  1. I agree that you can make music with free software or basic DAW plugins, but quality plugins or digital hardware usually have better sounding algorithms, more options, etc. Also for old goa sound you can use basic waveforms and filters, modern psy production involves FM, wavetable, additive oscillators, complex filters (like vowel or comb), various effects and whatnot, I don't know many free plugins having enough options and good sound quiality, this TAL free stuff sounds fine but is too basic. As for the Virus, this is basically a plugin in a box, no magic in it but I happen to love the sound and the workflow, the only disadvantage is that you can run only one instance of the virus plugin so you have to bounce everything and also that plugin takes forever to load. I wish Access release a native plugin but I highly doubt it will ever happen
  2. My latest tracks are mostly made with Virus TI but I'm slowly getting back to softsynths. Spire sounds very convincing and is much easier to handle in a DAW. Also Discovery Pro is a really fine softie, I never owned a Nordlead but I like to think that with this Discovery I can pretend that I have one . Massive and Diversion are also great for modern psy sounds, Diva and Juno/SH-101 emulations by TAL should be good for oldschool goa.
  3. I like two or three tracks by Hypnocoustics, they have awesome production skills but are low on melodies. The most intense stuff I really enjoy are Electric Universe (Journeys into Outer Space), Spirit Architect and some Outsiders, I think they are properly trippy but still have some good melodic moments. Don't know Master Blaster, it's one of these Nano guys? Iirc, we both agreed that the latest Loud is good and this is where we met In order not to go completely OT, a lame toilet selfie (made it specially for this thread)
  4. I see, this Digicult/Epherdrix/U-Recken thing is one of my most favourite kinds of psy, and I'm fine even when they go full cheese as you say, but I understand why people who want more "serious" psychedelia may not like it.
  5. Antic, it seems like you are not very impressed by DMT Cowboys. Your face says "wtf is playing in my headphones". Btw, you really look like your avatar
  6. As for me, I don't like banging, acidic, face-melting stuff and prefer smth melodious, floating and euphoric and I think this album is great, I like it much more than earlier Mindsphere releases (I've also heard Patience for Heaven which mostly did nothing for me).
  7. There are also few comparison files on the product page where the plugin plays right after the hardware, they indeed sound almost identical.
  8. TAL has a dedicated SH-101 emulation (not free but pretty cheap). I can't say how close it is to the real thing, but it's got pretty squelchy filter, should be good for oldschool acid.
  9. Thanks, man! I was really curious what the oldschool guys were using and how did they put it all together before the DAW/VST era. I remember a friend of mine gave me a floppy with an app called Fasttracker and a bunch of samples all of which sounded like they vere recored inside someone's asshole. I've made a bunch of 2-minute long tracks with it, but I wasn't into electronic music back then so I gave it up quickly. Also there was Rebirth. I had no idea what all these knobs are supposed to do and why they have such funny names like "cutoff" or "decay" but I did have some fun with it.
  10. I mean people who aren't into psychedelic music will most probably consider it "nice" But I have no idea why this guy promotes his music on a psytrance-related site. Not my cup of tea either. Some of the melodies are not bad but the instruments sound plastic and I bet none of it was palyed by hand but everything was programmed in the DAW, it sounds very mechanic.
  11. I think the Robert Elster's album released this year is quite good and definitely has something in common with old Vibrasphere. Or you may try Solid Snake. They are not related to Vibrasphere but most probably take their inspiration from the classic Vibrasphere sound.
  12. Не, ну прикольно конечно, но какое отношение это имеет к psychill и подобным стилям? Nice stuff, but what does it have to do with psychill and related genres?
  13. I also wanted to post Suliman but didn't because I was afraid to be shitstomed. Dope track, love it
  14. Any DAW able to host VSTi will do. I use Studio One, for me it is the least convoluted DAW and it has really good built-in effects so I don't have to spend much on 3-rd party processing stuff, as for synths the important ones are Spire, Massive, Sylenth and Discovery Pro.
  15. I love the sound-design, all these squelches, stabs, metallic FMish sounds etc. Also the grooves are catchy and hypnotic. But I agree that the whole thing is very predictable and generic without any really memorable moments.
  16. Nice Iono-ish proggy stuff, I like it. Do I hear Access Virus here?
  17. Oopie, do you use hard or soft synths mostly?
  18. The guitar enters at 3:45 and then it becomes a pure win
  19. Nice chillgressive stuff, really well produced and mastered. I feel there is a bit too much emphasis on major chords and scales in the melodies but this is purely a taste thing. Very solid release.
  20. Upload a pic somewhere and post it here
