Although I agree with strydr about the production style being very formula structured, I don't agree about the review and I don't believe strydr is understanding and communicating the artist very well. I too am a little disappointed by the lack of variety - however only talking about that is misunderstanding the artist and this very fresh and original style created by filipe. I think its a massive accomplishment that this kind of psychedelic energy is captured in a goa/nitzhonot style, yet is presented in the kind of energy full-on has today. This is really big dancefloor music, and is structured similarly so as to estalish this as a unique style rather than being percieved as expiramental nitzhonot or whatever. Yet at the same time I agree the lack of variety is very much an issue. But overall this definitely is not deserving of a 3/10 rating. I have listened through this album a few times but I need to wait longer to let the tracks and their impressions sink in, and maybe play a few of these tracks at parties before I might want to review this. This album can be 5/10 - 7.5/10 depending on your taste and how well the music ages with time (whether it can be listened to more than 10 times and still remain interesting) It is too early to decide anything right now. As a first impression the music clearly is original and well produced. After multiple impressions it does dawn on you that too much remains the same from track to track - not to mention a tad cheesy... yet this is how you feel at home, how about on a dancefloor? These are things a reviewer needs to think about.. Also - once and for all will people please stfu and stop causing drama around this artist. Diaks stop argueing with Strydr because you disagree with him. I will seriously ask a moderator to remove these kinds of vibes from this topic if you are thinking of bickering and another 10 page waste of time results. Please review the album ONLY.

If one is a musician, one can't really just stop making music You'll be at it again before you know it - yes that means I just called you a musician and I want to hear more music from you. Focus on the right sort of thing, if you go down this path looking for fame and popularity, you'll end up doing what Infected Mushroom / Skazi are doing. Make music for yourself before you make music for any other reason. But sure, take a break for a year but if you've made music once you'll inevitably do it again. What everyone is saying here is true and is good advice.

Can I make Goa music with Garageband?
Aeros replied to Jon Cocco's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
I've been learning and using ableton lately and am really happy with this software, its very comfortable, clean, and efficient to work with and fixes some of the problems of clutter and disorganization from other software. I recommend using this rather than cubase, reason, or logic since ableton has some inovations above these programs. I will however add that FL remains superior for quickness of laying down and manipulating beats or melodies, which are very intensive in goa. -
Awesome news Mike!

Very good track! I'd love to hear more. Consider putting your tracks up for download, try beatbiz.net, you'll get good exposure there.

Pretty groovy track, crafty melodies, good job =] A good download for sure -
You can make goa, these tracks are good Keep it up and start exploring, your sound is full but its true you can benefit from studying how to do FX a little bit longer, as some freqeuncies in your mix sound quite flat, especially play around with things that'll improve the stereo image on the track, things like stereo seperation, delays (with panning), phasers, flangers to some degree, etc. The mix altogether isn't bad, it sounds just fine, pretty good, just those kinds of things would be the next step. I'll be using your Ufology track in an upcomming mix I'll be putting together =)

Your other music has been really good, will check this soon -
Diaks, this is what I know and have learned from the 5 years I've written tracks now, and it seems to be working pretty well for what I expected of myself. If you want me to say mindsphere isn't mastered the best, or that I'm not good there, you've got it, I just wish Ali told me that first rather than thanking me. Either way this was a long time ago, metapsychic held that thing for a year before putting it out since they couldn't secure a pressed CD release

Let's inject some music in this forum!
Aeros replied to Veracohr's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Is the idea still to make something using only sines? Ah, if i had the time this would be fun. I have something though but don't compete against it, its not using sine waves, rather saws, but its taken the concept of sines and oscillation and sort of weaved fractals of sines in the automation everywhere - inspired by sinewaves sure! Oscillate -
Get something that lets you watch the levels really well, maybe even a spectrograph (it reads out the loudness of the different hz bands in the frequency band drawn as a 2d line graph - there are even 3d ones like if you watch them in goldwave or a sound editing program, aim for keeping the spectrograph as flat as you can , start adjusting all peices of sound you use to a common max volume level (pick like -4dB, that'll give you lots of room for having a louder lower and higher end), compress can help you out here as well as limiters or maximizers if you know how to use them. Would be a good idea to listen to some other tracks before you start the mix down to get your ears accustomed to a standard volume level, then start by matching your percussions or getting them sounding bright and comfortable, and start adjusting levels to things while watching the spectrograph. If a synth or sound makes a hill on the spectrograph (basically a certain band is much louder than others and is raising the peak / clipping out even), identify which synth or sound its coming from and cut it away with an EQ. The point of an even mix is to maximize the amount of resolution your sounds can take up, so no area of the track is made muddy and less detailed by something playing too loud and crunching the sound. Mastering + Normalizing then gets loudness to a standard and hopefully universal level. Mike is right actually, ofcourse hearing what you have clearly and loudly is important, but the bulk of the knowledge is comparing your ears with readouts you see with your eyes. Sometimes just a really good pair of ears will do it too and someone who knows what they are doing.

Dude I suck at finding time to this but its still in the back of my mind, periodically adding any new artist I come across, encourage producers to add themselves too so I don't have to

Very surprised at some of the responses here, I will say I agree with Jon Cocco's review. This album is minimum a 9 out of 10, and some of the best goa in the last 10 years, a benchmark to the newschool artists to show them how its done. The production is very good and original, I say this because its rather difficult to get goa to be high quality sound without loosing it, its also difficult to sound modern as well as "organic", in contrast to the fairly easy digital cheese you can pump out of reaktor or vanguard for most psytrance out there. The album sincerely is impressive, and I believe dead set on the right path. There are 3 years worth of art here.

You definately know how to make psytrance that isn't borring and is taking steps forward. Highly recommend this project. Check the track Enhanced Hallucination
