  1. <125 Meditating, tripping, sleeping 126-135 - Chilling, relaxing 136-141 - "head nodding", dancing, anything really - just a typical track 142-148 - Dancing, "Stomping" - most songs that make me wanna dance are in this range 148-160 - Stomping like a nutter, having a really good time just getting really into the temp 160+ - depends on my mood, but I enjoy types of music that get into the 180 BPM range Thats my breakdown on what bpms I like for what.
  2. Astral Projection - Life On Mars (Domestic Remix) Vader sound effects, light sabers, R2-D2 and C3PO sound effects all throughout that track
  3. Hehe, well I personally like Headphones, or rather I should say Stereophones (you know those huge monsters that clamp on your ears) - they block out all outside sound and you get the full stereo effect of music. But like I said, durring production or post-production I always blast it loud on my woofer and speakers as well just to make sure it sounds alright there too.
  4. I think the idea that FL creates lower quality sound from other sequencers just comes from early exposer to the main synths that come with FL - which are pretty low quality IMO in their raw form. Early producers don't have much experiance with the program or its mixer FX and thus their work sounds lower quality. But its definately possible to get good sounds out of 3xosc and TS404 and theres many ways to go about it. It just takes some time. Now with the introduction of Sytrus to the whole package, you can make many more interesting sounds - though again yo uneed time and alot of knowledge of how the VSTi works. Only problem with Sytrus in my opinion is that it makes alot of "cheese" sounds. Like taking a sound and then putting too many effects and LFOs and "musical ketchup" over it to maybe make it sound like it has integrity. But again, a little tweaking and creativity and you can make some good sounds. I find that layering synths with multiple channels of the same VSTi but with different tones or waveforms works very well for me.
  5. Hmm. I specifically tested it out on 3 sound systems (my production headphones, 2.1 sound sytem, and stereo) - Bass is IMO plenty strong, it would start to drown out other sound if I turned it up more. Try tweaking your system maybe? Although I dunno, if other people agree with you I could be wrong... ..or, are you talking about the bassline? In that case, yes, I could possibly add more bass to it. Just, I was aiming for abit of a gentler track Minor detail though.
  6. Has anyone noticed that on the p2p networks, anything psytrance is ALWAYS by Infected Mushroom even though they never made half the tracks that people say they do?
  7. I used a custom made synth in FM7 for the bassline (close to a distorted sinwave), then I layer in some TS404 at 0:45ish, add another FM7 bassline meldoy layer at 1:09, then 3xOsc mimicking a TB-303 at 2:00. The other melodies are build ups of 2 more FM7 layers mixed with the original bassline FM7 layer (and later mixed with the TS404 and 3xosc) along with some Sytrus preset that I modified (starts at 2:12), a few more Sytrus layers added towards the climax (8:00), appregiations added to the Sytrus and later FM7 layers between 8 and 10 and towards the end. Then I had some TS404 with Spektral Delay for the high pitched "twinkles". Yeah, theres tons and tons of layers
  8. I use FL too and its not all that hard to come up with some quality sounds. See for yourself You just need time, patience, and good knowledge of how to use the mixer fx plugins that come with FL. Some FX plugins like Spektral Delay and others can help you out too.
  9. Finished this beautiful 12 minute long melodic goa track about 20 minutes ago. Eagerly expecting some feedback Click to Listen "Music is an Experiance, a very powerful thing to me. I try my best to create music that can pass on the Experiance. Synogen is my project where I try to convey the power of an image into music, to produce an experiance like no other. The name Synogen roughly comes from the combination of the prefix Syn and the suffix Gen to form a word that loosely means "One that produces Unity - Togetherness". I like the idea of my name being an adjective for a kind of music that brings the people together. Kinda cliche, but it has some value for me "
  10. *cancels download* Are you sure its outputting (whatever you're recording with) into stereo? Check your soundcard too, it might be causing weirdness.
  11. *looking forward to 2006* Best of luck, Filipe
  12. Seen it and I know it well, thanks though Eleria I dunno, it just seems to be obscure that some things are psytrance and others are net yet they stem off it or are influenced by it in some way. Perhaps the definition of psytrance is what you yourself think is psytrance...whatever works for you to put you in a psychedelic trance state... I think thats how it was in the beginning, but all these new branches just seem obscure when few know exactly how to define them.
  13. I vaguelly know the main styles of psytrance, progessive, full-on, morning, etc but I'm still not quite sure exactly what they are or why they are defined that. Is there a guide somewhere or can someone put up a list of all the styles of Psytrance and explain them/their origin? Samples would be a big help (link them legally off www.psyshop.com) ...If this question has been asked before (not surprising since this is a PSYTRANCE forum, hehe), please link me to the previous thread on it... sorry for the repeat if thats the case.
  14. It doesn't always have to have the "kbbbkbbbkbb" formula IMO , Subsonik has got it right. Some Samples from Psyshop.com... Psysex - Survival kit (Sub6 rmx) N3XU5 - Genki Penta - Gone with the wind Rinkadink - Has Anyone Seen Bender Most Psytrance is "full-on" these days, else its too slow for the clubs to play or is considered goa, not psytrance.
  15. Can I get a few people to give me some feedback on my latest track? Check it out on Acidplanet - http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?PID=528057&T=3621 I'm particularly looking forward to a review from Lost Buddha (if you're reading this )
  16. Most anthem driven 1 layer melody 3 minute trance jingles that are played particularly in clubs are Eurotrance. It's the most mainstream trance can go, and likewise the most lame to the point that its offensive.
  17. E-Motion! Its a small world indeed, I remember you from Singularity IM The Supervisor... production quality is great, some of the songs have a unique twist here and there, but to be honest knowing their earlier music I was expecting something more. Perhaps the only track with integrity on that entire album is Frog Machine in my opinion.
  18. So this is what A Message to Earth has been up to for the past year I'll DL all those ambient tunes and give them a listen later. Your goa trance in your A Message to Earth project was top quality stuff, I really enjoy it.

  20. Hey mate, I remember you from AcidPlanet Nice site you got going there. About your studio... Hmm, mac or PC, it depends on what you're more confortable working with, otherwise neither is really substantially faster than the other. A PC would be better simply because of more usability and easier upgradability. That's my opinion. If you want the most power/performance I'd recommend getting an Athlon 64 processor, currently they are the leaders in performance due to 64-bit technology (same as a Mac G5) where as the Pentiums still are only 32-bit.
  21. Hey, awesome. You just forgot to give out the link.
  22. Hehe, you like dark stuff? Well I've got something pretty dark and evil that I made. Unfortunatly you'll have to register at Acid Planet to hear it - http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?PID=416240&T=6337. I'd put it up on a site but first I want to make more music and then start releasing it. Have a listen, tell me what you think, but it's pretty much exactly what you're looking for I'd say.
