  1. I used to be a really big fan of Infected Mushroom, but this was way before I started listening to psytrance. I also listened to some normal trance, some DnB, some electro house and I thought that IM is something wicked, edgy and futuristic and not as abstract as the rest of psytrance I knew about then. Now they mostly do nothing for me. Not that I think they are bad, or cheesy, or non-psy, but now i find their music too dramatic/over the top, like it was made to blow your socks off at the fisrt listen but it quickly becomes tiresome. CVII was pretty good though but for few tracks
  2. Did anybody listen to the track referred to by the OP (Particle-x - goa for happiness ). FInd it, you'll get the idea then
  3. Some of these may be considered pretty cheesy but they actually do convey an euphoric mood, at least for me And well ... you asked for happy tracks
  4. I think of Nova Fractal in general as a goa equivalent to Israeli fullon, like System Nipel, Ananda Shake, you name it. More accessible, more trancey/clubby, less psychedelic. Still I do listen to this kind of fullon sometimes and also sometimes listen to NF, you don't always need high grade trippy stuff. But now when I'm more familiar with today goa scene, I agree that calling NF "the essence of goa" is misleading.
  5. Very nice album. Melodic but not cheesy, clever sound-design, tasteful arrangements, crystal-clear mixing. Ticks all the boxes for me.
  6. Did you read this book? http://izotope.fileburst.com/guides/Mastering_With_Ozone.pdf Highly recommended
  7. Does anybody here use this synth? How do you like it, especially for psytrance sounds? Probably I don't need another synth as I have Access Virus and some fine softies, like Spire, Diversion and Massive, but Serum is hugely popular - this must be for a reason. I tried the demo several times, it tends to sound somehow bland, lifeless and thin/harsh, but maybe it requires a special approach to programming? So, your thoughts? Do you have it? For what sounds do you mostly use it?
  8. Just listened to the whole album. Probably no standout tracks here, indeed, but the whole thing works quite well as a purely ambient album. I can say I love it, deep and relaxing. Unfortunately I was doing various crap in my office but I hope i'll have the time to listen to it again without being distracted by anything.
  9. Thanks, glad to hear that As for your question about the master output of the limiter (if I understood you correctly), I do the same thing - I set it to -0.3 to -0.6 db, otherwise it may clip or distort on some playback systems or when converted to mp3. Btw, I also use Ozone for mastering my tracks.
  10. After the conflict between these Russian hoolies and the British guys and subsequent suspended disqualification of Russia, Russian govenment bans British condoms. Not sure what the fvcking fvck is going on in their heads. Maybe it's a cowardy plan to increase the population of Russian hoolies, though.
  11. Definitely not a bad album, I loved the key changes, sometimes they are pretty unpredictable, but for me it's the whole thing too intence and lacks variety.
  12. I think for self-mastering it sounds pretty decent. A professional ME would make it better anyway, but probably the average listener would barely care about the difference. As for the track itself, it is not quite my kind of psy but I think it's pretty well produced, groovy and catchy. I liked some tricks you've done to the voice samples, however there are too much of them tbh.
  13. Speaking about older releases I can say that I just stumbled upon Chromosome - DMT Cowboys from 2008 and it is one of the best full-on releases I've ever heard. Now I understand where the 2012-2015 Digicult sound is coming from.
  14. Occasionally stumbled upon this when randomly browsing discogs. It's jaw-dropping great, defenitely one of the best full-on albums I've ever heard in my life. It's kind of sad that not many such music is released these days. I can only think of DIgicult doing something similar .
  15. Yep. maybe my post was a bit vague. I mean, you tracks are really well produced, groovy, good synth work, but you may think about making them more memorable, like maybe adding a catchy melody (it's a polarizing aspect in psytrance, some say that catchy melodies ruin the psychedelic vibe but I for one love them) or some FX madness, unusual synth sounds, deep pads/chords, tricky samples - up to you. Maybe a more prominent climax, not necessary melodic. On the other hand, that's progressive, which is supposed to act at subconcious level by subtle changes and slowly building tension (as opposed to huge climaxes), so you may just disregard my comment I'm listening to the track again as I write this, and it appears to work just this way quite well. yeah, at repeated listen it really grows on me
  16. More vids for my above post (trippy stuff)
  17. Finding good full-on these days is a tricky task. It is either too cheesy and barely psychedelic at all, or to the contrary, all dark, noisy and unmelodic. As I'm into morning, melodious full-on sound, I consider these albums/EPs to be really good. Digicult: The Lucid Nation (2012) and Soul Samadhi (2015) U-Recken: A Light at the End of the World (2013) and Flames of Equilibrium (2015) Champa: The Tiger (2014) E-Mov: Jasmine EP (2016) Nikki S: Frequency of Space (2015) D-Maniac: Random Life Stories EP (2016) Or on more trippy and less melodic side: Hypnocoustics: Transformational Structures (2015) Disorder: Transcending Biomechanical Archetypes (2015) Psilocybian: Godhead (2015) - this one is pretty dark and twisted but really well produced Spirit Architect: Anthology (2014) Some vids Morning https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tx01lb35pno Trippy
  18. Could you give some context on this one? I can only think of "aux" channels in a mixer but I doubt this is what you are asking about.
  19. That's recurrent fraction (or however is it properly called). If you sum the rating figures for all tracks and divide it by the number of the tracks, you get 4.2222222 (ad inf)
  20. Where is AP, indeed? Iirc, he said in another thread that he is having some problems and then dissapeared, hope everything is OK with him? (sorry for the OT)
  21. Thanks guys! I'm glad you like the melodies I have a wild idea of sending this to Dacru
  22. Idk, I usually rate stuff for myself in this way, where "6" is for "well made, solid, good melodies and top-notch production", but some truly outstanding music may go above 6. As there is the poll, I can adapt ratings to "of 5", I have written the review before Blubber made the OP
  23. It's intentional. I said that it is well deserved.
