  1. 1. CDs that spinned in your CD-player the most (artist albums). Overall it was probably Penta - Funraiser, though Nystagmus got a decent amount of play as well as Derango. 2. CDs that spinned in your CD-player the most (compilations). hmm.. lately it's been v/a Idea FX on Horns and Hoofs, but v/a Goodfellas (Materia) and v/a Boldly Audio are wearing out also. 3. Best label. Mistress of Evil - for their dedication to true psychedelia and the amazing live acts they bring to the US (and most likely lose money on each one, unfortunately). 4. Live acts that impressed you the most. Onnomon - subtle, groovy, amazingly trippy Fractal Cowboys - OMFG Penta for breakfast at Burningman, amazing - people were laughing and crying all at once Zik was pretty dope also.. 5. Live acts that disappointed you. I was lucky and didn't see anyone awful this year. 6. DJs sets that rocked your dancefloor. besides mine? Dylalien was totally rocking at Bman DJ Lauryn at Psychegrounds in NYC 7. DJs sets that made you leave the dancefloor. eh.. I block that shit out quickly 8. Best party. a. The wild mesa outside of Taos, New Mexico with junked cars, dirty hippies, crazy trippers, Fractal Cowboys, Ghreg on Earth, and a UFO. b. TDC New Years in New York. 9. Best festival. eh, Burning Man? though it's getting a bit too big and touristy these days.. 10. Best deco. Daya Cayung at the TDC New Years party in New York. 11. Best drink/beverage. dirty martini 12. Best drug/trip. that one time when I met the God of All Parties.. 13. Best moment/experience. Penta for Breakfast @ Synapse Village - Burning Man 14. Worst moment/experience. must've been when our big party got busted by the cops last spring.. 15. Best non-psy. eh, I dunno.. some minimal techno or IDM of some sort, prolly..
  2. there are a few people who think this music should be 1337 and all psychedelic people should all like the same synth melodies. oh, and they hate basslines.
  3. the 1210's weren't grounded?? wtf, that's like the most annoying and amateur thing a promoter can leave unattended.. sorry that your DJ set wasn't fun. nice trip log, though - sounds like a great time. cheers
  4. lol did Cinos find a new identity or something?
  5. in my opinion, this is not one of the best dark albums of 2005. nowhere near. not psychedelic enough.
  6. I think there's two Zik albums coming out soon, and a Fractal Cowboys/Manyface split album. Manyface is Jellyheadz and Dejan together.
  7. the fact that it's an excellent psychedelic album in an absolutely unique style - there's been nothing before or since that resembles it. One of the best all time, music-wise, imo. I am sorry I can't break it down into pieces and parts, I hear music as a whole, not 'bassline, layer, tweak, hi-hat, whatever'. still disagree about Cassandra's Nightmare - rather mediocre album, music-wise. though it did influence quite a few people.
  8. I usually find the newer smaller labels releasing the more interesting music, albeit their production isn't as good.. with more releases, more money, artists and labels are willing to take less risks, and the quality of music usually goes down while the production quality goes up. Not always, but well.. often. There are some that are consistently musically interesting, like Doof Recs for example, though they've softened up quite a bit in the past few months as well.
  9. I agree with Basilisk about Double Dragon - Continuum. not necessarily on the 12 Moons album..
  10. Definitely check out Jellyheadz - crazy futuristic alien psychedelic trance. along with Zik and Fractal Cowboys they make some of the most interesting experimental psytrance within the genre. Deeper in Zen can be good, or it can be a bit monotonous. I haven't heard their last album - the one before that wasn't all that, but their older stuff is top notch.
  11. don't forget GMS - Chaos Laboratory (1998?) Penta - Pentafiles (2003) v/a Voices of Madness (2003) Juno Reactor - Transmissions (1993) and so on.. good luck.
  12. well, sometimes you just have to lower your expectations if you don't want to spend the rest of your life alone..
  13. hah none of this psytrance fluff is HARD enough for me. well, except maybe OSOM, the rest are a bunch of pussies.
  14. there was some good electronic music released in 1996.. and then everything went down. it's just starting to get back to that level again, imo.
  15. OLD plus, Space Monkey is, like, full-on.. and the Megalopsy album is, like, boring. /opinion
  16. hehe.. that Dylalien quote is hilarious. they're even talking about doing Trancercize sessions in the parking lot of Walmart. and morning Trancercize at Burningman..
  17. Trancersize it is.. I'm off with them on a US tour next summer..
  18. actually, X-Noize made a couple of decent tracks in the past. I was expecting something good from the album, but unfortunately it was pretty average. plus, I am not sure what they tried to accomplish by deleting all of the votes before posting the results. surely not more transparency or public trust. hopefully they rethink their approach before they do the next one.
  19. yes, yes, we're all idiots who don't know what good music is. of course.
  20. where i live house, tech-house, and micro-house are the some of the most popular genres of music, and i'm so fucking sick of them, grrrrr.. this album just gets a bit too close to that sound for my comfort.. i need more tweak.
  21. haha.. Neurobiotic records seems to have 'scored' in this one.. Can anyone tell of one album or compilation that they released this year, offhand? Without checking on Psyshop?
  22. Darkpsy is a French guy who lives in Portugal. He also makes music as Analog Experience, afaik. He's made some real nice tracks, but the album was disappointing for me, not very interesting music at all.
  23. yeah, Kino Oko used to be the hard banging techno side of Bigwigs.. softened up quite a bit.
