  1. well, the description of the song is really hard and impossible to give decent recommendations. You want songs that sound exactly the same but, there is only one song that can sound exactly the same as a song and that is the song itself. If you really like blue planet corp. i advise you to check out early planet Ben ambient & california sunshine.
  2. optimists are bad informed pessimists quote by: some guy
  3. suntrip records???? or Asia 2001 - amnesia vewwy vewwy good CD! check link for preview
  4. One of my ex-collegues was in the Belgian MOTU demo team. He converted me like a preacher converted tribes in africa. He had plenty of time and was a walking promotiontool. I do not completely remember why though, but in my mind is this conviction it is the best product and i want to buy it. i feel brainwashed
  5. I'm not really optimistic about the future of psytrance. I think darkpsy will become even more popular & eventually sound more like hardcore & breakcore. Full on will die, finito. Instead a darkpsy version of full on will rise. goa trance will be the underdog like it has been for the past 5 years, but no remarkable revivals, very good releases but also very rare. progressive psy will probably be the most succesfull, decently organised parties & quality. But proggy is not my kind of music... Big labels will stick to established names, avoid newcommers. Quality will drop in all releases. more mp3 releases with less quality. Even CD releases will have less quality, especially in the overcrowded & popular subgenres like darkpsy. So i'll propably stick to the rare but wonderfull goatrance releases, sometimes a proggy CD with über soundquality.
  6. That's hilarious. what's that dude's name on psynews that always says RESPECT!
  7. Exactly 113, variable from 2m*2m till 8m*6m ok, now i'm jsut trying to be a hardhead.
  8. Computers generate alot more heat than CD players. next on psynews: How piracy is responsible for global warming... send in your opinions.
  9. Mp3 shouldn't be banned. It's a good thing. But it's fundaments are based upon open-source, so it's pure logic it is exploited. All this talk about sales that drop & rise is about money. I'm not going to speculate about money and numbers. But i have a question for you. How do you feel about respect to artists by downloading their work if you know they are not happy about it? Forget the money & numbers, forget the labels & stuff. imagine a face to face conversation with an artist you illegally downloaded music from and he just told you he hates it. What would you say? a. "oh you fucking capitalistic pig, open your fucking eyes and get a real job" b. " I'm sorry, i was unaware of the fact you made this and just downloaded it cause i love it, i'll reconcider in the future" c. something else It's this question that actually drives me to the anti piracy camp. I'm option B, to the bone! ps:a tattoo on your balls is painfull. I'm allready waiting for the RIAA's announcement to ban Mp3's.
  10. I hope so for the wellbeing for your wiener. [sERIOUS MODE] Actually, i would like to know what those people from sony told you. New developments at Sony interest me, i'm a bit of a technology freak when it comes to audio & video hardware. So leave this silly bet & discussion aside for a while and tell me please. [/sERIOUS MODE] [PSYNEWS MODE] let's get back to business. Playstation 3 should have been the big multimedia revelation to start the blu ray revolution. But PS3 didn't do too wel... Blu ray is loosing ground against HD-DVD. Viacom has abandoned blu ray, although this is not a knock out, it certainly is an uppercut. Blu ray still has most of the Hollywood studios but I think blu ray will loose the commercial market, but it will have a long & succesfull life on the professional video market. Sony is in for a hard time. They should learn from the past, focus on the professional market. BAck in the 70 Sony's betamax lost the battle against VHS because it was smaller & cheaper. Today Sony is fighting the clash of the titans against HD-DVD , a.... smaller & cheaper product. PLaystation 3 lost the clash against Wii & Xbox 360 cause they are.... smaller & cheaper. Can you see a pattern emerge here? Don't get me wrong, i adore sony, as professional equipment. Betamax camera's & SX recorders are my most loyal friends. They always made the best camera's, nothing else even comes close. AS for the CD, we've had CD-rom, CD-DA, CD-RW, CD-R, this is an established product, and compatible with any other reader. The only possible replacements i know about are DVD-A (dvd-audio) and SA-CD. (super audio CD) I don't believe a DVD will ever be a format for music. Costumers won't buy it. DVD is for video, needs TV and costs too much, both the disc and the player are more expensive than SACD. But i do think the SA-CD has a fair chance. and you know what? SA-CD is a product of Sony!!! It will still have this logo: with "super audio" Only time will tell. too bad 10 years is soo freaking long!!!! someone invent a timemachine, Please!. only a day has passed and i'm allready impatient! [/PSYNEWS MODE]
  11. damn, i'd love to remix this i like it! downloaded
  12. Listen download I've been working for about a year on this one. This is normally not my kind of music, but i wanted to do something like astral and ended up making this, i left it for uncompleted for a couple of months but everytime i listened to it again i felt it had something unusual and just had to finish it. I still feel like it's not yet completed, and i've changed it many times, but i think this is going to be the final version. Last time i tried to complete this track is raped it really bad. composed in FL studio 7 with predator VST only. remixed in adobe audition. mixed with headphones only. psytracks link
  13. deal! we have a bet? allright! it's on baby, it's ON! I think CD's will still be available as main product. There is no need to replace it cause it's perfect in memory size for music albums and backwards compatible with any CD/DVD/HDDVD/blu-ray/new format reader. mp3 will never kill CD's, it's compressed and easier to loose and can only be played on players that hold the codecs, a CD is universal. You prefer a tribal tattoo or just plain text? any specific font you prefer? see you on 1/1/18!
  14. i'll bet you for a 1000 euro that there will still be CD's in stores in 2018. You want to take it? And to add, if ,on 1/1/18, i cannot find any CD's (new releases) i will dress up like a sheep and scream beah beah on the streets for 4 hours. but if on 1/1/18 i do find CD's, you will have to get a temporary tatoo (about 1 month) " PWNED by Daniël on 1/1/18" on your forehead. that's a serious offer... also debatable if you want changes
  15. grow up! please. to me it sounds like this: wtf? you have a personal distaste against me? Cause that's what these posts are telling me. So yeah i know why you commented.
  16. I don't understand what you are talking about and where this comment is coming from. You completely missed my point. if you want to be a wise guy, please pick someone else. " "
  17. I just remembered a cool analogy someone once told me: Buying an mp3 is like buying the airholes from a cheese discuss?
  18. 1. Do you download music from the web? Any kind of music. How much? How often? nothing, no music, no movies, no software, nada, never 2. Do you download specifically Psytrance releases? nope. Actually the only thing i buy are expensive, rare CD's. I'm very selective, but i buy approx 2 CD a month, 5 DVD's, and go to cinema twice a month. I like high quality, and i want to see or listen to the original product, how it was intended, in it's full glory. 3. Do you think that downloading (and any other forms of piracy) really hurt the music industry? yes, and people who claim otherwise are simply bad informed , not informed or speculating. I cannot speak for the music industry but i have a job in media and sometimes freelance for non commercial movies. And i have seen with my own eyes how this industry changed and is adapting to the modern digital age. The most frustrating part about it is that piracy does not hurt the people with the money, they just calculate it down on newcommers. Best proof of this is the ongoing strike in hollywood of the writers guild which has allready stopped the golden glode awards this year. In the end i only see a bad outcome, those employees want things to go back to "the old days" but they don't understand it's impossible. Big label CEO's will not adapt the same way as they expect from their employees, if they will be forced, they will just leave the industry, looking for more profitable sectors, and then it will really start collapsing. Most people don't see the direct impact of piracy cause they don't know they are hurting the regular guy on the street while the movie star or rockstar still lives his spectacular life. 4. Do you think that downloading (and any other forms of piracy) really hurt the Psytrance industry? How many big labels took the dust last years? And how many mp3 netlabels were born in the same years? that's proof enough imo The psytrance scene today exists more out of amateurish homebrew than quality commercial products, every form of media first started with homebrew. I am a strong supporter of homebrew, open source and alternative media, it is in this strong and loyal community that dreams come true and revolutions are born. But it is not my choice to download a commercial product. I buy commercial products, i download homebrew. It's just a matter of respect to the artist. Once homebrew grows up, it's mature version will always be commercial. Homebrew and open source is a good thing but without money you can't deliver a high quality product. 5. Would you like a world that every new album/comp would be released only in the web I don't like buying 1's and 0's. I like a CD. Even when i buy software on the net i buy the more expensive box version.
  19. wauw, you finally crawled out of your cave after 2 years? This is the weirdest thread revival ever.
  20. I sometimes work for television producers and we have to record everything in double mono while capturing live from a studio. There is always a stereo input on the patch to the SX recorders but we never use it, it's weird cause when there are 4 SX recorders for approx. 5-10 camera's we have 16 audio tracks to write & read and 4 to broadcast. SX 1 is broadcasted so we patch the output of the mixer, which is all recorded mono, to L & R input SX1, so it happens often we have to change the patch in the middle of a live broadcast when we need a prerecorded audiosample, it's really tricky cause when we make mistake we can still hear it on our monitors but if the patch to SX1 is wrong it is not broadcasted, so we need several audiosignals and several monitors if we don't want to mess up. I'm not sure why we only use double mono though... but my guess is that it's because it are all microphones and have to sound as close & clear as possible. Stereo has a more natural sound but it can sound distant & muddy, mono is raw and unnatural but you'll always understand what they are saying, so we record it mono and double it before broadcasting, the best way to get a clear voice. hey, i think i just figured out one of the greatest mysteries in my life after reading your post.... now the other 50 mysteries....but thanks anyway
  21. you're indeed puzzled. A compressor manipulates the dynamic range. A compressor can be used to compress an audiosignal once it tends to go over a certain range. So it's acutally some sort of automated volume control. A compressor reduces the gain of an audio signal if its amplitude exceeds a certain threshold. The amount of gain reduction is determined by a ratio. The time it takes for the compressor to respond to changes in input level is known as attack. changing the volume is simular to compressing but it is static, a compressor is dynamic and automated by the parameter settings you prefer. i hope this cleared things up.
  22. You have to buy honest monitor headphones. Most headphones are made for musiclistening. They boost certain frequencies and take parts away to give the sound an extra punch. But these are not suitable for recording or music production cause if you create music with it and then listen it on monitors your mix will sound different. honest headphones have a more raw sound, they are not suitable for musiclistening but all frequencies are at the same volume, nothing is boosted. in my experience, it's easier to mix with honest headphones than mixing with monitors. I would also suggest you buy headphones that have replacable parts, i know Sennheiser headphones have this, don't know about other ones though. I use headphones cause i'm in the same situation you are, i have used sony, pioneer, philips and technics, I always treated them very carefully but they all broke down within 2 years, i used them daily. Now i have sennheiser and i can replace any broken part. If the earbud is broken, you can order a new one. THat's alot cheaper than buying a new pair everytime. Most people don't know about this difference in boosted and honest monitor headphones and think it's impossible to produce music with headphones. But it is possible, but only a small part of all headphones can do this (my wild guess is 5% of everything available), so watch out you don't buy boosted or DJ headphones. I use Sennheiser HD25-1. They don't look fancy, and they are not boosted, so listening music on them sounds very raw, but still the best i ever had.
  23. I listen to Studio Brussels alot, great radio, crazy hosts, good music. (alternative rock & electronic dance music) they once did a contest, it was called " the BIG Reykjavik Contest" Every morning they phoned a famous babe( miss belgian beauty & other beauties) played the jingle of the show, with the word Reykjavik repeated several times. like " the big Reykjavik show, REYKJAVIK, reykjavik, reykjavik, reykjavik, show. then , always the same question they asked the babes: what's the capital of Iceland??? you have 3 seconds... DING DING DING THE the big REYKJAVIK SHOW!!! babe:.......euhm.... i don't know; DING DING DING THE big REYKJAVIK show. sorry, you lost. DING DING DING THE big REYKJAVIK show. classic. ps: for the people who don't get this joke, Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland. I think it took about 3 weeks before someone answered Reykjavik, but she was probably prepared.
