yeah, although they say that it's essentially the same thing, the x0xb0x does have a distinct sound, somehow "woodier" for lack of a better expression, and the envelopes aren't 100% right all the time. there's nothing like the real thing. still for goa, due to the usually crowded arrangement, you can most often get by with an emulator.

it's the internet. everything you read there is true but, what makes you question that fp was telling the truth; do you have insider knowledge about nhjo's identity?
-
being a 303 head i get this with every acidline. "wait, this is no real 303, but is it phoscyon or abl2? hmm.. so the resonance is almost like the real thing, but the low-mids are a bit musty and digital sounding, so it must be abl2"

thanks darkill, i just listened to the other tracks of the album, which turned out bad, but the track you posted is indeed among the most "psytrance" tracks i've heard. good find -
dude, you can't do that when you've already revealed your true identity, fp. it's no fun anymore.

i think the reason for filteria coming up first as an artist name for newschool goa simply is, because the release sky input on suntrip marked the renaissance of goa trance. it wasn't the first (ethereals' anima mundi takes that prize), but it was the first not to slip under the radar. there's a thread on the goabase titled "oldschool is back!" with now hundreds of pages, but the first post is a euphoric review of sky input. the other point here is unimaginative festival promoters who want to reach an audience that's as large as possible or pacify those horrible guys always critisizing the lineup and shouting for some newschool (like me ). i imagine they simply check for the most prominent label and choose the artist with the most releases or something (or copy from other festivals' lineup). so this summer i'll see filteria the third time (not that i'm complaining, mind you ), but equally good artists like ra or artha (or many others) are nowhere to be seen. btw: i don't think that filteria sounds like etnica/pleiadians at all. both have a signature sound that's instantly recognizable

i have wondered this for multiple years now? why are those great goa parties in belgium always in autumn? i'd love a festival in july or august with, say, three days/nights of nonstop goa trance at the mainfloor; there's no way i could miss out on such a thing.
-
a friend of mine says "there's too much going on. i need simple music to dance to", but then again when pleiadians played trip tonite and asterope (sadly the new remix of this one) at ozora 2 years ago he went wild dancing. i guess a large part of this is that people like what they are used to and years of playing good goa in my car apparently did help a bit
-
that's entirely normal. i have to subtract my birth year from the current year if people ask my age
-
great discovery richpa. looking forward to the release(s). but are you sure that it's not a side project of etnica? . there's nothing that's closer to the old etnica sound than the sample you liked to on soundcloud.
-
there were many contenders, but i think the cake goes to mwnn as the closing act on a sunday at ozora (i can't remember which year. was it 08/09/10?). the weather, the people, the atmosphere, the music, everything seemed perfect.
-
alright, it seemed a bit easier than round 2, but when i look at how many i (probably) got, it isn't really much more.
-
acid techno, freetekno, techno, jungle/dnb, 90s trance, dub, psychedelic/progressive rock and maybe a little metal from time to time.
-
definitely harder than the last one. here's my try: edit: just checked the answers. bah, i should really have gotten at least number 4 and 15. and utterly i'm confused why i thought that i had never heard #41 before.
-
round 3? did i miss round 2? edit: ah found round 2. i'm gonna try that one first
-
absolutely. bangkok is really relaxed in this respect (as much as a city of that size can be) compared to most other large cities in asia. i suspect vientiane would be even more relaxed and moving at a slower pace if it were the same size, but at not even 1 million inhabitants there's no comparison
-
the only other difference i see here, is that the "chemtrail" is closer to the camera than the contrail.

A Completely Different Music Recommendation Thread
Padmapani replied to Padmapani's topic in General Psytrance
sorry for the late reply everyone. i have almost no time on my hands right now. thanks, i will check them out when i got a little more time than now. but some of those albums are quite good. the positive alchemists series, or atma or sufi for example. but perplex and sesto sento are probably good candidates. no way. i love good fullon, like the sufi or atma albums from up there or old talamasca, duotekk and the like (or even astrix' eye to eye) (the subgenre of psy i actually hat is darkpsy ). i just want to have a sort of complete picture of psytrance in my library (and good psytrance sounds even better if you compare to the really awful stuff from time to time . besides, if don't have to listen to it for a whole party it can be quite funny acutally this track is perfectly decent, i like it. if the fullon at parties would be like this i'd go way more often. the first one is quite ok. a bit boring and uninspired, but i could dance to that music for hours. the second one: yes! this is great! well not actually, but you know what i mean . this is what i'm looking for, it's well worse than the currently worst fullon track i have in my library (which was that one: ) keep it coming -
the "medium size" parties are usually darkpsy but sometimes progressive only. and then there's the huge ones in equally huge venues (but it's still overcroweded, sometimes to the extent of being impossible to dance) that cost a fortune and offer the big names of fullon and progressive.
-
I just travelled through time in my music library from the beginnings of goa to today and i noticed that i have nearly no fullon from after 2006. i have all the gems, those few fullon albums that stand out amongst the sea of shittiness. what i am asking now is a recommendation for fullon that perfectly characterizes this sea of shittiness in its purest form with all the clichés. so the album i'm looking for should include frequent breaks, stupid bass patterns that stop all the time, (multiple) buildups that lead nowhere, boring 3-note-melodies where the leads and bass play the exact same pattern, cheesy vocals and those minimal bleeps and bloops i hate so much. i'm not looking for music like alien jesus that's stepped outside the psytrance realm, but basically the culmination of unimaginative shitty fullon. do your worst

What are you doing when listening to Psychedelic Music ?
Padmapani replied to darkill's topic in General Psytrance
there's nothing i do at home (or in the car) without listening to psychedelic music. the reason i hate the vacuum cleaner so much is purely that it's so loud i can hardly hear the music even though i turned the volume up -
i always take comfort in the thought, that, if the little psychopath could see people are doing with him in the videos, he would hate being ridiculed like that so much more than being hated or feared. maybe it's a deterrent for future wannabe dictators to know that they would inevitably end up being remembered (among other things) as a fidgeting puppet shouting nonsense along to some silly edm beat.
