  1. audio engineer/technician an audio engineer is a modern composer+alot more. BUt has limited knowledge on technical specifications of hard/software, he can use it, but can't repair them or create it. an audio technician has less creative input than an engineer and just takes care of decent mixes and EQ, and proper hardware setup, also able to repair audiohardware and create audiosoftware.
  2. yes, but who cares. music making did not change, new possibilities were added.
  3. It's nice for an old track. but yeah, it also sounds unfinished. i would add more percussion, more FXsounds (not filters, but just additional sounds outside the musical harmony) more lows and a kickdrum. But i like the concept, there are also some electro elements in it. I'm experimenting with that alot too lately, uptempo psychedelic electro. check out aquanomaly -white devil on this page I even tried recording vocals my girlfriend sang and mix them in this track but i deleted them.
  4. I use them often, but never in the lead, they are always more in the background of the mix.
  5. :posford: :posford: :posford: SPEECH!! SPEECH! SPEECH!! SPEECH! SPEECH!! SPEECH! SPEECH!! SPEECH! SPEECH!! SPEECH! SPEECH!! SPEECH! SPEECH!! SPEECH! *waiting for acidkills' speech*
  6. Why is this discussion still going on??? you've just won "PSYNEWS' most rhetorical question of the year award" I'd like to make a nice pic of a cup but i'm too lazy to bother right now. software = few thousand lines of code+hard debug process + marketing+ update+ production etc etc a creative process, only for a selected few who have the brains, money and dedication to complete such complex projects kick= "pok"
  7. bait eh? it's pretty quiet in here. Try Jessica alba as bait next time, you'll have more succes. That's Rufus!!!! don't think that guy is crazy, he's payed by some snob skaterkids to do crazy stunts for money. Now he's the celeb of the Bumfights video's. It's funny to watch but sad to think some crazy fuck with a rich daddy goes asking people on the street to hurt themself for money, then films it and release it as a commercial product. and sorry, but i don't know the track, it sound familiar, but i can't recall any names.
  8. 1.everybody "steals" music on the internet (mp3's) 2.(all psy) artists steal VST's and FX from softwaredevelopers while complaining about people stealing their music. 3.Big commercial labels steal money from everybody by selling them bullshit, spend millions to promote it, but it's still BS. you see, the music industry is all about stealing, so who are we to tell you shouldn't sample a kick ( only a stupid lousy kick) from another track. I'd say go ahead. If anybody gets pissed ask them what they have stolen involving audio. (mp3's, VST, software etc) I'm certain everybody stole more then a kick....THey have no right to speak about just a kick. stealing software and VST's is much worse than editting a kick...imo It's just a kick!!! why are you even asking this, if it's from a psyartist he probably downloaded it from the net anyway so it's not his kick. If a hobbyist musician told me he "stole" my kick, i would be soooooo happy cause it's a great token of appreciation. it's just a kick...just edit it and play with it, it's not like you're going to release it on labels like universal....
  9. Deus! old song( early 90's) deus - suds & soda mix ok with beer new song Deus is not traditional, but in Belgium an established group. The song i like the most is Bad timing, the guitarist used a special device that generates a strong lightbeam or laser or something that makes the strings vibrate, very trippy! And a unique experience if you hear it live.
  10. mmhhh, best belgian artists are not "traditional". But we have some funny traditional artists though. Every gig they do is topcomedy. (although they are serious and think they can sing) (he's 76 i thnk, got some serious issues, acts like a movie star, thinks he's elvis or something, sings the most ridiculous songs, but the crowd loves him, everywhere he goes, not because he's a good artist, but the "WTF-effect" as i like to call it) "WTF-effect": is he serious? nah, it's it's a joke. no he's serious, nah, can't be! OMG WTF BBQ he's for real and serious . . . i'm scared... CHANGAI AMAI AMAI!!!
  11. another great dark trance track: anne clark - our darkness (total eclipse remix) clicky, last song on list
  12. lunch party... sounds nice, what are you serving? bami bang bang?
  13. musicmaking is a videogame!!! People need to understand th true nature of music. like stated below:
  14. Nice track!! I really love it. good job I really like the 303. top notch on 303 skills! The spacey atmosphere stays a bit too long, it's good to start the track but at a certain point i was hoping for a lift off. But i'm a fan of uptempo trance and this balances between ambient and dancemusic. percussion is a bit minimal imo, no hatrushes, snarerolls etc. anyway, good tracK. maybe minimal, but very harmonic. i want to hear the final version.
  15. off course music changes you. THat's even a bit a retorical question imo... I would even say that hearing is the most important and influential sense, more influential then seeing, touching, taste or smell. Sound is the only sense that has a direct impact on the brainwaves. Brainwaves are rythmical, your whole body is rythmical. So rythmical sound can influence your brainwaves cause they react to external rythmic patterns and try to synchronise with it.
  16. imo, best in that genre: Tim schuldt Four carry nuts Cydonia

  18. If i would have heard this song without reading your personal view about it i would have classified it in melodic full on.
  19. complete list is allready posted, jsut one site i have in my favs that is not in it www.elixiria.fi (finish psyboard, don't understand a word of it, but they host some good free music)
  20. honestly, if i would have a girlfriend that listens to psy 24/7 i would go crazy and kill myself. actually, my girl is more into commercial trance like airbase, cygnus X and System F. I must admit it's easy listening music. But she never listens to it at home and only has a few trance CD's. My current choice of music is 40 % goatrance & 60 % old skool trance/dream trance, so we're a perfect match. Luckely she hates tiesto, if she ever starts liking his music i will break up. If she doesn't i'll marry her. So on a certain day in the future i'll go down on my knee and ask her: "sweetie, i have to ask you something....." - yes.???????? "do you like tiesto???" -FOR GOD SAKE, NO NO NO, HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU!!!! "ok, that's all i need to know" I once took her to a goatrance party and she absolutely loved it. Best party she had been too. So she doesn't mind if i play a goatrance CD. Then a few months later we went to a darkpsy/full-on festival and she hated it. I can't blame her, cause i hated it too. She called dark psy "emo/loser music" and was really puzzled why i would even consider going to such parties. She called fullon stupid and annoying (she only heard Dj Jorg) She said she was afraid that in time, i would start dying my hair black and use white make-up. She also said the party was filled with zombie's and the druggies scared her, everybody felt introvert and lonely while at the parties she went to, she said, everybody was shouting, jumping with the hands in the air. She also said she couldn't stop thinking this music could make people psychotic, depressed and insane. I replied she had alot of insight for a newcommer and we were just there because there wasn't anything better available. I don't think we'll ever go to a dark psy party again. It's weird we rarely go to parties together, while we both love electronic music. She often goes to big commercial parties with all her friends(all girls), always trance. White sensation & other ID&T parties. She likes it big & expensive. I like it small & cheap. They once asked me to come to one of those ID&T parties, but i had to decorate a party that day. And honestly, when i was at the party the only thing i could feel was regret. I couldn't stop thinking about jumping in my car and go to the big trance party all psypeople hate. I reflected the entire night, and realised i didn't fit in between the people standing in front of me, i really felt alienated that night. Maybe it was because i knew 5 girls were going crazy on the best sound system of the country while i was trying to figure out in the dark how i could reattach a backdrop to the ceiling that kept falling down. sometimes i'm a blind idiot.... Next time my girl and her friends go to a party, i'm going too!!! So in the end, i tried to learn my girl to appreciate goatrance, but she countered it and learned me to appreciate trance didn't see that one coming... I even made a trance song for her: clicky (aquanomaly -medusa)
  21. There is no build in midi learn function, but i can connect vangaurd by using the midi control of the software sequencer. I don't know which software you are using, but there is always a way to control a VST by midi, even if the VST doesn't have an build in midi learn function. I used vangaurd in cubase and Fruity and in both i could link vangaurd to midi hardware. I liked vangaurd alot too, but i think it's a bit outdated now. or maybe i overused it. better vst's took it's place as most used VST. (Rob papen's predator *drool* ) @ reznik: don't try to find a synth that sounds like vanguard, cause honestly, it's sound is good, but the sound of modern hardware synths is waaaaaaaay better. If i had the money right now i would buy a Nord lead G2 modular. I had the chance to test it for about 2 hours and fell in love instantly. It's a modular synth, so you can program your own virtual modules on PC, upload them to the synth and start freestylin on your own patches. This synth would also come closest to the vanguard, cause if you had the time and passion for it, you could actually reverse engineer the sound of vanguard on your computer and upload it to the G2. but be aware, i know you're allready drooling now. THis is geek stuff, if you don't feel like completely dedicating yourself to this baby it's a complete waste of money. You'll have to live, sleep and breath with it before you discover it's full potential. Cause it's very complicated. IF this synth would be completely hardware, you'd need a house to store it, but luckely, we're living in 2007 and you can now store it under your bed. here's a pic if you feel like mastrubating now: and here's a pic of the software where you can make modules you can upload to the G2 It's an expensive piece of equipment, but if you buy it, you don't buy one synth imo. if you ever feel like buying it, jsut buy the rack version and a decent midi controller instead of the G2midi version. the midi version is very expensive and too big. the rack version is about half the price and really small for what it can do. rack G2+midi controller does the same as G2 midi once you heard the sound of a G2 you'll laugh at vangaurd.
  22. oh, every now and then i pray to the gods that some alien spacecraft will abduct me and take me to their homeplanet.... but they never come. someday....semewhere.... nice pic btw
