  7. It's always nice to explore the history of a certain sound. A lot of classic tracks from the mid to late 90's are mainly goa, or goa-influenced psytrance. A lot of times I'll listen to classics sets and be bored to tears with the lack of variety in some tracks. In this mix, I play a collection of weird music from early psytrance artists that broke the mold and pushed forward a style that was just a little different than everything around them. Note: A couple of the transitions are not so great, but it shouldn't detract hopefully. Also, if anyone is concerned about the Infected Mushroom track, think back and remember how boss Classical Mushroom was. Yeah, that's right. Giallieni - Glum [Javelin 1995] Star Sounds Orchestra - Washington [spirit Zone 1999] Shaolin Wooden Men - Remember the Slime [sub Terranean 1997] Snake Thing - Blizzard of Ooze [TIP 1998] ECT - Mäelström [self-release, Re-mastered 2011 (Original 1999)] Synchro - Power On [sub Terranean 1997] B.E.T.H. - Incredible News To Access [sub Terranean 1997] Infected Mushroom - Bust a Move [YoYo 2000] Psychopod - Friagram (GMS Refried Gram Mix) [TIP 1998] Enertopia - The Forehead Stories [Krembo 1998] Benza - West into the Sun [Demon Tea 2001] Left-click to download: Ziptnf - Obscure Alchemy (73:34) 134.72 ~256kbps

Thanks for listening! -Hugh http://dj.beatport.com/hughsharpe
  9. Enchanting is the new psychedelic chill-out project of Russian trio Tx, Smartex, and Ziflex which make up Raparuma. In ‘Three words’ we find three complex and creative tracks that jump out with character. Combining electronic and acoustic elements, this debut is tweaked to add just the right amount of psyvibe in three distinct worlds. ‘If only’ sets you in a good mood with subtle vocals and moving acoustic guitar. ‘Three worlds’ takes you out, above and beyond with pulsing rhythms and novel synthesis that appears alien. ‘32′ enters the world city world of techno // Soundcloud Stream Previews // http://soundcloud.com/infinity-loop-music/sets/raparuma-three-worlds Download the album // Click
  10. Artist: Mr. Peculiar Title: Alternate Worlds Label: Hadra Records Date: April, 2012 1. A new machine 2. Psycho Disco Balls 3. Everything Remains 4. Infinity (Mr Peculiar rmx) 5. Another World 6. Mental Universe 7. Ascention 8. Pandora 9. Algarythm "This truly is another world." Tell me about it. A world where the government deploys drones to fly over the backyards of regular citizens. What the f*ck are you looking for? A world where doing your job can get you arrested. "You see, it's all just a...what happened was...di-did Hawaiian Punch put you up to this? Where's my lawyer?" This is Dustin Saalfield with his fifth album and first one in 5 years. Guy's been doing his thing for over a decade and creates some of the most descriptive and involving psytrance today. Since I love sci-fi like the rest of you nerds, the cover has me all hot and bothered. Ummm...no. You're acting like a pedophile that was just released from the prison across from the elementary school. What the f*ck is that noise? Is that...is that a drone? A New Machine- Sounds like someone got some new hardware!!!!! This has an incredibly mystical and spiritual beginning with a tribal chant that goes on for 3 minutes set against an ambient opening. Talk about setting the table...Like he often does, he creates the atmosphere with effects flashing out as the bass line runs. If I put my mind to it (and you know that I can) it's easy to be a willing captive on his space disco vessel. The final break (at 11 and a half minutes you know there is more than one) illustrates how vast the corridors are as sound reverberates of alien material. Nice opener. Even if it was just full-on, it was all the ancillary stuff that I enjoyed. Psycho Disco Balls- *insert disco whistle* Bout time someone brought the disco back into the club. George Jefferson's ready...are you? Complete with brass and guitar wah-wah it's all studio 54 up in here. For f*ck's sake Liza, do you have to be such an attention whore? Aside from the transvestites and doing coke off the stomachs of bartenders he just seems to be going through the motions. The break was awesome as usual, but not a track that's gonna stay with me. Everything Remains- After underwhelming me for the first two tracks, he gets back to his strength. Atmosphere. This one stinks of it. Melancholy, forlorn...whatever you want to call it. The vibe captures you and if you're not careful you can get lost in all these layers. It's drifting and right in my wheelhouse until he does the unthinkable. N-no..no...I mean I don't think he fell asleep in the back of a car with his shirt off. Thug life? More like chub life! Yikes, let go of the pork rinds. No, he slows it down, like the batteries were running out. Man I was mad, but because the guys got skills, he turned it into a quality break before returning to the dream. Infinity Rmx- Yes I know it has the dreaded galloping bass line, but listen to all the fanfare behind it. Bubbling effects, arching synths, and of course he owns the breaks. It is very futuristic in his alien and floating style. I feel like I'm at an extra-terrestrial zoo oohing and ahhing over all the foreign electronics. Another World- "A strange new world." As if the previous tracks weren't alien enough he shoves a 3 fingered hand up your rectum. It's fast and there's all kinds of critters running around here. "What's a matter...you never seen a translucent biped mesomorphic organism before?" If you can tell me what movie that's from, you win a bucket of semen. This track has all the atmospheric synthplay that makes psytrance fun. Never a wasted minute as melodies crawl over each other like passengers on an Indian train destined for Bombay. Quality tune. Mental Universe- How can you not like a track with a choir in it? You can't. Well, unless you're Catholic. A choir might make you wet your pants. Oh c'mon, don't tell me you feel sorry for the church? Laser shots, acid splatters, and long sweeps make this one very appealing. His breaks are just awesome at teleporting you right where he wants you to be. Not bad. Ascention- *Turns pages of dictionary, while licking thumb* Ah there it is... Filler- Hungarian currency unit. What the f*ck Let's try again. Filler- One that fills. F*cking dictionary. Filler- Something added to augment weight or size Thank you. Thank you, was that so hard? Pandora- Another long one, but this is a slower, almost mid-tempo experience. It's very magical that flows with a saunter like it was made by a shaman. Progressive in nature with a primal feel. Why do I feel like I'm going to hear a voice say, "I'm sorry Hal, I can't let you do that." The orchestral part of the break gives the track a cinematic quality like the main characters stumbled upon something that Michael Bay will soon destroy. Impressive. I feel it went on too long, but hell if you've got a story to tell...I liked it. Algarythm- What are the odds he ends the disc with two progressive tracks. Put your hand down doofus, it's a rhetorical question. If you told me this was Flegma & Nerso I would've believed you. Good groove and wonderful effects as I'm sure this would gather the masses into a frenzy. Make a hole people, I'm tryin' to get a soul train line goin' here! "Psycho Disco Ball is over! Get the hell outta here!" So after a couple of commercial bumps in the road this turned out to be a solid album. If I had one gripe it's that damn galloping bass line. I hear it and instantly the hackles on the back of my neck stand up. Also it becomes a bit full-oney for me, but the majority of that is offset with brilliant layers of synths and effects that wrap around you like a straight jacket. Rich in atmosphere it's a bubbling cauldron of alien stews that never strays from the outer space theme. While nowhere near as good as Infinite Evolution it's still worth the price of admission. 11. Artist: Damage Title: God of Terror EP Label: Terror Lab Industries Date: June, 2012 1. God if Terror 2. Electrify 3. Cuttin Wax 4. Fight The Aliens. I know better. I do. Back in 2005 I picked up his debut God Help Us because I was kinda new to psytrance and was sold on the cool cover. Yeah that wasn't my cup of tea and I soon gained the knowledge on how to navigate this large field of music. Bad Creationz? That was worse. Way worse. I didn't even know he had an album in 2008, but if I did, I'm sure I would've reacted as if someone just sh*t in my cereal. So here we are in 2012 and he's still going. Nothing has changed. There are plenty of samples and guitar like sounds If you are a fan of stops and starts with buildups and headache inducing ravey leads then I'm sorry I must defriend you on facebook. This just isn't working out. Aw, I can't do that.... I don't have any friends. I must be honest, there was one bright spot on this EP and it was the last track. Loved the racing bassline, loved it. An acidic deluge melts the synapses and it is this high intensity twilight style that I appreciate. Balls to the wall. Of course they still manage to f*ck things up with the buildups and house like utterances and abrasive leads, but it's nice to know they have the ability to keep it twilight. *Names and link held to protect the guilty.* Mdk

  13. Artist: Concept Title: Straight Forward EP Label: Kaos Krew Records Date: May, 2012 1. Straight Forward 2. You Have The Right 3. It's Gone (feat. Tryon) "Wow great choices...genocide or brainwashing." I've got a concept. Why don't we make some music with some balls. Jupiter heavy beats with buckets of acid that seem to never end. Power with the force of a mack truck going the wrong way down a one way street. Hello dark vibe and goodbye smiley faces. Sounds like Aranaud was listening. But you knew that. His collaboration with Smashed on the Dead Star EP was monumentally exciting. with But this fine French gentlemen always gives the people what they want. Vicious Cycle, Paranormal, Experimental...his albums all deliver the same thing. In your face high intensity and no-nonsense dance music. The vibe is futuristic and cyber intensive. Twilight music with a heavy acidic component that never fails to get the body moving. Some people paint with watercolors he uses the toxic and lethal acid. And a big f*cking brush. The first track was good (a little sparse at times), but the last two are more chaotic and full of energy. I'm telling you, the way he works those acidic bursts is like skipping a flat stone across a lake. Recommended. Keep fighting the good fight! Juno Mdk

  21. Artist: Various Title: The LSD Connection Label: Yo Soy Records Date: December, 2011 01 - Extrinsic - Psychedelic Liberation 02 - Parana - High Dosage 03 - Godha - Beautiful Experience 04 - Innerself - Shifting Reality 05 - Erofex - Lions Gate 06 - Goalien - When The Cosmic Winds Collide 07 - Imba vs Nemesis - Overdosed Serbs 08 - Majestad Valkyria - Margarita (Outro) Finally. Instead of tap dancing around the issue, a label has grown a pair and decided to no longer ignore the 800 pound fungus in the room. Ladies and gentlemen...our music has a drug problem. Pull yourself together! We can get through this! The first thing we need to realize is that it's not your fault. We need to redouble our efforts and try to get the message to the young that drugs are dangerous and shouldn't be taken. Since kids today have a shorter attention span than your average internet porn visit, we need to find something they can relate to... *snaps fingers* Got it! Video games...kids love that sh*t. Ok, are we ready? Is my mic on? How's my hair? The effects of drugs have been presented in a fashion that makes it attractive to potential users all in the name of profit. "Hold up...so I can take drugs and be bigger and faster than before? Uh...by the way...your sister has nice tits." In a totally unrelated incident, the produce shelves of Kroger, Food Lion, and Wal-Mart were picked clean but curiously only mushrooms were taken. Hours later the police had the suspects in custody. Drugs are bad people. As you can see from the telling mugshot above they lead to crime. sexual assault and crooked mustaches flagrant douchebaggery poverty and unemployment most importantly though, they rob you of your potential...turning you into something less than what you can be. "F*ck you Yoshii...are you gonna pass that or what?" The situation is dire. It may already be too late. Reports have surfaced detailling addiction beginning as young as the age of 4. "Won't somebody please think of the children!?!?" So can a simple compilation of psytrance tunes perhaps change the mindset and steer our kids away from such deviant behavior? If not... May God have mercy on our souls. Psychedelic Liberation- "There is more to reality than meets a normal eye." Ladies and gentlemen. You know him...you love him...please welcome...the LSD sample. As I mentioned in the intro our music is full of drug samples like a Waffle House packed at 3am with drunk assholes, but I liked how they presented things here. Because it's not the same sentence repeated ad nauseum, but different bits as the music changes. It's actually...um, psychedelic. With a pumping beat, a few tribal chants, and slight goa leanings...you got yourself a nice little salad right here. Nah, f*ck that it kicked ass...this was a Triple Whopper with cheese. High Dosage- I just got it. Really I did. Parana...like that fish with teeth or the unfortunate movie of the same name. Whazzatnow? They made a sequel to that sh*tfest? Oh Ice Cube, where have you gone? Moving on...This had some pretty sparkling moments with a very powerful bass that wouldn't quit. A little too buildupy for me at times though. Oh Dough Boy. That gif is your soul putting neverending slugs into the sellout you've become. Beautiful Experience- "Each one of us is responsible for a ceremony to heal Mother Earth." Ummm...I just came for the shrimp, so...yeah. You have a real psychedelic track here. Changes in tempo, acidic leads, but I think Mr. Hoffman takes the cake with a long sample spoken over a sad string. Normally I would say momentum killer, but it wasn't. Added to its...psychedelia. It rambles on like a trip that doesn't want to leave. Hypnotic. Shifting Reality- "I don't want you listening to any angry music." "The Carpenters are Angry? I mean..." "Naive Dave. Close To You? We've Only Just Begun? Songs of madness." Obviously spoken before the time of F*ck Tha Police and Boyz In The Hood. Wow, I drop any more references to Cube there will be a puddle on the floor. Kristijan crafts a new school goa track and wields that lead like it's a light saber. Oh Christ, here come the fan boys. DAMN! Did you see him go in for the kill? Public school, I'm tellin' ya....you can't get that sh*t in private school. Back to the lead it flits all over the place, thickens up, and leaves a blood splatter all over the wall. I liked it...not too concerned with being a perfect melody, just unleashes mayhem. Lions Gate- I heard every animal but a f*cking lion. The title says Lion, where's my f*cking lion. Wait...maybe it was in there. I dunno, I'm kinda sleepy. But shut the front door he brings some eeriness that makes my ears perk up. Arpeggios tap out a straight forward melody and acid washes fly by with effects as if they were jerked on a string. Spooky man, like skeletal fingers reaching for you in the dark. Efrain Candia you say? Well you have my attention Efrain...if that is your real name. When Cosmic Winds Collide- Boris your album came out last year? Man it feels like 5. Loved it by the way, but you knew that. He makes it rain on you again with his brand of Nitzho melodies that come together like a tight french braid. There is no rest here, as it is in constant motion. Wanna know what was in my head while this song was on? French maids, erotic cookies, and a girl scout committing arson. It's a landmine in there, I'm tellin' you... Overdosed Serbs- F*cking hell, Imba you're only 21? I hate you. I'm old enough to be your fa...very cool uncle. So he get's with another Serb and this is what happens when you take too much...whatever it is you young kids take. This is an acidic ride that opens your mouth and stuffs it full of goa madness. Reminded me of some old Kuro type insanity with some cool percussive weirdness. But the star here is that lead. And did you know that according to Discogs there are 56 different projects named Nemesis? Maybe you want to stand out from the crowd more. Here you can use this one...purplemonkeydishwasher. Just throwing it out there. BTW, in a crazy coincidence my wife has a cousin who is an awesome rapper named...wait for it...Boom. Emcee Nemesis. Margarita- The short midtempo outro, a lost art form. This was the only track that sounded like it couldn't handle the bass. Could be my sh*tty headphones though. Maybe I should get a pair of Dr Dre's Beats headphones. Yeah...I'd be real cool then. This has chanting, birds, didjeridoo, and big bass. A side project of Mr. Dark Fox, I don't know what to make of it. Love the bass and the melody at the end but it was too short for me to really form an opinion one way or the other. Man that was good. Really good. First of all it sounds great, so hats off to Mr. Dark Fox for the mastering. It's uber psychedelic with great samples and not one track sounds the same. Evolving and enveloping. This sh*t was free? I would've paid for it. I'ts almost one a.m. and I'm starting (starting?) to lose it. Gotta get up and be in a "driver improvement class" tomorrow morning because John Q. Law says I ran a stop sign. How the f*ck do you do that. It's a huge red octagon. Did he think I thought it was an apple? Meh...I'll tell you about it later. Ektoplazm Mdk
