  1. shweeet.. congratatutulations...
  2. nice tunes, but there's still a whole month left in the year...
  3. I'd vote for Bigwigs or Weird Walker, but sans those two, it has to be Sensient.
  4. yeah, musical education makes a big difference.. i studied music seriously for many years, so I can usually trust my ears to tell me what chord i'm about to create, and what kind of mood it's going to set. But I think anyone can do it just as well with a bit of practice - learning how to recognize certain tones and progressions of chords isn't that hard if you have the ear for it and are willing to put some time into it. Also I think listening to a lot of classical music can help in that respect, since classical music is built on harmonic progressions. Harmonically mixed sets do sound a lot better, btw..
  5. I don't like this remix all that much. Generic dancefloor material, though it'll probably go over well once or twice with the fullon crowd, for nostalgia's sake. I really like Eat Static's track from that same compilation. The only track on there that 'does it' for me.
  6. I agree, Digitaria sucks... I was never a huge Nommos or Goa Gil fan, but I think lately he's been getting a lot better. His Divine Dozens are off the hook. His own recent stuff is much better produced, imo. and quite highly psychedelic, imo. i mean, i go through and listen to pretty much EVERY release that comes out, and some Nommos tracks (not all, mind you) are as good as any 'dark' psy out there. I don't think he's on the same level musically as, say, Fractal Cowboys, Zik, Jellyheadz, Derango, or Kindzadza - but compared to the mass of shitty dark psy out there, Nommos stands out for sure.
  7. dude that is simply not true. a lot of the stuff is not minimal at all. have you heard much new nommos? and the music that Goa Gil plays in general? maybe you should go theck his top 10 or whatever - all the tracks i've heard from the last 2 or 3 dd's are fucking unbelievably trippy.
  8. Nommos is still going, and it's been Goa Gil alone for a while, without Kode iV. Kode iv has turned to the dark.. erm.. full-on side.
  9. this album is pure dancefloor. compared to this, Eskimo's new one is a psychedelic masterpiece. meh.
  10. Goa Gil's mixing has gotten a lot better. I heard that in the last 2 or 3 parties this year he didn't trainwreck once in the 18 hours. I'd go see him if I were you. His music is extremely psychedelic - if you don't like twisted psy, don't go - but if you do, it's a must.
  11. try listening to the penta album under the proper circumstances: at sunrise in the forest, after drinking some spiced tea , with the wolves howling in the distance to the sound of his music. OMFG... it was one of the most amazing experiences ever. That music is PERFECT.
  12. I disagree.. For me Penta's album is by far the best of the year. Derango a distant second. Nystagmus or Sensient probably third. a more complete top 10 coming at the end of December. Meanwhile anxiously waiting for v/a Trauma Trance in the mail....
  13. This Bamboo Forest "album" is the most despicable god-awful piece of eurotrance I've ever heard from a "psytrance" act. It even has cheesy vocals that rap like 'touch me, touch me' in one track, mmmkay? move over, Hypersonic - this takes the cake as the worst album of 2005.
  14. Where's my track? Dmtree - I pity the fool (Vegan Power rmx) a twisted monstah insane madness pure brain destruction.
  15. yeah well.. it's a Russian label, so i doubt anything is going to happen to them.
  16. yeah, it's one of the better compilations from this year. and yes, the concept is dumb, I agree 100%.
  17. i couldn't even get the samples to play. i've ordered from psy-harmonics before by simply emailing the contact and putting money in the paypal acct. it took a bit of time to get here from Australia, but it finally did.
  18. gripe about headphones.. - i've never liked Sony 700s (or Pioneer 1000s because of the same problem) because they're made for DJs and they amplify sound in the low frequency range (the kick/bass) while not reproducing a lot of the upper frequencies correctly. I like Sony 600s, Sony 7506, Sennheiser HD 25, or some other Studio reference headphones to listen to music. -2 cents.
  19. Killargh!!!!! I heard some of the tracks played by Amanda at Burning Man, and the stuff was spooooktacular.
  20. notice, the keyword here is [review], not [enjoy]..
  21. I wouldn't argue w/that at all - I am sure that's true. But as it relates to music, I am not sure you can be in a deep yogic meditative state and be digging on some extremely twisted psytrance madness at the same time.
  22. mmmkay.. i don't believe anyone's PR, but i guess there may be an exception or two.
