to be released. To tide you over they offer a digital five track taste of what's to come. A prologue if you will. And like the edges of my home made brownies it's f*cking awesome. The aforementioned Psy-H blows the doors off your Renault with a 15 minute bomb of spiritual napalm. Mystic goa trance at the highest state of enlightenment. Morphic Resonance (debut album just released as if you didn't know) combines goa trance with post apocalyptic atmosphere in a downtempo slog. Lush and powerful it's like Frontline Assembly and Downward Spiral NIN joined forces in an unstoppable Voltron of goa trance. Do you, ah even know what a Voltron is? The measured journey continues with Liquid Flow that just has me shaking my head. This is a prologue? Sinister and bubbly. Man this is good. Celestial Intelligence picks up the pace and delivers an entrancing, bouncing track while Artifact303 resurfaces to close out this gift with a storming breakbeat track. This was a free EP when you pre-ordered the Mystery of Crystal Worlds, but unfortunately that ship has sailed. Some might have a problem with forking over 10E for 5 tracks, but the first three tracks are so good that I felt it was worth it. I feel like I'm preaching to the choir here, but you guys probably already have this anyway. Highly recommended! Global Sect Bandcamp
  3. Tracklist: 1. Prana - Solar Plexus (Funky Gong Remix) 2. Prana - Solar Plexus (2016 New Kick Edit Mix) For me personally, Matsuri and Prana have been one of the most important strongholds of Goa trance genre since the early days and it actually makes me very happy to see this label/artist being active again in some way. Solar Plexus is the new 2-track digital release by Matsuri Digital and it features 2 revisited versions of 1994 track. First one is a Funky Gong remix (a member of Joujouka) and it sounds delicious, very dancable and it kept that old vibe in really classy way. The tribal elements and percussions are very enjoyable. The second version is basiclly the same, but with some minor difference. All in all, this release brings short but sweet Prana vibe, but in terms of production very much cleaner and sharper. For sure it's not the best Prana work up to the date, but for the nostalgic value and in case you like Prana music, you should consider getting this one. 4/5 Stream it on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuJcRzPnDeQ Buy/support it on Beatport: http://pro.beatport.com/release/prana-solar-plexus-ep/1737960
  4. Artist: Various Title: Blacklight Moments Label: Suntrip Date: June, 2013 1. Wake Up And Smell The Ashes - Daimon 2. These Talking Machines - K.O.B. 3. Black Sun - Psychic Voyag 4. Viral Breath - Cosmic Dimension 5. Aramean Dreams - Khetzal 6. Emotional Overload - Javi and Sko0ma 7. Beyond Lightspeed (E-Mantra rmx) - Artifact 303 8. Naltayada - Skarma 9. Depth Of Consciousness -Mindsphere 10. Cosmic Fusion - Uth This could not have been any clearer. Ok, I might've ummm...I might've added that last bit. Suntrip, the alpha and omega of goa trance is back at it again with their latest compilation. Blacklight Moments brings well known artists together with a few newbies in an incredible exercise in melodic goa. Surprise surprise. The Mindsphere double album Patience For Heaven was an absolute treat, but this label doesn't seem satisfied with resting on previous successes. These guys give the people what they want. Want some downtempo? BAM! Opus Iridium and the Sweet Sadness of Electrypnose. Need some darkness in your goa? May I introduce you to the Temple of Chaos. I wish my credit card company was this attentive. So is this a worthy addition to the Suntrip library? Really? Wake Up and Smell the Ashes- "Rise and shine, Mister Freeman. Rise and... shine. Not that I... wish to imply you have been sleeping on the job. No one is more deserving of a rest, and all the effort in the world would have gone to waste until... well, let's just say your hour has... come again. The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world. So, wake up, Mister Freeman. Wake up and... *smell the ashes*..." For my money the dark alter-ego of Antares slayed it with his track Codex on Temple of Chaos. End of discussion. Back again with a creepy sample from the Halo game (don't ask me which one I had to look it up. Too busy getting laid) he once again incorporates the randomness of a little darkpsy into his goa trance. While infinitely less powerful than Codex it was still nice and dark with great sequences near the end. Proving once again that this young man who cannot even drink legally in my country has accomplished more than I have in more than twice his years. F*cker. Those Talking Machines- I'm not the biggest fan of this Filteria side project as I prefer his chaotic style more. This is an older track with dark mechanical intentions that more closely resembles tech-trance than goa. It's not very interesting to me, but what it lacks in evolution it makes up for in atmosphere. Not bad, but not great either. Black Sun- We're Psychic Voyag and we leave off the e cause our track is excellent. Why yes it is, chock full of twisting leads and spiraling strands of sunlight with no downtime. Not the deepest track you'll hear, but if this was Jello wrestling, Jannis just got a mouth full of strawberries. Viral Breath- The second newbie in a row must've impressed Mars & Anoebis. Good luck getting the acidic taste out of your mouth with this one. Melodic and powerful it's the sound that makes Suntrip what it is. Aramean Dreams- Responsible for one of the greatest goa trance albums ever in Corelle Matthieu Chamoux is back and it's like he never left. Melodic mysticism floats on electrically charged air as the ground itself pulsates with life. Volume and intensity increase as I try to focus on each new addition. Masterful. He just dropped the mic and left the stage with your girlfriend. Emotional Overload- As I mentioned in another review, these two are the Chang & Eng of goa. Always together. Off topic, but if you have sex with conjoined twins is it really a threesome? Just some of the things I think about. While you're discussing that, they deliver another power player that tumbles over itself with sharp melodies. Constantly evolving, maneuvering as if rocketing through an asteroid belt it leaves the melodies hanging in the air to guide you safely to the other side. Beyond Lightspeed (E-Mantra Remix)- Are these guys fighting? They're remixing each others' tracks in what seems like a goa pissing contest. With all that urine flying around the winners are the ones that don't get peed on. That would be us. E-mantra shows his hypnotic style with levels of melody climbing clouds like I do stairs. Screaming 303 madness with more aggressive knob twisting than gay porn. Ok, too far. The track of course is brilliant. Naltayada- They did it! They f*cking did it! I knew Suntrip would be the ones to get the band back together. After all this time and all the delays, you think this day will never come, but they did it. They managed to get Astral Projection to release some new goa material. What? That's not them? You gotta be kidding me...But it sounds just like...Oooh, this is awkward. You know what? F*ck 'em. Skarma you are now the new Astral. Great job with the sounds and layers of melody, but I'm gonna need 4 classic albums in...let's say 3 years. No pressure. Depth of Consciousness- The titans just keep on coming. After pseudo Astral Ali still has enough in the tank after PFH. It's slower, but deliciously complex. The melodies intertwine like an Indiana Jones snakepit warming the soul and supporting the body. This is so delightfully foreign and ethnic, I could never play this in my town. Might as well open up an Al-Quaeda travel agency. Not good to stir up the rednecks...they tend to get all shootey. Cosmic Fusion- Uth is Alex Lytvyn and his release Distant Instincts was stupendous. He shows his dreamy and downtempo skills with more layers than my sandwich. It's easily the most beautiful track here and a perfect way to end this compilation. I'm glad he got his opportunity with Suntrip to show what he could do. I'm getting tired of saying it (and I'm sure you might be getting tired of hearing it), but the boys from Belgium have done it again. Tracks full of melody and intricacy bring the trance like state to your front door. They've still got the Midas touch. Kudos to the artists who continue to paint the dreamlike tapestry that goa can be and also to Mars for carrying on with all that he's been going through. Another gem in the crown of the kings. Long live the king! Suntrip Psyshop Beatspace GoaStore Mdk
  5. Artist: Skizologic Title: ReMind EP Label: Zion 604 Date: March, 2014 1. Infinity 2. Funky Virus 3. Kali Power 4. Boundless (Skizologic Remix) - Prana 5. MS Blast (2014 Edit) 6. MS Blast (Shakta Remix) 1903. Is this what Europe still uses to deliver the f*cking mail? I realize I have taken up residence in the colonies, but a minimum of two weeks to get a CD? Why not just tie it to a pigeon and throw it in my general direction? One of the many reasons I love Zion 604. Me buy CD me get instant high quality download. And when the stagecoach does finally pull to the front of my house with the CD I don't even have to open it. Zion has ripped it for me. It's like fast food without the guilt or the self hate after I just polished off a double Whopper with large fries and drink. King me! This is Maor Hasbani who compiled a previous Zion 604 release called The Kingdom. It sounds a lot like Braincell if he was infatuated with goa trance. Mastered by Mr. Eat Static Merv Perpler it sounds glorious and punchy with a rich bottom end that doesn't sacrifice the mids or the highs. Crystal clear. The tracks are comprised of strong bass lines you can feel in your chest. The grooves are twisted and the leads are gritty. Melodies? Yeah, but not the twirling, layered type. He doesn't seem interested in carrying you to Nirvana, he wants to throw you there with a catapult. Maybe a cannon is involved, but he brings the power along with squelching 303's on a track like Kali Power. It's chunky and organic with good use of percussive sounds. Very psychedelic. There's even a Shakta remix for lovers of the old school days. Before I rated the tracks I kept listening to it over and over to see if I got tired of it. One drawback may be that it sounds too similar, but with only 6 tracks and the absolute great sound it held up. There were periods where I wasn't that blown away, but then he would launch into some distinctly goa riffs that thrust me back into things. I find it a good mix of goa and psytrance that maintains its psychedelic vibe. On top of it all the digipak comes with a mix he did with Shidapu. At least that's what Bandcamp says, since I haven't had to open my copy. Recommended. Bandcamp Mdk

Sound Preacher - Ambient For 4 "To go out of your mind at least once a day is terribly important because by going out of your mind...you come to your senses." When the price of carrots spikes 200% we all lose. Zion604 is an Israeli/Japanese label started in 2012 by Roy sason, Stephan Spivak and Masafumi Hoshida. In just a short time they have made an indelible mark on the goa trance scene. While Suntrip is the undisputed king of the new breed of goa trance, labels like Zion and DAT Records have sated our appetite for unreleased gems from the greats of the genre. Having released The Kingdom, Flight 604, Scandi90's, and Brainforest Remastered (haven't reviewed that yet) they have now set the bar ridiculously high. Not content on making a quick buck by releasing classics that everyone already has, they focus on keeping the old school spirit vibrant with stuff that is kinda hard to find if not damn near impossible. With Phoenix they deliver a 2-disc journey beginning with the old school and then followed up with artists who are hopes for the future. Double Dragons (Trance Edit)- Nick Barber was the mind behind Doof responsible for the goa trance classic Let's Turn On. The original was a belter of a track, but this takes a different approach. If the attempt is to get you through the nostalgic door or to entrance, then mission accomplished. The growling bass line is an oscillating rumble as synths slowly begin to awaken. It gets in you, hypnotizing with subtle swaying melodies, never moving too quickly. Call it a slow motion knob twiddler with smooth transitions that is substantial without beating you over the head. Great opener. Neurality- Ooh, that old school pop is front and center with excitement that steadily builds. Experiencing a track you've never heard is exhilarating and true to Zion604 form they uncover an off the beaten path gem. The 303 is nimble liquid magic as the mosquito-esque synth buzzes madly about. Very bouncy like a fighter on his toes. Eskimo- This was originally found on an EP from 95 and is an exploratory trip through tribal like percussion, layers of melodies, and vocal manipulation. The lead gets more bold near the end and it's that last quarter where it all comes together. Ka.El.Mono (Alternative Recording Session)- "Crime does not pay." 50 and his football jersey wearing pet tiger don't agree with you. Like power and melody? Miss that wobbly and chunky sound? Need a primal scream in your goa? Welcome to the Deflo experience. Where intensity is the name of the game and loudness is just a state of mind. Interesting to say the least and the only problem I had with it was the quick way it faded. Spiritus (Unreleased mix)- Arguably the greatest track from this project this is an unreleased mix. See...it says so right there. But it doesn't really sound that different from the original. Still love it. Mindwash- I know there are a lot of people that wet their pants when they hear a Psychaos track, but I'm not one of them. Nothing here captured my attention and it sounded like the Psychaos that was over the goa novelty. Mks Dist- Also previously available on an EP this is a great track. Wonder what that title means? Racing melody maybe? This has that awesome oldschool buzz especially in the break. Wasteland- MMM has always been a mixed bag for me. They've made some really good goa tracks in the past, but these days their music follows a different path. And that's where this goes. Rhythmic and tribal with some goa elements. There are enough changes in direction to keep it interesting I suppose. Gizmo- Nick Taylor again and this is by far the craziest and all encompassing track on this compilation. It has a little bit of everything and I do mean EVERYTHING. Loved the breakbeats and the psy/goa undercurrents. Think of a storming jam session or if Psychaos had a black choreographer. Want another comparison? Remember when Paul's Boutique came out from the Beasties and everyone said it was a disappointment only to realize later on how f*cking brilliant it was? Yeah it's like that. Soma (Veda Mix)- "It's your eardrums that are turning vibrations into sound and in that way you are creating the world." Time for some present day goa goodness. Soma from the Latin means body and this is some full bodied stuff. Deep and involving the story unfolds and takes its time. And at 11 minutes it has plenty of time. It is epic listening as this track bares all for everyone to see. Not the most goa of tracks, but so lush it reminds me of those 5 gum commercials. Reminds me of those movies I'm not allowed to watch anymore. Year Zero- With a melody that has the distorted sound of being strangled through a pocket amplifier it's off to the races. Alien bubbling rides shotgun as this becomes quite loud and noisy, but in a full and experimental way. It screeches with the wail of a guitar solo while the kick thumps. On it's face it might be easy to dismiss, but once you accept it's a different take on goa it's easy to appreciate. I Know Hias- Who doesn't love a good breakbeat? I do, I do! The goa lead slinks in from the shadows and it's another example of how detailed goa can be. Subtle at once and then screaming to be heard. I am entranced and want to know Hias also. Endless Circle- "Those thoughts rise and go...like waves of water." I love everything about this track. The sample, the atmosphere, the old school bubble and bite...It's like this guy just stepped out of a DeLorean time machine. And we all know how well that turned out. Not just a stormer, but also rich. Moon Worshiper- I wondered what happened to this guy? Normally known for his downtempo goa he picks up the pace with a wailing echoing quality that is a little eerie. Twisting melodies abound and this one grew on me. Not bad. Hiloola- "From now on you must ask permission for everything you do!" Must be married. I've never heard of this project, but ahhh...the art of discovery. He must've been riding shotgun in that Delorean because this harkens back to the golden days. Bouncy with some techno flair this is delicious. MS Blast- Who the hell are these people? I love the constant wave of goa producers that seem to be cropping up these days. This track is...different. Kinda 2000 minimalistic type goa. Psychedelic? Surely and more along the lines of what was heard on Scandi90's. Not my favorite. ACiDC (Computer Controlled Edit)- A slow groover that likes to lay back in the progressive goa style. It's head nodding fun. Ambient For 4- It's uh...that's not really...Look it says ambient in the title and this monotonous breakbeat doesn't sound very ambient to me. Felt like I wanted to rap over it. What a fantastic ride this was. The sound quality is superb and this label makes me dig deeper than I normally would; accepting tracks that I may not usually reach for. Finding layers and new directions to appreciate is much easier with crystal clear sound. This is like a goa fruit salad with something for even the most jaded goa listener. Hell you can get all that with just the Gizmo track! I cannot stress how spectacular and important this release is. Not perfect, but on the whole it's a terrific effort. Zion604 is quickly earning high marks with the quality of its work. Congratulations gentlemen, you have earned the Batman seal of approval. Bandcamp Mdk
  8. Artist: Various Title: Psychedelique Transition Andromede Label: Trans'pact Productions Date: 1996 1. Martin Cooper - Hallu Practical 2. Phushmataha - Bloomer 3. Asia 2001 - Mara-Djha 4. Ursula Azym - Asiane Tribulations 5. Asia 2001 - Fantasm 6. Asia 2001 - Mara-Djha (Remix) 7. Martin Cooper - Polivoks 8. Martin Cooper - Life Storm 9. Guarana Cupana - Shankra I believe we are all in agreement that the cover is an insult to cover art? Even MS Paint should feel a little slighted. Ok now that that is out of the way we can get on to the much more important subject of the music contained therein. First off as you probably already know this is Gilber Thenevet and his various pseudonyms for the most part. Released in 1996 the sound is unmistakably goa trance with 1996 production. It lacks the oomph that can be found in other releases from the golden goa era. Another thing the tracks are rather thin and linear. Not many twists and turns to be followed and sounds like they were just going through the motions. The remix of Mara Dhja is nice and more to my liking, but that's about it. Not terrible, but I don't have time for not terrible. Or put it another way, this is third string stuff.
  9. Artist: Gangnia Title: It Came From The 4th Dimension Label: Napoli Records Date: 1997 1. Human Evolution 2. Satellite One 3. Delaney's World 4. Cubic People 5. Monological 6. Visuals 7. Wheel Of Words 8. Wide Eyes Open One of the most underrated goa trance albums of all time. Why isn't this consistently put on you're top ten list? Is it because they're Austrian? Hitler was Austrian. Are you saying these guys are like Hitler? Oh...no? Just checking. Holger Buchholtz and Thorstern Jannert are Gangnia an outstanding goa trance project that would later become X.I.S. Their first album is a lesson in dark, hypnotic goa trance. Their palette of sounds isn't the greatest, but it's a great listen all the way though. Until the bizarre, dubby downtempo track that I could do without. Aside from that each track is a pretty storming affair. But don't think you're gonna hop on the net and get it at Amazon, this thing is ultra rare. 1st issue of Superman rare. I'm not one of those guys that would fork over $100 for an album so it's outta my price range. But maybe if you've got some extra lottery winnings or Grandma's birthday dough stashed away you could get it off Discogs. Mdk

  11. Artist: Various (though it's really Filipe Santos and Christina which I believe to be his wife) Title: Amaterasu Label: Submoon Records Date: May, 2015 1. Gankyil - Temujin 2. Amen Re - Resyche 3. Jonni Dongju - Li-on Sahvanne 4. Shousan - Shousan 5. Tanzaku - Tanabata 6. Mana Source - Samurai 7. Uchiwa - Godai 8. Gankyil - Dhyani C'mon, are these even real people? Jonni Dongju? Someone was balls deep in some quality porn viewing. You know at this point I couldn't care less. Unless you've lived under a rock Submoon Records is the new baby of Filipe Santos and these tracks sit squarely in his wheelhouse. Big beats with layers of goa melody trickling over each other vying for attention. And damnit I love it. It's excellent. Standout moment? On Li-On Savanne where he's channeling his inner Bypass Unit and that bubbling 303 creates a magical feeling. Almost reached for a cigarette. People are going to be in two camps when it comes to Filipe and his endless projects. Either they hate him and won't give his music the time of day due to past...ugliness or they'll take the music at face value and have a great f*cking time. I chose the latter (probably because he has never directed his rage in my direction). His talent cannot be questioned when it comes to making goa trance. This "compilation" is full of fast paced energetic goa trance. Melodies swirl and force the listener into involuntary twirling. There's no suspense or build up. He knows one way and one way only here and he attempts to cram it down your throat. And by God you will reach Goa Nirvana! There is a lot of drama surrounding Mr. Santos, but that is not my concern. If you hate the guy then you probably aren't reading this anyway. My job as a reviewer is to listen to the music and give my opinion. It's up to the reader whether they want to fork over their hard earned cash for these tunes. Musically this is an excellent addition any goa collection. Yes it's a CD-r, but so was Goa Gate and have you seen how much people wanted to shake you down for that? Not gonna be me son. Submoon Bandcamp
  12. A few years ago Gilbert Thevenet from Asia 2001 has uploaded on itracks.biz a couple of albums and various tracks, parallel to his 'Sound Addiction 1&2' albums which were terrible to listen, there was another album from some project called 'Atomick Circus", it was a full digital album with normal trance sound, the album itself wasn't so terrific but one track has really interested my attention. I bought it via the websait to support him, since then the website is down and it's gone from the radar. I lost the original file but luckly I uploaded it on mixcloud. The track has great atmosphere and melody, some sounds are very similar to Asia's 2001 world, the sound is fresh so he probably produced it in recent years. Would love to share it with you and to hear your opinion about this one. https://www.mixcloud.com/Microdelic/evatomick/ Enjoy.
  13. Somewhere in the middle of the trance ocean lies a lost island, where the grooves that don't fit in anywhere else can be found. On this island, strange percussion-loving creatures frolic to a sound that can be heard from the rocky beaches to the deepest jungle. All attempts to locate it on a map have been stymied by its neither-here-nor-there-ness, and the travellers that have returned from its shores tell wildly implausible tales. Some tell of a nostalgic Goan feeling in the air; others of a psychedelia that recalls the eclectic spirit of the late 90s, when experimentation and rule breaking was the norm. To be sure, the story always has a beginning, middle, and end; but its meaning will be different for each person who hears it. Such is the effect of a stay on the Island of Misfit Grooves... Shipping starts on February 29th >> http://neogoarecords.bandcamp.com/album/impossible-astronaut Nikola Petrović (Imba) has been known to many people as a guy who promoted Goa trance music with his netlabel UAF Records and who gave a huge contribution to Neogoa Records on many compilations and joint project such as Future Architecture. He is also a member of Goa trance groups such as Space Elves, Stellar Force, Stellarians, but lately he has been known simply as Imba, a productive Goa trance producer who made an appereance on many different labels and who did a lot of interesting collaborations with other musicians. Now, the time has finally come for his debut, stand-alone release on Neogoa Records. Impossible Astronaut is a collection of his finest works, but with new refined sound and mix, with a lot more power and energy with interesting acidic melodies typical for his music. 15. Artist: Nervasystem Title: Early Daze Label: Self Released Date: March, 2013 1. Matter Transfer 2. Zones 3. Terraform 4. Liquid Lifeform 5. Initiation 6. Kinetic Space Dilation 7. Venusian Illusion 8. Decoder 9. Stardust "Seen from out here...everything seems different." There he is! I found fat Waldo! Unless you've been held captive in a Yemeni prison for the last few years you heard and hopefully purchased Mark Dressler's return to the scene Time Travel. Awesome album that is so highly recommended that it was with renewed interest I decided to check out his Early Daze. It's a digital only release comprised of tracks he released back in the day on labels like Matsui, Psychic Deli, and Phantasm before that label descended into a meteoric pile of sh*t. Now if you were to peek at my early days I'm sure it is filled with moments that are not ready for prime time. Yeah I had a bowl cut. And I had feathered hair as a teenager. Gimme a break it was the 80's. Some f*cked up sh*t went on back then. Anyway all the tracks here were released on compilations or his own EP's so slow your roll we didn't discover any hidden gold. Well, I'd never heard Kinetic Space Dilation before and I don't believe that one was released anywhere. I haven't heard his latest stuff (3 or 4) so I cannot compare this album to those. But I have heard and loved Time Travel. And this isn't that far off from Time Travel. I think this release is for Mark's fans (I am one) and those who want to support the artist. As I mentioned almost all have been released on his ep's and comps which I'm certain you freaks already have. The sound is unmistakably goa with screeching leads and bubbly sounds (Terraform, Liquid Lifeform) attaining high levels of psychedelia. Initiation rages with whiplashes of fire and Decoder has that post golden era goa sound laced with psychedelic sounds. If there are any weak moments perhaps you could include the overly long and steady Zones, but most of the tracks bring psychedelic goa right up front. Nice one. Nervasystem Bandcamp

  19. Artist: Nostromosis Title: Battle Times Label: Timewarp Records Date: April, 2015 1) The Gods Descended From Heaven 2) VlaMen 3) Kali-Yuga 4) Nuclear Apocalypse 5) Space Tribe Of Siberia 6) Revival 7) Voyager 8) JeVo Ugh. That cover. I realize the artist chooses their cover, but perhaps some stronger nudging in a different direction was in order? So conflicted on this one. I see boobs so I already want to like it. The fact that she's blue is irrelevant because we as a people should celebrate our differences, but mostly she's got tits. If making it with an alien of a different color is good enough for William Shatner it's good enough for me. Sure the multiple appendages seems intimidating, but think of what she could do with those multiple appendages. Only when you look closely do you realize she may just as easily dismember and eat you as soon as mate with you. Well, damn...now my penis is afraid and I don't know what to think. Nostromosis is Russian Igor Sidorov and I haven't been impressed with any of his previous work. Sorry. It happens. I know it makes me unAmerican, but I feel the same way about Bob Dylan and Springsteen. Never liked them. Thing is his tracks aren't bad per se, but they leave me unfulfilled. He's the Chinese food of goa trance. Whether it's his sound choice, consistently galloping bass line, or affinity for key changes his music sounds like it's a level below the really great artists. Having said that this is his best work to date in my opinion. He still embraces the key change thing unfortunately, but the sound is layered well and expertly produced. It's goa through and through with a trancey vibe. Which is in direct contrast to that threatening cover. Right now there are hundreds of darkpsy artists crumbling up artwork and having to begin anew. And speaking of that, this music is threatening the same way suburban white kids are gangsters. It's hard to be mean mugging and violent when you have yearbook after school. Revival has an edge to it building tension right from the outset, but even tat track can't maintain it's stance and loses steam. For me the music is too soft and lacks punch. Nuclear Apocalypse sounds less like the brink of armageddon and more like a pillow fight. Not bad and the potential is there, but right now I feel he's got a ways to go. Beatspace Psyshop Download
  20. Artist: JIS (Journey Into Sound) Title: Transdimensional Vision EP Label: Neogoa Date: October, 2015 1. Up There 2. Solar Wind 3. Transdimensional Vision 4. Final Harmony "My God...it's full of stars!" Actually that's a concussion...in A minor I think. JIS is Czellar Gabor an underrated goa producer from the imaginary land of Hungary. Did you catch his debut album Illusions of Reality? If the answer to that question is no then you have some catching up to do. Here, let me help you. I compared his sound to Blue Planet Corporation and I stand by that. He crafts that light melodic goa trance which captivates with its depth. Thanks to the kind folks at Neogoa he presents an EP to continue this trend. Drifting melodies with an undercurrent of liquid goa are on full display as sounds ping off the hull of the spacecraft. His tracks have seamless transitions as old melodies melt into new ones with an atmosphere that is fully cosmic. Trancey, light goa that shouldn't fail to please. Good stuff! Free at Ektoplazm
  21. Artist: Kunai Title: Ascendancy Label: Submoon Records Date: August, 2015 1. Himalayas 2. Mandarin 3. Origami 4. Mahjong 5. Ascendancy 6. Wushu 7. Tranquility Another Filipe Santos project? You betcha! I've lost count of how many he has, but this is his first release under the name of Kunai. And he does something that I hoped he would and that is deliver a different style of goa. This CD-r has tracks that exhibit a more laid back feel. Pumping up tempo, yet not aggressive. The sound is good and instead of pounding you into submission it's a gentler "lengthening" of melodies that still retains that sense of depth and exotic atmosphere. Not a lot of changes and not a lot of melodies thrown into the mix, but a gradual unfolding. The difference in the style here is instantly appreciated and while I love his signature sound he navigates this other approach with skill. Recommended for those that would like their goa with a relaxed flair. Love that cover btw...

  24. Artist: Alpha Circuit Title: Module-Z Label: Alpha Productions Date: November, 2006 1. Syntetich Morph 2. End of the beginning 3. Histericial Added 4. Lunar Circle 5. Generation 6. Module Z 7. Stratostar 8. Mysterious Fiend 9. Hypersonic Yep, that's me missing the boat on this one. As I'm attempting to free up space on the external drives, I am in the process of going through music that I know longer listen to. So I come across this and wonder why it flew under my radar. Oh, I know, it sounds like sh*t. But I'm getting ahead of myself. This is Luca Galli from Italy who apparently began his career in the early 90's with Etnica only to leave that group to follow his own pursuits. Holy sh*t that chick just blasted a dook in the hot tub! Ok, so I'm sure Luca didn't have it that bad. Poor chick...just think of the nicknames. She should just move. To another country. Still, leaving Etnica before they blew up would be like telling a bunch of mop headed Englishmen that the Beatles is a stupid name and you're gonna give this disco thing a try. So he leaves Etnica in the early 90's for whatever reason and releases his debut. In 2006. Here is what part of the Psyshop promo says: All tracks are released following the partiture and notation made with a keybord, are different works to montage sourcing the sample or loop to be not constructed. What the f*ck does that mean? Besides misspelling keyboard whoever wrote this just pissed all over English grammar. I'm guessing it was written way back when and he decided to cobble together what he could and put out an album. And it isn't bad. Some of the tracks like Stratostar, Generation, and Histerical Added have impressive melodies that seem to float across the clouds like a bubble that won't break. Very old-school. At other times it sounds quite minimal and raw, and even with that one can draw parallels with the Etnica style. There are portions where the track rolls along quite innocuously and then BAM! You have a searing and very moving melody. So on the surface of things I'm thinking this is quite the gem. But the problem is it sounds like sh*t. I'm not one to complain about mastering, but I know when something ain't right in sound town. Maybe the source was poor or degraded and just didn't transition well. I don't know. But it's unlistenable at high volume. Just breaks up. This would be a project for DAT Records, they seem to be good at rescuing old stuff and giving it a fresh shine. So while some of the tracks are very impressive, the quality of the audio is poor, and I can't recommend this. Especially not the almost 14 bucks Psyshop wants for it. Psyshop Mdk
  25. Artist: Radical Distortion Title: Back In Time Label: Eutuchia Music Date: April, 2013 1. Promise of a Better World 2. Magic Carpet Remix - Gene Joke 3. Dark Energy 4. Relentless Galaxy 5. Solar Storm 6. Celestial Traveler 7. Voltage Source 8. Back In Time 9. Dreamer (2007 Original Mix) 10. India (2003 Original Mix) Ever wish you could go back in time and have a do-over? Maybe ask that girl out that you didn't years ago because you were too chicken. Maybe place a few bets on a Super Bowl. Or possibly take something back. Something you shouldn't have done. Ha! Imba you thought nobody was watching you in Spain, but we got you on tape mother f*cker! Eutuchia Music presents it's very first CD (been digital up till now) from Radical Distortion. This is the fourth album from the Greek duo Nick Polytaridis and...no way. What a dreamboat! I knew he played a musician on Full House, but didn't think he... That's not the same guy? Are you sure? *frowns* Well...they should hire him to stand behind the decks to twist a few knobs. Think of the hot chick spillover! These guys have always struck me as the Rodney Dangerfield of goa. Even though they've been around for a long time they're not the first names you think of when you rattle off the best in new school goa trance. No respect. Maybe it's cause it's a crowded field or maybe it's because they half assed it on Regenesis. People still talk about what could've been on that album and seem to have long memories. Well from my perspective they've been making amends ever since. And quite well I might add. Having released Psychedelic Dreams on Suntrip in 2009 (that's like 28 in goa years) they've also produced quality tunes for a bunch of compilations. Even the Suncokreti one with the sh*tty mastering where they gave away the track cause it was unrecognizable to their ears. All in the past. Now with their latest out on Eutuchia (didn't see that coming) we can finally slay the Regenesis dragon. In my opinion this is the best work they've ever done. Yeah, I said it. First of all these guys use a lot of analog hardware so expect that warm old school sound. And this is straight out of the past with ripping goa leads and entrancing melodies. Their remix of Magic Carpet is on absolute fire bringing relentless goa heat. But the whole album is full of tracks like that. Dark Energy twists and turns with melodic spirals in ever widening circles. Celestial Traveler is another stormer with a dark edge and lots of 303 pop. They also include two older unreleased tracks (the 2007 remix of Dreamer and the odd 2003 remix of India). I tell you this is old school goa trance to the bone. At times it sounds like Transwave. Other times like MFG. They do the Indian melodies as well as the outer space stuff. All the tracks sound great so hats off to Nikos who did the mastering. So yeah, they took a step back in time and brought back some freshness. Congratulations gentlemen this is some fine work. Highly recommended. Bandcamp Get a digital copy for just 4.50 Euro! What a bargain! Mdk
