and that's how we get 'full-on'.
-
all i know is i liked psytrance a lot and even DJd it before i ever heard it on acid or shrooms. but i never understood it.
-
you don't need psychedelics to listen to it or to like it. you do need psychedelics to understand it.
-
Cinos how can you review psychedelic trance without ever having done any psychedelics? and please don't give me that 'you don't need psychedelics to understand it' speech.

Sundance released some amazing compilations as well - Vibraspirit 23 and Sundaze were excellent. Vibraspirit 23 was pretty good. Haven't heard the new one yet. They're all about melodic music, in case you haven't noticed - and the full-on tracks they sign are pretty decent..
-
these are full-on and prog labels only.. (and some washed-up ones like Twisted ) where are trishula, resonantearth.com, schlabbaduerst, vertigo, mistress of evil, etc etc.
-
eh. funny description - there are a couple of decent tracks on that one..
-
eh.. near everyone falls under that, really. it'd be easier to name the albums that DON'T have the same repeating sound.
-
It's a very good CD. Not every track is great, but most are really good. Not that dark, but definitely twisted - one of my favorite Parvati comps for sure.
-
the derango album is made in a certain style - basslines are mostly the same throughout the album, and so are the sounds. still it's very complex, took me at least 10 listens to start figuring it out.. very powerful music, very psychedelic. but there is something in it that turns me off - a lack of emotion perhaps, or of humor.. I can appreciate the power of the music, but have trouble 'feeling' it. It doesn't send shivers down my spine the way Zik or Penta, or even some older Derango tracks do. While I will certainly be playing this album out at parties for some time to come - and making everyone dance and gasp and scream - I doubt I'll be listening to it at home very often. And I believe it's the 'listen at home' test, which, in the end, is what truly determines the greatness and longevity of a piece of music.

lol i liked 'psychedelic adventure', that's about it. was definitely expecting more..

check this one http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=26711

Talamasca - Zodiac is super-epic (not in a good way, either); the old Psydrop album (before he turned into Hypersonic ) is in that whole epic key also. big waste of time, imo.
-
eh.. i like some of Eskimo's music. once in a while he puts out a really nice one, like that Jack in the Box remix from the Portuguese promo. haven't heard the whole album yet, but so far I don't like it very much.
-
i did. the music is pretty good, but i don't like the production at all. sounds like it was all made on a casio pop machine. maybe next album.
-
hrm.. out of all those, I only like Benza. but i also like Penta, Derango, Psystories, Squaremeat, Nystagmus, Bon, Bodhisattva 13:20, Ghreg on Earth, Sensient, Idea FX, E-Jekt, etc etc etc.

dark and techy prog psy roxxor. morning housy prog psy suxxor as you can see, i am feeling especially minimal today.
-
eh.. none of these make me even remotely excited. good production, but same old ideas done over and over again. maybe some more Metal Sharon, that'd be neat.
-
true and i am not talking about just the so-called 'psy techno' either. minimal glitchy techno has gotten a lot better as well... and some of it is extremely psychedelic.
-
some awesome music this year in both twisted and prog genres. something is changing. looking forward to 2006 for sure.
-
Brian Eno and David Byrne - My Life In the Bush of Ghosts amazing album - a classic. 25 years old and still sounds better than most stuff produced today. Brian Eno and Robert Fripp - No Pussyfooting/Swastika Girls one of the first "ambient" albums made with tape loops - from 1973, I believe.

lol English is nice because so many people understand it. and it's usually american because most movies where the samples come from are made in Hollywood. personally, i find british accent a lot sexier.. but really, who fucking cares, as long as you understand what they're saying?
-
it was decent enough so i listened to the whole track without stopping midway. danceable.. might be fun to play for kicks one sunrise, but of course it's got nothing on the original.
-
how about Astral Projection - Mahadeva (Samadhi remix).. Samadhi does 'dark' psy, fyi. and... it's weird.
