  1. E vs. Y - Lords of the Liverdance Salakavala - Fractal Fishing Good stuff, I´ll try to make reviews later on.
  2. OOK stopped making music like, ages ago iirc so i think, or atleast goa, there was some idm stuff under a diff name tho & a mikseri.net page.
  3. You guys in Japan should go to 6-d soundz/Sharaku`s parties As to the topic at hand, no idea, I tend to stay away from crap releases and I don´t really listen to trance that much anymo
  4. That´s just people in general, the majority of humans just are not that passionate about music, it has nothing to do whether they listen to pop or non-pop (for lack of a better term) there`s a lot of excellent pop music out there. Well then, the intial post, copy&paste or not, had some good points and some clichèd "grumpy old man" stuff in it. I haven´t been to a "big" psy party or festival in ages but from what I see and hear atleast over here there are plenty of underground happenings. For some reason I have never really cared for these "state of the scene" opinions because I feel that I am not a part of any scene, especially anything global. For example I always wondered about the enormous amount of anti full-on/tube whine, when in reality nobody forces me or you to listen to it nor go to parties where they play it. Also, I see great innnovative music being released all the and like the article said, new labels pop up all the time just because of the impetus of music that deserves to be heard: Exogenic, Psy-Harmonics, Dada Stream, 6-d Soundz , Creative Space, Freakdance, Faerie Dragon, Demon tea making a comeback, etc... the list goes on and on. To the "grumpy old man" stuff, it has been around for ages. I recall reading somewhere that in the mid-nineties there was similar "Scene ruined by crap music" statements on goatrance mailing lists when e.g the Hallucinogen` debut album came out. So it`s nothing new. Sure certain nasty phenomena can come out of the growth of the "global scene" but as consumers of music and the dance floor we can always vote with our wallets. p.S Am I the only one who thinks this "chained" view of the posts in crap?
  5. Hey Matt. I mailed you a couple of weeks ago about these records. VA - Transient 4 (white label) VA - Shift (Hadshot) Laughing buddha - Astral traveller/acid rain (Transient) You told me that Transient 4 was on hold for someone, but you`d send mail when you knew what was up with the buyer. So I´d just like to know what´s the situation now?
  6. This was announced like, three-four weeks ago and it`s for real. I wouldn´t trust that website much, looks like it hasn´t been updated in ages.
  7. They have a 10" single out on Exogenic/Breaks and an album should follow suit. Heard some tracks from a radio show, a very nice Pink Floyd bootleg for example. It should be available in net stores (atleast their own I guess )
  8. It`s already out I think and yeah it`s great. Clubby but energetic. I´m more excited `bout headphonics atm (one of the kiwa guys + pelinpala) breaks, etc...
  9. I´m not affiliated with demon tea in any way but since oztrance.com requires registration to browse and I haven`t seen this one mentioned here I take it as a responsibility to pimp this release over here: \o/ the only goatrance release that I`m actually stoked about atm. \o/ THE TYPE OF ACID THAT ACTUALLY MAKES YOU FLY!

  12. Oh my god! Another star of david. This nazi trance seems to spread like wildfire. What can we do to stop it, help!
  13. Lol internet, I can`t believe I read through all of that. Musical tastes aside, making "horror trance" and having graveyard imagery etc... is just as silly as westerners making "goa trance" and having images of buddha, etc. Besides, I´d be hard presssed to think that there is some kind of "neonazi trance" out there, they prolly used the star of david because it looked "occult" to them. There´s also the OM syllable there. By Pavel´s logic they want to destroy hindus, etc.. also? Some of you people need to get out more
  14. Well yes. Let`s take an example, and average psy party. It contains all kinds of people, from rave veterans well into their 30s to late teens who have just discovered the whole shebang. What I thought the topic started meant by elitism is people frowning on others who they feel do not adhere to whatever standards they hold. <- this was the elitism that I was talking about. E.g a typical example that I myself have been guilty of, not so vocal about it though, is that many of the kids nowadays (truth be told, I havent been to a psy party in over three years) seem to consider a goa party to be just a place where they can be super fucked-up on drugs. The freeform "Do as you please" vibe of the happenings has gone sour with people who just seem to exploit whatever liberties there seem to be present. p.S I agree with you on the whole matter of forced / faked plurriness. Though the case that it should actually be spelled mdma is a little cynical imo atleast I have felt a unique vibe of tranquil and people in psychic unison in smaller parties, without any drugs.
  15. Is that on "Diji"? Haven`t listened to Tengu Moon in ages. I didn`t find it that irritating, probably so `cause I don`t understand japanese

    VA - Speaker Grease

Tracklist: 1. Tomo Tomatoeyes feat. La Calamar - 4Point 2. Lightaman Jr. - Vino Lattia 3. Tres Lost Amigos - Digital Cinema 4. Antiscarp Warriors - Gallona 5. F-Virus - Tecnovirus 6. LPC - Takapenkkichase 7. Flying Scorpions - Metafora 8. Garmisch Partenkirchenz - Collaborated 9. Mullet Mohawk - Nyrkki-Paula 10. Igor Swamp - Class One Compiled by Whiskey Baba Mastered by S.Valtonen @ Robastation studios, Helsinki Finland Cover art by Floris De Langen @ Unc Inc, Amsterdam Holland The advent of 2007 sees the first Antiscarp release in a physical medium. For those who don`t know, they are a netlabel which offers finnish trance aka suomisaundi. This compilation feels conceptually quite complete, atleast it did when I wrote this last night after a few brews ;D So, now let me attempt to take you through it. 1. Tomo Tomatoeyes feat. La Calamar - 4Point This one is from Mandalavandalz` Poisonmachine. A secret agent bassline and a wistful lead lead the way. Nice enough but not special in any way, meaning that I did not like it that much then, nor has my opinion changed in the meantime. Why include an already released song? 2. Lightaman Jr. - Vino Lattia "Crooked Floor" for those impaired by the Finnish language. Liquid intro. Very energetic. Shut up and dance. Reminescent of slightly older Squaremeat, driven along by the throbbing bassline and whipping percussion work. Eerie whispers in the background. Later on a pseudo Hammond takes charge and carries the track to the not-at-all bitter end. 3. Tres Lost Amigos - Digital Cinema These compadres have had plenty of mp3 EP`s out on Antiscarp and it`s a pleasure to see them manifest in full plasticky slivery glittering .wav glory. Blissed-out fog with a no-holds-barred bassline emerging amidst squelchy acidy sounds and ghostlike vocals. Do I hear echoes of a dubbed-out piano in there? Nightly rhythms, driven and focused. Nothing random about this one. 4. Antiscarp Warriors - Gallona The warriors give an even more tightly controlled number, if I were a genre wanker I would call this progressive suomisaundi. "The bassline" is there. Stabby horns and videogamish melodies further embellish this one. 5. F-Virus - Tecnovirus Kickin! An acidy lead and some complementary questing melodies chiming in. Nintendo orchestral hits and a very tastefully executed guitar riff enter the fray, weaving a rich sonic tapestry against which I found myself dancing alone in my flat at 2am, brilliant. 6. LPC - Takapenkkichase In the short intro I hear Total Eclipse. Squealing sounds evident in some of the earlier songs give off an iffy recycled feeling I´m afraid. Feels kind of basic, doesnt evoke any emotions to speak of. After an obligatory breakdown it suddenly takes to the air with a floaty lead. Tribal. 7. Flying Scorpions - Metafora Now we`re talking! Ample bassline and rather arbitrary percussion, but from the chopped and distrorted semi-vocals and laser beams whisking by our heads we know that Thick is on the case. Grinds along burning slow but hot, evident of Mr. Kosminen`s handiwork. I have to say that the Scorpions deliver a madcap 21st century cyberdelic dancefloor stormer. Star Wars! 8. Garmisch Partenkirchenz - Collaborated The atmoshphere electrifies, goatrance my love. Vocal sample work creates a sense of urgency. Peaking music, soft yet intrusive sounds tickle the old brain. Airy yet very danceable. Listen for yourself to find out. 9. Mullet Mohawk - Nyrkki-Paula Finally, a Mullet Mohawk track that I like. A funky bassline backed up by uplifting aural mayhem create a happy yet cool vibe. Little to no variation but everything you need, It´s there. Regressive trance 10. Igor Swamp - Class One Opens like a funk song. A muffled vocal sample where some guy raves about a shower and a snack? All systems go! 80`s synth melodies. Most clearly confined to the conventions of classic suomisaundi but quite endearing in its straight-forward naievetè like O.O.K but more melancholy. Well then. A nice opener from Antiscarp. The majority of the tracks are good and even a few exceptional ones (5, 7, 9) that even gave someone like me who has been on a long trance hiatus goosebumps and at 10 euros a pop, It`s a steal. 8+/10
  18. Yuppie = Young Urban Professional. Besides that term was relevant in when, the 80`s?
  19. No, I have not encountered any elitism ni goa/psyparties and this coming from someone who is not a "hippie" , has a total aversion towards the new age potpourri embraced by many, etc... I haven`t many anything but good people As to the people who supposedly consider themselves more well-versed in goa/psy/whatever, if such people exist, it`s no sweat off my back now is it?
  20. I have a slight flu and didn`t go to uni today but thankfully my mail included Antiscarp records` 1st compilation "Speaker Grease" Even though I have been on something of a trance hiatus of late, this is very good, I`ll make a full review later.
  21. In older songs the outlandish "aliens gave us lsd" samples are fun in a corny way. Nowadays all drug samples & new age humbug, yechh :E Also, the quite recent trend to sample any "big" movie: matrix, lotr, etc... is boring and shows a lack of imagination.
