  1. Terence McKenna, Tim Leary, Alan Watts are hevily used, usually in quite unsurprising ways. Blatantly drug themed samples usually just annoy me, as well as stuff from The Matrix and Fear And Loathing (with the exception of 1300 Mics - Mescaline). Yes I know, this is a subculture closely related to drugs, but still, no need to rub it in my face. Be creative, surprising. Make me think, make me smile. Find samples that have not been used a million times before.
  2. I say yes. No need to rush things.
  3. There's just something very heartwarming about receiving a handwritten thank you postcard and incense sticks with your CD.
  4. So is voting for yourself considered cheating?
  5. If that's what i THINK it is, then... O M G But I won't tell you what I think it is
  6. This just made my day I guess
  7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2SFugfbvK0 Doesn't get much more epic than this. One of my absolute favourite artists and tracks from the golden 90's.
  8. I'm no expert on all these new styles, but Sensient and the likes seem to go under "Zenonesque" at Ektoplazm
  9. PortaMento - The Portal
  10. Perhaps this says something about how damn good an album it is
  11. Well, I liked Metamorph better. Smoother than Crystal Cavern which I find a bit...harsh, maybe? Need to take another listen to both I think. Still, Canopy of Sound is my favourite of your tracks
  12. Made me think of this: Walter Ego - We're High "OK we're high and this is the safest place we can be" IIRC that's Jeff Goldblum from one of the Jurassic Park movies
  13. Thanks. And yeah, I'm not a robot, but still I'm a diehard perfectionist
  14. Well I was one of the guys playing at the legendary Aikahattu island party late summer 2012 in Helsinki, Finland. Unfortunately the recordings I made of our sets were ruined by too much distortion (well, except for one which I was able to save, the first set of the party). This set was re-recorded today, and to be perfectly honest sounds more like how I'd have liked it to mix, since I'm still a chillout/downtempo DJ by nature, so the hectic pace of mixing goa trance to a beat is still a bit tricky to me, so there are a few "oops" moments in there. And for the observative listener, there's one occasion where a track skips a beat (because I occasionally can't seem to push the right buttons on my controller...), see if you can spot it Had to put it up on Mixcloud since Soundcloud's aggressive automatic content detector took it down the second I submitted it...
  15. Well I don't buy much contemporary uptempo stuff, so this is from a rather narrow list. The downtempo side is always trickier to wade through... Uptempo 1. Crossing Mind - The Inner Shift (Suntrip) 2. Solar Fields - Random Friday (Ultimae) 3. Aavepyörä - Katso Kukkaa (AVP) 4. Trinodia - Stargazing (Ovnimoon) 5. Etnica - Live In Athens 1996 (DAT) 6. V/A - Flight 604 (Zion 604) 7. Amygdala - Modus Operandi (Ektoplazm) 8. Musik Magier - Moved (Cyan) 9. Rye Smugglers - Chili Con Karma (Sun Station) 10. UX - Ultimate Experience Reloaded (Kissthesound) Downtempo 1. Globular - A Self-Fulfilling Prophecy (Omnitropic & Gliese 581C) 2. Connect.Ohm - 9980 (Ultimae) 3. Ra - Unearthly (Altar) 4. Xerxes & Phoenix - Let Silence Roam (No Label) 5. Kalpataru Tree - Luminosophy (No Label) 6. Ascoil Sun - Emergence (Moon Koradji) 7. Tor.Ma - Inside Universe (Beats & Pieces) 8. Makyo - Purnima (Dakini) 9. Vataff Project - Maeoma (Virtual) 10. Ishvara - Under A Hexagon Sky (Virtual)
  16. Logic Bomb - The Third Revelation "Music is more than mathematics, and I am much more than a program with musical subroutines" And just for the sake of some personal humour value: Eat Static - Epidemic The first time I heard this I thought the sample goes "are we dealing with an academic" Sorry for double posting.
  17. Rye Smugglers - Device Manager @ 4:28 "this was no accident, it was a well planned excercise by the new world order" https://soundcloud.com/ryesmugglers/rye-smugglers-device-manager
  18. Argaman - Living In A Bubble
  19. Hallucinogen - The Lone Deranger. There's nothing quite like it.
  20. I still buy CDs whenever possible and rip them to FLAC with EAC. I have backups of my entire collection on an external HD and of course also my DJing laptop. That should save me from re-ripping my entire collection if something goes boom. I also have my Ektoplazm/Bandcamp/etcetera download archives backed up on another external, just to make sure And no, I couldn't just get rid of my CD collection, it's taken enough time, money and sanity. And besides, I like having booklets to flip through instead of just a bunch of .jpg files.
