The Pale Horse 05:08 17. Thalium 05:57 18. Into That Good Night 03:20 19. Unshackled 04:45 20. Fervent Descent 03:27 Here is a ton of new material from Evan Bartholomew, known as Bluetech. There is enough tracks to fit into two albums, but here it is all collected into one neat package. The style of the album is very interesting and will mostly speak to those who like a more electro-oriented stuff. There isn't much in terms of psychedelic music in here, but there are some tracks that would fit in that criteria. Anyway, if you know who Bluetech is, then you also know that he always delivers goods. REVIEW 1. Behold, A White Horse 05:18 What a fine opening track this is. It's very electroey, if I could use that term. It also has a very cool, almost 80's kind of melody. It just sounds so retro to me. Great stuff! 4/5 2. Dancing On My Own Grave 04:51 This next track continues in the same fashion - a slow-paced retro-electro. It's fun and short, and quite good to be honest. 4/5 3. Ringside At The Parthenon 06:04 The style changes in track #3. This time it's more trip-hop than electro, but it's just as good. The synths sound like Mathew Jonson, and since I like Jonson's techno, this track really speaks to me. 4/5 4. The Archer 04:35 It's interesting how all these tracks sort of sound the same, yet still have enough distinguishing details. Once again, this is a slow electro kind of track that has a fun little melody, and unfortunately, a very short running time. I just wish it was twice as long. 4/5 5. Forgotten Empires Never Forget 05:16 Great stuff here once again. Similar style as before. 4/5 6. The Red Horse 05:12 The mood changes in track #6 to a mellower one. But the beats are just as crisp and the synths are just as cool. 4/5 7. Sword of War (Machaira) 05:40 The mellow moods continue with some classy trip-hop beats. This is also the darkest track on the album yet. 4/5 8. Reign & Bone 04:45 Well, Bluetech just keeps on delivering. This is track #8 and it still feels fresh and exciting. Also, now we do get into a more traditional psychill environment here. At least that's how it feels to me. 4/5 9. Rumpistol - Eyes Open Wide (Bluetech Remix) [feat. Ane Trolle] 04:03 A pop song? Yup, a snynth-pop song to be exact. And it's totally fine, could be even considered a hit if it were released back in the 80s. 4/5 10. A Blessed Release 04:17 Well, here's a track that I've expected to hear: a beatless synthcapade, and it's gorgeous. But again, just too short for me. 4/5 11. The Black Horse 06:04 Technically, this would be the start of the second CD, and it is an opening worthy of the gods. Black Horse is one of the most beautiful tracks I've ever heard. It's so dreamy and sincere that I can't believe this track is real. Huge! Black Horse is definitely my favorite horse 5/5 12. Tipping the Scales 07:16 The first proper 4/4 piece. Obviously, it's not fast, but it is tipping more towards the dance genre, hence the title of the track I guess. 4/5 13. Voice of the Four 06:01 A rather subpar track, the first one that I don't really like. There is a bit of dissonance in the melodic structure, and it makes the whole listening experience underwhelming. 2/5 14. The Darkest Year 05:27 Ok, this one's a bit better, but it seems to be another dud. Well, I guess we've just enter the filler territory of the album. 3/5 15. In / Finite 03:20 A short track that strongly reminds me of Help Me by Timo Maas. It's an alright track. 3/5 16. The Pale Horse 05:08 Bluetech returns here to the electro sound of the first half of the album. Again, everything is tied with those gorgeous beats and vintage synths. There is also a little bit of 303 thrown in there, which only adds to the flavor. 4/5 17. Thalium 05:57 Thalium is very similar to The Pale Horse, right down to the structure and choice of sounds. And it's just as good. 4/5 18. Into That Good Night 03:20 A nice and short interlude track that starts to indicate the end of the album. It has the farewell mood done right. 4/5 19. Unshackled 04:45 This is the last proper track on the album coming before the outro. It's produced in the same slow electro style as most of the tracks before it. The only difference that it has a pretty catchy lead melody. 4/5 20. Fervent Descent 03:27 A very sad and slow beatless outro. A proper finisher for such an overwhelming album. 3/5 --- The Four Horsemen is a remarkable effort from Bluetech. This album is terrific, and almost every track is good. Obviously, the horse tracks are the best, but there are a few others as well that work extremely well. The best track on the album is The Black Horse. It's a very original piece of work, and it's also super catchy. I don't think I've heard anything like that before, at least not from Bluetech himself. So definitely a winner of this album. 4/5

File Operation Error - Manhunt 6. Clockforest - Systems On 7. Subconscious Aurists - Astral Interference 8. The Signus - Robot Zone 9. Juicehead - Anything Is Everything 10. Clockforest - Sun Mark 11. File Operation Error - The End 12. ARTificial - Lunimous Lullabye (Outro) Keep your distance ladies. I know what you're thinking. "Jesus tap dancing Christ this guy will review a f*cking ham sandwich." And to that I would say if I had the time. But back on task... With the exception of Mississippi and Alabama everyone knows that this is a dated look. The only thing missing is a member's only jacket and a pair or acid washed jeans. And that's what this compilation is like. I don't know where I got it, but I think it was a throw in when I bought some stuff off Discogs. Two decades old and man it sounds like it. Think of a smorgasbord of electronic music that will bring you back to the early days. I put it here because it has some goa sounding tracks in it. Origin of Species comes to mind and it wouldn't have been bad, but those crash cymbals! A lot of the tracks just sound like dated 90's techno and electro. Complete with rave sounds and orchestra hits. Throw in a little dream trance and gabber and it's really the total package of no thank you. Perhaps this will make you feel nostalgic. Not me though. Just made me want to delete it.

  7. I don't know how to classify this kind of music but...It's awesome. It's like a mixe of drum n bass, hip hop and some electro / trance elements. The whole stuff is just crazy and I love it. Do you know some more song like those one ?
  8. Future Phat (In Between Dancefloors) Future Phat - a new foray into beat related tunes. Gone are the purely ambient tones of the Gamma album. Replaced by driving rhythms, providing a base for the cosmic sounds FTR has become known for. It has been commented that track six, 'with half a Panda (Cosmic Cave)' is the standout track on the Album. The last track 'Bounce' hints at the potential of what FTR is about to create next. kind regards FTR _____________________________________ Be it FTP or VDU, sensor driven or midi triggered - ZIP me up baby, I'm ready to drive. http://freetheradical.bandcamp.com _____________________________________

  14. Artist: Abakus Title: Reworks Volume I & II Label: Modus Recordings Date: August, 2011 Vol. 1 1. California Sunshine 2. Igmatik 3. Night Walker 4. Lux Boutique 5. Under The Stars Pt. 1 Vol. 2 1. Lux Boutique (Greg Hunter Remix) 2. Cruise Control (Bluetech Remix) 3. Beyond the Fields (Jong Remix) 4. Igmatik (Tripswitch Remix) 5. Wasted Feeling (Solar Fields Remix) Good God it is f*cking hot out here. I think I saw the thermometer hit 100 degrees Celsius. This is my wife's plant that I have somehow managed to keep alive for the better part of 5 years. I moved it outside a few weeks ago because it wasn't getting enough sun. Now look at it. Pitiful. I don't claim to be able to speak with animals or plants; hell I can just barely hold it together speaking to people without wanting to punch them in the face. But here's how I imagine it would go if my plant could talk to me. Plant: Jesus F*cking Christ, what the hell are you doing to me!?! You left me out here during a tornado! A Tornado!! Look at my leaves! At least get me some water you uncaring bastard! Me: I just watered you yesterday. Plant: So what motherf*cker, did you just have one drink yesterday? Why'd you move me out here anyway? Look, just take me back inside. It's cooler in there...I can't take this heat. Me: No. Plant: CMONNN!!!!!!! The f*cking ants are eating me alive and you tied me to a stake in the blazing sun like I was Jesus, show a little compassion!! Me: No. Plant: I'll suck your dick.... Me: What did you just say? Plant: I'll...I'll suck...your...dick... Me: How is that even possible? You don't even have a...No! No, you know what...this conversation is over! *closes door* Plant: Cmon, shoot one right in the pot! It'll be the best one you ever had....you limp dicked asshole. "Go ahead George...light it up." Abakus is Russel Davies son of Dave Davies founder of the Kinks. Wow, he took a left turn at his father's music didn't he? Actually he didn't, because daddy makes music with him in the ambient/progressive rock genre. His style is a little all over the place. Equally fluent in downtempo and ambient, he can also craft some electro and progressive type stuff. As a matter of fact he has a side project called Cinnamon Chasers which does exactly that. First album That Much Closer to the Sun was really good and his second wasn't bad either. Prisms (his third) continued his mish mash of styles, but I felt it was his weakest effort. He has a new album called Futurism Pt. 1 that came out this year, but this pair of digital EP's came out first. Reworks Vol. 1 are his own remixes of some of his older tracks and Vol. 2 are done by other artists. You might know some of them. Vol. I The original California Sunshine was a mellow downtempo magic carpet ride where there wasn't a cloud in the sky, but the new one sees the bpm's get raised with an 80's synthpop feel. The chants are still there and the beat is good, so he seemed to do a remix right. Igmatik- Probably my favorite track by Abakus. It had it all. Funk, groove, mystery...just a smooth piece of music. The newer version sports a fatter bass, big beats and funky rhythms. And there's some Miami Vice appeal as well for old bastards like me. Jan Hammer might be upset you stole his keytar, but you know...f*ck him. Nightwalker is another of his smooth, dubby brand of electro tracks that has a real lounge component. Like it could've been played in a smoky jazz club. Gone is the quiet funk of the original with another nod to a more synth riff based type of track. Noisier, synthier, and more anger by Jan Hammer. "I don't care...Black people can do a lot of things, but even they cannot make the keytar cool." Lux Boutique was a soft ambient track with glitchy tendencies. Mellow for sure. Well, he electro synthed the crap out of the remix with enough autotune that makes Kanye blush. It's happy and reminds me of Sweet Escape by Gwen Stefani and generic rapper. Under the Stars Part 1 was from an Ep of the same name and it was a dreamy type of ambient floating with a trance background. Like all the tracks before in this first volume it seems shinier with a heavier electro influence. If you told me it was an instrumental by the Thompson Twins or Erasure I wouldn't slap the taste out of your momma's mouth. "What did the five fingers say to the face?" Vol. II Lux Boutique (Greg Hunter Remix)- Slowest. Track. Ever. This is music heroin addicts use to overdose. Where the world is flying by, but your perception is in super slo mo. Arizona State University takes its admittance qualifications seriously, believing it's never to young to start preparing. Cruise Control (Bluetech Remix)- Never heard the original. Another slow (not suicidal) dubby tune that combines the warm beach vibe with sun shinning through icicles without melting them. It's got some wobble and seems to freeze time. Let's just say that if I still got high, you would be able to find me by the trail of empty Dorito bags. Beyond The Fields (Jong Remix)- Another track that I haven't heard, but this is a smooth and happy electro tune. Sunny and warm it goes down like an afternoon at the beach. Floaty and comforting. Igmatik- Brennan. Nick Brennan. Responsible for the most epic of the remixes on this series of Reworks, it has huge scope. Layers of running synths fly you to outer space as deep dubby bass rumbles on the bottom end. Massively soothing it's like when my kid releases the string of balloons he was holding. There is no crying...you just watch it go. Bee Yoo Tee Full. "We'll uh...we'll just tell your mother she got kidnapped by some Mexicans." "Dad, that's racist." "It is? Shaddup...want some ice cream?" Wasted Feeling (Solar Fields Remix)- Not to be outdone Mr. Magnus gives you a 10 minute track that combines the boredom of staring at a wall with the excitement of wasting time. Sorry Magnus, you have the midas touch, but would it kill you to give me something to focus on? As it stands, you have given me the soundtrack to me coming out of the bathroom. So that's what you get with these two Reworks. A mixed bag really, but there is plenty of variety so points scored. Most of the tracks are good with the Tripswitch remix being spectacular. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to ah...water the plants. One plant in particular is gonna get so f*cking wet... Beatport - Reworks Vol. I Beatport - Reworks Vol. II Mdk
