  2. Artist: Various (It's Filipe) Title: Oriental Accidentalists Label: Sumboon Records Date: August, 2015 1. Chynacid - Tianlong 2. The Lost Buddha - Astral Projection 3. The Lost Buddha - Spiritual Justice 4. Mana Source - Karmaggedon 5. Mana Source - Moon Minerium 6. Realm 9 - Mercury 7. Space Sinbad - Heart of Kali 8. Space Sinbad - Eyes of Osiris 9. The Lost Buddha - Ice of Ancients 10. Ketoret - Conceived 11. Gankyil - Nyorai DAMN!!!!! I'm more convinced than ever that you are less a human being and actually a bot that produces kick ass goa trance at pre-determined intervals. It's one thing to be prolific (that you are Filipe), but to maintain this level of quality is just unheard of. Track after track of just blistering goa trance. If I had to hunt for a negative it would be that your tracks follow the same pattern and can sound very similar. You don't tell stories you decimate dance floors. And make goa trancers like me fall down from excessive twirling. But when the music is this good, you just pick yourself up, dust yourself off and keep going. The style is typical aggressive and growly goa trance and picking a favorite is like choosing which color M&M is better. They are all top notch stuff. Now for the consumer your should know that some of these beauties have been released before. Tianlong on the Tofu EP, Missionary on the Missionary and Conceived EP, and the Lost Buddha and Mana Source tracks also have digital EPs. Now as he is prone to do, Filipe opens a label and closes it sometimes pretty quickly. Only to start a whole new one. Submoon Records offered this as a CD-r, but as of this typing Submoon Records is no more. He's moved on to Good Dance Recordings, but I cannot find this or any of his earlier releases on that label. So I don't know where you would get this today. But this is how you do it. Let the music do all the talking. And this album is saying volumes.
  3. Artist: Various Title: Psychic Orgasm Vol. 1 - Psychedelic Trance Mission Label: Music Mine Inc. Date: April, 1998 1. K.U.R.O - Vision of Mars (Core Mix) 2. Psychaos - Future Rocks 3. Human Blue - Stone Henge 4. Darshan - Mind Merge 5. Elysium - Illusive World 6. Orion - Rooster 7. Ololiuqui - Chitty Bang 8. Talamasca - Tribal Journey 9. The Pollinator - Clone III Just an fyi...that's uh, not included with disc purchase. Sometimes at 4 am you just need some old school goa trance. And this is a solid bit of that. All the tracks are that very good, churning goa. No over the top melodies or spectacular tracks that cast a large shadow over just good ones. Just solid, pumping music. The track names are a little f*cked up, but Discogs will set you straight. Psychaos totally wrecks sh*t with Future Rocks while Stone Henge from Human Blue has that deep throated goa growl. Mind Merge is a high tempo bit of class and Illusive World is a mid-tempo stomper. Psychedelic? Surely. Orgasmic? Might be a stretch. But unless you lost both of your hands in a freak typing accident you can take care of that all by yourself, right? Highly recommended.
  4. Live set played at Solar United Natives on 20.07.2016 Loads of reworked/refined version of tracks for album, some exclusive material in there, enjoy!
  5. Artist: Sky Technology Title: In Search of Ancient Knowledge Label: Sita Records Date: June, 2015 1. Proto-Knowledge 2. Babat Sink 3. Crazy Machines 4. Sands of the Desert 5. Who Are We? 6. Aural Planet 7. Broken Music Box 8. Magnetic Force 9. Göbekli Tepe 10. Babat Sink (Bonus Version) Damn son. This is hot fire! Sky Technology is Dmitriy Kolosovskiy from Kiev, Ukraine and his debut album is something to behold. His style can get quite chaotic and for me he has been very consistent with the quality of his tracks. This album is very layered and packs quite the punch combining juicy undertones with growling melodies. The leads explode and perform aerobatic maneuvers with a slight nod towards nitzhogoa. And what do you expect it was released on Sita Records. That said if you're a collector of cheese look elsewhere cause you won't find any of it here. Warm sounds yet it feels as if it came from the deepest recesses of space. The only complaint I have is that the 10 tracks are in a similar vein so listening in one go may be too much for some to handle. To which I say sac up and fly right. On the other hand this will put you into that state of trance with some excellent sound quality. Dmitriy...hi-five man. I bought the sh*t out of it. Sita Records Bandcamp - 9 pounds for a digital album? Are you outta your f*cking mind? Psyshop Beatspace
  6. Artist: E-Mantra Title: Signals EP Label: Melusine Records Date: March, 2016 1. Moon Horns (Re-Edit) 2. Ectoplasm (Re-Edit) 3. Liquid Frequencies (Re-Edit) If you follow goa trance, you know who Emmanuel Carpus is. E-Mantra has been king of the goa trance mountain for a long time. Rumor has it that he is ready to abdicate the throne and move on to other projects. Sad as that may be he has left quite the legacy behind him. From goa trance to downtempo music his sound is unmistakable. Originally released in 2008, he has splashed a new coat of paint on these beauties. The promo actually says, "crafted in a new vision." Don't know if that means new melodies or mastering, but what I can tell you is that the result is distinctly him. The music is floating stairs of melody as they gently carry you to a blissful place. Long and drawn out which submerges the listener into a deeper state of trance. The tracks are the same with the exception of the final one, Liquid Frequencies. Well worth putting into your E-mantra collection. Melusine Bandcamp
  7. Artist: New Born Title: Nothing But A Title Label: Cronomi Records Date: September, 2015 Disc One 1. Circus Is Open 2. Omen 3. Universal Bus 4. A Sleeper's Guide 5. Playing Games 6. Something With Stuff 7. Sun Worshipper 8. Far From Home 9. Going Somewhere Else 10. Nothing But A Title Disc Two 1. For It's Own Sake 2. Ineffaceable Moments 3. Birds Of Imagination 4. Fish 5. Staring Into The Abyss 6. Touch Nothing 7. Healing Process (Last Of The Star Makers) 8. Gentle Perfection 9. The New World 10. These Yellow Eyes 11. Ancient Piano Melody "I'm gonna do the best I can do and that's gonna have to be good enough for all of you!" Girl you look stressed. I can relate. That's how I feel about reviewing 2 CD albums. On the one hand I'm excited like a kid on Christmas cause the possibility of aural gems doubles with another disc. But...the other hand is a slap in the face cause you gotta find time to digest two discs worth of material. People are depending on me out there, I can't half ass it. So I'm always slow on the double albums. Do you know I have yet....have yet to listen (not review) just listen to Mind Rewind 1 or 2? Can you believe that sh*t? Just sitting in a drawer. Pleaidians? Please, get in f*cking line. So Cronomi is a label that doesn't put out a lot of stuff, but the music they do release is usually pretty good. M-Run, Portamento, and the Erta Ale compilation are wonderful and that's the kind of stuff I expect from them now. No going back, when you set the bar high you don't try and run under it. So their latest is a 2-CD album from obscure producer New Born (Tom Rarin) who has made a few compilation appearances as well as a couple EP's. Not exactly a big footprint so this release is either ambitious or he had a lot of pent up music that needed to get out there. Either way I've spent the entire day listening to this. And I mean entire. Circus Is Open- Who doesn't love the circus? Peta. Peta doesn't love the circus, buncha vegan, tree huggin, humus nazis! Actually my four year old was kinda freaked out when we took him. Elephants and sh*t. This is a nice, bouncy opener in a kind of Principles of Flight does goa. Omen- This felt longer than it was. But not in a Tuesday at the office will lunch ever get here kinda way. Goa trance that was very exploratory in nature with frequent changes Not bad. Universal Bus- The first of a few blistering goa tracks. Eleven and a half minutes of pure power music. I'll get on this f*cking bus. A Sleeper's Guide- Psytrance with a nice guitar crunch until the last bit where it becomes a rollicking good goa track. Made me double take in a good way, like when you see hot teacher. Makes you smile. Playing Games- is most certainly not playing games and is the second scorcher on this album. This guy seems to know what he's doing. He's got a good command of the ebb and flow of a track. Something With Stuff- He keeps it old school with that screeching lead and it is a nimble little thing! It's a constant pumping sound that takes no breaks. Great stuff! Sun Worshipper- Yeah I'll be rocking this one for a while. A long while. Blistering track number three that just piles on. Far From Home- He goes darker with that rumbling bass line and a little less bombastic. I sense a shift. The extended break promises a brighter day. Going Somewhere Else- Yep we're a little happier now as he drew back the curtains and let some light into this dungeon you call an apartment. Geez, would it kill you to use a little Febreeze every now and then? Another track that resides just on the edge of f*ck you up. Nothing But A Title- Last track of this impressive fist disc is a slinky bit of nastiness. Mid tempo and very atmospheric. Pretty pleased with that. Now on to the 2nd disc... For It's Own Sake- Another intro that's nods slightly towards that POF sound. Ineffaceable Moments- I don't think that's a word. This track sounds like a continuation of the intro with its eerie standoffishness. Like wandering through an old, unfamiliar castle. Not goa per se, but more minimal. Birds of Imagination- Still eerie, but he returned to his goa ways. It's not as lush or powerful as the goodies from the first disc yet it's not bad. Fish- Why are they naked? And where the hell are their fingers and opposable thumb? I love fish. They're delicious! And this track is another good one that would seem more at home on the first disc. Staring Into The Abyss- Ambient Interlude. Very science fiction-y Touch Nothing- Annnnnnd we're back to the filler psytrance stuff. Healing Process (Last of the Star Makers)- Mild goa trance with some Space Tribe acid washes. Gentle Perfection- There ain't nothing gentle about this bruising monster! It's another that escaped from the first disc and rolls over you in waves. The New World- Pretty good goa. Wasn't crazy about the main lead though. These Yellow Eyes- Creeping me out dude. No, no, you just...ah, you just stay over there. I'm good. Another good goa track that has a gentle beginning before it starts erupting. Ancient Piano Melody- and the outro continues its creepiness. It sounds as if it should be a happy, ambient melody, but something about it...makes me feel as if it is a ruse. First off let me say that this is not a melodic, door busting, bomb where each track attempts to outdo the previous one. So get your expectations right. There are numerous tracks here that will rock you, and that soar with the best of them, but he takes goa trance in a lot of directions. The promo says to approach this with an open mind and that's good advice. In our world of instant gratification this may be difficult for some to swallow. Find the patience and give it the time it deserves and the rewards will be handsome. Second, the music is complex with melodies intertwining and new ideas springing forth within the tracks. The transitions are smooth and interesting and take the road less traveled when it comes to the current sound of today's goa trance. I like the first disc better, but that's just me. The second one seemed less...accessible let me say. It's softer almost a goa trance lite yet still with that sense of wariness. Notwithstanding this should be in your collection. Good job Tom and keep on doing what you do Cronomi. Cronomi Bandcamp
  8. Artist: Various Title: Celestial Transvibration Label: Neogoa Date: October, 2014 1. Protorai - Midst Aetheric Halls 2. Ankrosado - Thing 3. Neuropa - Meganeura 4. What Lies Beneath - Ritual Algorythm (Early Spring Remix) 5. Proxeeus - Mission Atlantis (Alien Voices Mix) 6. Veasna - Quantum Connundrum 7. Arronax - Wings of Laniakea 8. PharaOm - Mighty Sun Sometimes you have to expand your horizons. Try new things and break out of your comfort zone. "C'mon Jimmy...just try a backflip." *flinches* Ooh...nobody saw that. "I've never ridden a motorbike before. So just, twist the accelerator and I'll go? Wow, that's easy!" FFFF*****CCCCCCKKKKKK!!!! Point is trying new things is usually a good thing. Neogoa is the penultimate netlabel when it comes to goa trance. Their releases are consistently great with a track record that a for profit label would envy. When Ivan hooked me up with this a few days ago I asked him what was the idea or the theme behind this compilation. He told me that he wanted to showcase new artists and for this compilation to go in a darker or more experimental direction. Well mission accomplished brother! Yep! Well, except that...the mission here was actually you know...accomplished. This compilation is the definition of a pot luck. Minus grandma's runny potato salad. The first three tracks are of the experimental variety with a sound akin to Slinky Wizard, Psychaos or COP. Shout out to psynewser Paul Eye representing on Meganeura. None of the tracks are mind blowing, but they are interesting and they avoid the all to frequent current goa stereotypes. Then you come to the longest track ever released by Neogoa in Ritual Algorythm. Made by another psynews regular ritual_Om this 20 minute effort is a storytelling journey. Not in the melodic goa sense, but in the exploratory mold. Again, interesting to say the least. And that is the turning point because the final four tracks are what you would expect from Neogoa. Melodic, goa stormers with newcomer Proxeeus kicking the door in saying, "Here I am...love me." Great f*cking track. The last track by former goa stalwart PharaOm was a downtempo goa track that sounded awesomely sinister. If that was the last goa track you made homie, you went out with a bang. So kudos to Neogoa for showcasing newer artists and sending goa trance in another direction. Neogoa is more than just a netlabel they also seem to find lots of up and coming talent that go on to future success. Maybe it'll stick, maybe it won't, but creativity is the mother of invention. Or some sh*t like that. Mdk

  11. Artist: Various Title: Psychedelic Electronica (Psychic Deli Volume II) Label: Psychic Deli Date: 1998 1. Messiah - Ghost 2. Resonance - New World 3. Lumen - Out of Memory Too 4. Ectomorph - Trilobite 5. ECT - Catapult 6. Battle of the Future Buddhas / Fripic Bounce - A Handful of Tricks 7. Aether - Sentient 8. Nevasystem & Aether - Kinetik Space Dilation 9. Lunar Asylum - Twister 10. Bonky - 10 Percent "These are the seeds which will sow the destruction of the human race." Believe me. Sometimes I like to tackle a fairly unknown compilation. If it turns out to be good it's like hooking up with a friend that you never thought of in that way. If it's bad nobody has to say nothing and life goes on. This album has a doppleganger. Psychic Deli seems to have made an album in 1999 with the same name, but different tracklist. Weird. So what you get is a mixture of psy and goa from a bunch of the lesser known artists of the goa age. All of the tracks are psychedelic with strange noises and the goa avoids the melodic tour de force which defined the golden age. Trilobite has loads of juicy sounds and I loved the break in Kinetik Space Dilation. The Buddhas don't disappoint with their brand of swampy psychedelic goa trance and Ghost is quite the journey. I wouldn't say any of these tracks are spectacular, but the compilation is a safe bet when you want lesser known psychedelic goa trance.
  12. Artist: Various Title: The First Pulse Label: Pulsewave Records Date: 1996 1. Dormant - Auspex (Intro) 2. ARTificial - Origin of Species 3. Asiodiziac - Skinn 4. Mnemosyne - Six Feet Over 5. File Operation Error - Manhunt 6. Clockforest - Systems On 7. Subconscious Aurists - Astral Interference 8. The Signus - Robot Zone 9. Juicehead - Anything Is Everything 10. Clockforest - Sun Mark 11. File Operation Error - The End 12. ARTificial - Lunimous Lullabye (Outro) Keep your distance ladies. I know what you're thinking. "Jesus tap dancing Christ this guy will review a f*cking ham sandwich." And to that I would say if I had the time. But back on task... With the exception of Mississippi and Alabama everyone knows that this is a dated look. The only thing missing is a member's only jacket and a pair or acid washed jeans. And that's what this compilation is like. I don't know where I got it, but I think it was a throw in when I bought some stuff off Discogs. Two decades old and man it sounds like it. Think of a smorgasbord of electronic music that will bring you back to the early days. I put it here because it has some goa sounding tracks in it. Origin of Species comes to mind and it wouldn't have been bad, but those crash cymbals! A lot of the tracks just sound like dated 90's techno and electro. Complete with rave sounds and orchestra hits. Throw in a little dream trance and gabber and it's really the total package of no thank you. Perhaps this will make you feel nostalgic. Not me though. Just made me want to delete it.
  13. Artist: Various Title: Nataraja Label: POF Music Date: 1995 1. Joking Sphinx - Cralacoffo 2. Blue Planet Corporation - Antidote 3. Danshi-Denshi - Tikitatum 4. Man of the Last 3rd- No Name 5. Prana - Mugen 6. Synchro - Colourblind Shellfish 7. Amanite FX - The Secret of Mana 8. Magnetic Pulstar - Pulse (Man of the Last 3rd Mix) 9. Emmanuel Top - Tri Cid Ladies and gentlemen here we have proof that not everything goa trance related from 1995 was worth a sh*t. Antidote is the obvious star here, but all the people reading this already have that track. So what else? I suppose a wink and a nod towards Tikitatum and the Secret of Mana are warranted, but after that it's slim pickings. The majority of this compilation seemed offended that I was awake. Since I'm shelling out honorable mentions, one has to go to Emmanuel Top for making one of the most boring tracks I've heard in quite some time. Kudos sir. The only way this would be worth saving is if the edges of the disc were super sharp. And you were a ninja who left his throwing stars at a Starbucks waiting for your Venti Iced Skinny Hazelnut Macchiato, Sugar-Free Syrup, Extra Shot, Light Ice, No Whip. I have no idea what that gibberish means. I found it on the interwebz. Mdk

  15. Artist: Omegahertz Title: Deca Label: Dimensional Records Release date: 26.11.2013 Tracklist: Golden Ratio Ether Smell Of Wet Earth The End Of Time Compact Star Deca Girl Of The Sun Puranas Space Conquest Total runtime: 1h10m I made a thread where I asked for recommendations of good post-2010 melodic goa albums and a fellow psynewser @Kitrinos recommended this album. I went on discogs, gave it a look and honestly I didnt take it too seriously because of the cover art. Fractals in the colour of rainbows I mean come on. A month has passed since then and I decided to listen to it. You all know the saying that people spam all the time "Dont judge a book by its covers", right? Yeah well, this is just that and boy do I regret not giving this a listen sooner. Thats what you get for being a shallow S.O.B.! Who is Omegahertz? I have literally never heard of the guy before I was recommended this album. Omegahertz is a project by Dimitrios Pouranis from Athens, Greece started in 2004, according to Discogs. This has everything I needed. It is melodic, intense, acidic and very psychedelic. I will leave the technical details for more experienced psy-trancers. Personally, I am in love with this! It is one of the best melodic albums I've heard and I hope that this review will draw some deserved attention to it! I fullheartedly recommend this to every psy-trancer! My favorite track is "Golden Ratio" Grade: A- (minus because of the cover art and the melodies sound a bit too familiar sometimes, but overall it does everything it does very well and makes for an amazing journey) http://www.dimensionalrecords.com/cd-releases/303-omegahertz-deca.html
  16. Hello everyone, it is with great pleasure that I can finally announce the tracklist for VA - Analog Trips. I am sorry it took so long but, we wanted to be 100% sure about all tracks, since we ran into sound troubles and we couldn't find a perfect rip for one of the tracks. I am positive you will all be thrilled about this release as we were creating it, me and Mark aka DJ Solitare. It's the second of a series of three, that has as a theme the Analog sounds/vibrations and from Dreams we shifted towards Trips this time, denoting the music here is quite trippy in itself. All the tracks have been tested and carefully selected by yours truly together with Mark and we are sure you'd like the diversity but also the consistency and the quality of the music contained. With no further delays, here is the front cover and below, the tracklist: Tracklist: 1 Medicine Drum - Angelic Force W&P By Andy Guthrie, Chris Deckker 2 Elysium & Yaco Vam - Tears In The Rain W&P By Kristian Thinning Andersen & Yacco Vijn 3 Gus BUS Till - That Sounds Swell! W&P By Gus Till 4 Earglobe - Spherelobe W&P By Simon Posford, Nick Barber 5 Excess Head - Expo W&P By Graham Wood 6 Opale - Krakoa W&P By Greg Bailay 7 Green Nuns Of The Revolution - Lost & Found W&P By Dick Trevor, Matt Coldrick & Andy Smith 8 Etnica - Human Geometry W&P By Andrea Rizzo, Carlo Paternò, Maurizio Begotti, Max Lanfranconi 9 Doof - Giving Godhead W&P By Nick Barber Hopefully released sometimes in June, as soon as it is pressed and delivered to the distributor, i will know an exact release date. The release will have a wonderful 8 page booklet with histories about the tracks and how we found them, all nicely packaged as usual. The graphic came out real nice and we wanted to dare a bit , with a lovely model that allowed us to use her portrait for this angelic compilation. Cheers!! Draeke
  17. Artist: Various Title: Graham Label: Equinox Date: March, 1997 1. The Infinity Project - Intro 2. Mystery of the Yeti - Part 4 3. Woodski - Woodski 4. Excess Head - Hopscotch 5. The Infinity Project - Noises From The Darkness (Dub) 6. Excess Head - Strange Thing 7. The Infinity Project - Mystical Experiences 8. Excess Head - Subcurrents 9. The Flippidy Dippidy Project - The Outro "You're going to be able to meet these people, talk to them." Graham Wood (half of The Infinity Project) brought his TIP buddies together to make a very odd album. It's downtempo and ambient with a goa flair. Graham is featured on every track under various aliases. My favorite was Part 4 by Mystery of the Yeti as it was the most musically interesting and complex. Some weird sh*t going on here though. How high did you have to be to make Woodski? Hopscotch? Noises From the Darkness? When those three tracks ended did the stock price of Doritos tumble? The whole middle of this album is lost in a green haze of cannabis smoke. Very trippy. Strange Thing still sounds like I'm caught in a hippies disjointed dream, but at least I can follow it. Mystical Experiences is a great slice of ambient found on the Infinity Project album of the same name. Full of sounds that continue with the floating. Sub Currents churns with juicy bass for almost its entire length. Even the outro aims to conjure and shape your hallucinations. If you're searching for that album that you can zone out to look no further. Set hallucinogens to maximum wood. Mdk
  18. Artist: Trinodia Title: Astral Clouds Label: Ovnimoon Records Date: December, 2013 1. Astral Clouds 2. Enlightened Moon - Trinodia Vs. Judaika 3. Qind Mind 4. Alien Language - Trinodia Vs. Judaika 5. A11 (2013 Mix) 6. Out of orbit 7. Rusty Rites 8. Moon Mission - Voxel9 Simply beautiful? Or beautifully simple? "Mensa called again...they said don't ever, ever call them back again. Ever." Both actually. Trinodia is Daniel Eldström and unless you've been living under a rock (or Alabama, Mississippi, or Lousiana, know collectively as the place education goes to die) you've heard his music. This savvy Swede is a veteran of the goa trance scene. The digital release Human History from 2011 and his last album Stargazing are sparkling examples of stellar melodies and driving power. Like Filteria and E-mantra he's got..."it". What began as a regular doctor's visit soon descended into a whirlwind of glossy pamphlets, antibiotics, and painful urination. The Midas touch. He's got the Midas touch. Jeez, dial it down. Melodies are plentiful with rising and falling arpeggios willfully sacrificing themselves to the filter cutoff knob. There are samples of exotic shamans that are more enlightened than you after a bag of weed and ass wiggling grooves (Qind Mind) which keep me twirling. He stacks new school melodies on top of old school bite and growl resulting in an enveloping atmosphere. However it's not without a blemish. Like a man going to see the Notebook in the theater something was out of place. A11 wasn't bad, but it was too polished and shiny. Too...full-on. The feel of the track didn't match the overall vibe of the album. But by the time Rusty Rites came on... The final track is a downtempo one from his ambient project Voxel9 that couldn't get you closer to viewing the Earth from space than if Nasa sent you there to fix that f*cking cooling duct on the space station. Where was that thing made, China? So cold, so bright, so desolate with only the sounds of mission control in your headphones to keep you from floating away. It should go without saying, but get on this. It's worth every penny. Nice work Mr. Eldstrom. Psyshop Mdk

Have you ever seen something and said that? Nope that's just terrifying. I've never actually vomited spontaneously, but perhaps here... Hey I"m a dog person, but this...f*ck where would you begin to try and pet this...abomination. "Ok...I'll come peacefully. Let me get my fur coat." Need a lawnmower to shave that thatch. He is every cab driver I have ever had in NYC. That's how I felt when I saw this cover. So ugly. So we've got flowers (opium maybe?) mountains, crazy colored clouds, the Earth I guess, and then...what the f*ck is that? Riiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnggggg...yes, it's attention. I craves it. Aw f*ck it, if that's his way of expressing himself more power to him. It's a free country, but good luck finding a job that doesn't involve circus tents and cotton candy. And how does getting laid work? Can't imagine they're lining up for some reptile lovin. How bout that first visit to the girlfriends parents? Actually he's been married for almost 10 years so if that doesn't prove there is someone for everyone....and no she isn't a turtle. Guy's actually really smart. So yeah, this cover is ugly. Maria, no offense but uh...I wouldn't put this on the resume. Less is more, and there is just too much "more" going on. But file this in the don't judge a book by its cover drawer, because there are some seriously good tunes to be found. As you can see this is the 2nd chapter in the Art From the Heart series and like its predecessor it is also free. It's a who's who in the genre of today's goa trance with some names I am sure you will recognize. And some not. But surely if you've been following this music, then you know of the label. They have released the 3 Golden Vibes goa trance compilations and of course the album when the world became aware of Uber-talent Afgin. Witchcraft Night- I swear I've heard that tribal chanting sample, but I cannot put my finger on it. Hmmm...notice it's over 9 minutes and that gives me pause because normally I cannot take 3 minutes of Wonderboy tracks. Just my preference, but I feel he is a better compiler. But this one isn't bad. Flutes, bass sweeps and a general happy vibe until it shifts after 4 minutes. The break sees a return of the chanting sample and I have to admit the flow is very enjoyable. Good job. Evil Machine- Civil servants mistakenly believe they can save Sarah Connor by beating the sh*t out of one of HP's budget models. Alas the blows struck weren't fatal...and laser printers hold a grudge. It's full steam ahead with power and multiple waves of melody. Gotta like the energy in this one. Riot Here! Riot Now!- "No more naps! I mean it...and get that f*cking cauliflower off my plate!" Japanese badasses Jun Iwai & Masakazu Shimodi win the title of don't f*ck around track with a straight out of the box stormer that oozes with intensity. Layers of melody and the presence of some crunchy guitar that doesn't seem out of place. Boom. Ganesh Soul- Very good track by this newcomer with yep you guessed it more layers of melody. He strangles one lead like I want to strangle those baloonheads on Fox News. Wipe that f*cking smirk off your face Steve Doocy! It loses the initial power it had, but it's still good for what appears to be the first release from this project. Kings of Camouflage- nothing to see here, keep it moving people. Aura- I didn't hear his album. Was it good? This was a little too...full-oney for my liking. Pass. Know No Silence- 18 year old (you sonofab*tch wipe that smile off your face!) Israeli Nadav Kahanowich makes some awesome goa trance. Melody + Power = wish I was 18 again. This is not your 4 on the floor type stuff. I mean yeah it gets to that, but it also has other interesting rhythms. He starts tacking on the layers for a pretty good track. Shamar- Kinda has a simple bass line, a bunch of Indian(?) chants or vocal, especially the break. I think if I was bumping this in my car, they would think I was a terrorist. Then I would be brought in for questioning, they'd check my internet history (and I definitely don't want that) and then put on the no fly list...it's a whole thing. It's a little on the thin side, but still enjoyable and pumping. Cleopatra- This gentleman needs no introduction and the soft Indian vocal means the promised land of bollywood can't be far away. Man, he shows us how it's done. Bubbling synths and bass lines, layers of 303 madness, and just smooth as silk flow. It twinkles and then growls for a great ride. One of my favorites. Sun and Snow- Artur Mataryan from Mother Russia has released several albums that are worth checking out. Here he brings rising and falling synths and layers of sound. It's got an outer space feel and is floaty. Good one. Away From Eden- Artur again to close the compilation with a short downtempo track. Big pads and percussion form the foundation with a nice flute melody. Good way to end. So it is what it is. Please overlook the cover and give this a try. Several styles of goa are represented with some good results. It's free so you have nothing to lose but time. Ektoplazm Mdk
  20. Artist: Various Title: Memories From Goa Madness Label: Goa Madness Records Date: November, 2013 1. Into The Vast Dark Ocean EPHEDRA AND OMNIVOX 2. Overdose RADICAL DISTORTION 3. Initially ASMIK 4. Pray For Mars MERR0W 5. Light Up The Sky OMNIVOX 6. Ancient Aliens RADICAL DISTORTION 7. Trip Through The Heart Of The Galaxy EPHEDRA 8. Psychoactive LIQUID FLOW 9. Jurassic Attack AGNETON *Sitting on toilet typing review on phone* Dude, what si...si... "D-E! D-E!! Motherf*cker why won't you type D-E!?!" Great so now I can't finish my review while I'm on the hopper. I'm trying to multitask but wordpad on the Samsung is making that a tad difficult. Hit the fan. Oh aliendna99 didn't your mother ever teach you if you don't have anything nice to say, say it with gifs? See? See...it's not so fun to wear the cone of shame is it? But why so abrubtly negative? Was your jacket covered in minus signs still at the dry cleaners? I'm poking fun and he is entitled to his opinion as we all are. One thing we share is a love of goa trance so I figure the more labels that decide to release it the greater chance for variety. And we all win when that happens right? I've ripped Goalogique for their first two compilations as I felt they were subpar so I suppose that he's doing the same thing (although from his post it seems he did it from solely samples and we know how that can go), but I won't deny that label my support. This business is too hard. Now to be fair he's not calling them out because Goa Madness Records is a new label, but because he feels the music is just homogenous new school same old same old stuff. And to a certain degree he's correct. "Dude, what side are you on?" Both. None. Wigro I'm Switzerland. But I agree with his complaint kinda. If you're one of those who believe that goa trance these days sounds like it's churned out like processed food (it's not) then you probably won't have many positive things to say about this release. It certainly isn't going to rewrite the "formula" for goa trance production. But you know what not many do. The compilation opens with an absolute ripping track by Ephedra and Omnivox. Pure class. I really enjoyed Ageneton's high energy track and Psychoactive is one of the best tracks ever to come from Liquid Flow in my opinion. And the Merr0w and Radical Distortion tracks? Thick melodies and piercing leads that lend themselves to maximum twirling. The only one I wasn't thrilled with was the Asmik track. The key change didn't sit well with me and at almost 9 minutes it felt twice that. Still not bad at all for their very first track. If you're looking for goa trance this compilation is quite good. Leads scream with bite and it's very danceable. The sound quality is also fantastic. Wait a minute...what was the problem again? Well worth my money and a great debut compilation. Great job Goa Madness crew! Psyshop Beatspace Mdk
  21. Artist: Opale Title: Anaconda's Dance Label: DAT Records Date: December, 2015 1. Anaconda's Dance 2. Kundun 3. Twister Sound 303 4. Hackers Is it possible to love a label more than DAT Records right now? Like the rest of you it was Christmas, Han...Chanu...Kwanzaa all rolled into one when my brand new copies of the Pleiadians arrived. It's been a long time coming, but the piece de resistance was finally realized. The biggest question I had was how is DAT going to top this? IFO is arguably one of the greatest goa trance albums of all time and the 3 CD version from DAT? Well I don't mind telling you that I may be a little bit gay for Draeke right about now. Now I ordered the two EP's that were ready at the same time because there was no extra shipping and I also wanted to support a label that has given so much. Didn't really know who they were or give much thought to it. Like Tom up there I think I'm in love. Opale is Greg Bailay from France and was apparently a music producer in the mid 90's. This music was made in the early days of goa trance, but you would never know from the sound quality. According to Draeke the mastering was so good they just left it as is. Remarkable. And the music...twisting melodies and leads scream through filtered strangulation. Anaconda's Dance opens things up with shimmering melodies and cochlear popping leads. Kundun builds the tension until the last moment while the 303 gasps for air. Twister Sound 303 has the full throated madness that sounds like Daimon's Codex from Suntrip's Temple of Chaos, but with more layers. There's a weird part near the end when it sounds like a new track sprung out of the mix. Don't mind it, but it's really noticeable. The last track Hackers is another rapid whirlwind of melodies full of fury. It's a great EP from an unknown artist from back in the day. Perfect for those who love their goa trance to be of the storming variety. I hope he is still producing goa trance so that we might see a full album one day. So...don't worry about your Pleiadians hangover. Your boy Draeke has the remedy. DAT Records Psyshop Beatspace
  22. Artist: Various Title: Eclipse - Psychedelic Trance Label: Trance Medusa Records Date: 1998 Discogs 1. Messiah - Hypnosis 2. Prophets of Psycho - Moon Madness 3. Mos Fet - Supersonic Wind 4. Astrological - Magic 5. Zero To Nine - Jericho 6. Liquid Lunar - Phonetik 7. Digital Sun - Space Flipper 8. X-Tension Aquarius - Welcome To Mars Typical German reaction, take something fun and wild and make it decidedly unfun. So clinical and by the numbers. Worst. Sleepover. Ever. In a world where old school masters of goa trance are engaged in title fights this compilation is the undercard. In Paris. Paris, Texas. Yep the local venue that is the weekend home of the flea market and swap meet every other Thursday for one night only brings you second (third?) tier goa from such acts as Prophets of Psycho, Mos Fet, and Liquid Lunar. I'm sorry, who? Why not put the guy that sang Chocolate Rain on there? The always scorching best track Messiah ever made Hypnosis starts things off, but after that it's slim pickings. Looking at the tracklist if this was closing time at your favorite watering hole I'd be afraid when they turned the lights on if I were you. And that's why you don't judge a book by its cover you bunch a racists. True some tracks aren't as polished as they could be (function of the time and technology), but don't let that stop you from exploring the depth of psychedelia here. There are numerous blazing old school goa trance tracks to be found. Supersonic Wind is hypnotic when the female vocal comes in and Jericho shrieks with piercing leads. Phonetik with it's goose like wail belies its aggressive nature. But Space Flipper combines the gentle whalesong with a snappy 303 and ride it to goa glory. Recommended. Mdk
  23. Artist: UX Title: Audissey: Live & Beyond Label: Anjuna Records Date: July, 2015 1. Slide - Waking Up To Chaos (Live Remix) 2. Pure Intellect (Live Remix) 3. Third Eye (Live Remix II) 4. Dominion (Digital Frontiers Live Remix) 5. Millennium Generation (Live Remix) 6. Cyberkrist - Crossworld (Götterdämmerung Live Mix) 7. Master of the Universe (Epic Live Remix) 8. Chrysalis (Judgement Day Live Mix) 9. Audissey (Excerpt) "Boundaries are good...They keep things separate." Ahhh...I remember when this was first announced. Everything was golden. Rainbows and unicorns. Cotton candy clouds and pixie stick joy that one of the masters of dark goa trance was going to release an album that we had been craving. Kris Kylven and Pete Martin made up UX back in the day and their debut album release Ultimate Experience is a classic foray into the dark and industrial side of goa trance. Understandably hopes were raised that this would be a return to the sound of greatness and bring back that rich, layered sound that we crave. Who knew that it would be accompanied by a monkey throwing sh*tstorm? From accusations of fake crowd noise, oft delayed release dates, anger issues, rumors, posted social media screenshots, the label turning on the artist whose album they're trying to release, anti-semitism...whew! So much drama y'all needed Dr. Phil on speed dial. But f*ck that I couldn't care less. You wanna dive into the mud go read the locked thread or the 11 page one. I'm sorry that friendships were ruined and bad feelings saturated the atmosphere of this release, but the only thing that matters is the music seeing the light of day. Which it did. Eventually. Finally. I'm a reviewer. Impartial. Switzerland. I love UX and I loved a lot of the music from Anjuna Records, but I don't know either of them so I'll focus on solely the music thank you very much. In 2012 we got a remastered and enhanced digital version of Ultimate Experience that really got the juices flowing. So fast forward to this release and now we get live versions and remixes of classic UX tracks and a mix of one by Slide and one by Cyberkrist. The artwork is beautiful (from Samuel Farrand from New Hampshire USA!) and the sound is impressive. Truly immersive and I pretty much love everything about this release from its dark acidic goa sound to its futuristic and aggressive atmosphere. The tracks are true storytellers constantly evolving with frequent twists and turns. It's layered madness with sinister sonic tsunamis that are just...unrelenting. The Waking Up To Chaos remix is a brutal assault with screaming leads (original by Pete Martin of Slide). Pure Intellect is just a wave of concussive force that hangs with the original. And that's a common element in all the remixes found here. While I wasn't fond of the Third Eye Remix on Tribal Encore the one here was raw and unapologetic with a dark techno base. This is how you do remixes expounding on music of which we are all certainly familiar. It's as if all the tracks have been given a shot of adrenalin becoming great companions to the originals. he brings the same industrial fury to Crossworld (a track I've never heard) with a deep guitar crunch and bubbly electronics. I'm not sure what Antic is listening to, but this sounds awesome in my car, on my headphones, and on my computer. I'm certainly not an audiophile (and don't doubt what he detects), but if he feels he cannot get joy (he might get joy, I don't know) from the sound quality of this release than all I can feel is pity. I agree that the volume level of Masters of the Universe sounds a bit lower (and if we're being honest it's not as brilliant as the original), but it's certainly not a deal breaker. Also, I would love some clarification on whether this mix is the same as the one found on the Ektoplazm release. The final excerpt raises hopes that perhaps a dark industrial tinged downtempo goa album (did I check enough boxes?) may be in the future. If you're a goa fan then this is an absolute must in your collection. The quality far outpaces all the drama that unfortunately went with it. Although to put a bit of a positive spin on it the drama certainly assured that it will skyrocket in value. Suntrip Shop
  24. Artist: Lectro Spektral Daze Title: Totally Frictionless Surface EP Label: Goa Records Date: February. 2014 1. Speechless 2. Totally Frictionless Surface 3. The Shiva Danny Marshall from New Zealand released this EP back in 2014 and I have to say that I'm really surprised and impressed. Like...Rihanna on the other end of a left hook surprised. Where did this come from? If his latest album sounded like this I believe more eyes would've been opened. The goa is cosmic and continues to be interesting all the way through. The music is entrancing with plenty of layers to delve into. He uses driving rhythms that invites dancing and unleashes the power at the right times. Great stuff to get lost in. Beatport
