Artist: Psyboriginal Title: Unleashed Label: PsyPneumatix Date: July, 2008 1. Surprize Reaction (feat. Chromatone) 2. Pinche Paola 3. Mind Reader 4. Chicago Style (Feat. Electrypnose) 5. Haul & Oats 6. Direct Flight (Feat. Daheen) 7. Unleashed 8. Out of Ur Mind (Feat. Combinations) 9. Reality Psyboriginal? Hardly. More like Psyboring. Look if you were looking for a Surprize Reaction, you ain't getting it from me. I'm no Mind Reader, but this is run of the mill full-on. And when you say Chicago Style do you mean sending one of his to the morgue? Or deep dish pizza. Cause...I'm on board for that last one. Here's what I can tell you. I'm cranking up the Haul & Oats, catching a Direct Flight to let you know that my disappointment has been Unleashed. You are Out of Ur Mind if you think this is hard hitting night time psytrance. Time for a Reality check. Oh...Pinche Paola...I uh, don't know what the f*ck that is.

Artist: Saafi Brothers Title: Mystic Cigarettes Label: Blue Room Date: 1997 Track listing: 01. 10'34" Sweet Sirenes 02. 08'43" On Air 03. 14'23" 2046 04. 14'23" Together In Silence 05. 10'36" Supervision 06. 10'16" International Code Error 07. 07'50" International Code Error 930 Winning. Seriously Charlie you shouldn't smoke, gives you cancer and you might die. Actually I picture his death due to a 6 night bender of heroin and cocaine after he gets behind the wheel on the way to the 7-11 for a pack of Funions. Only he doesn't die in an auto accident. He threw up on the way into said 7-11 and on the way out slipped on his own vomit and fractured his skull. Sounds about right. Never heard of these guys so I thought I'd throw myself into the unknown. It's got a dreamy feel with soft goa sounds. Kinda like I'm high. There's dub and that distinctive reggae percussion which lends credence to the high thing. Can't speak of reggae without talking about weed. And this is perfect get stoned and watch flowers grow music cause you can get lost in the length of these tracks. And because of that it becomes background music. Soundtrack to Candy Crush. And emails. There really isn't very much change across the tracks to keep my attention. Not bad, but nothing that would have me searching out a copy. Especially at insano Discogs prices.

Everyone can write a review. Everyone. It doesn't have to be a wall of text or a gif happy comedy show. There is no wrong way to do it...unless it's the wrong way. And by wrong way I mean not telling the audience what you like or dislike about an album or compilation. Just put the essentials in there and then a few words describing it. I've got zero training in writing. I've never met an artist or attended a party. I mean, have you seen some of my reviews? It's not Shakespeare. Some of the best reviews I've read are the ones that bring an album to my attention that I wouldn't normally have discovered. Generate discussion and different points of view.

Artist: Afgin Title: Old Is Gold Selected Tunes (2006 - 2015) Label: Goa Trance Music Date: July, 2015 1. Ray of Light 2. Old Is Gold 3. Old Is Gold (Part 2) 4. Amanita 5. Astral Experience 6. Shine On 7. Fly With Me 8. Violet 9. The Sound of Goodbye 10. Aden Prayers (Part 2) Afgin. How can you not like this dude? From the beginning when we found some of his goa trance mp3s on the web back when the goa resurgence wasn't even a thing yet. Then came the Astral Experience from Suntrip which was great goa that forced sunshine out of every pore. After that were a few EP's and the Emotional Peaks maxi album. If you didn't think it was possible for his music to become more euphoric and melodic, those last releases put that notion to bed. So here's how I see Afgin. Talented as hell, good lookin' guy that seems to always have chicks around him, and I think he kick boxes too. On top of all that have you seen his FB feed? Dude roams the mountains of Israel in a sweet blue rig. Do you know anyone who has this much life win? I wish this fool would run for president. I'm not making this sh*t up people. There are those that think Afgin has sold out. I suppose the sign that you've made it is the cheesy album cover. It's already been memed so I'm not gonna post it here, but he's been doing his thing for a long time. Even if you perceive him to have sold out (which he hasn't) you have to respect his contribution to where goa is today as well as the volume of quality material he has produced. I've never spoken to him and I don't know him, but it feels like one of us made it to the top. Now I would lose my credibility as a reviewer if I didn't mention the copious amounts of cheese in Fly With Me. It's euphoric melodic trance at it's most epic. Real Paul Van Dyk stuff. But even here, he cannot resist throwing a little 303 at you. The music is the classic, full Afgin melodic sound. Don't dismiss it as soft though because some of these tracks also pack quite a punch. You get tracks from his albums and ep's as well as some unreleased and some never before released on a proper CD. Even when he goes all euphoric on you he always leaves traces of his goa roots. He really understands how to structure a track so that it's not just a collection of sounds but a dynamic, fluid tale. Respect. The music is well done, sounds great, and will not fail to put a smile on your face. Psyshop Beatspace

Artist: Denshi Danshi Title: Fluid Dynamics Label: Suntrip Records Date: October, 2015 1. The Dancing Shiva 2. Mariposa Live Remix 3. Fluid Dynamics 4. Feed the Mugwumps 5. Vanaspati 6. Make Make 7. A Fast Trip Straight Down The Ladder 8. Mars Base Alpha 9. Tsuki 10. Maelstrom 11. Kraft Karamel Bonus Tracks: Temple of Heaven Cow's Blues Live Remix Ugh...so much music to listen to and so many reviews to write. This is fast becoming an all encompassing chore. "Mike I need you to clean the bathrooms today!" "Sorry babe I've got some work to do." Whew. Now that's a chore. A four year old who ain't potty trained and a six year old with terrible aim and that's a chore I'm looking to avoid. All right...let's see what we've got here...*swipes right to left on phone* No, no, no...hold up now, what's this? Denshi Danshi? Pffft...what a stupid name. And that artwork...look I know it can't always be fractals and dancing Shivas, but it's so...plain. Well, it's either this or the wrong end of a toilet brush. Wow. Double wow. Joske wasn't just hyping the sh*t out of this to boost sales. My man was speaking the gospel! The names behind this project are Chistophe Frere and Said Archer, artists from back in the day who never put out a proper album, but made some compilation appearances with tracks like Cow's Blues, Mariposa, and Feed the Mugwumps. Right from the first track you can tell it's going to be an acidic roller coaster ride. The Dancing Shiva bounces with crackling energy and groove while on the live remix of Mariposa they show that Seb isn't the only guy able to wreck a 303. Rising, rising and then unleashing. It's a bubbling sizzler. The title track is a monster that was made a few months ago just for this album. Pure and simple old school, in your face acidic goa trance. Now if you're anything like me you're asking yourself what the f*ck is a Mugwump? I thought it was a derogatory term for dwarf like Oompa Loompa, but it actually means an aloof or independent person. This is a remastered version and for those like myself who have never heard it a true treat. It's all over the place with chaotic acidic tribal wizardry. Vanaspati is ok, but doesn't shine like the previous tracks. Something had to follow the Mugwumps and unfortunately it was that one. Make Make and that sneaky lead had me dancing like no one was watching. It kept changing and adding new melodies, but kept it's consistent level of awesomeness. A Fast Trip also has that tribal feel, but only just cause you might miss it with the growly leads. The climax is a whole lot of twirling fun. Mars Base Alpha slows it down slightly with some shimmery sci-fi atmosphere and the climax of Tsuki is a mass of leads and 303 madness. Maelstrom is an accurate track name that keeps building until it erupts in a hugely acidic climax. Blistering. Closing things out is Kraft Karamel a downtempo track that descends from space and allows me to comprehend all that I have been deluged with. A welcome conclusion. Well, almost. There are two bonus tracks if you order from the Suntrip shop. Temple of Heaven can be found on Psychic Deli's Future Psychedelia and fits well on this album. Same type of acid chaos. Cow's Blues has a sound that really does sound like a cow mooing. Slower, but equally psychedelic. Are new artists making goa trance anymore? Seriously, the old timers are back in a big way showing the whippersnappers how it was and is to be done. Look I'm sorry I made fun of your name. You make music like this and call yourself psychedelic toilet brush and I'm going to buy it. It's old school all the way with a heaping helping of acidic power. You can get it at the regular shops of course, but as I mentioned if you order from Suntrip you get those two bonus tracks and you help out a label that's been delivering the goods since Katrina tried to swallow the Big Easy. It's a no brainer and if you call yourself a goa fan...essential. F*ck it. Get down Mugwumps! Suntrip Psyshop Beatspace

Seriously, where do we go goa people? We have been treated to some of the best in re-releases from the masters of the by gone glory days. I'm almost finished my review of Denshi Danshi, but we've had Shakta, Doof, Etnica, Asia2001, Prana...and it will all culminate with the 3-CD release of the Pleiadians. How do you top that? So I guess this thread could be what album from the old days should be taken up by the current crop of goa labels, given a fresh coat of paint, and put out there for all to enjoy? Here are my votes: Technossomy Colorbox Cosmosis - A real Cd not just the digital one that came out a few years ago. Bypass Unit Gangnia You get that sh*t going, I'm throwing money at you.

Artist: Shadow FX Title: Direct Influence Label: Zenon Records Date: July, 2007 1. Full Floyd Rig 2. Left of Centre 3. Funktion One 4. Alkhemist 5. Intermission 6. Altered Perception 7. Liquid Cropduster 8. Brain Glitch 9. Woodlander "Your brain doesn't know the difference between what's taking place out there and what's taking place here." Did he just call me stupid? Careful son, thems fightin' words over here. We might send democracy your way. Based in Australia this is Peter Hayes who happens to be the brother of fellow artist Tetrameth. Which means absolutely nothing to me as I've never heard his music. So...blank slate. It's progressive trance that churns smoothly relying heavily on percussive sounds. And that sound is rich and a joy to listen to with melodies that don't readily make themselves apparent. Reminds me a little of Logic Bomb. Gentle sounds that surround in an almost minimal approach. But instead of becoming a snoozefest it has it's own vitality working wonders with delay. Works well on headphones and speakers so that's a plus. I believe it to be the combination of all the little touches which make this a deep release. Even though I liked it, I can also see the other side of the coin, where it may become too minimal over 9 tracks. If you're into soft progressive trance that can still be involving and sounds great, then this is something you might want to check out. It's not going to blow you away, but you'll be surprised how much good stuff is in there.

Yeah. That's what I'm looking for. I've liked their Noise Unit, Synaesthesia, and Delerium (to a point) side projects. So any suggestions would be great. Time for some musical exploration.

Yes it does. South African styled psytrance at its gritty finest. Dark and melodic with no cheese and more lasers than the new Star Wars movie. Grandma Death...is that a bass line rumbling that deeply or have I not eaten in a few days? This is one of those compilations where there are no let downs and no skipped tracks. Essential.

Space Tribe VS Electric Universe - Electric Space Phenomena
Trance2MoveU replied to Lemmiwinks's topic in 2006
Artist: ESP Title: Electric Space Phenomenon Label: Space Tribe Music Date: June, 2006 1. Rabbit Hole 2. Insane Monkey 3. Total Disintegration 4. Midsummer Night's Dream 5. Harmony From Chaos 6. Deep Purple Haze 7. The Acid Test 2006 8. Inner Revolution 9. Computer Crash "The question is...how far down the rabbit hole do you want to go?" Until you have to butter my hips to get me through the doorway. An Electric Universe and Space Tribe collaboration is as awesome as you would expect it to be. Acid, acid, acid. And then they top it off with a some trippy samples and you can have your very own hallucinations without all the paranoia and vomiting. This is proper night time music that combines power and melody in a great album. It's not without it's flaws however. All one has to do is look at Deep Purple Haze and wonder what unholy sacrifice they will now have to perform so they can undo the damage they did to psytrance. Also the final track Computer Crash is a bit of a cocktease. Don't start a job you have no intention of finishing. That's a life lesson for you free of charge. Overall though if you love the acid and the sound of these two projects you won't be disappointed.- 5 replies

Artist: Dark Nebula Title: Dreamfuel Label: Digital Psionics Date: March, 2006 1. Unwanted Emotion 2. Mary Poppin Pills 3. My Domain 4. Dances With Werewolves (feat. Scatterbrain) 5. Our Priority 6. Kraftworld 7. No Religion 8. Pheromone 415 9. Clinically Insane (feat. Fractal Glider) 10. Round & Round (Live Mix) (feat. Kluster) "Your prescription for unwanted emotions!" Ok, let's see....I'm feeling, how am I feeling... *looks to sky for answer* like I no longer want this CD. "I let my guitar speak for me!" Oooh...that's unfortunate because your guitar annoys me. As a matter of fact your leads which sound like guitars annoy me. "There's nothing left for you but a slow death as your lungs fill with toxic gasses!" Seriously? I'm only up to the third track. Your marketing skills leave a lot to be desired. And I liked this track with its heavy acid bent. That is until the cheering crowd showed up. "Your safety is our number one priority." That's funny because I thought it was to make fast bass lines. Throw in some samples and acid here and there and you have a Dark Nebula Album. There are moments where I like it, but more where it just drags on uninterestingly. "My music is a pillar on which whole worlds have been built." Now that is just cocky. But I like the creepy sample. Surprise surprise another fast bass line and sample. This one had a little more groove, but it's missing something. Electric Universe and Space Tribe do the same things, but I suppose they do it better. Can't quite put my finger on it. It just misses the mark. Well, that and the "singing" on No Religion. Not fantastic. "You can't run from your past....you'll end up running in circles." Need I say more? I've got it. The melodies aren't as competent and easy to grab hold of, but I also think he tries to be psychedelic for psychedelic's sake. Instead of making a bomb track it just feels like a bunch of unfinished phrases run together. A lot of sounds and weirdness thrown in one pot and then just shoved in the neighbors faces. With the cover I wanted it to be a night time tour de force, but wishing for it doesn't make it so. It's not bad, but I judge music on how much I would like to hear it again. I don't need to hear this again.

Anyone else have a clipping sound on Solar Journey when the kick sounds? Kinda like too much bass for my speakers to handle? Other than that it's smooth and relaxing if unspectacular. Good review Bill.

Artist: Blue Planet Corporation Title: Overbloody Flood 2015 EP Label: Atmotech Recordings Date: May, 2015 1. Overbloody Flood (2015 Edit) 2. Overbloody Flood (Atmos Remix) Blue Planet Corporation is now a solo project of Gabriel Masurel and if you ask anyone in the know, one of the most important acts in the goa psytrance scene from the good old days. He released one album Blue Planet in 1999 when goa was practically on the way out and then pretty much dropped the mic and said "I'm out. Deal with it." Crystal. I'm out. Seems pretty f*cking cocky until you listen to that album. Talk about taking the express train to greatness. That album is a bonafide classic of TRANCE no matter what label you try to saddle it with. Now I'll be honest with you I haven't been keeping up with what he's been doing. I've got kids and those delicious pork chops for dinner ain't gonna make themselves. And let's face it the track record of the greats from the glory days coming back really isn't that good. But something told me to give this a listen. And I'm glad I did. First of all I will tell you that I didn't really care for the original track. Just didn't move me and he has plenty others that are superior. So from where I'm standing it was ripe for a remix. He slows it down to progressive tempo and increases the length. Before you begin your eye roll somehow he packs it with details and it sounds even more goa than the original. Clearly some black magic is afoot! Throw in the emotional strings and bouncy beat and this is a jam packed party in a track. Hippies rejoice! "I can't feel my face when I'm with you!" The Atmos Remix is another epic progressive arrow in the quiver. Less goa, but more vast, open space. It drifts amidst the clouds and is a great track, but I prefer the previous. If you're an Atmos fan then perhaps you have a different opinion. Bottom line I love where BPC is heading if this is any indication. Now just one more thing...can you please work something out where we the goa loving public can get a Blue Planet reissue? I already have a mortgage, student loans, and car payments so fishing in the Discogs pool would just sink me deeper into debt. Just a small request. Great ep and highly recommended. Get it here!

Gave this a spin recently and have to say it has gotten better with time. Especially with all the other crap masquerading as quality full-on. This is proper night time psytrance with a digital edge. Booming sound with acid explosions. I knew it was good when I initially reviewed it (all those gifs...why didn't someone stop me?), but it's better than that. Add the two supplemental digital tracks and as far as I'm concerned it's a must have.

Artist: Various Title: The Science of Music Vol. 1 Label: Global Army Music Date: April, 2013 1. Abomination - Yabcoder (Abomination vs Shameless Remix) 2. Zinx - Knowledge 3. Brainwash & Klacid - Space Technology 4. Sick Addiction - Into Magic 5. Rubix Qube - Continuity Vol. 1? You mean there's more of this dreck? Oy. Lest you think this is some ground breaking sh*t let me assure you that the only science this contains is gotta pay my rent throw some sh*t at the wall oh look these guys will release it junk science. Before those sh*tty movies ruined the term twilight, this would've fallen under that category. Only it doesn't. It's not dark and it is more akin to the glow-stick noise trance masquerading as proper night time music. The leads are annoying and the stops and starts are plentiful. I'm most surprised at the presence of Mr. Qube's track. He's usually much better than this. At least it was just a digital release and didn't further pollute mother nature with an actual CD. I'm sure it's on Beatport, but their new site takes too f*cking long. Ain't nobody got time fo' dat!
