  1. some of my best finds.. Hallucinogen - Space Pussy 12" for $3.99 Astral Projection - Kabballah rmx on fluoro orange vinyl 12" (Transient) for $5.99 I love scouring used bins in towns that don't know anything about psytrance.. hehe.
  2. 3D Vision was putting out quality dark full-onish style music around '99.. but X-Dream - Radio probably started it all, imo - early Skazi was influenced by it for sure..
  3. hahahahahaha i think played 2 furious tracks on the radio show last nite. my favorite is Metroid from v/a Gnothi Seuthon. really nice innovative sound. TEH KILLARGH!!!!
  4. Furious is teh killargh. reprazent!
  5. not so much Zik in this one, prolly.. but i do promise some Cosmo and Jellyheadz.
  6. Time for another radio session! This one will happen around 12:am midnight on Wednesday night, US Mountain Time (GMT -7:00) - Thursday morning for all of you in Europe. Expect twisted madness. www.kgnu.org -> scroll down to the listen link. cheers!
  7. boring same old stuff recycled over and over again i mean, if they did something different.. but it's the same sound they've been ridin' since oh.. 2002? I mean, Africa in Trance, Alien Safari 1 and 2, Timecode Cypher and Orbis Tertius, first Artifakt album, older Shift, early Damage (from when they were still together) - those were still fresh, exciting tunes.. but they haven't changed the formula since then, putting out albums and comps like every other month, and obviously not spending so much effort on making the music psychedelic as they used to in the beginning. so I understand if you are listening ot it for the first time and it sounds fun.. I'll pass, though.
  8. tracks 2,3,4 are standouts, imo. very solid v/a, best overall track selection than anything else in that style since probably Moon Unit.
  9. totally this isn't 'dark'.. though Bodhi got kind of upset when I said his music was 'uplifting', ehehehe.. I meant it in the best possible way, of course - here there is none of the pounding, oppressive atmosphere that a lot of the 'dark' psy has. Very intelligent stuff, can't wait for more of the same!
  10. The Soulclipse line-up is ridiculously good. that other party doesn't have anyone I'd care to see, except maybe Hujaboy and Rinkadink. but that's just me, and I like tweak. also by calling Azax 'dark', you just insulted dark psy, thanks.
  11. Yeah, not everyone will make it to actually play outside their bedrooms - in fact most people don't. But if you get quality equipment, you can usually sell it, it holds value pretty well. also, learn to appreciate variety - there's plenty of good music out there if you just dig a little deeper..
  12. I suggest asking someone who knows the technique to teach you the basics of beatmatching, cueing, eq-ing, x-faders, etc etc. - everything from there on is knowing music, ability to listen, talent, learning to play to the crowd, tricks, and, mostly, lots and lots of effort, listening, promotion, and fun. Taking a class can be beneficial if you don't know anyone who is a dj already. there's a thread in the Music Creation section about DJ equipment, etc. I'd stick to the basics like Pioneer CDJs and a good basic mixer - you'll get the feel for the music and DJing unlike what you get with Traktor. cheers
  13. this is a longer sample http://ip23.dyn181.pacific.net.hk/27813.m3u NOT full-on.. psytrance!
  14. this ain't full-on, it's just morning sound. anyway, i'll reserve my judgement until he comes out with something original instead of a remix. His track with Eat Static as Metal Sharon was one of the top 3 tracks of last year, so I've got hope.
  15. or is stocking up in the event of nuclear apocalypse. hoping to trade those priceless IFO copies for food and supplies, y'know..
  16. hehe, I do that, too.. once you've played long enough, you just learn how certain tracks or sequence of tracks is going to impact the dancers and their brrrrainz. DJing at its best is certainly an art.
  17. Exist Dance is a nice label, though some of their 12"s are not all that great. The CD is good, though. I also wouldn't call it 'psytrance' or anything of the sort.
  18. i've always been a "dj" - making mixtapes every other day, playing "sets" while driving on long roadtrips with friends. Then I got into radio and played IDM and electronica for a couple of years on the radio. I began to DJ drum'n'bass also, but got bored with it quickly. Eventually I found psytrance - I liked dancing to it the best, incidentally - and learned how to spin it with vinyl first, then CDs. I played at a lot of house parties for the first 2 years, the first time I played out was at a trance party in 2002 - I got a peak slot somehow, and blew everyone away.. since then it's been pretty much non-stop.. I think I played about 30 gigs last year, most of them free parties though, so I don't get paid very often. But the scene where I live is not commercial at all, we don't make any money on the events, just do it for fun and concsiousness exploration. When I go play in New York or other places around the US I usually get some kind of payment or travel expenses.. but the scene here is still very small compared to Europe and not very commercial, so there's lots of fun to be had but not much compensation.. oh well.
  19. great review, I have to check this out! are there samples on Psyshop?
  20. This is quite a development from Infected, imo. Def. in the same style, but not at all the same.
  21. I thought v/a Crazy Goblins and Wicked Pixies was pretty "deep" and "mature" as well.. if you're talking about artist albums, though, I agree.
