It's all about the money. Pretty much every former-psychedellic/goa act are calling themselves "full-on", you can see it on their websites, myspace pages, album info's, their history page claiming full-on made them who they are etc.. 10 years ago if I would look at astral projection's profile on mp3.com I would see "goa/psychedellic duo artist" or something similar in those lines. Nowadays what do I see on myspace? "AP is one of the best full-on artists in the world". Full-on? Big fucking lol to that. (btw they removed that since the last time I visited their page) Man.. Artists these days just stamp that fullon label to their music, whichever genre their music is, they label it full-on, because that's what sells. It's gone so far that labeling full-on as the genre of your tracks is the equivalent of having health insurance, something you really can't go without if you want to be succesful in the music world. There's an awful lot of new producers these days that start out with full-on as their music genre . Most of these new producer "kids" think that fullon sells so good that releasing just about anything under the full-on domain will lead them to a rich, wealthy life. It's pathetic, the advertising, and the so-called "genre". I wouldn't hate it if it was a genre of its own, having it's own scene. But it basically ate every other pscyhedellic genre alive, and replaced it with this dull over-repetitive flat soulless sound. Now the full-on genre is being stedily replaced by prog music. Instead of moving to new genres names, the artists should focus on changing their music, because I don't care if your name is Jon, Paul, or Simon, I don't care if you were blessed by the fucking pope, your music is the one that talks.

Hey all. My m8 has opened up a website for electronic audio production enthusiasts and beginners alike. It's a new site, only 5 days old, but you should come and register, ask questions about anything music-production - related in the forums, or just chat along in the off-topic.. Come and join the growing community I'll be helping out my friend in various parts of the website. He allready had an audio-based website before, but it was localized for Croatian people. This one is international however, so everyone is welcome, as long as you can speak english of course Visit www.dailyaudio.co.cc btw. We're experiencing some problems with how Opera handles the forum, as it looks minimized. Other browsers work fine tho, and the bug with opera will be fixed soon enough

Yeah but you can't really buy stuff from other people on that site tho.

Ah yes a good lady allways has her flaws. But really, this lady I've fallen in love to I think (and it's gonna last for a long while)

Sonar and ProTools are like fruits & vegetables. It's really hard to change to protools if youre too used to the way sonar works. I'd rather recommend Cubase, I've recently made the switch, and I find it quite easy to get used to. Still have a small million mini-projects in sonar that i need to transform into cubase, keep some, delete some. But so far I like cubase

Cool competition. I've clicked on "join group", but I still seem not being able to post. Do I have to wait some time for my request to be accepted or something? I don't really know how the discogs system works.

I pronounce it ish-cue, cos I don't really know how it's pronounced properly but it sounds ok to me. Besides I don't listen to his artist name, I listen to his music

Albino Soft Synth + Axiom 49....
Malevol3nt replied to TRohr's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
First make sure youre Axiom is selected in the Options>Midi menu, Under the midi Input part, and that the Enable button is lighted on. Most vst's don't have an integrated midi learn function. So the easiest way to do it is with either one of these 2 techniques. Note If you have FL Studio version 8, skip this part and read Technique 2 (If you've bought FL Studio, the 8th version will be a free upgrade for you in case you don't have it). Technique 1: - Open the Albino window, move a fader/knob you want to automate just to make it active - Click the arrow for the menu in the top-left corner of the window, and go to Last Tweaked Parameter>Link To Controller... (or just double tap the L key on the keyboard) - Now move the fader/slider/knob or whatever you want it assigned to on your Axiom. After that click Accept if needed. Technique 2: FL Studio 8 has a nice little feature called Multi-link controllers. Basically what it does is helps you link controls from your midi keyboard to the one on the synth, in a much faster way. Howto: - Activate the multilink feature by clicking on the multilink controllers button - Move the faders/knobs/otherfeatures on your vst, whichever ammount you want, but remember the sequence. Then you associate the link to your midi keyboard by doing the same in Axiom. Just move the faders/knobs on your Axiom keeping in mind that you move them 1 at a time, and they will link themselves to the albino faders/knobs, in the same sequence as youve done in the vst. After that, ff youre multilink button is lighted up, you can click it again to disable it, if you don't need to make any more links. For example if you move Controller Number 1,6,3,9 on albino, and you moved fader 9,2,8,4 on your axiom in that sequence, the links will be 1=9, 6=2, 3=8, 9=4. Note: This will only make the links temporary, a.k.a. they will only be linked in that project. When you open a new one you will have to do the linking process again. Permanent Link for future projects: There is a way to permanently link your Axiom controls to Albino, in the way you set them, and make FL Studio allways remember these settings. Howto: - Activate the multilink feature. - Move the faders/knobs/otherfeatures on the Albino VST that you allways want to be linked to Axiom. - Right click on the multilink icon and select Override generic settings. - You will get a window open, it will ask you to move a fader/knob that you want assigned to that albino controller. Move a fader/knob that you want, then click accept. For each controller on the vst that you want linked you will have to move a fader/knob/whatever on your axiom, and then you click accept aftear each link is done. Keep doing that untill you're finnished with linking. If youre multilink button is lighted up, you can click it again to disable it, as you don't need it anymore. Hope that helped! If you need anymore help post it up. Happy automating friend! -
Ghost Sound at start of mix down
Malevol3nt replied to frosty's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Well it could be anything. Maybe a bug in a synth of some sort (if youre using vst's). that sounds to me like a reverbed drum at the start. Are you using a Vst drum machine? Like Battery, Kompakt or something similar? Maybe there's a note stuck somewhere in there. It's hard to know just from listening. Btw a tip: When you're finnished with the track (if you plan to have it mastered), remove the fades before exporting it to wav, fades are added during the mastering process, otherwise the fades will sound "jumpy" when the mix is applied with various equalizers, compressors etc. Just a tip -
I think Carbon Based Lifeforms is a pretty kool name. What about ishq? How do you even pronounce that?

what ever happened to crop circles "tetrahedron"
Malevol3nt replied to technosomy's topic in General Psytrance
And things like that can happen again. Goa seems to be growing more popular among new producers these days, hopefully one day we'll see a scene that's even bigger then it was in the pre-2000's. *crosses fingers* -
what ever happened to crop circles "tetrahedron"
Malevol3nt replied to technosomy's topic in General Psytrance
I think it's pretty much because of both of those reasons. I guess it's all down to how good the promotion is + the quality of the music itself, then maybe the chances are better for the cd sales. There's still millions of people who buy cd's, they just don't know of this type of music. -

Malevol3nt replied to technosomy's topic in General Psytrance
Well the promoters and the people themselves need to attract new people to the genre. However this genre isn't that active as it used to be, so all you have left is hardcore fans and enthusiasts. I remember reading somewhere that "Another World" from AP was one of the most selling trance albums ever. An interesting question would be, would the album sell that good if it had been released today instead of then? -
Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92 - yes, the unmastered version. Vibrasphere - Selected Downbeats - it was only a 320k mp3 release, nevertheless, some of their best work is on this album. Monolake - Plumbicon Versions - Amazing peace of work, so spacey, yet feels so close and some tracks are quite emotionally intensive.

Time limits are no good imo. Some people can work like that, others can't. But good luck anyway.
